My senior cat has health issues, but is terrified of going to the vet (or anywhere), so I decided to get an at-home appointment. I'm so glad I did, and that I chose At Home Veterinary Care. Dr. Brenda and Ashlee were absolutely wonderful with my poor old boy. They were compassionate with him, gave me all the information I needed, and sat talking with me, answering all my questions and listening to my concerns. Dr. Brenda called me the next morning with the blood work results, and once again, took all the time I needed to discuss them, and possible courses of action. I am so grateful, and although my cat didn't enjoy the experience (!), it was far less stressful for him than having to leave home. The cost was also very reasonable. I'll be recommending these guys to everyone. Read Less

I am so impressed by Dr. Brenda that I am writing my first-ever online review. About a month ago our children brought home a sweet stray cat and started feeding him. Several of us have allergies, but he has taken up residence in our yard and our children have become very attached to him. I was trying to figure out how to get him vaccinated, at least for rabies, for our children's safety, and then yesterday afternoon my kids ran inside yelling "Snickers is hurt!". He was limping and bleeding from a hind paw and looking very subdued. I found At Home Veterinary Care online and really liked the idea of a house call because I think attempting to transport this outdoor cat to a vet would have been traumatic for the cat and us, and it probably would have been too late in the day to get an appointment anyway and Snickers really needed attention asap. After I called and spoke with her kind and helpful receptionist, Dr. Brenda came over within a couple of hours, in spite of being fully booked for the day. She examined him and expertly treated him for a severely infected bite and dehydration, and I had a lot of questions about that, and the various recommended vaccines and tests and flea and worm treatments, etc. We wanted to minimize cost, as we had not factored vet expenses at all into our already-stretched budget for our large family, and I was pretty overwhelmed. She patiently explained all the options and helped me weigh the choices and calculate the costs. She is extremely knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly (more than once!) until I had it all straight, and could make a decision we felt comfortable with. She answered more questions about caring for Snickers while he recovered, advising us on the best way to bring him inside for the night while minimizing allergen (and flea) exposure. She ended up spending over an hour and a half with us (!), and the entire time both she and her wonderful, caring assistant Ashley never made us feel rushed. Dr. Brenda has an extraordinary degree of patience and compassion, while being a no-nonsense, highly-skilled vet who inspires both our confidence in her medical expertise, and our tremendous appreciation for truly going above and beyond any possible expection for the care and attention she gave to Snickers, and to us, his well-meaning but confused caretakers! Snickers is almost completely recovered now, back to his old tricks, and if you are looking for a vet for your pet, you should call At Home Veterinary Care. They come to your home, (or in our case, our yard!) avoiding stressful animal transport, and provide care and attention that is truly exceptional. Read Less

I only tried this vet because of the convenience of her coming to my home. WHAT A MISTAKE I MADE. She was very unprofessional, zero customer service skills and was never very sure of what she was telling me. I knew more than she did. Now on to the disgusting part of this review. My dog was very very sick with a problem he has had in the past. He needed fluids ASAP. She gave him a "hump Back" of fluids and proceeded to give him an antibiotic shot in the hump. After the shot was given it all seeped out so that was a 58.00 waste and she did not have any oral meds with her. When she left she gave me the bag of fluids so I could continue with it later on. after a few hours I notice the fluids expired a year and a half ago. When I told her about it she said it was no big deal. IT WAS EXPIRED period and never should have been given to me. It has an expiration date on it for a reason. ALSO, she did blood work on my dog, this was on a Friday nite at 7pm. The next day she called me with the results but never actually gave me the paper. On Sunday I had to bring my dog into the ER and I tried to contact her to forward the results but she never called me back. The ER had to do the blood work all over again, so now I'm paying 2 times. I cancelled the check I gave her and asked for these things to be off my bill. She refused and took my check to the Waterbury Police dept TODAY to have me arrested. SO now I have to pay her for expired medicine, a shot that leaked out and did my dog no good AND blood work that she kept for herself that also did us no good. All of this in the tune of 350.00 I will now be out due to her incompetency as a licensed Vet. If you are reading this PLEASE DO NOT USE HER. A complaint has been submitted and legal action will be brought against her for doing this to my dog. Oh and did I mention she brought her 15 year old daughter and her friend to my house as well. This was the worst experience ever. She should not be in business AT ALL..... Read Less
