Dr. Lambert is a terrific general practitioner, experienced, and extremely hard working. He and the other doctors at this practice seem to have many satisfied clients, so they are often very busy. They can usually get you and your pet in a heck of a lot sooner than the human hospital can, but you should call or email ahead of time to make an appointment. While I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Lambert, I will have to rate low due to my extreme disappointment in the events that took place a couple months ago. My dog had been a patient for 13 years, and she became ill on Saturday September 10. We called the vet and they refused to see her. I had to bring my dog to the emergency vet clinic in Bolton where she stayed over night. Ultimately I had to put my dog down on September 11. My mother and I ended up switching vets with our other dog because of the lack of compassion, and lack of concern that the staff had for my dog. Read Less

Dr Lambert is terrific! I take my dog there regularly, but when he had a sports injury on his knee, doc operated, was exceedingly thorough about his medications and how I should care for the dog at home. On his last visit pertaining to the surgery, Dr. Lambert trimmed the fur on my dogs feet as it had grown due to lack of excercise and going out. Doc said he didn't want his to slip. While he was at it, he cut a few mats that were just hanging around. The time he takes is worth the wait. Folks, this guy really cares! Read Less

I recently was put out of work for over a month for a back injury. Specifically a compression fracture in my lower spine. My dog Rex was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and is unable to take oral medication, so he must go to the vet and get shots 2x a week. QV-vet has been very...very accommodating to my schedule and limitations due to my injury. He currently has 4 shots left at $20 a shot. Today I was shocked when I limpd and hobbled my way inside to the staff telling me that the rest of his shots were "covered" and they picked me and Rex for a Charity. I'm still fighting with workmans comp, and have no source of income atm... This is an amazing act of kindness and is more helpful than they will ever know, and I thank each of the staff that has helped me and Rex recently and over the years. Will always go to and recommend. Very disappointed in QVVH!   We have been clients there for many years & today when one of my dogs was not feeling well, I was told we are booked!  Really!  What kind of vet can't squeeze in one sick visit!  I'm hoping my dog gets over her illness quickly!  I'm certainly gonna look for another vet!  In 15 years this has happened 4 times!   Twice I ended up losing my beloved dog!   Dr Lambert start caring like you did so many years ago!  I think it's all about the money !!!  I'm so disgusted with the treatment I received, I will never recommend this place again!  When I call for a sick visit, it's because someone really is ill! I'm not an alarmist!   I'm no longer a supporter of Dr. Lambert!   I used to recommend him to many people, but after this episode, I'm not making any suggestions! Read Less

Not fun when you go to a vet and they totally jump all over you .  I have never been a confrontational person, and I certainly did not deserve such a unprofessional manner in which I was treated by Dr. Lambert.  Perhaps he was having a bad day, but to be told that you are simply NOT very important as a customer of many years, it kind of makes you sad that you wasted your time at this practice.  He does seem more interested in the animals that are covered by full insurance, and medicating dogs for life.  I would not recommend him at this point to anyone. We would like to thank Dr Lambert and his staff for everything they have done to help Nikki through her last 15 months of life. Many phone calls and visits. They were always very understanding and gave Nikki the best care she could have had. Today was a very hard day for us when we had to make a tough decision. I would not recommend using Quinebaug Valley Vet to my worst enemy. They rushed forward into a surgery with my dog that wasn't necessary and it almost killed her and cost us thousands of dollars at an emergency vet. Dr. Lambert has been caring for my pets since before he had his own practice. Dr. Lambert has always, always, greeted my pets and made them feel comfortable with his attention, talks to them, pets them, etc. His attention to detail is awesome. As he is examining them, either for their annual checkup for for some other issue, he is talking to me explaining everything so I can understand. His decisions about treatment are always as practical as possible, it's not all about money. When we had to say goodbye to our potbelly pigs over a year ago, he was so kind and helpful throughout the entire process, and went extremely above and beyond what would be expected. I have been taking my pets to Dr. Lambert for years now. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable and the office is clean and bright. My small dog, who is now close to 15 years, is always so nervous to visit, and the staff acknowledges this and is always so reassuring. Dr. Lambert always includes an oral exam for my pets. His abililty to remove tartar from my cat is nothing short of amazing! I will say that the one time I had to wait for my appointment, it was obvious that the clinic had several emergency situations going on, including an entire family in one of the waiting rooms with a beloved pet gravely ill. Dr Lambert is truly amazing. I've never met a vet that cares so deeply about their patients. There have been numerous occasions when my Bentley needed immediate medical attention and Dr Lambert has either fit me into his busy work schedule or even come in on his day off just so that he could help us. He not only takes excellent care of Bentley, but he also always finds a way to calm me down and assure me that Bentley was in the best hands possible. He takes the time to answer any questions I have and there has never been a time when I didn't leave there breathing a huge sigh of relief. Thank you for everything you do Dr Lambert! Bentley and I would be lost without you! The staff there is also wonderful. You can tell how much they all love their job and all of the animals that come through those doors. They never fail to have a smile on and provide Bentley with tons of love. I am especially grateful for the veterinary assistant Shannon Nicola. I always know that I can call her when I need help or have questions with Bentley and even when she doesn't have the answer right away, she always gets back to me! She always goes above and beyond and she is the absolute best. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment. There is no other place I would ever bring my Bentley or any of my future pets. I feel very confident using Dr. David Lambert.Coming from MA, and living now in the Quiet Corner of CT, I tried several vets in the area. I needed to see who I would feel best taking care of my chocolate lab- a best friend of 12 years, who'd already survived a bout of cancer when she was young. Upon a recommendation from another lover of labs, I tried David- a 30 minute drive. Three years later, I still feel he is the right choice for my pup. If you should ever have a problem with the office staff- keep trying until you get the answer you need/ want. Sometimes they are in a "protective" mode, and stand between you and the doctor. They mean no harm, but it can be frustrating- same as in a regular physician's office. For me, this vet is worth the long(ish) drive, and I've been dealing with my animal's doctors for over forty years. Good luck! Read Less
