On June 16 I had to take my cat in for his annual shots at 9 am. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I like the facility, the lobby is very open with lots of lighting and clean. The layout is very nicely done the way they have the dogs separate for quiet for the cats. The technician and Vet Doctor are very caring and understanding. It's good to know they all have pets too. The only negative thing I have to say, I had to leave my cat there so they could get a urine sample to test. I was told I get a be called when he was ready to be picked up. It was going to take a couple of hours, about noon for pickup, so I was good with that time gap. In the mean time, I had another appointment at 1 pm and I waited for the call. Never got it. I ended up calling them at 12 and he was ready. I was disappointed I didn't get that call because I had to rush over to pick up my cat and be back home in time for my 1 pm appointment. the first time I took my dog here I was pleased... (rabies shot) yesterday’s visit was a little disappointing. When I called to make an appointment I asked for an estimated cost which he gave me. I was told $56 dollars for an exam then obviously whatever game next was decided on his diagnosis. I thought it was a little high but I agreed. Well the “exam” was literally the vet lifting his tail and knowing exactly what needed to be done. $98 dollars later we left! I also asked the vet twice how much it would cost to neuter my dog, she said she would looks it up. At the end of the visit she still didn’t give me an answer so I asked her to just email me. VitalPet has been amazing for my dog & my cat. I started coming to VitalPet when my dog hurt his paw and couldn’t attend doggie care anymore. They offered him a day lodging option that would keep him calm while in his cast. They were also able to re wrap his bandages as our vet asked us to do every 3-4 days. Our 20 year old cat had a seizure. The latest vet I had been using couldn't fit us in (again!) so I contacted VitalPet. VitalPet saw us immediately, had a cat-only exam room, and the kindest, gentlest veterinarian I've met in a long time. The recommended tests and the prescribed treatment all made sense and were reasonably priced. I was very impressed. I have been looking for a veterinary clinic that would feel like "home", wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, and understood the concept of emergency. Their hours are excellent, and I checked them out online and frankly I kind of like the idea of an all female veterinarian staff. I will be switching to VitalPet for all my animal care needs. I probably pass 10 different vet offices on my way to VitalPet, and it is worth it. Read Less

We love vital pet’s daycare!! We take our dog Winston here several times a week. Not only does every staff member know him by name and his personality, but they also work with him throughout the day help him to not be so nervous when his parents are away. He is always excited to go to daycare, and is so tired when he gets home (which is saying a lot as he has severe separation anxiety and is very high energy). We have been so impressed by the daycare staff. They seem to genuinely know and care for each dog and keep them safe all day! Read Less

I think when PetsVet first made the transition to the new space and to becoming VitalPet Church Ranch, there were a few bumps—not in veterinary care but in the transition of the front desk. Now checkin and checkout go smoothly once again. Changed owners to VitalPet and I like them much more than the previous owners. Updated computers, staff seems less stressed out and the doctors are very friendly. Had them perform dental surgery on my dog and they took great care of him, done in 6 hours and doing great 1.5 weeks later. They called to check on him the next day which was nice. Read Less

This place is so unbelievably awful under new ownership. My pets have all gone here for years, but they "aren't in the system" anymore. We have been here several times in the last month or two, and they can't seem to figure it out. The new staff is rude to humans and animals alike as far as I can see. Any of the old staff remaining are still great. The hours changed, so they aren't as convenient. Prices went up. My four animals aren't returning. When I asked about the inconsistencies I was told "you can have your files on the way out". Read Less

