I've had two terrible experiences with this business. The first time, I brought in my old dog because I knew she was sick. I told the veterinary that she was not acting like herself, but at her age I didn't want to put her through a lot of painful, stressful or unnecessary tests. He insisted on blood work, biopsy, and medications. None which addressed the problems. Two weeks later she had a stroke late at night and two more before morning. Took her in to be put to sleep. I had to wait for almost 15 minutes. They were kind during the procedure. Then they forgot to call me when her ashes were back. I had to call. The whole experience cost me almost one thousand dollars and I believe two weeks of my dog suffering needlessly. Waited quite a while and ended getting a beautiful dog from the shelter. She had treatable heart worms. The shelter was in the process of treating her and agreed to pay for the treatment. They sent us to the Animal Medical Center. First visit I brought her in and while I was waiting for them to decide where to put us, the lady asks the vet what he wants her to do. He says "oh she's the indigent person sent from the shelter, I'm not going to talk to her, just get her signature and give her the papers. Well, I'm not indigent, but if I were is that really the way to treat me? They refused to answer any of my questions, saying that the papers covered my questions. They didn't. They were very rude. They scared my dog, who is very gentle and well behaved. They even have a donation jar on their desk for people who need help paying for their dogs food and care. I found that very strange for a place where being indigent is treated with such disrespect! The basic point is that I believe I was overcharged for bad treatment. When the shelter was paying they were rude. Neither of my dogs liked the place or felt comfortable there. I don't recommend it. Read Less

Recently moved here from North Carolina and left an awesome vet staff. Was hoping I would find a vet I loved as much as the one I left and certainly found it in Dr Madsen. He loved my dogs, was very informative, and was thorough in his check up without scaring my dogs. The facility was very clean and organized and the staff was very friendly. We have just moved here from Nevada and I was desperate to find a place my dogs could get great care and stay over night if need be. I called 3 days before we were going to leave to go out of town. ( last minute plans) They were so amazing. They got my dogs right in for a overnight stay and they updated all of my puppies shots while she was there. They were so very helpful! Wonderful staff! We moved to Woodland Park 10 years ago, and prior to my retirement in 2012, used the Vet at Ft. Carson. In August of 2014, we rescued a German Shepherd named "Summit" who was in really bad critical shape. We took her immediately to the Woodland Park Animal Medical Center based on proximity to our house alone. WOW! We could not have made a better decision! Without an appointment, Mike Factor saw us on the spot, evaluated Summit's condition, gave us an honest assessment and recommended courses of action. We tried AMC when we first moved WP, then switched to a highly recommended vet located closer to home. However, we are back to using AMC as our primary vet as the overall office experience is far superior. AMC focuses on minimizing stress during vet visits and it shows (we have a very anxious dog who doesn't do well in chaotic waiting rooms -- visits to AMC are far less stressful than at other clinics). The staff and vets are gentle and knowledgable. The prices seem a little higher overall, but at least we're not waiting 45 minutes to get into an exam room. They have a nice dog wash room and their day care/boarding services appear to be top notch. We plan to board our dog there in the future. Read Less

We just moved from Colorado Springs to Florissant and needed to change vets. We were able to bring all 3 of our fur babies at one time. The facility was great and the staff was amazing. Even our shy Schnauzer let everyone pet him. Great idea putting the exam table under a window. Our cat sat there and watched all the dogs playing and it made it less stressful to him. Read Less

I moved here from a large city where I had lots of options and choices for excellent vet facilities! So I was able to very selective. I was so happy to find vets in our community the caliber of Dr. Factor and Dr. Thompson. They take excellent care of my pack, and I trust them implicitly with their diagnosis and options for care. In addition, I have to board my pack occasionally, I don't worry at all about leaving my dogs in their care because I know they will take the best care possible for them! Animal Medical Center is the best veterinarian I have ever taken my furry family members to. Everyone in the office cares so much for the animals, from the front desk, to the techs, and the vets themselves. They take the time to talk to you and find out what is wrong with your pet, then they review what their suggestions are moving forward, even if it is to do nothing at that time and then they let you make the final decision. They always call me back quickly, can always fit me in when needed, and never make you feel rushed while you are there. When you have a sick dog or cat it is very stressful, and it is so nice to have someone you trust take care of them with you, and they are very concerned. Dr. Factor and his team were great when we had a sick puppy. He really explained everything he recommended doing. Our little guy had a stroke while we were awaiting test results and we had no choice but euthanasia. The staff and Dr. Factor were extremely supportive and you could tell they felt our pain as well. I could not be happier with the professional care our cat Sugarplum received today at WPAMC. We have recently noticed loose stools that elevated to bloody stools. Called WPAMC, and then we were there, in an exam room and with the technician within 30 minutes -- on a Saturday! In under one hour, the full exam by Dr. Thompson was done. They even do blood work in 15 minutes! We received special food, medicines, and truly impressive vet service by the whole team of caring providers at WPAMC. While our cat does need some TLC in the coming days, we could not be more satisfied with the care she received from WPAMC. HIGHLY recommended to animal lovers and pet owners.Read Less

