I've been to many different veterinary offices due to moving a lot, and All Friends is the best I've ever gone to. We found All Friends when we had an emergency just after moving to the area and they were the only vet office who would give us an emergency appointment as new patients. After the knowledge and compassion we were shown, we won't go anywhere else. Through happy visits and heartbreaking ones, the staff at All Friends has always been wonderful to us and to our pets, and the vets are amazing€I've called about issues and the vet calls back promptly and answers all my questions and always has sound advice. They are good about getting medication refilled, fitting you in for appointments, and working with you to make sure you're satisfied with the care your pet is getting. I really can't say enough good things about them. It's a great comfort to know my pets are under such good care.Read Less

We have taken our dog to All Friends since we moved to CT, and even after moving to New London, I still choose to take our dog here because of their excellent service and care. It smells and looks clean, the front desk staff are welcoming, and the vets and vet techs take their time with my dog. Their online medication store for my tick heart worm refills is easy to use, and there are usually coupons! Highly recommended to anyone in southeast CT. Read Less

I've had mostly really positive experiences here. The vets are really knowledgeable and seem to love and care each and every pet that goes though their doors. I have 2 dogs and a cat that goes here regularly and they take care of them as best as they can. Sometimes it does get crowded here, but I'm sure that's not their fault. Read Less

I love All Friends! Dr. Tucker is just the best! I have two Chihuahua Beagles and they are super mischievous! I have been in there for accidents with my dare devil and for me just being neurotic because I feel something may be wrong. Dr. Tucker never forces things one me, she always listens even though sometimes I may overreact a bit. She checks up on the boys a couple days after I have been into the office. One of my boys is really anxious and she is just so gentle and lets me be involved so he stays calm. I could not be more pleased. The office staff is always so kind and always try to accommodate me when I call last minute. I can not say enough great things about All Friends. Dr. Friday was very kind, and explained things very well. Their staff were very friendly and attentive with my pet, as well as with us. I love All Friends. We've been taking our pets there ever since they opened and have consistently received wonderful, friendly, caring service. When our elderly animals have had to be put to sleep, the staff couldn't have been kinder or more understanding. Vet care anywhere isn't cheap, but I truly don't believe I'm being taken advantage of. In fact, both the vets and the office staff have gone out of their way to give me a lot of time, attention, and answers. I've been a loyal customer of All Friends for almost 10 years. The staff has always been very caring, compassionate and HONEST. We have a 1 year old Golden Retriever and started taking him there as soon as we got him from the breeder. I was surprised to see all new staff/doctors (later found out that they were under new ownership). Anyway, they have literally robbed us twice in the past month. Most recently, I was lied to by the vet and told I HAD to get kennel cough vax for him in order to bring him to the groomer (not true). I was also charged $29 for a stool test which was never done. And worse of all, I had "mandatory" blood tests done on Teddy which showed he was positive for a tick-borne virus called Anaplasmosis. We discussed the symptoms of such condition and I confirmed that Teddy had absolutely NO SYMPTOMS. In fact, he was the complete opposite... energetic and eating perfectly. Regardless, the "Dr." insisted that he needed to be on a 30 day round of antibiotics at $100 a bottle! She also gives me a printout with info on the condition. When I get home, I start reading, only to find out (via their own paperwork) that over 40% of dogs in rural areas w/ a lot of ticks (we live in the woods) will test positive for Anaplasmosis because they have been exposed and carry the antibody, but they are not infected. The paperwork goes on to say that healthy dogs that test positive should not be treated with antibiotics. So why did she insist that my perfectly healthy dog go on a 30 day antibiotic regime that cost me $100 when it clearly states in their paperwork that almost half of dogs will test positive and not even be infected?? Sending a complaint to the BBB for sure! Struggling families pay out of pocket for these services and we should be able to trust our animal's caregivers to provide honestly. My dog was diagnosed on Monday. Now 7 days later, I still don't have a written treatment plan or estimate. The vet just called to tell me they were sorry, but they had spoken to my husband on the phone and he has all the information I need. I don't have a husband. The only number they have to call is my cell. So I'm still waiting, while someone else thinks it's their dog who is dying. Read Less

