I absolutely love Dr. Guzy. When I brought my cat in for her senior wellness exam her entire bill was $142.00 which included a fecal test, rabies shot and a full exam. She's a perfectly healthy 12 year old indoor cat with no issues so he didn't feel it was necessary to do labs. He explained that they only do labs if the cat is having issues or showing signs of illness which mine was not. She's active, eats well...etc. The only thing he said was that she's a little over weight and I need to stop giving so much dry food and to watch if she starts drinking and peeing too much. I loved that he wasn't concerned with doing unnecessary blood work because he further explained that blood tests can vary in a very short amount of time and you can have a perfectly good reading one week and two weeks later, your cat might all of a sudden become symptomatic with something and then another round of labs would have to be performed. He was very knowledgeable and I feel comfortable with the fact that when I go there, I know I won't have to hand over my whole bank account like most vets try to take from me. Dr. Guzy will only perform what's important and no lies! One last thing, I said "Doesn't she need to be dewormed?" and he replied "Why, her fecal exam came back fine". Another vet would say "Just to be cautious you should deworm every year and they try to sell indoor cats unnecessary shots..etc. I highly Recommend Berkshire Vet Hospital in Sandy Hook and Dr. Guzy came highly recommended by Choice Pet supply in Monroe. I came in there one day complaining about a local cat vet in Oxford wanted to charge $525.00 for a senior cat visit and I walked out. They couldn't even handle my cat. That's when I got the best advice in the world!

My cats have been going to Berkshire since 2004, and I was always very satisfied with Dr. Harter, who I felt spent time with them and looked to their overall health with true care and compassion. I cannot say the same for the new doctor, who always seems to be in a hurry, does a very perfunctory exam, and sends you on your way having barely looked at the animal. The reason for my last visit was that my older cat is drooling abnormally. Dr. Guzy looked in his mouth, said "his teeth look fine", then gave him a rabies shot and walked out.

This place is great! I moved to the area and tried another vet and wasn't happy. If you go to ANY other vet in the area, I urge you give him a try. So glad I came here. Dr. Guzy really cares about animals. I feel like his exams and treatment plans are always spot-on with the well-being of my dogs the top priority. I will be bringing my one basset for a teeth cleaning and his price is half of what other vets have quoted. Half! The vet assistant said it's because he really want to encourage people to take care of their pets, and not let expense be the reason they don't. Imagine that. Even though he says the only dogs that don't like him are rescues who have had a bad experience with men, MY rescue, who doesn't like most men, calms down as soon as sees the doctor. The rest of the staff are pretty wonderful too.

I really like Dr. Guzy. He seems knowledgeable and always willing to help and offer advice. Being a first time puppy parent, I had a lot of questions during those early months. I loved that I could call the office and explain whatever situation was going on to Nancy (the receptionist) or Dr. Guzy and they would be willing to help me without forcing me to come in for an appointment.
About the office/staff -
The office is clean and inviting. They are accommodating when it comes to appointments; I am always able to get an appointment on the same day that I call. They also let me cancel appointments with no issue (not that this has happened very often, but sometimes things come up at the last minute - or my dog stopped faking injuries LOL).
Nancy (the receptionist) is great! She's super friendly and really cares about all their patients. Every time I come into the office, Nancy and the other staff always ask me about both of my boys, no matter if they're with me or not.
All in all, I love this vet office. Thanks for being so awesome!

I found Dr. Guzzy!! We used him for many years in Milford. Then one day we went in and he wasn't there, no explanation from the staff, everyone was tight lipped. We had gotten a new puppy and brought her to Milford. She had gotten snippy with the vet and they new lady vet in Milford made me see a dog therapist because she said it wasn't normal puppy behaviour. Never did any other tests to see if it was anything else. I saw the therapist and they said she was fine. Just gave me some training tips. I switched to a vet in orange to get her spayed where they found she had a liver issue which contributed to her snippyness once in a while. They wouldn't spay her and said I needed to see a specialist in MA. After getting an ultra sound that was inconclusive. The orange vet was pushing she needed a $5000.00 surgery to correct her liver. She is a tiny dog and I didn't want to put her through surgery. I found Dr. Guzzy on the web and he reviewed her results and agreed surgery was not an option. We made an appointment to see him and came up with a diet that he was confident would help her. I recently saw him again to do blood work and my pup is doing great! He says that she will have a long healthy life with the monitoring of he diet and occasionally doing blood work to check. I am so grateful to have found Dr Guzzy and feel like he actually listened and had the best interest of my pup in mind. I travel a long distance to see him but it is worth every mile. I will always use him and recommend him to everyone. If you want a Dr that truly cares about you animal and not about the money look no further. He is reasonable. Him and his staff are top notch in making you and your pet feel extremely comfortable.

I have been to plenty of Vets, but since going to Berkshire i will never go anywhere else! The prices are the lowest i have found in the area, the staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr Guzy is great, and seems to know everything there is to know about my pups. i had an emergency one evening the office was closing, but they sat there and waited for me to come in so i didn't have to got to the Newton Hospital and pay an arm and a leg. You will not find a better VET office.

I just can't say enough about Dr. Guzy and his entire staff. Their compassion, care and understanding are remarkable. I feel so fortunate to have found a fabulous vet that will take the time to explain and answer all of my questions. The staff have made some very difficult times for me bearable and I thank them all for their support. Amazing vet and staff!

I've been going to Berkshire Vet for approx 8 yrs. Dr Guzy took over last year, but the staff is the same. He's a great guy, this is a great place to bring your pets. My dogs and I are very comfortable here. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, the office is very clean, and the pricing is very reasonable. They don't add on any unnecessary vaccinations or treatments, and are most concerned with the wellbeing of my dogs. I've been to other vets in the area, and I recommend Berkshire wholeheartedly.

