They're awesome. They're not like other vets we've been to. Each doctor is kind and caring and very well trained. I find their clinical skills to be excellent, and the front office staff is delightful. Vet care is, as we all know, very expensive. I started searching for a different kind of vet 2 years ago when I was tired of not receiving adequate options for situations we couldn't afford - I understand that many treatments are "best", but at these medical prices we can't always do the ideal. I wanted the information I needed to pick and choose which interventions and treatments were critical and which I could responsibly skip and monitor conditions instead. I LOVE MANCHESTER VET! I would do anything my animals need, but I can't run out of money either. They give me the information I need to make responsible, healthy, educated decisions about my pets' healthcare. Read Less

I love this place. Every single encounter I have had here so far has been so pleasant. The staff is patient, work with your scheduling/financial needs, and they seem to really love my cat like I do. From the minute you walk in the door to Manchester Veterinary Clinic or call them on the phone you are a part of their family. I have been talking our dogs to them since 1997 and have always had very positive experiences with all of the staff. My 6 month old Great Dane broke his toe 9 weeks ago and they have taken such great care of him thru the whole ordeal . It has been very tough keeping a puppy so restful for nine weeks now but we are getting thru it . Dr Allen is so helpful with suggestions and very compassionate with the way she talks to us . My kitty had full-mouth dental extractions. The vets were great about answering all my questions about the procedure and recovery. Dr. Atz has been particularly helpful in assisting with her recovery, taking the time to thoroughly examine her in his calm, quiet manner, which works really well for my skittish kitty. Like others, I can't say enough good things about this practice. First, let me tell you that my pets and I have seen lots of Vets in the Central CT area in the past 30 years. The Vets that I have seen here are among the few most thorough and skilled I have found, and to say I am very discerning is an understatement. :-D I am continually astounded how they can get me in to see someone even the same or the next day! Today I called at 3:30PM and was able to see Dr. Smedley at 6:20PM!!! This goes way beyond my expectations! I am most familiar with Dr. Soutter and have seen Dr. Atz, Dr. B, and Dr. Smedley here and there, and trust them completely. And... that's saying a lot for me. I've had one cat have a vaccine reaction at another clinic and almost die, another cat go blind from Baytril and then not even have that veterinary Doctor notice at another clinic, among other incidents. Not an afterthought, as the staff is just as wonderful. I drive about 40 minutes to get there. My only complaint is that I don't see one of my pets in the photos... :-DRead Less

We brought our rescue here for her first visit. As soon as you walk through the door, you are greeted in a friendly, professional manner. The office is very clean, has no odor, and is bright & cheerful! The exam room was bigger then I expected, and gave room for 4 people plus a medium dog. The Vet. Assistant & Vet were very friendly, kind, fun, professional people. They took the time to explain everything, gave plenty of time to ask questions, and we didn't feel rushed at all! I can't say enough about the quality of service we have received! The office staff was warm and welcoming, and actually went out of their way to get us in early by following up on their cancellation list. Our new rescue dog felt right at home--lots of TLC in this establishment, for both the animal and the human parent! We have seen Dr. Allen twice now, and she is incredible. She takes the time to educate the pet-owner (in fact, she is quite passionate about it!), and she is wonderful with the animals, as is the rest of her team that I've met so far. I fully trust her professional decisions regarding vaccinations, long-term maintenance and care, etc. Additionally, she genuinely cares about our experience at home and pointed us in the right direction with dog training, day care programs, etc. She is even open to discussing healthcare / maintenance routines further via phone so we don't feel rushed in the office. I have seen my share of veterinarians, and (especially being new to the area) I was worried about finding someone we can trust. How grateful we are to have found this wonderful veterinary clinic! On a friend's recommendation, we made our first visit to MVC recently. Our visit was quick and painless both for us and our kitty (we think..)The facility is well-lit and clean. Both the examination room and waiting area were organized and neat. Our veterinarian, Lenka Babuska, and her veterinary assistant, Heather -- were both friendly, patient, and informative. Together they made my girlfriend and I and our kitty feel welcomed and comfortable. Had to have my first experience putting a pet to sleep here, and they really did their absolute best to make sure the experience was as gentle as possible (answering all my questions and scheduling the procedure at a quiet time).Really helpful in providing care outside of normal business hours when my elderly cat got very sick right before i had a major, uncancellable business trip.  Provided medical boarding for me at a really low cost.My latest adoption is a young FIV-positive cat who indicated serious dental disease at his first check-up with them.  They said they could do his surgery but recommended taking him to a specialist instead, as they do not do much dental surgery and it was best to have the surgery done by someone who does extractions weekly.  The specialist was great and my little guy came through with flying colors.  Turning down business for the best interest of the animal - nice!I will say, yes, I do call for test results because the call does not always come right when they get them, but given the big picture I will take it. We moved to CT from the Boston area in 2006 and struggled to find quality vet care that offer both traditional medicine and homeopathy. We were very fortunate to have found Dr. Alexis Soutter through a friend of ours and we have stuck with MVC ever since. Dr Soutter has provide countless hours of care to our animal companions and consultation with us on various issues pertaining to our furry family. We have also seen many of the other vets; all were exceptional and caring in their efforts to address any issue at hand. We bring all 3 of our rescue dogs to MVC and all our rescue cats, as well as any fosters we may have. The vets are not the only great ones at MVC, the vet techs and office staff are helpful,compassionate, and are giving of their time. Thank you MVC staff for all you do for our animal friends. Awesome staff and prices are fair.  A lot better than pricing than Glastonbury.Bad:  Not as knowledgeable.  Probably because they only have 4 vets in the clinic.  My dog had an auto-immune disease that took several visits and several months to diagnose.  I often wonder if I had received a second opinion right away, maybe my dog would be here today.  My opinion is to now go to a vet that has many vets such as a Vet 24 Hour Hospital in Bolton, CT or West Hartford, CT.  These are the folks that see all the emergencies and have a lot more knowledge.  Plus they have your records there and you feel more comfortable when you have those emergency after-hour calls. My cat  was very sick; brought him here for check up and blood work. They really dropped the ball on this one. No communication. Never called back - three times - when they said they would. MVC is a top notch veterinary clinic! I have taken all three of my dogs there for over ten years. I wanted a vet who practices homeopathy and have found that in Dr.Soutter, who is knowledgeable, friendly and kind. She even gets down on the floor with the dogs. We have also seen some of the other vets and vet techs. They all have been great and seem to know my dogs whether they have cared for them or not. Read Less

