Dr. Wasfi has proven to be a truly dedicated, conscientious professional in all respects. We have had several emergency situations with our Cavachon family member, Rosie, and during each incident, whether it be late in the evening or during a weekend, he has returned our calls promptly and treated and nursed our pup back to health. Always a good experience and reasonable! I've been bringing my furry baby to him since she was a kitten and she is 15yrs old!! My cat is probably 1 of the worse darn patients he has!! LOL She is TERRIBLE, I think she needs a sedative! LOL *She is Big, long haired, aggressive girl that tries to scratch his eyes out, (She really hates him) but he ALWAYS Gets her physical/shots complete with his eyes still intact! *Love Him, I honestly wonder if another Vet would be able to handle my baby with so much care, cause she is a real %$##$% handful!!! I have written only a couple reviews in my lifetime but Black Rock Animal Hospital is the absolute best possible place to bring your pet. Dr. Wasfi is a veterinarian genius. There is no better vet in the whole state of CT when it comes to general veterinary services. I know the office is not the best looking, but realize Dr. Wasfi is almost 75 years old! He has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 40 years! Give the man a break. He is not there to have a shiny office, he is there because he genuinely loves pets. It's also reflected in his prices - there is no animal hospital around that is cheaper than Dr. Wasfi. He goes straight to the point and won't order numerous costly diagnostic tests. DO NOT bring your pets here, they don’t care about animals at all! My dog went for a teeth cleaning and they gave him too much medicine and killed him! He died! He was so healthy! I’m devastated. I specifically told him I didn’t approve any anesthesy and he killed him anyway. He is an OLD doctor who doesn’t SEE right and hear, doesn’t care! CLOSE friends told me that he almost killed his wife’s puppy by kicking him in the mouth because he won’t start barking. My experience was good in terms of the care for my cat. Where the issue lied was being lied to. Dr. Wasfi stated that my balance would have been a certain amount and then charged me $200 more than he initially stated, then he denied ever saying that, and that I misunderstood. Within 5 minutes of being at this vet I immediately fell in love with the service that both my pup and I received. They truly CARE about animals and people. #1 priority in this business. Treated 4 cats that I had rescued from being locked in a foreclosed home over the summer.Vet was a bit rough around the edges but he saw them immediately, charged me a minimal amount, did free follow-up & really seemed to care. MUCH MORE than any other vet in Fairfield would do for me. Most said they could not see me for days to weeks. He helped me get cats adopted to forever homes. Read Less

I take my two dogs here for shots . Very affordable . The doc has always charged me a fraction of what these other clinics charge and my dogs seem to pull through. My German Shepard ate gum and another hospital charged me 7gs for 2 days of treatment . After that I went to him and charged me 2 GS for 1 whole week of treatment and medecine. No complaints here. Doc been in the business for 30 years he knows his stuff. The place is not dark and gloomy to my it's a animal clinic I don't know what people expect. A minimum that I expect from a professional is a great introduction and respect. I am complete disappointed with this person ( if a can call him a person). He could not execute a conversation as a professional, he did even know exactly why I brought my dog to be examined. I never took my dog to such a dust place and to someone that is racist. I just moved to the area and this animal hospital as just across the street. The first impression wasn't great. Absolutely NO windows anywhere! Neat, but gloomy and dank. The tech/receptionist was very, very nice. And that's where the good ends. I made an appointment for the next day. I went in with my cat and we were put in an exam room right away. The exam room was clean (I think), but very, very much in need of painting and fixing up. It looked terrible, like no one cared what the place looked like. I mean it was disgusting! I found the expired Vet's license hanging on the wall to be just a bit disturbing. Listening to 2 male voices cursing in a nearby room didn't help my comfort level... and I mean some serious cursing. I'm no prude, but I thought that was VERY unprofessional. I was shaking and almost in tears by the time I decided to pick up the carrier and not go through with the appointment. Very Highly recommend. Dr. Wasfi quoted me 1/3 what other vets were telling me for a tooth pull on my black lab. He did a great job and without any unnecessat hassles. Very honest and experienced. Apparently he was an MD in his native country but chose vet medicine and has 20 or more years experience. Only place i'm bringing my dogs from now on. Read Less

Dont go there , i went there because something was wrong with my dog who was only a month old and he told me nothing was wrong with him . I went the second time and he said the same thing . My dog wasnt getting any better so i went to westport animal hospital and found out my dog had a lung infection and he ended up dying and was fighting for his life the whole time ! Fighting trying to breathe !!! when he could of had a chance with this doctor if he would of really gave him a real exam ! Instead he made me pay the 60$ for an oral exam before checking him ! I'm really unhappy with the fact that this place almost killed my dog and after they told me they will make the insurance claim they didn't. Here's the story..... My dog (pitbull mix) had ringworm with only a few patches visible. After taking my this vet he was given a new treatment (without me consent) that made his ringworm worse. My dog lost almost all his fur and the ringworm was now growing in his ears. After a month he was put on the traditional medication and his ringworm got better in less than 1 week (patches dried up and started healing). Long story short after spending almost $700 I was told the they will send the itemized bill to my pet insurance... after 1 month with no refund check i called V.I.P pet insurance to ask about the claim. I was told no claim was made. I then called Blackrock Animal Hospital and they told me "we sent it to the insurance yesterday." after another month of waiting, V.I.P pet insurance wrote to me that in order for me to receive my refund they need the itemized bill... I just called the Animal Hospital back and I was told to just "come and pick up the itemized bill yourself." If I could give a half star I would. I'm really disappointed. Read Less

From the moment I walked in I felt very uneasy. The receptionist has no skills to welcome people, she made it feel like its not her job, very cold. So I was very uncomfortable before I even went to see a doctor with my sick pet. And when I saw a doctor I understood why receptionist is the way she is. The doctor was very cold, no compassion, just straight facts about condition and if I wanted to just put my pet down he would do it in a second. Lets put it this way, its all and only about money. I paid for my unpleasant, going nowhere visit and there is just no way I would ever come back with my other pets. A small hospital with carrying staff. Doctor Wasfi is really great; he is knowledgeable, experienced and most importantly not fake. I do not need anyone to compliment my cat and then charge me hundreds of dollars.It is not a fancy hospital with many staff, compare to other pricey places, but they provide excellent services and their fees are reasonable. E.g. I used to pay more than twice as much for teeth cleaning at surrounding hospitals. Highly recommend this place! Read Less