Dr. Guzy just took over the practice last year. The changes he and his family have made are great. I have been a client for several years primarily due to location, at one point leaving since I was unhappy with the service.Now I couldn't be happier. Dr Guzy is direct and practical in his care and advice, which I really appreciate. I don't feel he is trying to squeeze me for every dollar. The small changes that have made, while maintaining most of the previous staff, make a huge difference making me feel welcome. There is now coffee, tea, cookies and a kids art table. This may seem minor but it helps keep the kids happy when I am worried about my dogs. The staff is really friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Guzy.

Dr. Guzy is the best vet I have ever had - and I've been a pet owner for 49 years. Not only an amazing doctor, but a beautiful person as well; very honest and intelligent, down to earth and discerning and trustworthy.
I was seeing him at Milford animal hospital and when he left, they wouldn't tell me where he was. I did several internet searches to find him with no luck until now. I am so excited that he opened a practice in Newtown. I used to travel all the way to Milford to see him and now he's only a town away!

I have been using Dr. Guzy (the New owner) for years when he was at the Animal Clinic of Milford. When he left in July 2014, I tried the new vet there but I found much more peace of mind driving over 40 minutes with my dogs and ALL my rescues. I have so many rescues that I am a regular visitor. I go at least once a week. Dr. Guzy's staff is awesome. And I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice.

After taking my cat to several vets, Berkshire Vet found the issue, explained it to me in a way I could understand and sent me home the same day with medication that is working! The new owners are great people and the staff is excellent. They even called me a few days later to check on my cat Spencer. Wow. I will only recommend them from now on.

I absolutely love Dr. Guzy. When I brought my cat in for her senior wellness exam her entire bill was $142.00 which included a fecal test, rabies shot and a full exam. She's a perfectly healthy 12 year old indoor cat with no issues so he didn't feel it was necessary to do labs. He explained that they only do labs if the cat is having issues or showing signs of illness which mine was not. She's active, eats well...etc. The only thing he said was that she's a little over weight and I need to stop giving so much dry food and to watch if she starts drinking and peeing too much. My cats have been going to Berkshire since 2004, and I was always very satisfied with Dr. Harter, who I felt spent time with them and looked to their overall health with true care and compassion. I cannot say the same for the new doctor, who always seems to be in a hurry, does a very perfunctory exam, and sends you on your way having barely looked at the animal. I will always use him and recommend him to everyone. If you want a Dr that truly cares about you animal and not about the money look no further. He is reasonable. Him and his staff are top notch in making you and your pet feel extremely comfortable.

Cannot say enough about Dr Guzy and his staff. He was so gentle and caring with our Tucker in his hour of need. They are more than just a vet hospital....they are friends! Thank you!!!

I have been to plenty of Vets, but since going to Berkshire i will never go anywhere else! The prices are the lowest i have found in the area, the staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr Guzy is great...
I have been to plenty of Vets, but since going to Berkshire i will never go anywhere else! The prices are the lowest i have found in the area, the staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr Guzy is great, and seems to know everything there is to know about my pups. i had an emergency one evening the office was closing, but they sat there and waited for me to come in so i didn't have to got to the Newton Hospital and pay an arm and a leg. You will not find a better VET office.

I feel so fortunate to have found a fabulous vet that will take the time to explain and answer all of my questions. The staff have made some very difficult times for me bearable and I thank them all for their support. Amazing vet and staff!

I would travel any distance to have my cats cared for by Dr Guzy. I find him to be compassionate and extremely knowledgeable regarding cats. He explains things thoroughly so that I understand and never pushes unnecessary tests on me. We are very fortunate to have such a caring man in our community to care for our furry family members.

I've been going to Berkshire Vet for approx 8 yrs. Dr Guzy took over last year, but the staff is the same. He's a great guy, this is a great place to bring your pets. My dogs and I are very comfortable here. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, the office is very clean, and the pricing is very reasonable. They don't add on any unnecessary vaccinations or treatments, and are most concerned with the wellbeing of my dogs. I've been to other vets in the area, and I recommend Berkshire wholeheartedly.

Dr. Guzy just took over the practice last year. The changes he and his family have made are great. I have been a client for several years primarily due to location, at one point leaving since I was unhappy with the service.Now I couldn't be happier. Dr Guzy is direct and practical in his care and advice, which I really appreciate. I don't feel he is trying to squeeze me for every dollar. The small changes that have made, while maintaining most of the previous staff, make a huge difference making me feel welcome. There is now coffee, tea, cookies and a kids art table. This may seem minor but it helps keep the kids happy when I am worried about my dogs. The staff is really friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Guzy.

Dr. Guzy is the best vet I have ever had - and I've been a pet owner for 49 years. Not only an amazing doctor, but a beautiful person as well; very honest and intelligent, down to earth and discerning and trustworthy.
I was seeing him at Milford animal hospital and when he left, they wouldn't tell me where he was. I did several internet searches to find him with no luck until now. I am so excited that he opened a practice in Newtown. I used to travel all the way to Milford to see him and now he's only a town away!
I have always highly recommend him to my family and friends, and am recommending him here as well. Karen Cheney

I have been using Dr. Guzy (the New owner) for years when he was at the Animal Clinic of Milford. When he left in July 2014, I tried the new vet there but I found much more peace of mind driving over 40 minutes with my dogs and ALL my rescues. I have so many rescues that I am a regular visitor. I go at least once a week. Dr. Guzy's staff is awesome. And I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice.

After taking my cat to several vets, Berkshire Vet found the issue, explained it to me in a way I could understand and sent me home the same day with medication that is working! The new owners are great people and the staff is excellent. They even called me a few days later to check on my cat Spencer. Wow. I will only recommend them from now on.
