Dr Teri Schultz saved my German Shepherd, Ryder, from a twisted stomach at 2 yrs old when others wanted to euthanize him . She diagnosed Ryder with Pannus, a congenital eye disorder in a second of seeing him when four others saw him and were treating him for an eye infection that “ isn’t getting better “. Dr. Schultz is Ryders’ savior and she loves her animals. Her staff are just as friendly and inviting. I am soooo Happy that Ryder and I found Dr. Schultz because she is truly THE BEST veterinarian that I have met and I had pets all of my 63 yrs and she is the closest to Dr. Doolittle that I have witnessed because she DOES speak PET !!!!!!! I was very happy with this veterinarian until I learned that they advocate declawing as an acceptable method of scratch-deterrent, and that they "package" it with spays and neuters as a for-profit "service." Years and years of research has convinced the majority of veterinarians in this country that declawing is a cruel practice that is very painful for the pet and not especially useful as a means of preventing destructive behavior in cats. To offer it as a matter of course is both outdated and abhorrent, and spreads the wrong message to pet owners that declawing is safe or ethical. It is not. If you love your cat, please do not use this veterinarian, and if this is your regular vet, consider switching to a different one who does not advocate declawing. At the very least, please request that they discontinue offering declawing as part of the spay/neuter "package." Your cat is not a car, it is a living, feeling creature, and deserves to be treated respectfully and humanely. Declawing is NOT humane, and any vet that offers it as anything more than an absolute LAST RESORT is an unethical vet. In short, this vet is willing to mutilate your cat for money. I brought my golden retriever in of 6 years to AVC and had a pleasant experience. They treat your furbabies like their own, and their prices are very reasonable. Most other vets try and upsell you on their products that your dogs don't need and try and charge for all kinds of test that don't need to be done. This place does what it needs to to make sure your dog is 100% health wise. I've been to many vets this one is one of my top!!! The best vet you could bring your pets to! Hands down. I have two dogs, one is 6 years old (Chico) and the other is about 6 months old (Hagan). I have been bringing both of my dogs there since I got them as puppies. From the first visits, to annual shots/visits, and all the way to Chico getting an ear infection a few years ago. They take care of my boys as if they are their own, which means so much to me. My dogs are my children and I would only accept the best for them, which is why even after I moved away I still go to the Animal Veterinary Center. I do not mind the drive since I know they are getting the best care. They are very honest and I trust them with my dogs without a question. I am very surprised I saw a bad review because they are beyond amazing and the prices are great (if you don't think so call around). I refer many of my friends and family to them. I was very nervous to take my very large dog Chunk in because he had unpleasant experiences at another vet and didn't behave well. The staff was beyond amazing! They really listened to my concerns, thoroughly explained everything and were amazing with my dog! His tail wagged the entire time and there wasn't one bark or need for a muzzle. I started taking my girl to AVC just for acupuncture. The staff was always warm and friendly. We went for acupuncture for about a month and a half. Sadly it turned out my girl had bone cancer and I lost her on January 16th. I had called AVC the week prior with a question and to let them know the diagnosis. Dr. Shultz called me to see how my girl was doing. I also received a sympathy card from them when they found out she had passed. I'm not even a "real" client and they did this for me. I started taking my dogs Nathan and Maddy to Animal Veterinary Center in 2006. Nathan past in 06, Maddy in 2011. We have been taking Alex there since we got him from Faithful Friends Animal Shelter in 2011. We have been to other animals centers before 2006, but haven't since our first visit to Animal Veterinary Center. They really care for our Alex, you can see it in the way they treat him on his visits and look out for his health. We are happy using them, but more important is Alex is happy going there as well. My wife and I have been taking our Maltese (Lily) to the Animal Veterinary Center for six years.  The office is clean and the staff is friendly.  They have convenient evening hours and are open every other Saturday.  The best part of the experience is seeing doctor Shultz.  She is an excellent vet and surgeon who has taken wonderful care of Lily.  She is compassionate and takes time to listen and answer all of our questions and concerns.  We would highly recommend this practice for your pet. My husband and I really love this place. We are new to the vet. We took our german shepherd for the 2nd time. First time for shots also meet his new doctor Dr. Shultz and 2nd time for a sick vist follow up. Everybody is so caring and we really like our young german shepherds new doctor. She is awesome with him. As my german shepherd is very shy and stubborn and he was so happy to see her the 2nd time. He will be back soon for his neuter and gastropexy surgery and I know they will spoil him when he's there so I won't worry so much. I see some negative reviews and am so surprised. I have been taking my cat here for 13 years. He had special medical needs and they have been beyond caring and compassionate. I also bring my 3 other cats here. I love both Dr. Boggs and Dr.Shultz. I have called and asked to speak to a vet and get a prompt call back. They call to check on my pets after surgery. I also like the separate waiting room for cats since my kitties don't do well around large dogs! I will continue trusting them to care for my pets for years to come! Read Less

