IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT USE BANFIELD. I just had the most horrifying experience with the evil Dr. Hefflen, what a disgusting monster!!! Keep in mind that I have been a client of this Banfield for over 10 years and trusted them with my pets who I love with all my heart. And even though I usually schedule an appointment my poor sweet little 5lb chihuahua who loves everyone and is an angel on earth was in terrible pain from an ear infection that wasn't improving after following instructions to clean them every couple of days. Her ears were totally red and she couldn't leave them alone. I checked to make sure I could still come in as a walk in and when that was confirmed I arrived 30 minutes before closing and was told to wait and they would see me as soon as they could. After being left to sit there for over 2 hours with my sweet little dog sitting in my lap trembling in pain the whole time, I was told Dr. Hefflen wanted to go home because it was after 6 so I needed to come back in the morning. i could not believe any human, much less a veterinarian, would be so cruel since she had seen my dog in the lobby suffering in pain several times as she greeted and checked out other clients. I begged her, if she wasn't willing to take10 minutes to help this poor innocent little animal in pain to please at least give her the usual ear drops in her ears that had always been prescribed for her chronic ear problems so that she could feel some relief tonight from the terrible pain overnight since I had run out of her prescribed surolan drops. Even if her ear pain required different drops the single dose of surolan would not hurt and it could help immensely. So she said she would only help my dog if I gave her an extra $50, this is besides the cost of the office visit and medication. I WAS DUMBFOUNDED, not only was this heartless excuse for a human being as a veterinarian REFUSING TO HELP AN ANIMAL IN PAIN who only need 10 minutes of her time or even just 30 seconds and 3 drops in each ear. She wasn't even willing to help her unless I lined her pockets. What kind of monster takes advantage of vulnerable people and refuses to help a small animal who is suffering in pain unless she gets an extra $50? She will certainly go to the same place in hell where people who charge $50 for a gallon of water after a hurricane. Praying on the vulnerable and suffering to line her pockets is beyond disgusting. She said she was fleecing me because it was an after hours visit, which is a total lie because I was there 30 minutes before the last appointment time. Dr. Hefflen is an evil monster praying on the vulnerable and betraying her oath as a veterinarian, letting small innocent animals suffer needlessly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE, DR. HEFFLEN IS A MONSTER WHO WILL DENY YOUR PET CARE WHEN IT IS SUFFERING IN PAIN UNLESS YOU PAY HER EXTRA, SHE IS EVIL AND HEARTLESS AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED AROUND INNOCENT ANIMALS. After four return same day trips and $100 later we end up in emergency vet clinic . Well documented allergic reaction from same vaccine 3 years ago at same Banfield Pet Hospital. $200 plus additional dollars and 12 hours later my emotional service animal is home and stable. Emotional trauma to my pet and the owner due to total incompetence. Each time she was brought back within hours of her vaccination they charged more for what they did. Will be finding new vet and waiting out the end of wellness plan. Will post on social media. Yes adopt a pet but not through pet smart or Banfield. Other posts explain why but the trauma to our family will take months to undue and restabilize . Thank you Casselberry Emergency Vet Clinic for saving my angels life and restoring some hope and security to this little family. Shame on you Banfield Pet Hospital and this is not over. I brought the prescription to petsmart because they were cheaper then my vet. When i finally got the card and went back to the cashier to purchase the food, i told the cashier that the lady was very rude and was told that they here that a lot but the vet is not part of petsmart and there was nothing they could do. Please heed this advice:If you AT ALL care about your pet, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!It all started when Banfield prescribed a medicine via a pharmacy that was nearly FOUR TIMES the amount a small breed should ingest. After my dog got worse and began throwing up and became lethargic I called Banfield to which they advised me this was normal. I then, called back and spoke with someone else at this location who was SHOCKED that my dog was taking this dose. It was a complete mess up on the Vet and Pharmacy. Moving forward, the Manager at this location put me in contact with the Pharmacy to get the monies back on the prescribed medicine as well he informed me that we could get blood work done in a few months to ensure that there was not permanent damage done with my pet! When I came into this location for the follow-up the Office notified me that they would not be doing the bloodwork on my pet as he appeared fine and it was unneeded. Because of THIS Vet, my pet has had to visit the emergency pet hospital and my pet's New Veterinarian found a heart murmur.When I made a formal complaint to Corporate, the Manager of this location called me and yelled at me...not once but TWICE!I have since canceled my monthly plan with them and relocated to a new vet in the area.Fast Forward a Year:I pull my credit and unbeknownst to me, Banfield had put me into collections on a bill that they ALMOST killed my dog on. It was like some kind of sick joke.I have contacted several member of corporate and no-one will return a phone call. I am appalled, disgusted and disappointed with the Actions of Banfield. The Banfield in Altamonte is always amazing. We have taken our pups Tink and Tank there since they were born. The techs always are very friendly, the Veterinarians have always been overly pleasant, and complete as thorough if not more thorough exams than other private vets. We have never been charged for anything not needed. Our dogs are prone to cherry eye. When they were young id bring them in and they would fix it. No cost for the visit, and they showed me how to fix it so I did not need to continually bring them in. They do the pups shots and teeth cleaning regularly. Very happy. Read Less

