They've become too big... they're not "hungry" any longer. Made attempt to have K9 seen for rapid onset of immobity AND not eating. Business "opens" (supposedly)at 8 am. Was informed by receptionist that Doctor doesn't come in until 9 am.... AND... that first appointment was not until 2:45. I have (or should I say "had") 5 dogs being attended to by this office and spend some considerable money there. Lynsay Baxter is a very unexperienced and unknowledgeable vet. I brought my doggie in because her front paw was hurting. Right away she tells me we need to test her for Lyme disease? Really? Then she poked and prodded her for an hour while my dog was in so much pain and intense. Then she gives us pain medication and anti-inflammatory and lets us go. I called her on the weekend which was 4 days later and told her that my dog wasn't any better and wanted to bring her in but she only said to me to continue giving her the meds and she gave me emergency phone number? Really? She didn't take her condition seriously and didn't offer us any further steps to try to get to root of the problem . What are the meds supposed to do? My baby was still in so much pain and discomfort . The next day my dog lost control of her limps and she couldn't walk anymore. Brought her in to another doctor in the same group and he sent us to a neurologist. They found a tumor in her spine but they couldn't do anything because she was on the freaking anti-inflammatory that Baxter given her and they had to wean her off first. That alone got the condition so much worse as it was a fast growing tumor .My dog didn't improve and had to put her to sleep after 4 days.Baxter contributed in her death. My in-laws had warned me that Brookfield Animal Hospital was responsible for the death of their dog. I guess I should have listened. Read Less

Wow, just wow. The customer service at this hospital is truly exceptional. Brought my dog here for a spaying and I'm still impressed how well they treated me and my loved one.Staff at every level, from reception, to vet tech, to vets, were all friendly. They were warm, patient, and above all else, willing to communicate. They really went above and beyond to make sure I was informed and reassured, when I had every reason in the world to be anxious and irrational. Over two days, we must have had at least five or six conversations, most of which was me asking worried-dad questions. But they didn't rush me or dismiss my concerns. They listened, and showed sincere compassion. They even called me at random times to see if I had any more questions. Now that's commitment!Their job is not easy. It must be tiring to hear the same stubborn pet parents complaint about how they're not doing enough. But these people hit it out of the park. I cannot recommend them enough. I wouldn't go anywhere else but here for all my dogs needs. Our dog was injured today and couldn't use his back legs, he's 12 years old so of course we called in a panic. When we arrived they were waiting for us in the rain out in the parking lot and knew our dog by name and had a stretcher to bring him in safely. Dr. Britton gave him a full exam and treated us like he was her own dog. They stayed 2 hours late with full staff just to comfort us. He is home, resting and walking slowly with assistance now. Myself and my entire family, have taken our animals to this facility for over 25 years. I don't know what has happened over the past year or so, but it is not the same. I urgently called tonight at 745, because my small dog hurt her leg and could not bear weight on it. I explained that I know you close at 8:00, but I can be there in 5 minutes. I was placed on hold for almost 5 minutes, then told I'm sorry we don't have time to see her. I was then told that a "tech" nor the doctor had the time to at least speak with me. I will never again take any pet of mine to this facility. That's not how you treat loyal patients. Over the years I have recommended them to family and friends. Never again. Clearly it's all about the money, and when its convenient for them. My animals are family to me. You've lost a long time "customer" and I will be sure to spread the word. Read Less