Nice staff and vet. I only got a rabies shot , which cost me $56.50 (exam) and $32 rabies shot plus $3.00 Delaware surcharge , and $4.10 for Biohazard waste management. That means they throw the needle away in a plastic sharps container. That part is a rip off. Most big emergency places in Ohio charge those fees that make everyone unhappy. I'm not sure what typical exams are in DE. In Ohio they are $38-45. Rabies are usually $15-18. As a person who does rescue and often uses low cost clinics, and vaccinates my own rescues with Bordatella/Dhlpp, I know vaccines are super CHEAP, so I do think a $32 rabies is high! But I know they've gotta make money. However they got me in today last minute, were at the counter friendly to greet me, unlike the other review , and everyone was very nice , so that goes a long way for me. I'm in another part of the country so not sure going prices either:) overall nice clinic. Read Less

This is my 2nd visit, as I thought it were to be appropriate for a 2nd visit before I could review it. First time I brought my babygirl (pitbull) to avc It was alittle confusing as the entrance is in the back. They have a left and right entrance after the main doors. Left is dogs and right is cats. I find this very appropriate and other places should do this too. The waiting area is small with 3 benches and has a basket full of animal books (eg: joke books, pic albums, children's books). Receptionist was polite, but the ding when the door entrance is too low for them to hear all the time so you still end up waiting until they see you. I'm not one to shout n holler that I'm here but prompt acknowledgment at check in means prompt visit and prompt dispatch. Our first appointment was at 8 but we were asked to come early to fill out paperwork, I came 40 min early to do so and still wasn't seen till 8:30. Why schedule appointments of you see us late anyways. Today our appointment is at 9 and we were here at 8:30. Took a while for anyone to acknowledge us, and then when we were she said she would tell Dr Boggs we were here. Dr Boggs is a great Vet, she kind, gentle, understanding and will explain what shes thinks is going on. Other than the unnecessary long wait times this place is nice. I have to admit I only chose it because it's right down the street but so far no major complaints.Edited: 3/2016Well I changed my mind about this place. My boyfriend found an injured kitten under a car at work. He asked around if it had belonged to anyone or knew where other kittens possibly of the same litter would be maybe to reunite it with its parents. Seeing that it was injured(face burned fur singed and eye clouded by the burn) he took it the this place and said hello I found this injured kitten I'm going to adopt it can he be seen today. He was told NO Appointments only, and she handed him a loop leash to use in the mean time. They made an appointment under my account for the next Friday. That night we went to a pet store to buy things for the kitten and food and flea stuff. He ate his little heart out and we kept him away from our dog for the night with a new bed warm blankie and toy, we woke up to find him lifeless and limp. Rushed him to the 24hr emergency vet center where I felt him pass in the car before we even arrived. Time went by and my dog needed to be seen, so I called and made an appointment with them only to be told they can't book is bc we have an outstanding no show fee. I told them what happened to the kitten and I still had to pay the fee. So I gave them my new address and number to send me the bill I went In on my day off and paid the fee and will never return. I had my diabetic cat euthanized this week at the Animal Vet Center. It's never a good time, but the people there were very supportive. AJ had diabetes for about 3-1/2 years. Dr. Shultz and the rest of the staff always took very good care of him. You could tell everyone loved animals there, this was more than just a business. I picked up his ashes today, there was a card with the ashes and also a card in the mail when I got home. I want to thank all of the staff for AJ's care....Jim Feeley Read Less

I love the staff and the Vet here. They care about your pets as if they were their own only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because their prices are outrageous. I was given an est. for $590.00 to neuter my healthy 1 year old Lab. Everywhere else the max is $300.00. I know they are good but come on!Read Less