We love this location and their staff! They are always very caring and loving to our 2 dogs. Due to the wellness plan and Dr. Howe's thorough exams, we were able to find a cancer early enough to successfully treat it! Our other dog has issues with reflux, swallowing issues, and severe allergies and the staff there always sit and discuss our concerns and go over our options. I had scheduled an appointment for 2 p.m. to update my cat's vaccines and chose Banfield over another vet because they had a coupon to waive the fee for the office visit. First, I showed up for the appointment at 1:45 and they refused to let me even sign in until exactly 2 p.m. Once I was signed in they didn't even take the cat until 3:15.
The vet tech was pretty rude about dealing with my cat, and while I understand my cat isn't the easiest animal to work with, there's no call to being rude. When the vet came in he didn't even examine the cat. He just flipped her onto her side, asked me and the vet tech to hold her down and then gave her the vaccines. When I asked about the exam he said "I did, she's fine." So apparently waiving the fee for the exam means you don't get the exam at all.
Finally as the vet tech was wrapping things up she said I was good for one year, and I wanted to clarify because every other vet I spoke to told me the vaccines are good for three years. She said "usually they are, but this time it's only good for one. When you bring your cat in next year then her next vaccines will be good for three."
So now I have to get the cat vaccinated again in a year, and I still have to take the cat elsewhere for a proper exam. I will be looking for a new vet the next time and I will not be coming back to Banfield as they were rude, my appointment time didn't matter, and I feel like I'm being punished for not coming to Banfield previously.
Save yourself the hassle, time, and money and find a better vet in the area. Read Less

My 11 year old boxer had cancer and she was not doing well at all. Could barely walk and you could tell she was suffering. Me and my mother called them to see how much it would be to put her to sleep because we didn't want her to suffer any longer. They where rude and said that it wasn't our decision to make and the dr would decide. They wanted $150 for a visit and then said it would be $250 to put her to sleep. How dare they say it's not our decision to make? We cared and loved our dog for an amazing 11 years and you just know when it's their time. Don't waste your money going to this vet. All they care about is what's in your wallet and nothing about the well being of your pet. Just go to your local mom and pop vet. I went to get my dog vaccinated and checked out because he had been limping for some days. The Vet forgot to check his limp and when reminded by the assistant about it did not bother to go back to the examination room and actually do an assessment. The next day his limp was worse and I took him to another clinic. The Vet there found an inflamed nodule in his paw because he actually did a real assessment and looked at it. The assistant at Banfield was very nice and caring. I recommend Banfield to anyone who wants a caring assistant and an INCOMPETENT Vet.Read Less

