These guys are great. The staff is super friendly with people and pets. My dogs are both rescues with anxiety and the staff always takes their time making sure my boys are comfortable during their visit. They're patient. They sit on the floor with them when my dog refuses to let me put him up on the table. They show a real care for these animals. We’ve been using Mill Plain Vet for taking care of our cats for years. We have found the staff extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The women at reception are very warm and friendly. The vet techs are very knowledgeable and professional. We have seen all the different vets over the years and found them to be caring about our pets, easy to talk to and they give us choices as to how we should proceed in our pet’s course of treatment . They never pressure us to have expensive testing done, but give us their recommendations of how to proceed. And when it comes time to have our kitty companion cross over the rainbow bridge, we are treated with compassion and reassurance that we have made the right decision. Vet techs and doctors were lovely, the dog I brought in is squirmy and hasn’t been to the vet before, they helped me by holding him during shots and blood draws. Unfortunately the reception staff wasn’t as warm as I expected, and I assume its is because the owner of the dog I brought in is surrendering him to a rescue organization who paid for the two booster vaccines. I had a lot of trouble keeping the dog calm in the waiting room, but was pleased when I was told I can wait outside with him and they would come get me. I have been a long time client with a variety of dogs that I have owned over the years and have always had the greatest admiration for Shelly and his staff up until last week. It was on a  Saturday where I found myself and my dog having to wait more than forty-five minutes frequently being told I was next. That did not happen- and I had to leave for work. No one called me the entire week to apologize and reschedule. When I called today to make an appointment, i was told I could go somewhere else and my dog's file would be sent to my residence to give to another vet. Wow, what loyalty to long time clients! Don't go here. They are rude and arrogant. Charged me for visit when they did not examin my pet! They refused to help me clean up my cat who threw up in her carrier. Showed us into exam room....Ignored my dog who was never seen and did not examin the cat. Did not know history on her but could give her a shot! Then told me to pay for a visit that did not happen and rabies shot. Had to pay bill to get the piece if paper for rabies. Bad place....Overcrowded and only 8 spaces to park in. Last Saturday, my dog Bello was very ill. I was not entirely happy with the previous vet, and my daughter and I took our hemorrhaging boy to Mill Plain Vets. He was clearly desperately I'll, and I feared the worst. A week later my best companion and loving family member is lying beside me, alive and recovering. I can dream again of our walks and yet un-tried explorations and of future travels with my best buddy; prospects that were all the sweeter to imagine his enjoyment of them with me seemed bitter and flat.Bello is alive today, with hope of a few more good years with my loving, patient, gentle good boy because we went to Mill Plain Vet. They will always be our vets from now on. Our gratitude is profound.The standards of care at Mill Plains Vets is of the highest. They combine professionalism and heart to a rare degree. They were professional in their expertise and integrity; gracious and understanding to my daughter and me; and, perhaps above all, kind and caring to my gentle, sweet boy. My niece brought her dog in to get checked out because her dog was limping on one leg and they thought he might've hurt himself and broken a bone. The doctor that saw the dog was rude and very rough with her dog, pulling on his ear, his legs and hurting him. Naturally if a dog or any animal feels threatened or scared they will become defensive, so her dog tried nipping at the doctor. Instead of trying to calm the dog down or being more gentle, he instead had the audacity to tell my niece that if her dog bites him he will sue her! I just couldn't believe it. My niece had no choice but to let them muzzle him! After the so called examination, he gave her no explanation as to what might be wrong with his leg. He prescribed some medicine to her and then charged her almost $100 for doing nothing! This is so infuriating that I had to write a review and let others know the type of people that work here. Very nice vets, good service, but overpriced and not willing to work with you. I went in with my Doberman to have her foot x-rayed and I was told that it would cost 95$. When I got the bill they took two X-rays so it was 95$ for the first and 45$ for the second. The x ray was also not enough information for the vet to determine what was wrong and I was told to send it to a bone specialist, at a the convenient price of 149.99$, although there was a possibility the specialist would not being able to determine what was wrong with her. They did find a coupon for the antibiotics that I needed, so that helped. I brought her to Noah's Arc and not only did they see me very quickly, but they grabbed the already done X-rays from Mill Plain and only charged a 63$ office visit, which they gave me a $50 off first visit coupon. I received a phone call a couple of days later saying that they would recommend sending the x-ray off to a bone specialist for 80$. All in all, I was happy with my service at Mill Plain but you can't beat the price differences and the way that Noah's Arc wants to work with you. PLUS they appreciate that some dogs aren't happy at the vet and use a no fear technique. Read Less