I finally had it with All Friends Animal Hospital. I had to call four times today--after being told in a recorded message they ""check our messages every hour"" and would return the call, then being told by a real person she would call me back and never did (three times). All I needed was to refill the Methimazole prescription for hyperthyroidism (common cat problem) my cat has been taking for six years. Each time the prescription needs to be refilled, All Friends insists the cat needs another $55.95 thyroid test. At 5:35 p.m. I finally got an answer (when I called again, after being told they'd call me but didn't): they would sell me a 7-day supply, but I would have to come back for a $55.95 thyroid test, a $40.00 ""office visit,"" the three-year distemper shot ($19.50). And they would sell me a 100-tab bottle of Methimazole for $40.50--though I told them I have been buying the exact same bottle for $23, shipping included. For the 7-day supply of 14 tablets, All Friends charged me $18.26, that's $1.30 per pill--compared to the 23 cents per tab I pay online (including shipping). As if all this wasn't exasperating enough, All Friends' l-o-n-g voice options menu tells the caller they are open Monday evenings until 8. Imagine my surprise when today, Monday, at 5:35 pm, I was told they close at 6 pm. ""I will drop everything and race right over,"" I said. This was after having to call them four times, and before I paid the $1.30 per pill--for the last time. Fortunately there are other vets and animal clinics in the area. Read Less

All Friends was recommended to us when my 13 year old mix breed became suddenly unable to walk, eat or drink. This is my experience; Reception: Wonderful! They were so sweet and were able to get us in just a few hours later, even though we had never been there before. State of the Hospital: Beautiful & clean! It's laid out wonderfully, with a large reception area and many doors for quick exits. There were quite a few people there and I didn't have to worry about being approached by other animals at all. There was also an area outside the hospital designated solely for animals to "do their business". Wait time: I was in an exam room within 5 minutes. The Technicians. OUTSTANDING! They were super nice & caring, being very gentle with my dog and consoling me while I cried. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. LOVE THEM! The Vets: AMAZING! And very very kind. Our past vets, over the last 5 years or so had suddenly started acting like used car salesman, trying to get us to buy a bunch of unnecessary crap. The vets here never tried to sell me anything at all! Not only that, but they never rushed me, they spent a lot of time with her and loved on her a lot. They were very thorough and explained everything to me. Other awesome features: They have an in-house lab!!!!! I have never seen the costs of blood work so low! All the things we were charged for were more than reasonably priced, after living in California, I would say VERY inexpensive! I expected everything to be super expensive because of how freaking awesome the whole experience was! They also have "Pet Portal" an online feature that allows you to view and print your pets records, see when they are due for vaccines have prescriptions refilled and mailed to you even! There is a lot more about that site, it's really super cool! Sorry about this super long review, there is just so many awesome things to say about them! If you are military, and new to the area, I promise, the drive out to Norwich is totally worth it, All Friends Animal Hospital has set a very high bar for veterinary practices, imo :) Read Less

I have had my pets at All Friends for at least 8 years. I have had great experiences each visit, esp when I was upset about a situation. I had a 2 year old cat whom a ""neighbor"" had shot with a BB gun! The indoor cat would sun bath on the roof- I thought she was safe. Regardless- when I took my cat, paralysed from the mid section down, the doctor pet her and held her with care. Of course she could not feel it but the thought through what he'd done. He held her like a baby (and to me she was). The doctor was honesty and genuine. He'd explained the steps he'd taken for her in his care. Unfortunately in the end I made the tough decision to put her down. The doctor gave me time alone with my cat and definatly seemed to understand how hard the decision was. I worked for this place for one year and everything was great until we had a staff meeting where the manager, Lona Baker, told us it was for us to all yell and scream to get everything out in the open. Everyone yelled and screamed and some people were getting real personal with it, while Lona did nothing. They fired me because I ""created a hostile work environment"", when I never had one complaint against me from any client or worker and I had gotten my yearly review with a 5% raise and nothing bad to say about me from anyone in the hospital one week to the day before I was fired. Chris Melgey has no guts either, he came into the room to fire me after Lona went and said ""I want you to go fire this person."" And he did not even listen to my side, he just fired me and that was that. If you have an animal, DO NOT take them to All Friends Animal Hospital. This place is not thorough and only cares about one thing----MAKING MONEY ANY WAY THEY CAN. Most of the workers will talk about all of the clients behind their backs and even on the employees, this place really is a nightmare. DO NOT GO THERE! Read Less
