My husband and I took our new rescue cat here for the first time as new clients and saw Dr. Jane Rubio. While I will admit I can be a high-maintenance client for a veterinarian, my husband is not, and he agrees with me that this doctor was one of the most unhelpful and least professional that we have ever dealt with. We made the mistake of revealing that we had previous experience working as vet techs, and once she heard this, she didn't seem to want to do anything with our cat herself. Our cat's ears needed cleaning and we were told we should be able to do this at home (never mind the fact that this is a very scared and shy rescue cat who we have not had for long and who we are still trying to build trust with. We didn't want to neglect her treatment until such time as she feels comfortable with us, and that is the whole reason we were bringing her to the vet in the first place- so she could get treated without having to be frightened of US). We also wanted the doctor to at least attempt to draw some blood for various tests, and we were told that they were simply too busy that day because they were short a technician. (From our previous experience in the field, we know that this describes virtually EVERY day in veterinary medicine, and so we really don't feel that was a valid excuse.) But the worst part of the experience was the fact that we had wanted our cat dewormed (she'd been having blood in her stool and came from a shelter environment, so we knew that a prophylactic deworming was a good idea) and she was given THE WRONG MEDICATION. The doctor gave us Droncit, and told us it was a broad spectrum dewormer, which it is NOT. I felt sure of this at the time it was given, but thought I would give the doctor the benefit of the doubt and verify what I thought I knew online. Droncit only treats tapeworms and is NOT a broad spectrum dewormer- I believe Rubio was thinking of DronTAL, a similarly named but different medication. When I brought this issue to the clinic's attention a couple of days after our appointment and asked for a refund on the medication, they gave me a hard time about it and said they would need the doctor's side of the story. I spoke to her on the phone today and she was defensive bordering on argumentative and never even apologized for the mistake she finally grudgingly admitted she had made. They did give me two doses of an ACTUAL broad spectrum dewormer instead of a refund, but the whole experience has made me really regret that I stressed out my cat with this useless visit, all for nothing. Rubio was no help at all and noticeably took a dislike to me during the appointment. I know I'm a crazy cat lady, but a professional veterinarian doesn't TREAT clients as if they're crazy. Read Less
