I just got back from the Redding Veterinary Hospital. As we moved to town not too long ago we still needed to find a good vet for our precious kitty Nigel.Dr Bolton is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. We brought in Nigel for a check up and he found a nasty problem with one of his back teeth. He had an infected tooth and It had to be removed. We had this done the very next day. Very convenient. Obviously not cheap but considering he had to go to sleep for it, It could have easily been more elsewhere.I asked Dr Bolton about vaccinations as well. He is not one to just go for the money grab and load up your precious pet with vaccines. It seems that so many places do this. Our old one did... educate yourself on this! We discussed live vs killed vaccines and the risks, how each cat or dog is different etc... It is such a relief to have a vet around here who has the best interests of your pet in mind. You can tell that he really cares. Their whole staff there is super friendly as well.If you are looking for a nice place to bring your pet then wow I have got to say I was very impressed. We also brought in a feral cat to be checked up, neutered, and vaccinated. They gave us a discount since we rescued him and they even let the cat stay over the weekend at the hospital there since we did not have a place for him to stay yet.Go support this place! Read Less

I would never recommend Redding Veterinary Hospital. Twice recently we have taken our dog there for boarding and grooming. The staff has been unfriendly and they have charged for services not provided, including an 'exam' after which we were told he is "doing well"...failing to even comment on noticeable tumors and any related health concerns. Most recently his bathing and grooming were woefully substandard by even the most basic expectations. We will not be going back! Read Less

Above and beyond service - when my elderly dogs were "nearing the end", I received daily phone calls and check ins, and the doctor personally came to my home to put them to sleep in their familiar environment. Redding Vets has a good rep., but today's experience should have been more professional. I arrived promptly at 2:00 to have my cat Euthanized. I appreciated going directly into the examination room. A man arrived at the same time without a pet, and I assume without an appointment. Dr. Boulton & he spoke loudly outside the examining room for 15 minutes, then the man left. The voice level was unnerving. When the Dr. finally came in, the procedure began. After the injection, I commented that Fluffy was still breathing. Dr. Boulton then gave more of what I thought was the same injection because of his comment, "Here is some more". After death, he explained there were 2 shots, the first being Valium to relax my cat. I wish the procedure was explained to me beforehand. I would have continued to talk to Fluffy. Afterwards, Dr. Boulton began telling me about Maine, animal hoarding, his wife testifying about animal abuse, etc., nothing having to do with my cat. I just wanted to leave. Read Less

I never write reviews for anything, but this time was different. We got our first pet ever and as any new middle aged parent, wanted the best for our kitty! Dr. Bolton was the answer to our prayers. He was the gentlest person who talked to us with infinite patience and answered all our questions, silly and sensible, both :)Our cat loved him as well and was very relaxed in his presence. He gave him his booster and Kitty didn't even flinch, his hand was so smooth. If I could, I would actually switch Dr. Bolton for my own physician! Read Less

To us Redding Veterinary Hospital is one of the best veterinary in the Farfield county area. I love everyone there from the staff to Dr. Philip E. Bolton & Dr. Susan E. Block. Every single person there has been amazing. They have taken such a great care of Charley that I can not thank them enough for the care, treatment and service provided by all of them. It is so true each animal in RVH is treated like family. Charley is getting better and I know he will be back to be his old self soon. I just wanted to extended my gratitude and let others know how amazing Redding Veterinary Hospital is. If you are in the search for a vet, I highly recommend RVH. I have been a taking my dogs to Dr. Phil Bolton at Redding Vet. Hospital for six years. ALWAYS professional. Dr. Bolton saved the life of my shepard mix with a ovarian surgery that was very difficult to perform. He gave her five years of life she (and my family would not have had). My rott mix has also benefitted from Dr. Boltons caring, commited expertise. I would take my dogs to Phil Bolton and his staff without reservation. Knowledgeable, caring, Shannon, Neda, and the whole staff are always courteous, positive and professional. Dr. Bolton has cared for two of my dogs professionally and compassionately. Seriously. This has got to be the most involved, caring and dedicated veterinary clinic we have ever used. We have used them for almost a year- We have two cats and three dogs. We've used them for boarding as well and the staff knows my dogs and my dogs are actually and strangely excited to go! They have also bent over backwards to get my dogs in during a family emergency ; we are very thankful for this kindness they showed us. One of the boarding staff members that I met after had a picture on her phone of one of my dogs while they were in boarding "-you're sparky and petie's mom!" We also recently got a new pug puppy and the staff has really shown us their true dedication. Dr. Bolton has personally answered the phone at the office at 7:30 at night- he knows who I am and what is going on with my dog- he tells me what to do over the phone - and follows up!! He told me they can't be there and let the phone ring. Well, I think that's pretty remarkable. The next day, as always, I got a call to follow up. I also called this evening after hours. Someone picked up the phone as the machine went on and I said my that my puppy was having a problem. Dr Bolton immediately got on the phone- told me why to do- Made sure she was ok- said he would call me back in half an hour and stay late to see my puppy ( and I knew he was sincere) turns out it was a passing thing. But I know I'll get a call from them tomorrow...."how's Eloise doing?" They are simply the best!... I feel I really have a partnership with them and that they truly care about the well being of my pets. We have had many animals over the years and lived in many places and have therefore had many vets. I would say Dr. Bolton and his staff- hands down- no contest -wins as the absolute best and most dedicated. Kudos to you for a job well done! Read Less
