I had a terrible experience with Sherman Hill Animal Hospital. They were only interested making the bill as high as possible. A medicine my dog has been on for years, at 8 cents per tablet...16 cents / day, they filled at 91 cents/day. I insisted on taking the drug back when even Pet Meds was 28 cents/day. Forget about Advantix.... there they tricked me and applied the first dose so I couldn't return that when I learned it was more than 30.00 higher than Pet Meds.I had arranged for my dogs records to be faxed to them far in advance of her appointment.... we are new to town. They hadn't made copies and if I hadn't brought a set, they would have been totally at a loss. This is just a business...not a caring professional place to bring your dog. I only trust that they know how to get the most money possible. If I could give no stars, I would. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the exam room and they butchered an attempt to trim my dogs nails. I can't imagine how bad they would be with something life threatening. Read Less

I don't know if there's a good enough review I can give Sherman Hill, all the vets, and the staff.  We've been using them for years and will absolutely continue to.  We've used them for routine check ups, boarding, emergencies and extended illnesses for our guys.  The staff genuinely cares, both for the owners and equally for our pets.  Dr. Nashe and his staff have been so good to our pets, have cared so much, they're like family to us. Absolutely 100% recommended.  The only circumstance under which I will ever change vets will be if I move over an hour away.Dr. Nashe and his staff are absolutely committed to animals.  You will never, ever feel like they're rushing or dismissive of your animal's needs.   They really get to know everyone personally.  Every time one of my animals has passed away, they've cried with me.I work a lot and they're always willing to work with me.  I've had my dogsitter and/or friends drop off and pick up animals for me, I've paid over the phone, etc., because they're there for the animals and they don't care how I have to get them there.   The staff is so helpful that even if I'm there for one animal, they'll see that I'm about to run out of meds for another animal and have the refill ready to go.One of the things that distinguishes Dr. Nashe from other vets is his use of tried-and-true methods rather than immediately recommending new!exciting!expensive! solutions.  He's extremely knowledgeable and won't push you for some fancy treatment course if a simple "give her one vitamin e a day" will do.I have also boarded my dogs there several times and they take excellent care of them.  They've also done exams for my dogs during boarding as requested (e.g. I dropped off a dog to be boarded who has chronic ear infections, and since the vet was no longer there when I dropped her off, they did the exam the next day without me and called to let me know what they found).  (You still have to pay for the exam.)  I trust them to give all medications and attend to details such as which dogs can/can't be trusted with blankets in the kennel.  I've called many times at the last minute and they've found space.I found Dr. Nashe because I had taken a dog to Dr. Vargoshe many years ago and enjoyed his old-fashioned methods, but he was on vacation when I needed a new dog vet and his office referred me to Dr. Nashe and I'm so, so happy. I have never written a review before, but I had to come to yelp to write about Dr. Nashe and his staff.  Many years ago, I brought my dog to see Dr. Nashe when he had his veterinary hospital in Harwinton.  It was an emergency, and our regular veterinarian was unreachable.  He was kind understanding and especially helpful in explaining everything that he was doing and, of course, took wonderful care of our dog!At that time, we seriously considered changing veterinarians, but we didnt...only out of time and convenience.The years have passed and so did our old dog.  And about 6 months ago, we were blessed with a new furry family member.  As luck would have it, I had read that Dr. Nashe had taken over Sherman Hill Animal Hospital in Woodbury (much closer!) and I immediately called to make my appointment.Dr. Nashe had not changed a bit!  Even though some of his staff has changed, it is obvious that his training is still strong.  They are all there for the love of the pets!  Here are a few highlights:- Even though they are a very busy office, they were accomodating to my schedule when I needed to make my appointment.- There is a real family atmosphere!  His wife manages the office and their kids are often there too.- He does all sorts of pet charity work, including always treating the animal with whats best for them, even if it means that he has to discount the treatment for the owner to afford it.- He does many surgeries that most veterinarians refer out to specialists with the same success rates, so that his clients can afford to do the best thing for their pet!If you can't tell, we are definitely fans of Dr. Nashe and his staff at Sherman Hill Animal Hospital!  CHECK THEM OUT :) Read Less

Dr. Nashe is amazing! We have been clients of many veterinary hospitals over the years and we have never found a veterinarian with such compassion. Our beloved Roxie is now 9 years old and has had a number of health problems over the years. Most recently, an orthopedic problem. We have had such frustrations with so many vets...dumb or inconsiderate office staff, veterinarians who rushed you in and out of an appointment like you are on an assembly line, and we have more horror stories than you want to hear... Dr. Nashe's intelligence is unmistakeable and his drive to care for both the owners and their pets is heartwarming. We especially loved that even though he has been practicing for years, he is able to provide cutting-edge procedures for our pets. He was even able to perform a surgery for our dog that many other vets referred out for! And saved us thousands of dollars in the process! I had a trusted friend tell me about an AWESOME veterinarian who had recently relocated his practice to Woodbury, CT. It was, by far the most valuable referral my family has ever received. All of my dogs and kitties (as well as our daughter's horse and ferrets) now have an excellent vet who is COMPASSIONATE, EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE (ya gotta LOVE those Cornell Graduates!), and most of all, he is THERE 100% for his clients. What really strikes me is his true concern for our pets. After Buddy's cruciate surgery, Dr. Nashe followed up with several phone calls to check on how he was doing. He and is staff went beyond the call of duty when it came to Buddy's tedious rehabilitation. We are so grateful to have met him and his wonderful staff. They really know how to treat your pet like "FAMILY."