We currently have 3 dogs under the care of the doctors and staff at BAH. In addition to basic care and exams, we have also required emergency care and boarding services. There has not been a time when we have taken a pet in and the staff has been anything less than extremely welcoming, efficient and courteous. We are welcomed by name, and are pets are always  cheerfully greeted. The doctors and vet techs are thorough and understanding and patient. And without a doubt, the tiniest of the dogs thoroughly enjoys all the love and attention he receives  during his boarding visits. BAH is clearly THE CHOICE FOR VETERINARY  care in the area. I am terribly disappointed with my experience with Brookfield Animal Hospital.  Several months ago I noticed my dog was scratching at her muzzle more than usual.  I could see some discoloring on her teeth so I call the hospital to get a quote for a tooth cleaning.  After a great deal of unwillingness to give a quote, the woman told me a standard cleaning is ~$900 and if there are extractions necessary it's typically ~$2000.  I was taken aback by this figure.  It seems extremely high to me.  So I called a few other veterinarians and found that is a bit high, but not out of whack with others.  So I called my mother, in my home state of Michigan and asked that she call her vet to get a quote.  A cleaning, including the same exact list of services as the Brookfield Animal Hospital (blood work, anesthetic, etc.) was quoted at $135 and extractions range from $10-100.  For obvious reasons I called the hospital back and questioned the price discrepancy.  When faced with the question the woman on the line responded, "Sir, you do realize you live in the most expensive area for veterinary services, right?"  To which I countered, how can this be justified?  Her response was "I guess people just care more about their pets here."  This is price gauging.  The cost of living in CT is higher than MI but not 7 times higher!!!!  Luckily for me, my mother was visiting from Michigan for the weekend, so I sent my little girl home with grandma for a few weeks.  I picked her up yesterday, with a total bill just under $300 and the problem is solved, with a savings of ~$1800. Because of the sad diagnosis I received about my Bella, this was the first negative visit ever for me at the Hospital. I have been bringing my dogs to Dr Dattner and Dr Bogurt mostly, but have been seen by the others on occasion. They are very up to date, ethical and professional. My one dog had so many issues that a different vet that I was going to diagnosed my Am Staff (Baby) with cancer. When trying out Brookfield for a second opinion, 9 years ago. Dr Dattner found what she really had wrong with her and performed surgery at half the cost of the other Vets office. Her quality of life was so much better and she lived close to 5 years past what was originally expected. Then there was Gina, my rescue Pit who has nothing but the best treatment at Brookfield An Hospital and at 16 is playful and happy, wagging her tail upon arrival.My Pug Odie has had 2 surgeries, one for eating a toy that blocked his intestines, almost ruptured. Dr Bogart performed emergency surgery on Odie the next morning and saved him. He was about 5 then and is 10 now. He recently had a mass on his leg removed and I added getting his teeth cleaned while put under already. He came out of surgery fine and the price of everything was less than estimated. The office staff is always friendly, warm and obvious animal lovers, from front desk to vet tech assistants. They have always been accommodating and have great follow up. I moved to Seymour last year from Brookfield and still make the trip to my trustworthy Vet. Read Less

I have to say that I have had some positive experiences with some of the vets here - so much so that, when we moved from Brookfield to Milford, we still brought our dog to Brookfield for his care.  However, we stopped going to Brookfield because they became expensive and the care didn't rise with their prices. Our dog has skin issues due to allergies and they were always so quick to put him on round after round of antibiotics and would really push their expensive dog food on us (science diet isn't even good quality dog food). The last straw for us was their price gouging... We were purchasing the Scalibur flea and tick collar there for $150 for quite some time and then saw it on Amazon for $20. We really didn't appreciate our vet taking advantage of us like this so we found a local vet that was more affordable. Read Less

Please don't visit this vet. We are an active duty military family and were traveling to Germany on orders. We took our dogs to Dr. Bogart for the proper paperwork and then were rejected at the airport because she gave us the wrong/outdated forms. I can't emphasize what a headache this was. When I called from the airport very upset to speak to the office manager she told me there is no way they could have done that and that you catch more flies with honey. No accountability. We were clearly told, by the USDA office that the vet gave us the wrong paperwork. As if that wasn't enough, which it was, the office manager was unbelievably unprofessional. Read Less