Anyone that says this place is about the money and not the pets is right. I do credit this vet for saving my dog's life, however that was in 2008. Times have changed. I have now adopted another dog since then, who we unexpectedly found out is epileptic after a few years of having her. A night of terrifying cluster seizures led to hours of testing in this vet. The problem was solved at first, she was on the perfect dose of medication and hadn't suffered a seizure since. Now that Pets Vet has moved for whatever reason, they must've lost their compassion and common sense on the way. We called three times to get my dogs prescriptions filled over the course of days and were told they would get to it. The day she ran out of her pills is the day the real problems arose. Yesterday, we called multiple times to notify the receptionist that while they've pushed off our need for a refill this long, they no longer have time to waste. She was GOING to have a seizure if they didn't get us the medication. As the levels of medicine continue to plummet thanks to these careless employees, we were STILL assured that when the doctor got back from lunch, we would be first priority. Isn't it funny how two hours passed since then, and still no refill? We had to go all the way into the vet to get the prescription written face to face since they're unreliability could no longer be tolerated. And guess what! Our dog had one seizure, followed by a two minute long seizure where she pooped, then rolled around it in while foaming and violently shaking, despite our efforts to prevent our dogs distress. So thanks Pets Vet for not giving a care in the world about your obligations and responsibilities when it comes to living, breathing animals. We will NOT be returning. Read Less

The staff was excellent and Dr. Tracy Duerksen was great (even after my old-man cat bite the crap out of her hand). Since my cat turns into the devil at the Vet's office, Dr. Duerksen called every week to check in on him instead of making him stressed out with multiple visits. I've been taking all my babies here for several years (one leopard gecko, two guinea pigs and two dogs). Every single member of the staff is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Unfortunately I had one of my pigs put to sleep last April and just last week my beloved leopard gecko. In both cases everyone was unbelievably compassionate and caring. Yesterday I had to have my beloved 16 year old German Sheppard put to sleep. I had an appointment two weeks earlier but we weren't ready to let her go yet. I canceled the appointment at the last minute. We weren't charge for cancelling the appointment. Yesterday we knew it was her time to pass. I have to say Dr Hennessey was extremely patient and kind. My dog was the nervous nelly kind of dog. Dr Hennessey helped calm her down and let me take as much time as I wanted with my beloved dog. She kept checking in to make sure I was ok and if I had any questions. And yep I asked Dr Hennessey the big question which was if I was making the right decision. Dr Hennessey explained and showed me that having her put to sleep was my final gift of love to my dog. Dr Hennessey showed me how her hip were in a bad way. She also showed me how blind my dog had gotten. And explained that my dog was mostly feeling herself around with her whiskers. Dr Hennessey also explained how she would perform everything. Dr Hennessey sat on the floor with me and my dog and I held and petted my dog until she finally totally relaxed and passed away. The dogs head that melted into my hands mad me think that she looked like when she was young and playful and happy. My dog passed with not only my love but with the caring Dr and her staff. Dr Hennessey is the only Vet I will take my very spoiled animals to. To me and my dog family going to see Dr Hennessey is like seeing and being with family. It's a good thing. Dear friends and Family, id like to update everyone with Panda. On tuesday night, mom found panda on the back porch crying and his legs were immobile. On wednesday, i took him to PetsVet of Arvada, in which they told me he really screwed up his knee and popped his hip out of the socket. Dr. Hennessey spoke directly to me and my mother and told us it was going to be about $5,000 to fix his leg and make him good and functioning again OR i could pay under $1 ,000 and have his entire leg amputated. Now you see my Panda is a strong independent outside kitty, always has been, my cats a tough cookie, but i had to pay for this entire situation by myself so i couldn't afford $5,000 to fix him so i made the decision to get Pandas foot amputated. I was devastated and through tears i told the Dr. the plan and i was able to take panda home wednesday night, drugged up and prepare for his surgery. On thursday my parents took Panda to a Planned Pethood for a second opinion and they were appauled to find out that Dr. Hennessey would not only charge me over $700+ for the X-rays, Exam, and random shit that my Panda Probably didnt even need and didnt even fix him but that she wanted to charge me an additional $5,000! to fix him! Planned Pethood also told me nothing was wrong with his knee and immediatly took Panda into surgery and got him completely fixed up for me and only charged me for the Femur that he actually needed. Panda is now safe and sound in recovery WITH HIS FOOT at a VERY affordable price. I am appauled that a Vet would completely lie and take advantage of my heart brokeness AND take off an innocent animals leg who didnt even need it off all for money. PetsVet of Arvada will never have mine or anyone i knows business EVER AGAIN and i know lots of people who go to this Vet. I caution you to take your pets here because all they want is money. Even the Veterinarian himself said vets like PetsVet give us a bad name.Read Less