3 out of the last 4 visits were scheduled wrong...and their response is ALWAYS "well, it;s in our computer that way". And how exactly do appointments get entered into your computer anyway? Oh that's right, PEOPLE enter them...and clearly your people are prone to mistakes.
On one occasion I had an 8:00am Saturday appointment and when I got there, she said it was on the schedule, but they made a mistake because the doctor is always in surgery until 2:00...and I would have to come back. So on my way driving back that afternoon, they called me to cancel completely.
Today I had an appt for 2:00, but when I got there they said I was a no=show for Friday @ 3:00. I work Mon-Fri, 8-5...no way I booked a Friday 3:00 appt. The purpose for the appt was my dog's pre-surgery urinalysis, which I mentioned when I scheduled the appointment. And surprise-when I got there they had no idea what the appt was for. Even when I reminded them it was for a simple urinalysis, they kept trying to charge me for other procedures.
The staff does not pay attention and consistently get the details wrong, which is pretty scary considering you are putting you pet's life in their hands.

But gee, if yo udon't like your job then look for something else. Super rude, did not address the concerns I had, was talking mainly about other irregularities that I have addressed not as my main concerns. Added many "treatments" and "medications" to our bill without consulting or asking first! I denied all of it and winded up going to a privatized vet office. Our dog received all needed attention and not just "ok, you need to do this or that". Seriously, with Dr. Santiago at the Banfield you feel like he's on a sales track, make as much commission in selling products and treatments. Booooo, that's not why people come in to a vet's office!!!! Furthermore, I addressed this issue with Banfield headquarters and they were like: "we will address it, but how about you are trying one of the other vet's"? didn't sound like they were taking it seriously. I have had mixed experiences with this location, but I have found if you find a good doctor, it can be a very good experience. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Howe. She was amazing dealing with my and my dog in the final stages of her cancer. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Santiago. He ran up a very big bill on us without explaining everything clearly when our other dog was having some stomach issues. I felt like he didn't need to order all the tests and meds he did, he was just raising our bill. I've been on one of their wellness plans for years, I don't think they're bad at all. I used to go to a non-corporate/private vet, and my yearly bill from them was higher than what my my monthly payments equate to on the Banfield Wellness Plan. I had the plan when my pet was healthy, but it saved me BIG bucks when she got cancer and we were in there for visits on a regular basis. I think my total savings over her lifetime was $5K or something (according to my final Banfield bill). I also will say Chelsea at the front desk is AMAZING. Once again, I've had some interactions with some bad seeds working the front desk on her days off. I can see why some have bad experiences here, but if you find the right vet, I feel it can be a good experience for a reasonable price. Read Less

I ASSUMED we were new customers to that Banfield, but they said no, you couldn't EVER have gone to any Banfield to be considered a new customer.Whatever. Then, she sends the tech in to tell me it would cost over $500 JUST TO TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG (if anything). Really? $500? Not a fan!I first used this location because of convenience of being attached to PetSmart. What a great place to get shopping, grooming and medical taken care of for my pup Haley. Obviously, this is too good to be true.The facilities were not impressive from my first visit. Yes, I went 2 times to make sure the first time wasn't just a fluke of a negative experience. If you are looking for a quick stop to throw money at while they just simply weigh your dog then this would be a good shop. However, I have a brand new puppy who I want to be checked over form head to toe each time so I don't let anything slip by.From the moment I sat down in the room the marketing began. You are shown a video of this amazing yearly plan they offer to take special care of your pet so everything is covered. I feel this is a fluke and they just want your money which is sad. The assistant also give you the spiel while she is setting up for the actual veterinarian. When he arrived, I don't think he even said hello. I was concerned about Haley itching her ears and asked if there was anything preventative I could do. The assistant was the one who suggested an ear swab and the vet said, it's not really necessary but you can if you want. I am glad I listened to the assistant because Haley had an ear infection. She is OK now though! I don't think they are affiliated with PetSmart other than they use their facilities so I have no qualms with PetSmart and will continue to shop there when needed.I also have received various phone calls (over 10 within the last month) trying to schedule follow up appointments. I feel like they are stalking me and it's not impressive. I know they are not doing it cause they care, they are doing it for the profit. I even called just to get an estimate and I asked them to remove my future appointment and they ignored that request and called me the day of the apt and said I missed the appointment. That was annoying. All in all, it really seems like this vet is in it for money and not care for your pets - this is sad. Read Less

