Ridgehill Animal Hospital is absolutely amazing. They clearly put animals above all else. Even though I was a new patient they booked my dog immediately for the emergency surgery she needed. The entire team and staff was extremely warm and calmed my anxiety about my dog's condition. They were great with following up and keeping me posted as to how she was doing during and after her surgery. They treated Zeppelynne, my Rottweiler as though she was their own, which meant the world to me. Also, their pricing was extremely reasonable to the point where it really surprised me. I am switching all my pets to them because they were so wonderful. I will forever be grateful to them for saving my baby girl's life. I would send anyone there. Read Less

Just to start off I had been taken my animals or should I say taken my dogs to Ridgehill animal Hospital in  North Haven Connecticut for over 30 years now. The entire staff along with the Doctors have been WONDERFUL to say the least Dr Goglia has been our Doctor and as he is semi retired he still performs surgeries on Mondays and still sees patients on Tuesdays.When the practice was sold to a good Man we all call ADI nothing has changed my family and friends would all agree as they go to Ridgehill also. Yesterday, I dropped my dog off in the am for routine shots, nail clipping and teeth cleaning... at 4pm I returned to pick him with expectation of meeting with the doctor who treated him, being this is their first meeting....we have been With Ridgehill for six years now and three different doctors, which have all left the practice recently...this last Doctor was number 4 and will MOST DEFINATELY BE THE LAST doctor my dog sees in this practice....for we WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!Upon arriving I was ask to wait in a room, expecting to have my dog brought to me and meet with the doctor...Door opens, no dog, and no doctor...instead I got the owner/office manager of the establishment...Adnan, who's new name is Ass Hat He proceeds to tell me that they had found an issue in his mouth and they tried to get a biopsy but they were unsuccessful in doing so, along  with telling me that during the cleaning they came to the conclusion that 2 of his teeth needed to be removed...as he continued to give me the run down of the visit, I missed the part where he told me that the teeth were already extracted....when I cam to that realization, I question him as to why I did get a phone call explaining they would be removing his teeth and or my permission to do so....his response waswas vague and could not understand why I might be a little disturb by this course of action...and no one contacting me, when I made it very clear when I had left in the am, I could be easily reached...at this point, I was in shock of how this was handled I just wanted to see my dog...but the real shock was still to come....normally they bring the dog to me, so I thought it was a little odd when I ask to go in back to get him....hmmm As I approached him, he slowly started to get up, still very sedated and groggy, but knew mamma was there...as I tried to put his leash on and giving him some love I realized his whole underside was soaked and where he was laying was all wet...here we go...."what is all over the floor? My dog is soaked....what the hell?" Not sure what that is Ms. Santos was the response... OMG my dog was laying in urine...and no one noticed... as I was walking through I saw at least 10 people in the back, no one saw the floor was wet??? Really??? After, Ass Hat realized what was going on and how furious I was he started to hand me wipes to dry off the dog...but NEVER once offered assistance in cleaning him up...at this point I just need to get my dog home and bathed, and ass hat proceed to tell me I shouldn't bathe him...Are you really for real was my thought...I could not get out of there fast enough with out losing my shit...All this at the tune of $685Went back today to pick up ALL of my dogs records and was ask to step into a room with Ass Hat, dude not sure that is a good idea...anyhow he starts to say how he understands how I feel....The hell you do...I can not even look at you much less speak to you and being in this room alone with is not a good thing for me, worse for you...at this point walked up to the front grabbed my file and will never return...PS, this place is not the cleanest...will never recommend this pace to anyone Read Less

