I have an amstaff (American staffordshire terrier) the first time I brought her here she was about 2 months old and I will tell you what unless I am on the road with her she does not have to go to any other vet. Dr Jones is freaking fabulous she fell in love with Luna immediately after meeting her and ever since then Luna loves coming to visit. She is now 7 months old and we have been going to different places this summer so she has been in boarding several times and I love it there open from 8-530p from mon-sat it's open until 2p. If anything happens to your dog they immediately call you and keep you posted with anything happening. They have a good size yard to let the doggies out and there cages is nice and air condition. The staff is amazing they also take well care of your furry pets as if it's there own I recommend it. Read Less

I came in because after 3 days my dog was still in labor I was told that a c section needed to be preformed on my dog that she had 3 puppies still in here and they were all still alive.....920 dollars and 3 dead puppies and a few hours I finally left they told me to bring my dog back 7-14 days to have the staples taken out. ..But they are coming out on their own because she wasn't stapled the right way so she just has random staples that are not holding anything together I wish I could post pictures to show you but it wont let me . I have to say many thanks to the doctors and staff! My dog Boo had been a patient there for many years! Last Thursday Dr. Trotter helped me make the hardest decision ever for my fur baby. Boo had been diagnosed with Lymphoma which finally made her so sick that we had to put her at rest. On a very difficult day I came home to find the most touching card in the mailbox. Also in the mailbox was another card which Hilltop Animal Hospital made a donation to a Veterinary Care Foundation in the memory of “Boo”. Wow I’m so touched that Boo’s memory will live on forever. Dr. Trotter is amazing!!!!! She is sympathetic for the pets and parents. She called to check on our dog over the weekend. On Sunday night at 9:30 she called us to check on how our dog was and what AVS after hours was doing. She called AVS and talked to Vet then called us about what she learned. Dr. Trotter is beyond words. She made dealing with a long and tough situation easier to deal with. I wish my personal doctors showed half the concern and care she shows. Read Less

I love the staff and care at this vet. The only thing I would be careful about is making a diagnosis without testing. I don't believe you can tell just by looking if a cat has a UTI. Luckily, I was given treatment anyway, and I will be finishing it, as it seems to be helping. Otherwise, I'm happy to have such a great practice so close to home! Read Less

Dr. McNichols is an expert on cat health and behavior. She is extremely knowledgeable, as well as very compassionate. She takes the necessary time to focus on the patient. She is quick to notify me of test results, and to explain any medical problems, and treatment plans. She always returns phone calls, answers questions, and addresses concerns. I recently had to get two of my pets in for bordetella vaccines so we could board them while out of town. Even though it was the holidays, they had me come right down, gave them their doses and we were out of there in ten minutes. Great experience and always completely satisfied with Hilltop. We were traveling through the area with our dog who was recently in a car accident so he had many abrasions on his body. During travel, he had an accident in his crate and the sweet staff of Hilltop took him in and cleaned him up with extra care. We have been bringing all of our pets to Dr. Jones and her associates for 15+ years, and have always had the very best of care. The staff is amazing, the vets are the best. From puppies all the way up to end-of-life, we wouldn't trust anyone else with our dear pups, cats, bunnies. We have had dogs with many medical issues; cataracts, glaucoma, seizures, allergies, etc., and the level of care they have received has been miraculous. Recently Dr. Trotter attended to our lab rescue and was so helpful with his ear infection. Duncan loved her! We love Dr. Trotter! It's a win-win for everyone!! I highly recommend Hilltop Animal hospital. From the front office to the Drs and their assistants, everyone loves and cares for your fur babies. I researched several and called for prices around the Gainesville area and found Hilltop to be average priced. The vet missed diagnosed my dogs severed tendon for two weeks and only prescribed pain and antiinflammatories. Finally, I went to a different vet and within one minute was able to determine the tendon in the leg was severed. Due to the two weeks of misdiagnosis the tendon retracted and thus more extensive surgery and costs. The vet nor the office ever followed up on her but yet they wanted their $400 plus bill paid. The vet sent a survey afterwards and I wrote my concerns and complaints. Again, no follow-up from any staff, office manager or the vet who misdiagnosed the injury. I will never go back to that office. More than likely their response to this review will be their typical response - We strive to......Blah, blah, blah. You certainly didn't care then and you probably don't really care now which is evident by your lack of follow-up to the injury and to the poor survey I completed. Read Less

I take my bunnies and to this vet and I appreciate Ms. Jones expertise. I had my sweet bunny, Bugsey, schedule for a costly procedure to correct his teary eye and instead of going through with the surgery she gave him an anti-inflammatory medication to avoid the risk of surgery. I am absolutely 100% happy with our visit today. We've been using another local vet for years and just wasn't completely happy anymore. This was my first time taking my 8 month old CaneCorso to Hilltop but my vet Ashley Cristelli is working there so of course we will be going. The staff I met was nice and helpful-they were understanding that Mercy is a puppy in training (should have met her a few months ago!) They are happy to let me bring her to help her acclimate to new surroundings and people. I especially appreciate that while the exam is thorough and advice and care are comprehensive, there is none of the "pushing" for extras that may not be needed, which I have experienced with other practices with previous pets. I have to drive quite a distance to have a good rabbit vet. Dr. Jones is great and very knowledgeable about rabbits. Sometimes the office staff need some rabbit training, but overall a good experience. Read Less

We started taking our 2 Schnauzer's to Hilltop Animal Hospital a couple of years ago. My dogs and I love Dr. Jones. The staff is awesome and always very helpful. I brought my 13 week old puppy who was very healthy there for an exam and vaccines. She came home at 6pm on the 5th as soon as she got through the door she started to vomit. All night she was lethargic. The morning of the 6th she sick I called the hospital they said watch her. At 5pm I called and told them she was still sick. They said it was too late to bring her. At 6pm I took her to UF College of Veterinary Medicine. She was put IV fluids, IV med for nausea, IV antibiotics, Steroids and pain meds . They didn't know what was wrong. Her abdominal X-ray should she had gastritis. She had severe diarrhea. No diagnosis. On the 8th the Vet called me and told me she was not responding to treatment. She was put to sleep. No diagnosis. Why did she suddenly get so sick right after receiving vaccines? I wish I had an answer. Hilltop cannot give me an answer.Read Less

We have brought all our pets to Hilltop Animal Hospital since moving here in 2010. They handle each one professionally and skillfully. We had a horrible emergency with our Great Dane, Bailey and they did the best any medical team could. They moved quickly and without hurting her, triaged, took the necessary diagnostics and labs, and called ahead to UF emergency as we raced to get there. ER staff was waiting with a stretcher when we arrived, chart and work up was there before us. Unfortunately Bailey did not make it but Dr. Jones and her staff helped us to make a quick and informed decision for our beloved pet. They also kept our other Great Dane Tyson alive, active, and comfortable far longer than expected despite some significant health issues.