This place is the pits. Over priced rip off. Forget about their very expensive health care plan and uncompassionate vets. Our experience was terrible. First, the vet truly wasn't concerned about our pets. Second, our cats were diagnosed as being worm-free, but when we took them to another vet, he found 2 types of worms. Third, the ear cleaning we paid for wasn't performed properly. After we got home, we could see how filthy our cat's ears still were.Aside from their lousy practices, they also put your pet on a cold stainless steel table, and that's a lousy surface for any pet to have to be placed upon for an examination. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT USE BANFIELD. I just had the most horrifying experience with the evil Dr. Hefflen, what a disgusting monster!!! Keep in mind that I have been a client of this Banfield for over 10 years and trusted them with my pets who I love with all my heart. And even though I usually schedule an appointment my poor sweet little 5lb chihuahua who loves everyone and is an angel on earth was in terrible pain from an ear infection that wasn't improving after following instructions to clean them every couple of days. Her ears were totally red and she couldn't leave them alone. I checked to make sure I could still come in as a walk in and when that was confirmed I arrived 30 minutes before closing and was told to wait and they would see me as soon as they could. After being left to sit there for over 2 hours with my sweet little dog sitting in my lap trembling in pain the whole time, I was told Dr. Hefflen wanted to go home because it was after 6 so I needed to come back in the morning. i could not believe any human, much less a veterinarian, would be so cruel since she had seen my dog in the lobby suffering in pain several times as she greeted and checked out other clients. I begged her, if she wasn't willing to take10 minutes to help this poor innocent little animal in pain to please at least give her the usual ear drops in her ears that had always been prescribed for her chronic ear problems so that she could feel some relief tonight from the terrible pain overnight since I had run out of her prescribed surolan drops. Even if her ear pain required different drops the single dose of surolan would not hurt and it could help immensely. So she said she would only help my dog if I gave her an extra $50, this is besides the cost of the office visit and medication. I WAS DUMBFOUNDED, not only was this heartless excuse for a human being as a veterinarian REFUSING TO HELP AN ANIMAL IN PAIN who only need 10 minutes of her time or even just 30 seconds and 3 drops in each ear. She wasn't even willing to help her unless I lined her pockets. What kind of monster takes advantage of vulnerable people and refuses to help a small animal who is suffering in pain unless she gets an extra $50? She will certainly go to the same place in hell where people who charge $50 for a gallon of water after a hurricane. Praying on the vulnerable and suffering to line her pockets is beyond disgusting. She said she was fleecing me because it was an after hours visit, which is a total lie because I was there 30 minutes before the last appointment time. Dr. Hefflen is an evil monster praying on the vulnerable and betraying her oath as a veterinarian, letting small innocent animals suffer needlessly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE, DR. Well documented allergic reaction from same vaccine 3 years ago at same Banfield Pet Hospital. $200 plus additional dollars and 12 hours later my emotional service animal is home and stable. Emotional trauma to my pet and the owner due to total incompetence. Each time she was brought back within hours of her vaccination they charged more for what they did. Will be finding new vet and waiting out the end of wellness plan. Will post on social media. Yes adopt a pet but not through pet smart or Banfield. Other posts explain why but the trauma to our family will take months to undue and restabilize . Please heed this advice:If you AT ALL care about your pet, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!It all started when Banfield prescribed a medicine via a pharmacy that was nearly FOUR TIMES the amount a small breed should ingest. After my dog got worse and began throwing up and became lethargic I called Banfield to which they advised me this was normal. I then, called back and spoke with someone else at this location who was SHOCKED that my dog was taking this dose. It was a complete mess up on the Vet and Pharmacy. Moving forward, the Manager at this location put me in contact with the Pharmacy to get the monies back on the prescribed medicine as well he informed me that we could get blood work done in a few months to ensure that there was not permanent damage done with my pet! When I came into this location for the follow-up the Office notified me that they would not be doing the bloodwork on my pet as he appeared fine and it was unneeded. Because of THIS Vet, my pet has had to visit the emergency pet hospital and my pet's New Veterinarian found a heart murmur.When I made a formal complaint to Corporate, the Manager of this location called me and yelled at me...not once but TWICE!I have since canceled my monthly plan with them and relocated to a new vet in the area.Fast Forward a Year:I pull my credit and unbeknownst to me, Banfield had put me into collections on a bill that they ALMOST killed my dog on. It was like some kind of sick joke.I have contacted several member of corporate and no-one will return a phone call. I am appalled, disgusted and disappointed with the Actions of Banfield. The techs always are very friendly, the Veterinarians have always been overly pleasant, and complete as thorough if not more thorough exams than other private vets. We have never been charged for anything not needed. Our dogs are prone to cherry eye. When they were young id bring them in and they would fix it. No cost for the visit, and they showed me how to fix it so I did not need to continually bring them in. They do the pups shots and teeth cleaning regularly. Very happy. Read Less