I have been using this veterinary hospital for almost 8 years and have always been very pleased with the professionalism of the staff and their helpfulness. That was until yesterday, October 26, 2018. I had an appointment and arrived on time as usual. I only live 5 minutes away. I've been extremely concerned about my pet lately because her behaviors and eating habits have changed recently and I had a list of issues to discuss with her doctor. Well just because it was her annual wellness visit, her spot was pushed back, without anyone saying a word, and two others were seen before us. I also had the displeasure of dealing with a rude, unprofessional employee (Manny), who needs to learn to listen to what is being said and stop trying to talk over a concerned pet parent! Then while checking out at the desk, this same disrespectful Manny, ignored my attempts to have the person he was helping to properly restrain her pit bull that kept lunging towards me every time I attempted to approach one of the other staff to check out. The pit bull's momma heard me and there was no way she could not feel the beast tugging on her loosely held leash. However no one did or said anything until I yelled at her to control her animal that kept trying to get at me. Not only would she be liable, so would the facility if any harm had come to me due to negligent staff and an ignorant pet owner. The following day I took the prescription I'd been given to be filled but the pharmacist needed to speak to the doctor, so I called to see if she was in. Wouldn't you just know that the phone was answered by mouthy Manny, who once again would not listen to what I was saying and still kept trying to talk over me. The next thing I hear is a dial tone. Yes, the rude ignorant JA hung up on me while I am attempting to tell him what the pharmacist needed to speak to the doctor about. Oh I called right back and he hung up on me AGAIN!! Finally after the 4th call I get another wonderful employee, Erica. I asked her what was Manny's problem, starting with the incident from the previous day. Her response, "no one else has a problem with Manny so it must be you." The nerve of these TWO unprofessional people, whom I had never even met before, since I've been fortunate to have a healthy pet and our visits have been mostly wellness related, with the exception of a surgery last fall and some odd behavior earlier this spring. I really like the vet that we see because she doesn't rush and is really good with my kitty. But after my encounters with the kind of personnel they have decided to hire for the front desk, I will most definitely be looking for another facility that has employees who know how to talk to people, and especially seniors. I have no idea what Manny and Erica were raised by but whatever animals they had for parents and role models did a poor job preparing them for exposure to human beings. Ridgehill, whoever does the hiring at your facility lately needs to go with Manny and Erica back to the cave that they crawled out of. Read Less

After looking all over for a good veterinarian, I finally can say I found a place to bring my babies. Recently went to the horrible experience with one of my poodles (lymphoma ) doctor Fracasso she was really wonderful, it was hard but worth it to follow her advice. Today my boy is 2 years in remission and living a normal life. Prices are fair and the service is very friendly. For that and other reasons I sincerely recommend this place to all animal lovers. The doctors at Ridgeview Animal Hospital are excellent and Barbara at the front desk is amazing however all the other front desk receptionist are not friendly they do not have a curing bone in their body and when you are heartbroken about your family pet they have no sympathy the doctors need to look into this because Barbara truly is the only one that is an animal lover the other women or girls that work the front desk seem to only be there for a job not because they are caring or loving towards animals Read Less

Great Animal Hospital. Took imediate, emergency care of my 21lb dog that was savagely attacked by a 55lb dog in the care of the Owner of Halfway Home Rescue Inc., Stephanie Maselli. The staff helped walking me through protocols for such a case, when the Owner denied even being on the premises. My dog has severe anxiety around other dogs and people and will sometimes lash out, but unfortunately he requires vet visits for occassional urinary tract problems and bad allergies. I've been taking my dog to Ridgehill since moving to CT four years ago. The place is always chaotic and I have never called without being put on hold. Recently my dog had major stomach issues. Full exam followed by a week of meds and no improvement. It took TWO DAYS of my calling to get a response from doctor. Each time I called I explained that I needed help quickly because I was leaving to go out of town. Finally got a call back at 6:45 PM on the second day telling me to bring him in for an appointment....which doesn't do much good since I leave tomorrow. I asked to have a print out of his full vet records available for me to pick up in the morning since I was going to have to see a vet out of town - was told they weren't sure if they would have time to do it. Ridgehill has always been sub-par, but this was the final straw for me to switch vets. Read Less

