New to the area looking for a vet to treat my best friend for an issue that we had  just discovered I took her to Dr Milos office whom gave her a look over made a diagnosis and suggested surgery and put her on medication that she was given religiously while deciding how to take care of the upcoming expense we decided to go for a second opinion in which we found out the diagnosis was wrong and surgery would have killed her. The second diagnosis not being any less grim seemed more honest and less money driven. I find it quite saddening to see that vets like drs have become more money driven and less concerned for they're patients. Read Less

I'm a bit of an obsessive dog owner.  I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Milos & the team at Shakespeare for more than 15 years.  My dogs have always received EXCELLENT care and treatment from EVERY MEMBER OF THE STAFF.  From annual check-ups, vaccinations, minor injuries and major illnesses, and even putting my dear old girl down when it was time, Dr. Milos and his staff have been professional, kind and loving.  I recommend them to anyone who has a pet. I've already left this review on google reviews, if you'd like to see the long version. The shortened version is as simple as this: if you plan to leave with a pet that is both alive and unharmed, do not bring it here. Bringing your small pets and exotics to Dr. Milos, who "specializes" in them, will result in you leaving with them in worse condition than you brought them. I've been keeping frogs for many years now, I simply brought my tomato frog in for a constipation issue. I have had this treated before when I lived in a different location, had no issues with the previous vet and the condition was cured. This vet's method was to "squeeze" the poop out of him, which then followed with him developing a full body infection in the next week, and dying. I should also mention the vet handled him somewhat roughly and even dropped him once. I decided to give the vet the benefit of the doubt, and that was a mistake. A couple months later we brought one of our mice in. She was extremely healthy and lively, the only reason we made an appointment was because she kept itching her ear and we were concerned about mites. I cannot emphasize enough how healthy she was. He killed her. He picked her up to examine her, gripping her far tighter than her body could handle, her eyes bulged out of her head and he dropped her limp body onto the table. Right there in the exam room, a perfectly healthy mouse was dead in a matter of seconds. He panicked and started trying to resuscitate her, to no avail. We walked out in shock and tears. I left a review on their Facebook and he got on and began to vehemently defend himself, even going as far as to twist the entire story around, saying "he exerted no more force than necessary to hold her" and she must have already been sick and had respiratory problems. She did not. She had an itchy ear. Period. Dr. Milos is in his 70s and it's my belief that he's completely losing control of his motor skills and is unaware of how aggressively he handles small animals, or is in denial that it's time to retire. I know I said this review would be short, and believe it or not this is the condensed version. This man should no longer have his license, he is not fit to be handling small animals. And even if he was, I still very much question his methods of treatment. Literally squeezing poop out of a constipated frog seems like a pretty asinine technique for treatment. It's also worth mentioning I have read other reviews of reptiles and birds being roughly handled and harmed by him - squeezed. Please do not take your small or exotic pets to Dr. Milos, because I hate the thought of anyone else's pets being maimed or killed by him. Read Less

Inexperienced staff who don't know how to handle pets properly and an insensitive doctor who asks what the big deal is when my dog was very sick(the big deal is my dog is my family) When I decided it was time for my kitty to pass humanely after her suffering I was asked for payment while in the middle of a euthanasia...I have spent tons of money there and never left with a balance...totally unprofessional and unacceptable!!....Not to mention they were late by at least 15-20 minutes every single appointment...I understand once in a while emergencies come in and things happen but we all work and make appointments for a reason!! Dr Milos is a very kind and thoughtful Doctor. However, in todays times when money is tight especially for seniors on a fixed income as myself, His office should not over charge for their medication. Most Vets in the area will price match but they do not. On 4/8 they prescribed Triz Ultra Keto Flush which can be bought for $8.09 - Shakespeare charged me $27.50 and the Ketoconazole 200mg at 1800 pet med is 7.26 for 4 pills where as Shakespeare charged me 21.00 for the same 4 pills. Overcharging me $ 33.15 for the two medications. Shame on them!!! They should do the right thing and credit my account for the $33.15. Read Less

I have trusted all my pets to Dr. Milos since around 1979 when he was still on Honeyspot Rd. My pets are my children, and he treats them with that in mind. I can't tell you how many times he has stayed after hours, overnight, weekends, or holidays to ensure their care. He has always been completely honest with me, and I have never questioned his professionalism or his advice. I tried another vet ONCE in his absence, and that guy diagnosed my dog with lung cancer. I was heartbroken, but totally relieved that he had been wrong. Over the years, I cannot express how grateful I am to have him in my family's life. He has seen three of my dogs through life-threatening situations with skill and miraculous care. My biggest fear is that he will retire one day, and although I wish him the best in his personal endeavors, I selfishly want him to treat my babies forever. Doc, you have my undying love and admiration.Read Less