I had scheduled an appointment for 2 p.m. to update my cat's vaccines and chose Banfield over another vet because they had a coupon to waive the fee for the office visit. First, I showed up for the appointment at 1:45 and they refused to let me even sign in until exactly 2 p.m. Once I was signed in they didn't even take the cat until 3:15.
The vet tech was pretty rude about dealing with my cat, and while I understand my cat isn't the easiest animal to work with, there's no call to being rude. When the vet came in he didn't even examine the cat. He just flipped her onto her side, asked me and the vet tech to hold her down and then gave her the vaccines. When I asked about the exam he said "I did, she's fine." So apparently waiving the fee for the exam means you don't get the exam at all.
Finally as the vet tech was wrapping things up she said I was good for one year, and I wanted to clarify because every other vet I spoke to told me the vaccines are good for three years. She said "usually they are, but this time it's only good for one. When you bring your cat in next year then her next vaccines will be good for three."
So now I have to get the cat vaccinated again in a year, and I still have to take the cat elsewhere for a proper exam. I will be looking for a new vet the next time and I will not be coming back to Banfield as they were rude, my appointment time didn't matter, and I feel like I'm being punished for not coming to Banfield previously.
Save yourself the hassle, time, and money and find a better vet in the area. Read Less

Me and my mother called them to see how much it would be to put her to sleep because we didn't want her to suffer any longer. They where rude and said that it wasn't our decision to make and the dr would decide. They wanted $150 for a visit and then said it would be $250 to put her to sleep. How dare they say it's not our decision to make? We cared and loved our dog for an amazing 11 years and you just know when it's their time. Don't waste your money going to this vet. All they care about is what's in your wallet and nothing about the well being of your pet. Just go to your local mom and pop vet. On one occasion I had an 8:00am Saturday appointment and when I got there, she said it was on the schedule, but they made a mistake because the doctor is always in surgery until 2:00...and I would have to come back. So on my way driving back that afternoon, they called me to cancel completely.
Today I had an appt for 2:00, but when I got there they said I was a no=show for Friday @ 3:00. I work Mon-Fri, 8-5...no way I booked a Friday 3:00 appt. The purpose for the appt was my dog's pre-surgery urinalysis, which I mentioned when I scheduled the appointment. And surprise-when I got there they had no idea what the appt was for. Even when I reminded them it was for a simple urinalysis, they kept trying to charge me for other procedures.
The staff does not pay attention and consistently get the details wrong, which is pretty scary considering you are putting you pet's life in their hands.

