I've been a customer of Arrowhead for nearly 10 years and they are a very important part of helping us keep our rescue dog and cats healthy.  My dog had knee replacement at 1 1/2 years old and it was a success.  I had an elderly cat who was given several more years through thoughtful treatment and custom medication.  While the fees are higher than some vet clinics, I am happy to pay a little more for the peace of mind.  I love my furry family and only want the best of care for them, not a discount. I've been taking my white German shepherd to Arrowhead for over 3 years now. I've moved a few towns away and it's now about a 2 hour round-trip but I'm still making the trip to Arrowhead. They have provided world-class care and the staff is terrific. They have a lot of flexibility with appointments and while they are always busy the staff never seemed rushed and take the time to answer any question and provide helpful guidance. It's apparent to me that Dr. P and his staff genuinely care about their patients and are deeply invested in their wellbeing. The last time I was there one of the front desk staff was telling someone it was the best job she ever had and that she loved her employer. She had worked at other places for 10 years but made the decision to come back because Dr. P was the best employer she ever had. Those are the kind of people I want caring for my GSD. I pass a half dozen other vets on the trip to Arrowhead but wouldn't consider going anywhere else - Arrowhead is one of the best service providers I've ever encountered. Read Less

I have been bringing my two huskies Luna and Zane to this place for over 3 years now and I have never had a negative experience with the staff. The services are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and can answer all of your questions. I am so accustomed to receiving excellence from AAH, that I don't even think to question anything my Veterinarian, or the technicians, or the Client Service staff tell me, or suggest for my kids. I've seen so much greatness with regard to their care for my 4 leggers, that I know what ever they recommend is going to be what's best for my kids. No question. I went in to have my dogs nails trimmed, being new to CO I wanted to check out the establishment......but what a huge mistake. When leaving, I am at the counter with my wallet out and the girl behind the desk just says thanks for coming in have a good day. 1 week later, I received a bill for $38 for 2 nail trims. I go in to pay the bill and question them about the bill and I get treated as I ran out on paying them. I asked why I wasn't told of the cost, and then the girl says why did you think it was free? Well yes I did, when I go to pay and then no price or invoice is given...yes I assume it is free. On top of that, they then call me out on not bringing my dog in for an appt, when I tell them he passed away and to never contact me again...the snarky girl says "sounds like a plan" Luckily I had enough sense not to smack her from across the counter. If this is how they treat the pet owners, I wonder how they treat the animals. Thankful, my senior dog did not pass in their care. I am appalled with how they treated me.....it's not about paying for a service, I'm happy to do that.....but, I pay less for my own manicures...$19 for a nail trim and then to get treated like shit.....absolutely repulsed by this establishment.Read Less

I absolutely love the people here. Arrowhead has been treating my fur babies for over six years and I would never dream of taking them anywhere else. Recently we had to put one down due to some pretty serious health issues and the compassion and time they took to come to my home and assist us was extraordinary. I do agree with others that pricing does seem high but the wonderful experiences that my family has had here keeps us coming. We are new to the Colorado area and I was looking for a vet, I brought my 2 dogs in for a nail trim. As I went to pay when leaving, wallet out the girl behind the counter simply says thanks for coming in have a great day.  I then receive a bill for $38 for the nail trims, I go in to talk about the bill and was treated like trash. As if I ran out on the bill.  The girl even saying "what did you think it was free" Well actually yes, when I go to pay and told thank you have a good day...I surely do....Then to add insult to injury, called out for a no call no show for an appt. when I tell the girl behind the counter my senior dog passed away and that is why the appt was a no call, I told her to remove my info because I would not be coming back she says "sounds like a plan" wow what class you all have.  If this is how you treat your clients, how do you treat the animals.  It will be my goal to make sure everyone in Colorado knows about the horrible treatment I received and the ridiculous invoice sent to me for overpriced nail trims.....how dare you. I am extremely saddened by the fact that I was quoted two different prices and then when I went to my appointment the price was double. I believe that the nurses and receptionist should all understand pricing and give the proper quote when a customer calls. The Vet Jim Houchens is a fantastic guy and a great vet. He takes the time to be thorough and he will even call you himself, not many out there that do that. Yes they are on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. Your animal's health is important and if you want cheap then maybe you should reconsider owning a pet as that is not fair to them to go cheap. I am going to say the positive first in my review. I went to Arrowhead for many years and always saw Dr Pfretzschner with my cats. I think he has always been a great vet and I respected his judgement. Of course I went back when I got my new kitten and saw Dr Pfretzschner. We had scheduled my kitten to be spayed and at that time he gave me a estimate of the cost. Unfortunately, Dr Pfretzschner no longer does the surgeries and Dr Cordell was assigned. When I brought my kitten in the morning to be spayed Dr Cordell had a whole different estimate almost double in cost to what I was quoted before. He told me there was a mistake on Dr Pfretzschners part and this is what he was charging and why. He also told me that he would take the Rimadyl 25 mg chew off his quote for that was mainly for dogs. Needless to say we won't be back for I got quoted one thing and then the morning of us being in there it changes. If you can't trust the billing estimate or the vet doing the surgery I can't trust the best care for my kitten! Read Less