I love this place so much. Dr. B is my favorite. I've brought 3 of my cats there. I love how they treat you and your animals here- I've been to other vets who seem to just not even listen when you are telling them your concerns or questions and just try to get you in and out... That is not the case here ! I first came back in 2010 with a cat who I came to find out late had leukemia and when it came time to help her along they gave me all the time we needed with her before it happened. They explained what was happening to my cat In a way that i could understand and answered all , literally all the question I had. They were very patient and kind. I will never go to another vets office as long as I live in Connecticut. Thank you guys so much for being awesome. Freddy and Dancer love you ! I was referred to Manchester Vet by my neighbor when I adopted a shelter dog last March.  He needed a full check up and shots as well as neutering.  We have since transferred two of our other animals over to the practice and plan to take everyone else whenever they need veterinary care.  I can't say enough good things about the staff and the level of care that our animals receive.  Everyone is patient, helpful, understanding, friendly - and the services are reasonably priced compared to other vets in the area.  They genuinely seem to care about my babies when I bring them in - especially my pride and joy, that shelter dog that first brought me there. Deb Batsie Our first encounter at MVC occurred after we took in a rescue who had been under the care of MVC. Within six months of bringing her into our home, we found out she had cancer and had to put her down. Anyone who has had to make this decision knows how earthshattering it is. Dr. Atz made the situation tolerable. He became a part of the decision making process; not making us feel we had to decide alone. He was there the entire time and you could actually feel his compassion fill the room...that was over eight years ago and now all our fur children go to MVC. Everytime we go there, everyone knows who we are.... And more importantly who are fur babies are without reading a chart. A couple of years ago....after our kitty had emergency surgery... Dr. B came in on a Sunday to discharge her home to us bc she knew how much we missed her. This weekend our other cat became suddenly very sick. Dr. Soutter and Amber stayed late on a Saturday to see us. Some places might have insisted we go to an emergency vet but not here. Dr. Soutter was able to identify what was wrong w him before the test results came back by her keen observation. We know she saved his life this weekend. After following her recommendations, FB looks like a new man again. Dr. Atz, Dr. B. And Dr. Soutter are brilliant, compassionate and highly trustworthy vetinarians. They call when they say they will.... And are always patient when I come in with my list of questions. Our dog is a rescue who does not trust new folks. He has never had a single issue at this vet. No issue is insignificant to them....if I am worried so are they. We are incredibly grateful to all the staff at MVC for their sincerity and care... And would whole heartedly recommend them! I've been taking my pets here for years and find the front desk staff helpful, friendly and courteous.  The office is well organized and each staff member is identified by name tags so you always know who you are dealing with.  Telephone calls are met with professionalism and reflect good customer service training.  The doctors on staff are caring and make every effort to be clear, thorough and professional on every visit.  If appointments are running behind, I have been kept informed of any wait time but have rarely experienced any delays.  This is the smoothest running medical office I have been in and service exceeds my expectations. Terrible experience Very unhappy with the vet my elder mother was scheduled to see. Not only was the older female vet telling my mother her dog needed a dentistry cleaning but she was saying it was going to be a range of 500-1000 dollars thats a huge diffrence. She was very rude to me and treated me like an idiot ive had dogs over 20 yrs . My mothers dog needed a dentistry cleaning and I asked for an estimant, Just a few questions and moments of her time was too much for her to handle. she was behind and rushing through the appointment .Our dog is 12 yrs old and our baby. And ive also gotten estimants from other vets in the area. They were hesitant to even put my moms dog under general ansthesia let alone spend hrs trying to clean his teeth. Because of her we will never go back and she was unaware i was trying to find a new vet in the area for all of my friends as well they lost not just one person but over 5 potential pets. She is very unprofessional and i would advice anyone who is in need of a dental cleaning for there pet not to go there. they shouldnt be doing them if it takes them that long. My 4 pets currently go to a wonderful vet in galstonbury and im very happy. :)Read Less

My daughter had a very sick cat and needed to find a new vet. She called on a Wednesday and was told they could see her on Monday! She stated that the cat could die by then and they said they were sorry but that is how they run their office-she needed a new patient appointment. I sure am glad that they are not my doctors. She took her cat that day to a Vet who said bring him right in and he was put in intensive care..Don't feel that the Manchester group is very caring at all. Read Less
