PROFESSIONAL. Dr. Bell diagnosed my last lab's illness with a few simple lab tests... that was after we spent over a thousand for an emergency animal hospital over night stay in Springfield! I have been bringing my cats to Dr. Bell for over 30 years. For 20 of those I traveled from New York! Dr. Bell is truly devoted to the patients he takes care of, and his expertise is what makes him in my opinion, the best there is. Worst experience with a so-called professional of any kind. The girls in the office were extremely rude, and the vet himself was very uninformative, rude, and very inappropriate with my wife making her extremely uncomfortable, constantly calling her "mama". Wouldn't answer any questions saying " Stop asking me questions, I can't answer any of your silly questions mama, so go home and do your homework mama". He also told her that it wasn't his job to answer her questions and that it was her responsibility to go home and look it up herself on the internet. To say she couldn't wait to get out of there from the time she walked in and dealt with the girl in the front office (which not a single one of them was at all pleasant) to the creepy doctor speaking to her in a manner that any woman would be offended by, would be an understatement. Please be aware that going there would be a huge mistake, because you will be treated like trash, and will leave feeling violated by the Dr and then spoken to like an inconvenience and that you and your pets do not matter. Our family has brought our dogs and cats to Dr. Bell at Freshwater for years. He knows we would do anything for our animals. Our cat's health declined quickly over the last week, slipping into a coma Thursday morning. Our cat was clearly suffering (she was diagnosed with untreatable cancer about a month before) and we made the heartbreaking decision to put her down. Instead, he insisted on giving her an X-ray and blood work and said she had a "massive infection" (never specified what kind of infection) and gave her shots to treat it. After suffering two more unnecessary days she passed away and they made $400 off of needless tests and treatments. We are heartbroken and we will be finding a new vet. I live in Massachusetts and pass many veterinary hospitals on my way to Enfield, but I have been going to Freshwater Veterinary Hospital for about 15 years now and have always been very happy with the care Dr. Bell and his staff have given us over the years.
