I just cried tears of joy as I played fetch with my 8 year old Olde English Bulldog for the first time in four years!! She tore her CCL (ACL) in 2014 and slowly deteriorated from there. She gained weight, stopped playing, and wouldn’t even go down the stairs to go potty. She couldn’t get on the couch or go up stairs. I’ve had to carry her up to bed for months now. We couldn’t pay for her surgery because every clinic around quoted us almost $4,000. It broke our hearts. Then, we found Animal Clinic of Woodland Park. It’s been 6 weeks since her surgery, and the Vet told us it would be 8-12 weeks for a full recovery. Around 3 weeks after surgery we started taking her for light walks, and she was able to walk to the local park and back for the first time in 3 years without stopping on the way home. That was the first sign that the surgery had been a success! Over the last 3 weeks she has started hopping up to go potty, going up and down stairs, and climbing on the couches on her own again. Tonight, for the first time, she tried to wrestle with me. She did that classic dog “huffing” that sounds like a laugh. I thought, “Oh my gosh. You’re playing again!” So, I got out her ball and started tossing it across the living room floor. She RAN to get it! I immediately teared up. She hasn’t run in YEARS. We played a few rounds of fetch (I didn’t want to over-do it), and she was so excited. She was able to do all her old tricks again, and she even barked at me excitedly when I paused between playing as if to say, “Why aren’t you throwing the ball!?” She was so excited to be back to her old games! I cannot thank you enough for bringing the light back to my baby girl’s eyes. Bella is the love of my life, my favorite dog ever. It makes me so happy to see her quality of life coming back! Thank you for your reasonable prices, your thorough explanation of the surgery and follow-up care, and for helping Bella to be more like her old self again!! For anyone looking for a great clinic: The surgery here cost $1,100, with medication and follow-up treatment included. While your case may vary, and your pup’s recovery may not be as successful as ours, I cannot recommend this clinic enough. I understand that dog people aren't always people people, but this woman takes rudeness to the extreme. It makes me want to switch vets. I can handle a little rudeness, but don't be rude and completely ignore the woman standing, waiting to pick up her dogs ashes. Don't be rude to the people calling in for appointments and then trash talk them to a coworker in front of waiting persons. Don’t ask me a question then ignore me when I answer. It's unprofessional and unnecessary. So beware. The vets are top notch, but you might feel a little burned by the receptionist before you get to see them. Read Less

We had only one occasion to visit this clinic. Our beloved kitty was sick beyond what medicine could repair. The tender care we received from the receptionist to the doctors who tended to T-Bone was stellar! They gave us all the time we needed to discus, hold/cuddle and say good-bye! I took all three of my cats there at the same time, that was a mistake! On the way there, one cat destroyed the cardboard carrier and I had to duct tape him back in. During the visit, one of the cats decided to be aggressive towards the other two and staff. Two of the cats kept running into the food storage room. Despite all this chaos, the staff were wonderful! Very helpful and let me borrow a carrier to get home. They even honored my free exams from the humane society without me asking despite me having adopted the boys two months ago. Kind and compassionate--my first encounter with the clinic was bringing my Cairn in for a tooth extraction. Our previous local vet said they could do it but I wasn't convinced she was right. I have used Animal Clinic of Woodland Park for a dog & several cats & were not dissatisfied with the services. Naturally, we recommended them to our son when his new puppy needed services. He saw them for neutering, an injured leg, & a third time for another injured leg. Turns out, the puppy this time broke his shoulder. An $800 cost. Our son, had $500 to put down & asked if they would give him 2 weeks to pay the balance off when he got his next check. They refused & told him that he cannot afford the dog & should put it in a shelter. I DO NOT recommend them for anything & I will spread the word about their BAD bedside manners. I don't fault them for not wanting to do payments, but telling people what they can or cannot do is asinine! In the meantime this poor dog is suffering because Animal Clinic of Woodland Park will not help this dog nor recommend someone who would. He is taking the dog to Animal Care Clinic in Lake George. Service was fast; was able to walk in the door, have my info checked, and was in and out of the clinic in no time flat. The vet was very respectful, didn't push on time, and made sure my cat was okay after the procedure. Dr Volz, Terry Collins and everyone at the clinic are wonderful. You can come in a the waiting room will be full but everyone is taken care of amazingly quickly. Dr Volz is caring, capable and conservative in his treatment. The cost is always very reasonable, the animal always comes before profit. For the first few years I went to this clinic for my dog it was certainly a 3-4 star experience. After the last experience I had with the horrible front desk lady I would not recommend this place to anyone. My dog was having very bad seizures and I was told to get him in right away. I arrive only to be told his condition was not an emergency to them and we ended up waiting an hour beyond his scheduled appointment. They have no idea how to effectively manage a schedule and they do not listen when you tell them your dog is male or female. I am very thankful I was able to find a new vet that is local friendly and educated. If you love your furry friends do not risk their health at this awful dirty clinic. Read Less

Great vet that takes good care of your animals, yet adapts to match how you raise your animals.  Other vets in town lectured me about the fact that my dog is an outside dog and that he needs to be inside. (He's a lab/shepherd mix)  I would also get guff for taking my dog up mountains without booties even though he's never once cut his foot.  He's a tough mountain dog.  I get that some people choose to pamper their dogs and this vet will do that for you too if you want, I just appreciate that I can raise my dog the way he's happiest without getting judgmental attitude from my vet. We were in an emergency after our pitbull suffered a huge laceration on her front leg after running into a large boulder up outside of Deckers. We called the Animal Clinic of WP little over an hour before they closed, and even though they were fully booked, they told us to bring her in immediately and they would work her into the schedule somehow. They didn't even hesitate or pass the slightest judgement when they found out she was a red-nose pit - no insistence on muzzling her even though they were working on a torn up front leg. We were in and out of the clinic in less than 30 minutes and paid an extremely reasonable fee. There was no smoke blown at us about x-rays, additional medications outside of antibiotics, or any outrageous fees for the emergency visit. I have paid close to $400 for a cut much less severe at an emergency clinic and we made out with a fraction of that yesterday. The staff and doctors were unbelievably kind and thorough and didn't make us feel like a burden at all, only concerned for our pup's well being. Now we have a Franken-dog and couldn't be happier. I've brought my dog to this clinic since we moved up here about a year and a half ago. She's been in for one exam and two acute visits (and one worried phone call when I was concerned she'd poisoned herself by eating something she shouldn't have). They've worked us in quickly when we needed to be seen, and in every case, the care was kind and thorough and reasonably priced (the phone consult? No charge). I was never treated like anything other than a concerned pet owner, and was treated well by the front desk staff and the clinicians. We have been seeing Dr Volz or his partner for the last 10 years with 8 different dogs - 3 of our own and several fosters - we absolutely love this vet. I am a human physician and appreciate his expertise, bed side manners and careful approach. He doesn't run tests just to drive up the bill but instead works with patient and owner to find the best possible treatment plan. I had several dogs spayed and neutered, some surgeries done and other medical issues addressed and have always been impressed - the dogs were never stressed, healed well and I always get a follow up call the next day.   I highly recommend this animal clinic. No matter how busy they are - the staff and vets are always friendly, professional and compassionate and still find time to support local rescue groups with their work ...
