Can I give 4.8 stars? Dr. Slater sees both my cats and my dog; she is a god send. She’s always willing to work with you. They’re knowledgeable, and even if you call after hours, I’ll always get a call back from the vet. God send. I’ve personally dealt with two of the vet techs there. One is amazing; she cares and gives a lot of good advice. Willing to work with your animals if they’re nervous or scared (I don’t remember her name, but she has awesome gauges - girl, stay awesome!!). The other one has left such a bad taste in our mouthes more than once, with more than one of our animals, we seriously considered switching vets. From being right on the money with diagnosing problems, to the compassion they have shown when I've had dogs die. I don't think you will find better service. I usually use Dr. Slater, and she is exceptional. Both as a professional and humanitarian. The staff are all very helpful, and caring. Great place...even if your dog doesn't think so. Read Less

Dr. Barrat and staff are excellent. My little boy has severe medical issues and was in desperate need of a dental cleaning. His primary Veterinarian was hesitant to preform the surgery. Dr.Barrat did an amazing job, and my pup is no longer in pain. I can't thank him enough! Read Less

Been going here for years with multiple animals. They are fantastic, yes, not perfect but as close as one can get, one of the best I've ever been to in 30+ years of pet ownership. Dr. Slater is awesome. The person who wrote that bad review just didn't take proper care of her Dog after it had major surgery, obvious the dog didn't have a collar, so go get one! And obviously the incision came open because they probably let the dog run around to much so the incision opened, you can't blame Salem Valley for improper after care by an owner! Read Less

I was extremely impressed with Dr. Slater at Salem Valley Vet. When she discovered that my dog's chronic cough was caused by a growing tumor in her lungs, she was very sensitive in communicating with me and managed my expectations. She was non-judgemental when I decided not to do the surgery on my dog, and worked with me to establish a monitoring and pain management plan. She always returned my calls with answers to my questions, occasionally calling me from home after the workday to ensure my questions were answered. The staff at Salem Valley is wonderful. They always followed up and/or relayed messages as needed. I felt they knew my dog and cared about her well-being. Read Less

on referral, Dr Baratt saw my dog for dental x-rays / possible abscess or broken tooth€when I called to schedule, they recognized the urgency and got us right in. I was kept informed when another emergency came up (but ended up not impacting our appointment.) The problem ended up not being dental, and we were given another, more accurate diagnosis. Just left and we couldn't be happier! We just switched to Salem from another vet in the area. Our dog is a rescue and has some issues from what we think was abuse from the previous owners. The staff did such a great job making Buddy feel comfortable in a stressful situation. Thanks for a good experience ! Read Less

I live in Salem and have 3 dogs of my own, 2 cats & provide foster care for dogs that are rescued from a high kill shelter in Oklahoma. I would not trust their care to anyone but Salem Valley Veterniary Clinic. From the minute you walk in the door, you are greeted by the most friendliest receptionists who make you feel like you are their only client. They make my animals feel relaxed and very welcome. Dr. Slater is so caring, knowledgeable and gives me & my animals all the time we need to have our questions answered and gives a thorough exam.
