Dr. Argawal is a very good and smart veternarian, but was incredibly aggressive with my dog who is terrified of getting her nails clipped. My dog is completely not aggressive, she wasn't growing or biting. She was scared, trying to get away. He literally put his knee on her neck and then restrained her legs as if she were getting hog tied. It breaks my heart that this is how he goes about treating a scared dog. On top of that, almost every time her nails have been clipped there, they mess it up, make her bleed, and reinforce her phobia. Dr. Argawal simply put, should not cut the nails of a terrified animal if he has to treat that animal like a savage beast to do so. There are so many ways he could have avoided manhandling a well behaved but scared pup. He could have asked us to come another day and prescribed her something to take an hour before: like Sileo (a medicine to reduce the reception of fear chemicals in her brain), that's for sure. Either way, after this, I have to find a new vet. I'm not okay with this lack of sympathy cut and dry approach he has. When dealing with a scared innocent animal, aggressive approaches like that are entirely inappropriate. Read Less

Waterford Animal Hospital doesn't look like some of the shiny glass and steel vets you can find on the Shoreline. Not all that glitters is gold, folks. WAH is as good as it gets.Dr. A and his crew has served our pets very well - from routine checkups to Mollie's persistent seasonal allergies to the compassionate and professional diagnosis of our May May's inoperable tumor (which came out of nowhere). Dr. A and his crew were remarkably sensitive and kind to us during a very difficult day - May May was 14 and never had a spot of health issues until weeks before she died. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. Dr. A is a very good vet. Their fees are very reasonable; it's a relief not constantly having to deal with the up-sell that vets from the big national and regional chains are constantly hammering you with during every visit. Our pets are very important to us. My standard is very, very high for their care. I trust Dr. A and the staff of Waterford Animal Hospital implicitly. Read Less

We love the Waterford Animal Hospital. Mollie had surgery today and we were very pleased with the care she received. Our cat, May May, perfectly healthy and active, declined precipitously in the course of less then a month. Waterford Animal Hospital no doubt inconvenienced themselves to get her in, to run the diagnostics, and spend the time showing us the tumor that grew like wildfire off her liver. Dr. A compassionately and professionally explained what was wrong, what options were, and helped us make what was really the only decision we could humanely make for our beloved pet. He asked if we wished to be present when she was euthanized. She was still asleep from the xrays and he gave us as much time to say our goodbyes as we needed before and after she died. The entire staff was compassionate, kind, and accommodating in our time of grief. It's easy to like your vet when it's something simple. When you like them when you have to negotiate the best path for your pet when it's serious? That's saying something. We love WAH. Read Less

As a newly minted New Londoner with a dog, I was sorely unprepared for the Tick-pocolypse we met when we arrived. Just in the first week, I gingerly and nauseously picked four juicy ticks off my fluffy dog. In our entire 6 years together, my dog and I had never met a single tick, and here we were, seeing them almost every day. I panicked and started calling every vet in the area, and nobody could see me immediately as I needed. The only exception was Waterford Vet, and they got me in that very day.Front desk staff were super friendly and encouraging to me and my dog on our mutual nerves on being there. The doctor was a little on the harsh side, but seemed to know what he was doing with a thorough physical and exam. He told me what to do in the future on the tick realm, and got us onto a combination flea and tick med that despite its high price, has yet to result in a single tick. SUCCESS. He also recommended a teeth cleaning which was estimated to set us back $500, which included two extractions if necessary. We started in on some enzymatic toothpaste and baby tooth brush for daily teeth brushing in the meantime, with some tartar control water additive for added umph. They put my fur baby on a preemptive antibiotic in case he had to get a tooth or two taken out, which I thought was great planning. When it came down to it, all the brushing and care made a difference and our lil guy didn't have to have any teeth pulled. The staff at the vet were helpful and understanding when I called them three times while my baby was under anesthesia as I was a nervous furmom fretting at work.My sweet boy came home chipper, with perfectly sparkly teeth and an extra set of antibiotics in case of any nicks or scratches he may have sustained during the procedure. I was also only charged $380 since he didn't have to get any extractions, which made me even happier. I feel better knowing that I have this as a support for us in our pocket, although both abrupt and a little on the rough side. This is not the posh pet vet palace you may be looking for, but for general vet services and quick appointment planning, this is a great choice. Read Less

What seemed like was going to be an easy process ended in a disaster. I am a service member in the Army and was visiting family in the New London County area. My dog was going to be staying with family for three months while I was away at training. I needed to have a form (orthopedic pre-screen exam form, a very basic form to see if there's any pre-existing orthopedic conditions, its not actually asking the vet to diagnosis anything, just if they see any issues) completed for my dogs pet insurance. I called Waterford Animal Hospital and explained my situation to two different people, they said sure no problem come on in. The next morning I came in, the vet looks at the form and says, "I can't do this I'm not an orthopedic specialist." I try explaining to the vet, that no where on the form does it say the vet needs to be an orthopedic specialist. The vet treats me like I'm an idiot and I can't read. The vet ends up not completing the exam and I leave. I immediately call my pet insurance and ask them if it needs to be an orthopedic specialist. And just like I thought, the pet insurance, re-assured me that no, it didn't need to be a specialist, ANY VET could have completed this form. I will say the front desk staff was very nice and friendly, but beware the vet is rude and doesn't seem to have any empathy. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone. Read Less

Friends of mine highly recommended I take my puppy to Waterford Animal Hospital. With my dear previous dog I had been going to another large national commercial animal hospital in Waterford. The care and service at Waterford Animal Hospital is much more personal and caring. I read a unfavorable review and thought twice about going. But my friends who have all of their many dogs going to Waterford Animal Hospital for many years. The doctor is very attentive and offers his professional advise. With people having tight budgets these days, the doctor was free with advice on keeping medical costs down. Their prices were much less than I had been paying. They did not push add on procedures to make more profit, The staff was gentle and caring with my new baby.
