I brought my dog in for a scheduled neutering. A few hours later I got a phone call from the vet stating they had to abort the operation due to finding fresh blood in my dogs throat and nose. They found the blood when they were attempting to insert the tube down my dogs throat. When I frantically got to the Vets they would not let me see my dog and told me I had to wait. I had to meet with the vet first and she seemed very shaken by what happened. She had no explanation as to how this happened but did suggest my dog “may have” bumped his nose on the cage while waiting for surgery. She then tried to say he may have a clotting disorder and took blood for a clotting test. They also said they were very busy this day. I think they nicked his esophagus while inserting the tube. Hopefully it was someone licensed to be doing this procedure since they were so busy. My dog ended up going home with an injury that no one could explain and his clotting disorder test was negative. I believe in my heart of hearts they injured my dog. I can’t prove it. But I can write about it. Read Less

I have switched to this office after Dr. O'Grady in Torrington retired. I am so fortunate to have found Winsted Animal Hospital. The staff is sweet and caring (especially Judy) the office manager is very helpful and caring. Most of all, I had to make a very tough decision to put our 11 year old dog down. The technicians were understanding, genuinely caring, spoke kindly to me and Dr. Battista was an angel! She was kind, understanding and took her time with me. She was so gentle with my Chloe and didn't rush me to say goodbye. One of the worst days of my life (and my kids) we will forever miss Chloe. Somehow, this office made it as comforting as possible for Chloe and myself. I would highly recommend this vet. Read Less

Just awesome! Loving and caring, professional and accommodating. Dr. Kellogg stayed way-late to do minor surgery on our high anxiety 10 year old puppies ear, and was so understanding when I insisted on picking her back up late that same evening so she wouldn't have to stay over! (She's not a fan of being away from home or closed in spaces...and at 10 years old you can't teach an old dog new tricks!) Our puppy is doing great; 36 hrs later she's back to her old self, feeling relief with the pounding pressure in her ear gone!