I took my 6 month old puppy on a Saturday for a check-up, the next day she unexpectedly broke her leg and we were back in bright and early that Monday morning. X-rays showed she needed surgery and they got her in that Wednesday. Not only were they prompt and helpful, but they made this whole process a whole lot easier on my puppy and my family. Could not be happier with the care my pets receive at this practice. From the doctors to all the staff. They are a professional group that truly care about you as well as your pet. The clinic is clean and well maintained. This is obvious the minute you walk in. The staff and doctors make it a point to get to know you as well as your pet. I have to say that everyone at Brookfield Animal Hospital really does care about your family members both 2 legged and 4 legged. I have used them for about 15 years and they have always been kind, attentive and loving to all of my pets. I had to put my 1st dog down after we found out he had cancer, they were there from the beginning to the end with Jack my sweet boy #1 and then we got Rocky who loved going to visit his cookie friends at Brookfield Animal Hospital. We have had Rocky for 10 years, then I was willed my mother-in-laws dog Rooney, he also enjoyed going to see his friends at Brookfield Animal Hospital. All the Dr.'s took wonderful care of them, they always explained everything that was going on with them. Rocky was not himself one day and I took him to see Dr. Bogart (whom I love dearly) and sweet boy #2's symptoms did not help trying to figure out why he was acting funny. She took blood and gave him antibiotic for his fever. Rocky did not recover from what ever ailed him. Rocky passes in his sleep in his own bed at home. Sometimes Dr.'s no matter for humans or animals don't have all the answers there are just something's that can't be answered. Everyone at Brookfield Animal Hospital really cared about my sweet boy and always showed compassion, love and always helped the family members with laughter or with hugs. I love them and will continue to use them throughout the years. We are happy to say that since Rocky passed on Feb 3, 2106 we have decided to rescue another puppy and give it a loving home and take it to the BEST VET around Brookfield Animal Hospital. Dr. Stephanie Bogart is fantastic!!!! My dog (silky terrier) Mugsy has been having seizures for over a year and half now. He had 4 seizures within a short span of time. The love and care that my dog received from Dr. Stephanie Bogart was so amazing. I called the office on Sunday at 12:30, the office was closing in 30 minutes ( l live 30 minutes away ) the staff told me to still come and Dr. Bogart will see your dog. Dr. Bogart took the time to educate me about my dog's condition, she also gave me all the avenues we could chose from to help him get better. I am a mother of 5 children and their health of course is very important to me and their doctor of course had to be the best! Well, I'm telling you all right now bringing your pet to this office is the best choice you will ever make for your pet. Brookfield animal hospital has the best doctors for my dogs and I trust my pets are getting the best care that they desire. Let's face it....it's like having 2 more kids in the house! The entire staff, from the Doctors, to the front desk are exceptional. This has been a difficult month for our family, with our 13 year old cat succumbing to cancer two weeks ago, to losing just today another beloved member of our pet family. Dr. Salvatore was exceptionally kind and honest in his initial diagnosis of cancer in our cat, and when the time came, Dr. Brittin was wonderfully caring in helping to end her suffering. Dr. Bogart today was exceptional in her care of our Grandmother's sweet old terrier. Kind and compassionate, she knew how difficult this was for us, and I am incredibly grateful for her candor and care. The front staff is always welcoming and compassionate. Dr. Brittin and the staff at Brookfield Animal Hospital are amazing! Our sweet girl had some very bad wounds due to a dog attack, while we were out of town. Not only did Dr. Brittin inform me of what was going on, she was compassionate and understanding of my emotions, since I wasn't able to be there. She even texted pictures of our girl to us, she wanted us to see she was ok. During our second visit to the office, many of the techs came up to Nola to say 'hi' and tell her she looked great. I wish they were closer to where we live, but we will follow through with all of Nola's treatments for this injury at Brookfield Animal Hospital. This practice tries to justify charging exorbitant rates by the somewhat new facilities with expensive bells and whistles. I am not a regular customer here due to the fact they really seem more interested in recouping the costs of changing this practice. On October 19, 2014 we had to put our dog, Maggie, down. She was just shy of 16 years old. Dr. Salvador did the procedure. He was so compassionate and kind. It made saying goodbye to Maggie so much easier. Also one of the vet techs made a beautiful paw and nose print made out of clay for us to keep. They have a top notch veterinary team, from receptionist to vet techs, assistants and most of all their veterinarians. Brookfield Animal Hospital gets a 5 star rating!!! Read Less