But gee, if yo udon't like your job then look for something else. Super rude, did not address the concerns I had, was talking mainly about other irregularities that I have addressed not as my main concerns. Added many "treatments" and "medications" to our bill without consulting or asking first! I denied all of it and winded up going to a privatized vet office. Our dog received all needed attention and not just "ok, you need to do this or that". Seriously, with Dr. Santiago at the Banfield you feel like he's on a sales track, make as much commission in selling products and treatments. Booooo, that's not why people come in to a vet's office!!!! Furthermore, I addressed this issue with Banfield headquarters and they were like: "we will address it, but how about you are trying one of the other vet's"? didn't sound like they were taking it seriously. I have had mixed experiences with this location, but I have found if you find a good doctor, it can be a very good experience. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Howe. She was amazing dealing with my and my dog in the final stages of her cancer. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Santiago. He ran up a very big bill on us without explaining everything clearly when our other dog was having some stomach issues. I felt like he didn't need to order all the tests and meds he did, he was just raising our bill. I've been on one of their wellness plans for years, I don't think they're bad at all. I used to go to a non-corporate/private vet, and my yearly bill from them was higher than what my my monthly payments equate to on the Banfield Wellness Plan. I had the plan when my pet was healthy, but it saved me BIG bucks when she got cancer and we were in there for visits on a regular basis. I think my total savings over her lifetime was $5K or something (according to my final Banfield bill). I also will say Chelsea at the front desk is AMAZING. Once again, I've had some interactions with some bad seeds working the front desk on her days off. I can see why some have bad experiences here, but if you find the right vet, I feel it can be a good experience for a reasonable price. Read Less

Not a fan!I first used this location because of convenience of being attached to PetSmart. What a great place to get shopping, grooming and medical taken care of for my pup Haley. Obviously, this is too good to be true.The facilities were not impressive from my first visit. Yes, I went 2 times to make sure the first time wasn't just a fluke of a negative experience. If you are looking for a quick stop to throw money at while they just simply weigh your dog then this would be a good shop. However, I have a brand new puppy who I want to be checked over form head to toe each time so I don't let anything slip by.From the moment I sat down in the room the marketing began. You are shown a video of this amazing yearly plan they offer to take special care of your pet so everything is covered. I feel this is a fluke and they just want your money which is sad. The assistant also give you the spiel while she is setting up for the actual veterinarian. When he arrived, I don't think he even said hello. I was concerned about Haley itching her ears and asked if there was anything preventative I could do. The assistant was the one who suggested an ear swab and the vet said, it's not really necessary but you can if you want. I am glad I listened to the assistant because Haley had an ear infection. She is OK now though! I don't think they are affiliated with PetSmart other than they use their facilities so I have no qualms with PetSmart and will continue to shop there when needed.I also have received various phone calls (over 10 within the last month) trying to schedule follow up appointments. I feel like they are stalking me and it's not impressive. I know they are not doing it cause they care, they are doing it for the profit. I even called just to get an estimate and I asked them to remove my future appointment and they ignored that request and called me the day of the apt and said I missed the appointment. That was annoying. All in all, it really seems like this vet is in it for money and not care for your pets - this is sad. Read Less

This place is the pits. Over priced rip off. Forget about their very expensive health care plan and uncompassionate vets. Our experience was terrible. First, the vet truly wasn't concerned about our pets. Second, our cats were diagnosed as being worm-free, but when we took them to another vet, he found 2 types of worms. Third, the ear cleaning we paid for wasn't performed properly. After we got home, we could see how filthy our cat's ears still were.Aside from their lousy practices, they also put your pet on a cold stainless steel table, and that's a lousy surface for any pet to have to be placed upon for an examination. David's Animal Clinic is just down the road and I highly recommend them over Banfield. Read Less