My parents took my childhood dog to Ridgehill back in the 80's/90's..we had Dr Goglia back then. Since then, it has grown immensely and i now take my dog Zoe there. There's a huge staff of vets and vet techs...the receptionists are friendly, caring, and do all they can to help. The techs are also wonderful here which is hard to find when you have a dog that absolutely HATES going to the vet. Zoe is only 1 yrs old, but sadly has had quite a few health issues and we've had to make several trips to Ridgehill. She sees Dr Maruzzi who is great with her & we have nothing bad to say about the care given. The ONLY reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of Ridgehills high prices...$10-$15 more per office visit then some of the other vets in the area...other than that, i have no bad words! Lulu my pug gets the best care from the wonderful staff--front desk staff, nurses and doctors alike!!! I started bringing my 3 dogs to Ridge Hill since last year my old boss recommended it and I couldn't be happier. For the price and care and attention they give my dogs it's so worth it. I've had my fair share with vets and this staff really cares about your pets. There's a receptionist their I'm not fond of but other than that everyone else is so sweet and caring and always try their best to help. I've been taking my cats here since we moved to Hamden 6 years ago. Overall I think they're good and about average priced for a vet. The doctor visits are always relatively brief, but then we haven't had many problems.One cat has never had any serious problems, and I appreciated that they looked at her when she was sick one time, but recommended to wait a week since it would clear on its own (it did- saving me money, and avoiding unnecessary treatment). I also like that they don't try to push vaccines she doesn't need (she's a 99.9% indoor cat). My other kitty got a urinary tract infection and stayed there overnight. They were fantastic about it and he got better quickly. When he was killed by a car shortly thereafter, the staff arranged for his cremation and gave us a free "pawprint" to remember him by.all in all a good place Read Less

In reading some of these reviews, it's hard to believe we're all talking about the same animal hospital.  I love this place and have had nothing but positive experiences.  The doctors are great and I love the staff.  They are friendly and wonderful with the animals. Adnan, who runs the hospital, is kind, caring, and compassionate.  As a lifelong pet parent, I've had my share of bad experiences with animal hospitals and am so grateful to have found Ridgehill.  While the ride is now a bit longer since I've moved, I will gladly drive past countless other animal hospitals to get there.  When one of my animals was awaiting surgery, from which he, unfortunately, never recovered, Adnan allowed me to visit twice each day, provided me with a treatment room, and allowed me to stay for as long as I wanted to.  The last few days of my little guy's life were very difficult but he knew he was loved right up to the end and I don't know of many places that would have been so accommodating.  I was shown so much kindness and support after he passed away and it was definitely not all about the money.  In fact, there was more concern for me than for the bill.  I absolutely recommend Ridgehill to everyone. I have trusted all my animals to Ridgehill Animal Hospital since they opened and I have never had any kind of problem. All the doctors have been very caring and sensitive to my families needs as well as my dogs needs. They handle my dogs with kid gloves and they are always very gentle with them. They give them as much time as is needed and always have time for my many questions. Their follow up care is amazing. I firmly believe that everyone from the front desk ladies to the handlers to the doctors love my dogs as much as I do. I love everyone there and it's like going to visit family when we go there. I have many wonderful memories of the folks at Ridgehill who I have laughed with many time and have occasionally have shared some tears with. I took my dog here twice suspecting she had cancer, once in April, the other in May. Both of the times they told me it was nothing (though they barely took the time to properly check her). At the end of July she got worst so I took her back, they gave her antibiotics and an anti inflammatory (this one suppressed her immune system). After seeing that the antibiotics did nothing, they finish concluding she had cancer (4 months after I brought it up). My puppy was 11 years old so I did not want to put her over the harsch quimio treatment. I decided to only continue the anti inflammatory treatment for her tumor, but I requested to have more antibiotics since the anti inflammatory supressed her immune system, or to use another anti inflammatory. They assured me that many dogs used jt without antibiotics and everything works fine for them.  Three weeks later my dog  got a face infection, she could barely breath, we got her back into antibiotics but the infection was too spread and we had to put her down.I will never bring any of my pets back here to a place where I can recognize the symptoms faster than they do and where they do not take enough time to care about our pets. I took my puppy here on a routine visit to get some shots and informed the doctor that she had a cough.  He said it was nothing to worry about and it usually clears itself up.  When I went back 2 weeks later to get her some follow up shots she still had the cough.  After hearing her cough the receptionists acted like she had the plague.  Sprayed Lysol everywhere and made her go in a separate room away from all the other dogs.  Apparently my dog had a severe case of kennel cough that required medication.  If the doctor had cared enough to examine her instead of rushing us out of the office he would've known this and she could have started medication 2 weeks earlier.  Receptionists are nice but I sat waiting for the vet for 30 minutes only for him to just give her the shots and rush us out in less than 5 minutes without any acknowledgement of the cough.  Needless to say me and my puppy will be finding a new vet. I've brought my dogs to most of the local vets when they needed various shots, or check ups. I have to say this office is my favorite. I have been here a few times for my dog...just routine stuff so mostly I deal with the receptionists.  There is one blonde lady who clearly hates everyone, a new girl who doesn't know what she's doing, but one lady (with short brown hair) is super nice and super helpful and really good at her job (sadly I don't remember her name).  She is worth all 5 stars but since the rest of the people aren't great I can't give 5 stars to the business.  The vet I saw seemed OK but I didn't have any strong impression about her. I have been using Ridgehill for our pets since living in the area. They are fine for routine visits but recently I lost my Min Pin/Chihuahua mix on their time. I rushed her in after being attacked by my larger dog (Mastiff) and they did not try to save her, they simply said it was too late, it would've been comforting if they could've at least done something instead of saying "there's nothing we can do". It really hurt to lose her and I will certainly think twice about rushing here during an emergency again.Other than this, the staff is friendly and they always return a phone call. Read Less