We've been using AMC since we got our dog five years ago. We (and our dog) love it there! We feel that our dog receives excellent care and that she is in good, knowledgeable, and caring hands with the vets and techs. Sami especially enjoys doggie day care and we like that it wears her out from so much playing with the other dogs. :-) We also board her there when we are going out of town and feel confident that she's well taken care of. We were vacationing nearby and wanted to do some hikes we thought too difficult for our older pup. We saw good reviews online, called and asked some questions and made an appointment. We met with a tech before leaving her for two days and felt really good walking out the door. The employees seemed competent, caring and engendered trust. They were patient with my calls to check on her and when we picked her up she seemed happy. In the days since, I've seen no signs of trauma or anything to indicate that they didn't treat her well. It was a good price for five walks a day and they offered extra services as well. When we come back into town for more hiking, we will bring her here again. We have taken our dogs there since, literally, the first day we moved to WP three years ago. They have seen us through one terminal illness and new puppy care. We have boarded our dogs and taken them to Doggy Day Care. The staff has always been professional, competent and friendly. Dr. Factor has always given us and our dogs however much time is needed and is excellent at explaining diagnoses, options and procedures.They have my complete confidence and I am damn particular when it comes to the dogs and their care. I had the pleasure of working beside Dr. Michael Factor and Dr. Thompson over the summmer. I learned a great deal from these two professionals by the way that they communicate with their clients, the standards they set for the practice, and their desire to help each patient as if it were their own. I loved coming in to work with Susi, Evi, Blaine, Cami, Nichole, Jackie, Casey, Bonnie and others. This highly accredited practice works extremely hard and is very good at what they do. I can't say anything about the other vets at this location but DO NOT use Dr. Factor unless you are particularly keen on being overcharged, insulted, made to feel inferior and left with a bad taste in your mouth.To summarize: I do not believe that Dr. Factor had my cat's best interest at heart.  I feel duped for participating in his "free" cat exam. I DO NOT feel that he adequately takes the time to explain charges or plans and fear mongers you into tests. He was very rude and EXTREMELY condescending towards me once I told him I was going to another vet.----------------Dr. Factor came in and did his examination of our cat.  He looked at her teeth which is when he spotted a broken canine.  He said that the canine would be causing her immense pain and that we should schedule to have it removed as soon as possible.  He said he would need her blood work done. So we scheduled everything right then.--------------They said the blood results would be available the next day. I called 3 times that day, nervous about the results. They said they would call me back TWICE. I did not hear from anyone until the next morning. Dr. Factor said that my cat's kidneys looked good but indicated some minor renal issues.   He then told me that she needed to be on a prescription-only diet (that I could only get from him) for the next month.  At the end of the month he wanted to re-do her blood work.This amazed me.  At our last meeting he stressed her pain as being the most important thing, now he's saying that her kidneys look good but he won't touch her until she's been on a special diet for a month.There is NO diet that will completely change your kidney function in one month; however, it just so happens though, that the $130 blood work would expire in exactly one month and would need to be redone.  This, after paying about $40 for their prescription diet. Then I went back and checked the bill.  I realize now that he ALSO charged me for a Urinalysis which was NOT discussed during our meeting.  I was ALSO charged for shots!  This totaled to over $75 in charges that I did not feel properly informed about.-------------That was the last straw.  I went in to get a copy of my cat's blood work to take for a second opinion.  Dr. Factor met me in the waiting room with the bag of food, eager to sell me on something else.I told him I didn't feel informed about the charges and wanted a second opinion. He offered only a condescending attitude towards me and said "Well, I have some pamphlets that will explain it".  I said, "It just doesn't make any sense to me".  To which he, very haughtily replied, "Well, that's why I have a degree".  o_0Then I brought up the Urinalysis.  He INSISTED that he discussed it with us, despite the fact that neither my husband nor myself recall this.  I said, "Well, I'm not paying for it".  He said, "We already did."  I said, "I'm a customer asking you to make this right. I did not feel like any of these charges were adequately explained to me and to be honest you had me so scared from our last meeting that I would have signed anything". "It's already done. I'm not going to do anything about it".  To which he just walked away from me.I've never been so angry, embarrassed, cheated, manipulated, frustrated...  He was pretentious, rude, no compassion or understanding. I wouldn't recommend him for ANYTHING.  Just an awful experience and I regret ever going there.Oh and did I mention that he wanted to charge me $600-800 for the extraction?... Read Less

After bringing in my lil guy Jax twice cause I didn't know why he wasn't eating, throwing up, watery stools ( they weren't stools) and losing weight rapidly. I am grateful for the team at Woodland Park Dr. Brady, Katie, Clare, Nicole and Sue who helped me get little guy back to normal. I was referred to WPAMC.   We visited to check them out.  My little guy wagged his tail during the entire visit. Dr. Roasa and his staff have been more than accomodating to me and my pets. I went in for a routine dental for my kitty, and she ended up having to have a few extractions. I instantly felt guilty that I had been such a horrible kitty mom!! They assured me that though some preventative measures could have helped, they would give me the tools and abilities to care for her properly from here on out.