Please, do not go here if you have a small animal. Today I saw my boyfriend's mouse, healthy mouse, get squeezed to death, in front of my eyes. Dr. Milos may have been in the practice for many years, and I can't say whether or not he may have been reliable in his prime, but respectfully, it may be time to retire. We brought our girl in because she had been digging at her ear, and we wanted advice on how to deter the habit. We had already done much of our own research and had a good idea of the minor problem - a form of mouse obsessive compulsion, which is a real problem. She was perfectly healthy, and we've never made a bigger mistake. He picked her up to inspect her ear, and squeezed. And then she was dead. He then put her down in surprise, tried to resuscitate her, and then tactlessly told us to make good and sure we didn't bury her in plastic because that's not biodegradable. And that was that. We understand that it was an accident; but we came for a simple ear exam, and left with a dead pet. I've never seen something so traumatizing as having our own pet killed before our eyes. We wouldn't wish this on anyone, so please don't bring your small pets here. I've seen another bad review of someone having their bird squeezed and injured by his tight grip as well. Please do not experience what we did today. Please look somewhere else. Nothing against the rest of the staff that we've met, they're all very sweet and sympathetic. But I don't want anyone to experience what we just did.Read Less

I have been going to this vet for more than 10 years- and every Doctor that I've seen has been nice- though I haven't been able to see the same Doctor everytime I go because they always seem to leave, which now seems a bit fishy to me. But anyhow, I brought my husky there who is now 13 years old.... there was something going on with her, and we found out from an abdominal ultrasound that she had a tumor (I had to go to the VCA animal hospital in Shelton to do it because they don't have the machine there). Dr. Milo's told me what was going on, he said he would have to do exploratory surgery to see if he could even take it out, that's fine- but I wanted a second opinion.... and another vet told me that he didn't tell me everything that was there based on the ultrasound- that she in fact had 2 tumors! He told me no such thing, which I was pretty pissed about. Dr. Milo's said "we can do this surgery, and if I can't take it out, then you should just leave her- and put her down." ...... Have you lost your mind old man?!! He said this with no compassion, he had no care in the world as he explained this to me- which is another problem for me as I love my dogs like they are my children, and I expect a veterinarian to explain to me everything that is going on with my dog, not just what they think is important, and to have some compassion and love for the animals they treat. I understand that he is old and has been doing this for a long time, but that's no excuse to lie to your patients, or be so cold hearted when explaining to an owner what is going on with their pet. Three months later she is still with me, and still healthy- but NO thanks to Dr. Milo!!!! The people at VCA were incredibly caring, I can not thank them enough for managing my dogs life while we go through this heartbreaking time. I can not afford the surgery, so we are just doing what we can for her, with the help of there oncologist at VCA.....the doctors there are incredibly compassionate, something Dr. Milo's completely lacks- which is not in the least bit of what I want in a vet.... I mean, is that too much to ask?? But VCA is a 24/7 emergency vet, so they are more expensive than a regular vet mind you. So if you want my opinion- find another vet because this place doesn't care about your animal at all, they just plain suck!!!!Read Less

I would have given this 0 stars if possible! Brought my dog here for a skin irritation he was having. Saw Dr Milos (BEWARE) and after a long story, he charged me for some medicine and an office visit, $300 later, and sent us on our way. We were back again in 3 weeks because my dog did not get any better, but worse! Milos suggested a "new' medicine which cost me $133 - for flea & tick chewable. He scraped his face (where he had the irritation) I was not told I would be charged an additional $39! All told, I walked out with another BIG bill and still no resolution for the skin problem. So I called up and told them my dog was not any better so was told to bring him in a 3rd time for the same issue. I asked if I would be charged for this follow up to the same issue he had the previous 2X times and was told YES I would be charged - $58!! The women on the phone was extremely rude and told me to bring him to a dermatologist! REALLY? I will no longer be using this Vet hospital! Horrible experience. Read Less

A few months ago I was interested in having my pet rabbit spayed, and I was told that one of the vets at Shakespear does indeed treat rabbits. I scheduled a general checkup, and the operation a few days later. The general checkup concluded (after some disconcerting talk of veterinary school having been an alternative to the draft) as such: Dr. Milos left the room, but quickly returned because he had forgotten to listen to her heart. That seemed like a pretty fundamental measurement to have forgotten, but he did tell me comfortingly that she had a normal heart rate for a cat. But she's a rabbit. Nice try?Needless to say, I did not take her to have any sort of operation. I have no experience with Shakespear's handling of other species, however I would be wary of their ability to work with rabbits. Read Less

I visited Dr. Milos to see about my painted turtle, whose shedding has been irregular lately. The first 20 minutes of the meeting were him aggressively preaching at me to release my turtle in the wild; the last two or so had actual useful information, during which he quietly said that it seemed like I was taking great care of my turtle, and that there was nothing wrong with him. He may be great for dogs and cats, but if you even think that the pet you were gifted might have come from the wild, beware.Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