I have to say that after spending over $1000.00 in a few weeks time to find no solution to my dogs pain. I was disappointed and called and talked to Dr. Cordell to only hear well this is a unique case and it will take a lot of research to diagnose the issue. After the last time my dog was in the clinic he came home in worse condition than he was when we took him in for X-Rays..  Well it seems a little funny that I can take my dog to Northside Emergency clinic and have them look at my dog and in the matter of 15 minutes have at least somewhat of a clue and they were also able to manage his pain so he could at least rest.  I would never recommend the clinic to anyone as several others have said its all about the money to them and not about taking care of the pet. Dr Bolinger and the entire staff are incredible! Highly attentive and truly caring. They take the time to explain, answer questions, and follow up. After reading through some of the other reviews it looks like I'm not the only one who feels that this clinic is mainly focused on money. I have gone to them for various routine check ups over the years due to convenience of location. However I now realize that this clinic charges much more then other vets. On my last visit for a blood test for my puppy, I thought that they were not upfront with the fees they were going to charge me. I had taken a trip to an emergency vet clinic (northside) a month prior and I feel there's something wrong when a routine test is almost comparable to an emergency situation for a pet. That just goes to show you that when you're looking for a vet you need to shop around. Not only do I feel the prices are high here at Arrowhead, I do not feel that the care is anything extraordinary. In fact, on my last visit the front desk tech was very unfriendly. After this last visit they lost me as a customer forever. I am using another Vet who also makes house calls and is extremely reasonable cost wise. Definitely look around before you consider Arrowhead animal hospital. Read Less

Just moved here a couple months ago, we had 3 furbabies at the time and were worried about finding a new vet - so I thought it was nice to get a letter in the mail from a vet clinic introducing themselves and saying welcome to the area... But at the bottom was a $15 discount off first appt... Never seen any vet offer that.... Generally physical are a flat rate and why would I need a coupon to take my pets to see their new vet for the first time? If they need to send out letters with coupons for small discounts im concerned about their business, ppl must not be impressed. Reviews from multiple sources point  toward a focus of $$ above patients at this clinic...they send out introductory letters with a $15 dollar discount... Seriously a free visit to come meet them would be more personable... This letter is literally like come pay us but let us help you and save you $15. Disappointing. the letterhead says they have 5 vets but they're not open past 5:30pm? Odd. Won't be going here. In the 2 months we've lived here we have received 2 $15 dollar discount letters.. I've been very pleased with the care and attention they've given to my older cat. The doctors and staff are always friendly. They've even called a couple times (unsolicited) to check on my cat. I also use them for boarding, which gives me peace of mind to know that while I'm away, my cat is being looked after at the same place he gets his medical care. I would highly recommend Arrowhead. They are an amazing group of people. Our dogs wag their tails when we tell them we are going to see their friends at Arrowhead. We've just said goodbye to our dog Sue and they have been amazingly kind. Ziegler, and Hrenchir have left, as have many of the techs, I'm suspecting for ethical reasons...  New vet Todack is all about profits, as is the owner Pfretzschner.  After spending over a thousand dollars there in the past month (and always paying cash for everything) we just were there today for a simple visit and left with an unreasonably high bill.  (Anal sacs needed cleaning, and I suspected an ear infection, all of which I told them on the phone upon scheduling the appointment in the morning.)  Todack took it upon herself to palpate (feel) my dog, and auscultate (listen to her lungs) to tack $54 on to the bill.  Spoke to the practice manager about it, and he justified the cost saying they charge an exam fee if the animal hasn't been seen in the past 72 hours.  Anal sacs and ear infections are issues my dog has had previously and in the past they've seen us for the costs of services provided, which I told him, and to which Steve told me I should have felt lucky that they'd provided those without the additional fees.  The conversation was unreal....  So much for customer loyalty!  We'll be taking our business elsewhere. The Doctor here is very nice and seems pretty good.  I had both my cats here.  One that I lost this year but I adopted another kitty.  The front desk lady is enough to make you walk out the door.  She was rude then and she was rude now.  She actually made the remark that maybe I shouldn't have adopted my new kitty until I was over my other kitty.  Because I told her about my loss and was a little emotional, it was still fresh. ( 2 months)I will never be "over" my first kitty and I am giving another one a very good and loving home which at 8 years old might not have had that chance  and she's keeping me good company.  This place is expensive but for a good vet would be worth it.  They just need to get rid of the curly haired, unprofessional, unfriendly, help at the front desk.  enough to keep me away.
