RAH refused to do a dental on Dana W's cat because she wasn't truthful. Her father also said they would be right over to pick up the cat and they took five hours to do so - so they did the "abuse". She apparently is using THREE accounts to write reviews and she got people who never came here to give 1 star reviews. The truthful thing she did say is she would have her "friends" post bad reviews and all the bad reviews relate to this one case in which we refused her service. We refused her service. Not the other way around. Smart people will disregard her and the 1 star reviews she instigated. People like her are a major reason people no longer trust internet "reviews" - because they are not reviews, but efforts to do damage by people w/ an agenda. We have plenty of great clients who refute her every single day. People should simply go the Ridgefield Facebook page and ask which vet they should go to - people w/ an agenda don't have much of an effect there - they get swamped. Read Less

Called to request records. Male receptionist answers with just a Hello, and gets annoyed I asked if it's the animal hospital. Yeah... Can I help you?! Then asked if I'm really going to waste his time on sending such old records. They're not worth it. Explained my vet would like them, if it's not an inconvenience. I'm asked if my name is Shirley, I said no... He replies nasty Well it should be. (Snarky joke from the 1980 movie Airplane). I asked his name, which he says is Marvin, I ask if there's anyone else there I could please speak to, I'm told No not really as he's chuckling to himself. He asks which vet I'm switching to. His reply- well it's nice they take disabled people. I am not kidding. I'm astonished and just mutter up a holy cow... He yells Yeah that's exactly what you are, a cow! And hangs up. My records were later sent with a big hand written note across the sheet stating HASN'T BEEN SEEN IN 5 YEARS. After seeing other bad reviews on google I've since learned the male receptionist is the owner/vets brother Mark. Totally unsolicited unprovoked behavior. Unprofessional, excessive and hostile. This practice is negligent and inhumane. They left my cat alone in his small carrier with no food, water, or litter box for 5 hours. They were shockingly rude to me and my father, hysterically yelled at us and insulted us, and made no apologies for their cruelty toward my cat, who was terrified and shaking for days afterward. Cruel and inhumane - they left my cat alone in his small carrier with no food, water, or litter box for 5 hours. I had dropped him off for a procedure in the morning, and when I called to see what time I should pick him up the receptionist began screaming at me hysterically that because I had taken him to another vet for a one-time visit in the city, they refused to do the procedure. I wasn't able to pick up my poor cat until later in the afternoon, and when I finally got there he was terrified and shaking. He is usually playful and very social, but he's been skittish and mostly hiding for the past 2 days, so who knows what else they may have done to him. On top of all that they were obnoxious and unapologetic. When I said I would be writing reviews, they laughed in my face, insulted me, and informed me that they would have their friends write positive reviews to outweigh mine.I will be reporting them for animal cruelty. Do not take your pet to this place! I have never experienced such rude and nasty treatment as a client. I had been taking my cat here for 4 years, since he was a kitten. I recently moved into the city, but I still brought my cat here whenever I could to keep his care consistent. Last week, I scheduled a dental cleaning for him. When I brought him in, I explained that my cat had had a recent visit to a vet in the city who said he should have a dental cleaning, but that I wanted to bring him to Ridgefield Animal Hospital since I had trusted them in the past with a similar procedure. What followed was an appalling and belligerent tirade by the vet’s brother, Mark Heidinger, who is unfortunately the receptionist. His loud, sarcastic rant went approximately as follows: “Guess what, we’re not doing his dental cleaning here. You went somewhere else so you’re no longer a client here. This is ridiculous. We’re just patsies, we’re just patsies to you, so guess what, we’re not doing it! Take your cat and get out.” (Side note: I believe he’s the first person I’ve heard use the word “patsy” since my great grandmother – most likely because he lives with his 89-year-old mother, which he angrily and unnecessarily shared with me the day before when I asked if I could drop my cat off early). My experience here was never great to begin with; each time I came in they acted like they had never seen me before, and the vet is quite cold and aloof. Have been there 2 times now. I switched from another vet in Ridgefield that I had not had a good experience with. I had called my old vet To get my dog again because he had a very painful rash. It was nine in the morning and they couldn't see him until four, and they had at least four vets there . Dr heidinger got him in at 11am. Ridgefield animal hospital is a very small homey place, with a small group of workers that are all so nice and friendly. Mark at the front desk is wonderful, so helpful and nice. All the vet techs say hi, and are very friendly. Dr. Heidinger is great, very compassionate. Also I called a couple of times in between my visits, expecting to have them call me back, or talk to a vet tech, each and every time Dr heidinger himself got on the phone with me. Dr. Cliff Heidinger and the team at Ridgefield Animal Hospital are the best. I have been bringing my cats and dogs to him since 1985. I moved to another town 12 years ago, but I still bring my pets there. Dr. Heidinger is caring and patient... with both his animal patients and with us owners! He won't do unnecessary tests or procedures, and has a very down-to-earth approach when recommending treatment. He's been a local institution in Ridgefield for a very long time. The few emergencies I've had, they've always taken our little guys in right away and brought them back from the brink. The rest of the team is great too - some that have been with him for years, and some high school or college students that help out - they all are very gentle with the animals. They are there because they love animals, and Dr. Heidinger loves mentoring them. Mark, who keeps the operation humming, is so helpful and friendly too. He's always got a kind word, and will work around your schedule whether it's an emergency or just a check-up. They all know your name and your pets' names. And his wife makes beautiful little catnip ornaments at Christmas - stop by and take one or two from the tree in the office! Read Less

Dr. Heidinger is the doggy whisperer! He handled our crisis with our baby Lou with lots of great insight, patience, calmness and care. He called every day for an update on her delicate health issue and referred us to Animal Medical Center in NYC because of the expertise needed to handle this situation. Even with each regular vet visit, you can tell how much he loves his patients. He is also very fair as far as pricing. His brother, Mark, runs the hospital with him (we love you too Mark!) and each of his additional employees are very loving. Thank you for taking care of our baby like she was yours!! Read Less

Have worked with Dr. Heidinger for many years with several of my animals cats and dogs. Also have boarded there on occasion. Dr. has only done the right thing for my pets. I trust him completely with my animals. I don't believe for one second anyone who says he has ever been rude, not possible, it is not his personality!!!!! The vet. techs have also been great. I cannot imagine anyone having a problem with any of them. They handle my animals always with care and take them out and play with them when boarded. They look like they really enjoy what they do. I would never hesitate to recommend this vet. There are other larger vet services in town but I prefer the intimacy of this group and I have run into somewhat abrupt and even rude services at some of the others. I have just recently switched from one of the most disappointing vets, to this one. I have had the most wonderful experience here. I have an extremely nervous dog who will urinate if he gets too excited or nervous and I explained this to the secretary while my puppy was in the car. They explained to me that this was no issue at all! They let me into a side door and directly into the examination room. When the vet and nurse came in, the completely ignored him, as per my request. He got calm and didn't pee! First time ever going to a vet and that didn't happen. I was astonished!! The vet knew exactly what he was talking about, and hit upon every topic necessary, I couldn't have asked for more.The icing on the cake is that they have a website, and an app, that let's you access your pets information. From the dates of their shots, list of their medication, to making an appointment. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic! Read Less

Two reviews are not really accurate. It looks like ILLSales was never at the Hospital - sells internet local listings. Apparently the Hospital must have refused to deal w/ them. Look at her other reviews. All over the country and all negative. As for "A Google User" #1, the story is wrong. RAH never vaccinated the puppy, it came to them w/ distemper. Read Less
