If I could give them zero stars I would. Let's start off with The person who answered the phone, Tina, she answered the phone with an attitude and said "Essex".  But I brush that off and asked her if they can perform an x-ray on my puppy who was limping. She asked me what was wrong with my dogs paw after I already told her she was limping. I told her my dogs records were transferred to this vet, and then she told me because my dog was not a patient there I had to go somewhere else. Once I got it through to her that my dog was a patient there she very rudely said she was going to go talk to the vet to see if he wanted to stay later ( I called 40 minutes before they closed). When she finally took me off hold she told me the doctor went out to dinner. I'm sorry your vet says you close at six why is the doctor leaving to go out to dinner. I am not very impressed and I will never go to the Essex veterinarian clinic again. I am appalled by their customer service. Oh where to begin? I ended my relationship with this vet after two pretty disturbing mistakes.1. Vet pointed out flaking skin on my cats back, and said he was too fat and not properly grooming. I said that she was mistaken, that I see my cat groom that area often, and yes he is on a diet. She stated that I was wrong, that he was fat, resulting in bad grooming. She made no suggestions about food, diet or exercise. Two days later I found fleas on kitty which were missed at the vet! That is why his skin was irritated. 2. He had a bump on his forehead which looked odd so I opted to have it sampled and tested. I was told it would be sent to a lab and I'd get results in a week. After more than a week with no notice from the vet I called. After much shuffling paper, putting me on hold, and muffled voices, I was told that I must have misunderstood. They had looked at the sample under a microscope while I was still at the vet. It was fine. So, um, what are the "tests" I paid for and why did I have to wait a nervous week? Turns out that this was another irritation from the fleas. Other yucky-ness. There was another vet whom I loved and the reason I had switched vets to this place to begin with. I was told he had moved to one of their other locations, more than an hour away. This was not the case. Turns out he left their practice completely. Also, they don't advise patients to get the new yearly rabies vaccine made for cats. The old vaccine is a three year, and has been seen to cause cancer. Done Read Less

I can't say enough about how we were treated last night. Our dog of 10 years passed away unexpectedly. Our regular vet suggested we put him in an ice freezer out behind their clinic. We were horrified. When we called Essex they were awesome. And from the minute we walked in felt like they really cared... Even though we had never been to their office before. From the receptionist to the vet they made a really hard situation easier. I thought it would be a big bill for late night emergency service. But we were only charged $61. I am still in disbelief by that. I wish we lived closer and they would be our regular vet. So appreciative they offer the services they do and gave us a chance to say goodbye to our guy and not be left with the only option to just drop him off in an ice freezer. Read Less
