I first brought my dog Lucy to this vet center when she sustained a corneal ulcer on Thanksgiving of 2017. The emergency vet saw her right away (ended up seeing Dr Kubis). She was very nice to her, and after a couple follow up visits where we just watched things, Dr Kubis finally did scrape the ulcer, and it healed. The decision making took a little longer than I wanted, but after all was said and done, it healed. All better. Fantastic.Lucy went on to receive regular vet care there. It isn't cheap, but I have never been to a vet that is. It's also dingy inside, a little old or dirty or both, and the front desk is not always very charming, but I never had a reason to dislike the place until I found a bump on my dog's leg...So, I'm sitting on my couch on a Friday night. I look over and see a raised scabby bump on my dog's leg. Obviously I was concerned, so I brought her in for an emergency visit to see Dr Kubis the very next day. Dr Kubis mentioned it could be a folliculitis and that we should give the dog antibiotics and just watch it. Now, I'm not a DVM, but a large, painless, scabbed, freely movable lump is not folliculitis. I insisted the lesion be biopsied, so a FNA was performed at that visit. Total cost of over $500 but then again.. having a dog isn't cheap. The biopsy results came back a few days later with the result of a round cell tumor. Dr Kubis called to explain that it was good news, these were benign, and that we could have it removed as soon as the next couple days and that she would put me on the schedule. Overall, the phone call lasted about 5 minutes. Here's where all hell broke loose. After getting off the phone with Dr Kubis, I did research of my own online, knowing full well that "round cell tumors" are not always benign. And of course I found that in dogs, just like in people, they aren't. I called back to discuss the biopsy results again with the doc, but the rudest person I have ever talked to on the phone (the receptionist) explained to me that their doctors are "very busy" and no one could talk to me. I left a message. No response. I called again the next day. Same rudeness, same message, and no callback. So I wait until the day of my dog's surgical consult appointment, but I call ahead a time to confirm the time and the same rude receptionist informed me that it had been scheduled for TWO WEEKS FROM THEN. Outraged, I asked again if I could speak to someone besides this heinous beast of a human being, and again I was denied. I was incredibly worried about my dog, hadn't had an opportunity to thoroughly discuss her tumor with a single vet professional, and now I was delayed treatment for weeks. I was miserable. So I did what a lot of people would do in my shoes -- I called around. And I ended up thankfully calling into Vet Specialists of CT, where a kind lady on the phone was able to talk to the greatest medical professional (human or animal) I have ever met (Dr Currao) on my behalf and squeeze me in for an appointment. Dr Currao saw Lucy within 1 hour of my phone call, answered all my 400 questions with grace and patience, and performed her surgery all on the same day for the same fee I was quoted by CVC. She sent the biopsy STAT to a lab in new york, where I got results in 48 hours. She and her vet nurse Sarah are among the greatest and kindest people I've ever met, not to mention incredibly qualified and intelligent. I will never return to Connecticut Vet Center because of how I was treated, the misinformation I was given, and the mistakes that were made. I sincerely hope the horrible person answering the phones gets fired in the very least. She shouldn't be allowed anywhere near dogs or people, in my opinion. I believe that Dr Kubis never got my messages I was leaving, and she did call eventually to apologize, but I had already gone elsewhere. Overall, I'm happy things worked out the way they did. I do not recommend this place in the slightest. Read Less