I went here based on recommendations and proximity to home. The place was staffed by disingenuous young people. They insisted that my cat have a rabies shot and when the doctor came in he administered it to her immediately before the examination. He then refused to examine her further when she became agitated and did not feel her abdomen which is a crucial part of the exam but offered to give her an x ray. A very disappointing experience with unprofessional people. It was the end of the day and there weren't any senior staff to be noted. I would suggest to the owner that he provide more supervision. There is a problem from the front desk to the doctors. Techs seemed OK but they were all uptight and kept reciting the "rules" that I was not "allowed" to go near her inside the office. This has never happened anywhere else I have been and I plan on going back to those places. The doctor seemed to lack experience as well as warmth. Read Less

Went there for my dog who had a nose infection.  Gave me some drops and 2 weeks later I went back for an eye infection as well.  Never took a culture of the nose and now 3 months later she had MRSA the whole time and now I have to get her eye removed.  I asked the vet to help pay the for the surgery and they said no.  Very disappointing place I would never trust them again. Brought my dog there 3 months ago for a nose that would not stop running. They kept giving me creams and medications, but never took a culture to see what the real infection was. Now I have gone to a new vet and the first thing they did was take a culture of her nose and they found out that is was MRSA, and it had spread into her eye. Now our dog has to have her eye removed! We have spent a lot of money and now even more because of them. Do not bring you animal there. Read Less

First time to the Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic. I brought our two year old cat in for a routine checkup and booster shot. Dr. Baruffo and the vet tech were both incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and gentle. The exam rooms aren't very sound proof so our cat was a little nervous/shy from barking dogs, etc. Our room wasn't the cleanest and was a little aged, not sure if the rest of them are that way. All of the staff are amazing. I can honestly say Mill Plain is the best vet we have even been to. Dr Steinmentz and Dr Quaintance both are very knowledgeable and are extremely nice to deal with. Our dogs have had a few surgeries and there was never any push for unneeded procedures or any additional expenses. they do a great job of balancing the needs of the pets and owners and in my experience have never put the needs of the owner over the pet. Dr Shelly and Theresa and the Staff When we 1st Came to you with Pepper I asked for God's best. We know his condition was grave with that 2 lb tumor on a 15 lb dog. I expected Gods best and I got it. You guys gave Pepper 3 great months of incredible health. I don't think he was ever that energetic, happy and hungry. No signs of any illness at all. You truly find out how great your vet is when you experience an emergency. Any vet can give vaccinations or spay/neuter but we have had several emergencies with our pets and our foster kids and are always so grateful for their personal care, extensive knowledge and abilities to correctly diagnose and treat every situation we have brought them. Dr Jean Quaintance has to be the most personable and compassionate vet we have ever used. The staff is always so helpful and friendly as well. They treat your pets with the same compassion you would expect from anyone caring for your pets. Best of all, we have personally experienced the entire vet practice giving 110% to save puppies, dogs, cats and kittens when they were on the brink of death. My Darla had serious issues with her anal glands. They ruptured and need to be removed. Dr. Steinmetz performed the delicate surgery. There were no complications and Darlas follow-up care was excellent. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic. We went there with our two cats and the quality of service and care we received was awful. For our first appointment, the receptionist made an error in our booking and sent us away after we had taken an afternoon off work for the appointment. Then, we found out that an unqualified vet was answering our questions regarding international pet travel. Also, they insisted on re-microchipping our cats even though they had already been microchipped by another vet. Seems like they were trying rack up fees. So, an incompetent receptionist, unqualified vet answering international travel questions and unnecessary billable work. I wouldn't trust Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic with the health of our little guys! Read Less
