Where do I even start? I have taken both my dogs and my mother's dog here, too, for years, because it is a black owned business and that's important to me. But based on the behavior of the younger vet (his dad is also a vet here), where I felt physically threatened, never again. First, at the last appointment, I asked to have my dog's nails clipped and the vet tech was super careless. I kept saying he was cutting into the quick and he just kept cutting making my dog's nails bleed profusely - which got all over my car and then all over my carpet when I returned home. But this is the straw that broke the camel's back, I rescued my dog from Rappahanock county in Virginia where the rescue said he had been wandering the countryside. As a result, he cameto me with Lyme disease - a chronic but manageable condition. My first visit to AMAH with my dog, I was talked into getting a Lyme preventive shot. Didn't really make sense to me but he's the doctor, so... Well, I took my dog when I was home to my Mom's vet for an emergency visit, and my Mom's vet was like "why on earth is your dog getting regular Lyme shots when he HAS Lyme disease?" I also asked a friend of mine who was a vet who told me it was a scam - totally unnecessary for a dog with Lyme to get a shot to prevent something he already has. So I very nicely told the doctor at the conclusion of my last visit of what I learned and asked him why a Lyme shot was recommended for my dog when he had Lyme disease. The vet immediately got defensive saying that the other vets didn't know what they were talking about and where did they practice because they clearly weren't familiar with the ticks in the DMV. I told him even not being a vet, it just doesn't make sense to provide a shot to prevent something my dog already has. And that's when the defensiveness turned into anger and then aggression. He started moving toward me and yelling - getting closer and louder. Frankly, it scared me. I asked for my dog's medical records at that point and said I wouldn't be back. It could have easily been resolved with a one time credit as a sign of good faith but instead the vet decided to act like an aggressive, unprofessional jerk. He lost my business and I have actively discouraged people from bringing their pets here. And this is my Yelp review I promised him I would write, doing the same. Read Less