Although the relatively unpleasant receptionists can be deceiving, don't let it turn you off to Ridgehill. Dr. Deb Goul is the BEST. She's knowledgeable, kind, and the only vet that I trust with my dog. My dog has had a ton of issues since being a puppy: mange, worms, dysplasia, torn acl, etc. Dr. Goul is the ONLY vet that I am comfortable with. I have been using Ridgehill since 1994, for the entire time my cat was alive. She remained extremely healthy all her life, until her kidneys started to fail. The staff was caring, totally competent, and extended her life (and quality of life) an extra 4 months at what I felt was a reasonable cost. When there was no hope, they were compassionate in the way they handled the situation, and she passed peacefully at home. The doctor AND staff sent notes, poems, etc, to show how badly they felt, and I know in my heart that they were sincere. I have recently adopted another siamese kitten, and there is no other vet I would ever consider - even though I've moved almost 20 miles away from Ridgehill. Yes, I've had a couple of poor experiences with receptionists over the years, but those people didn't last. But I feel these are loving people who are great at what they do. I have a diabetic 18 year old cat.Over the years, I have had many different vets I have gone "steady" with. I have spent upwards of $40,000 on my cat and have the invoices to prove it.I have been to vets at two in the afternoon and two in the morning.I have spent the most amount of time, and the least amount of money with Ridge Hill. My cat, who used to be marked with a skull & crossbones on her chart for her capability of violence (she used to be handled with thick leather gloves and several vet techs), now cries when I bring her home (emphasis -- HOME). This is Club Med for kitties.I recommend this vet to friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. My cat's name is Roswell. I picked her up after an extended stay to find her tag had little UFOs drawn on it. I go to pick her up and the staff refer to her as, "Roz". They call cats, "kitties" and dogs, "pups" and that goes a long way for me. There's a separate waiting area for dog owners and cat owners, and there's always treats to be had. The staff is always super pleasant, even during rushes and emergencies. They know my name. I can always expect a phone call when Roz stays for extended periods of time, and I am offered visitation hours. They also call when I have had to take her somewhere else after-hours.If I had to come up with something negative to say, it's that I don't always see the same vet (they employ several), but each one is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about my cat's history.As long as I live in CT and own pets, this will be my vet.