At Pets Vet of Arvada you and your pets are treated like family! The doctors really care about making your pet healthy and happy. They are very organized, clean, and the prices are great! My dogs kidneys began to shut down. I rushed him here they got him in immediately no one wasted any of my time. This really is a great place. Dr. Burdette is simply amazing. She has been extremely thorough with both of our kitties. I had to take our baby girl to the emergency clinic the other night and Dr. Burdette called to check in on her. I only give this place a 1 star because I can't give zero stars! Horrible place and I would not recommend taking your dog here, especially if you have a Rottweiler or any other type of dog that may have a "bad" reputation to the public. Took my 8 month old Rotti here and had Dr. Flores look at his paw for a nail trimming . He was acting so strange when he saw her and after her grabbing his paw ( not very nicely mind you) he gentley put his mouth on her hand. After yelling at him she grabbed his paw some more , this time more aggressively. He then bit her. She then proceeded to tell me he needs to be trained and neutered and that I need to get a handle on my dog. We have people over all the time ( and have a 2 year old who is always playing with him) and have had many compliments on how well behaved and trained our puppy is. After taking him to another vet, who he was great with, we find out he actually had a small piece of glass in his paw!! If she could have been professional and refrained from yelling at my dog and telling me I'm an incompetent dog owner and thoroughly inspected his paw she would have figured it out. Disgusted with the treatment we received ! For the safety of your dog please take them to a place that cares and doesn't have a predisposition on certain types of dogs. Read Less

I had to take my snake here twice for two different things because she was sick when i bought her but i was unaware of that. They charged about half of what i expected, saying they keep it affordable so people can actually treat sick animals. When my snake died i recieved a hand written card from them signed by everyone on the staff saying how sweet she was. It meant a lot to me and i didnt expect it at all. Read Less

I am so grateful to have found this pet clinic! Dr. Hennessey is just wonderful, and I love that she is equally competent when dealing with both my dogs and my ferrets. Anyone who has ferrets knows that it's important to see a vet who is knowledgeable in ferret medicine, as our little fur babies are prone to so many illnesses and issues throughout their lives. I trust her judgement completely, and I feel their pricing is fair and reasonable, which becomes more important when you have multiple pets. I would never sacrifice my pet's well-being to save money at a lower-cost clinic, but at Pets Vet I truly feel they are giving the best quality care without taking advantage of their clients. Dr. H also calls me personally to check in a few days after visits, which I find so nice! She truly cares about her patients, and is always happy to answer my questions and make sure I understand the treatment plan. I highly recommend Dr. Hennessey and this clinic! I've been in Colorado for 3.5 years. I have 2 cats and a dog. I have been to a variety of vets in the area, and here I feel like I finally have a permanent vet for my furbabies! I don't feel over charged by this vet. They lay out all my options and let me choose what I want done. My husband hates pain killers for animals so I'm not allowed to use them unless absolutely necessary. This vet never pressures me to buy pain killers for the pets. I really appreciate this vet and I will continue to bring my family here.Read Less

While my first visit to this establishment was met with the warmest of welcomes (probably because i was shelling out the bucks), my second one was not so pleasant. I decided this morning to take my dog simply to get her nails trimmed at the same vet I had just taken my kitten to for a check-up. Accord to their policy... They can't trim her nails until she has had a checkup with their vet. That is the stupidest thing I have EVER heard. You can walk into any groomer and get a dogs nails trimmed just by having their shot records. It is pretty obvious to me that Pets Vet of Arvada is only out to get money from whatever situation they can. I then proceeded down the street to another animal hospital to which they thought that policy was completely ludicrous. Congratulations Pets Vet of Arvada... You have successfully secured the position of getting absolutely no more money from me. I will be taking my kitten somewhere else for the rest of her health care needs. Read Less

I've been taking my critters to PetsVet Arvada for years. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else, and I drive a long way to get there. My animals get excellent care here, from the simple new puppy stuff all the way through to compassionate end of life care. We share our lives with animal friends- they deserve the best care. The staff have always been helpful and kind. PetsVet also utilizes CareCredit (now Synchrony Bank), which has been handy a few times.
