We went to this vet when we lived in Altamonte springs with our dog and loved it. I've now moved to Gainesville which is two hours north. When my dog got an ear infection, we tried a vet up there. Well, fast forward to my day off and here we are driving back from Altamonte springs with a happier dog in the backseat. Dr.M takes the time to know her patients and makes sure that her solutions are easy and affordable. She has never once asked to run an expensive test unless it was really necessary. i took our dog for skin infection 3 times and paid about $800.infection never went away and all they had to say was bring it back in for other appointment. that would cost another 200 something she told them i just lost my job due to cancer and they said nothing they can do about it. We started taking our dog Buddy to Westmonte Animal Clinic right after we adopted him from Seminole County Animal shelter. We find the staff there to be very professional and very nice. They treat Buddy as he was a member of their family. The office is very clean and I did not notice that strong odor that I remember experiencing at other Vet offices we have used in the past. The prices for services seem to be on par with other clinics in the area charge. If you have a new pet, or are currently looking for a new veterinarian for your four legged child, then I recommend that you give Dr Matagrano and her staff a try. Read Less

My four legged son, Ace, has struggled with frequent ear infections especially over the past couple of years. He's a swimmer with floppy ears and regardless of my care; great dog food, plush dog beds, treats, thunder jackets, lol...this particular infection appeared worse than ever. They were able to give me an appointment the very same day (with my crazy schedule this was huge) Also, I'm a traveler so naturally I am always nervous about finding a good nail salon, mechanic, but we all know, most importantly a good vet! I've had the best and I've also experienced the worst, walking away feeling taken advantage of financially without feeling like I've received the best treatment. The cost of my treatment was over what I expected, read on, however Lisa (Dr. Matagrano) really listened to me and gave Ace a solution to his recurring problem being a probable food allergy. Starting out traveling, he stayed with my mother, for me, a painstaking year where he looked after her gardening, no doubt cooking, etc and still suffered an ear infection. With Ashley's help, (communication is so vital) Lisa presented me with the solution being a food allergy. Ace has always eaten well, salmon didn't work in his earlier years from intolerable room clearing gas. Lisa continued to listen and presented me with options of food making me feel involved in the solution. Ultimately, I'm a thinker so regardless of their listening I was innately skeptical thinking of some contract agreement with a dog food co. ''Tis the world we live in, can you blame me?! Well I've finished my own research and I'm all aboard. I received an ice pack (it's a little humid here regardless of my A/C functioning well) which I didn't even ask for with a date to remind me of his second and final treatment which must remain refrigerated. They understood my schedule, means to treat him, and I went home with everything I need to take care of him, the dog food with great advice on his transition, the best OTC wash for after his swims and as needed cleanings (whys checked) and I'm finally confident, in two weeks time, he can enjoy swimming and the rest of my days with him without me feeling guilty like I didn't clean enough, or maybe I should cut back on swimming; what he loves most. Final price tag? Priceless. For the record, I expected to pay for a simple culture and treatment. Now I have an indefinite answer. I never write reviews but here's a novel. Sorry, not sorry! Everyone was overall polite. The prices were too high and they definitely pushed me into getting services I was not wanting from them. When I got home I realized half of my cats claws weren't trimmed when paid for it and my cat came down with something like the flu after his visit. I recently rescued my pup from Orange County Animal Services and had to find a new vet for her. Thankfully, I'd always pass this one since it's so close to home. I checked out all of the positive reviews and decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, they waive the first exam fee for rescued dogs within 2 weeks of adoption. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!? The vet and staff were absolutely amazing while we were there. To make things even sweeter, they called me the next day to check on my new pup AND sent me a welcome card in the mail within the week! Services are great and they treat your pets with lots of care. HOWEVER they do, as some other reviews mentioned, charge a lot for procedures that may not be entirely necessary. Make sure you look at what they're charging you for and the relationships between the needs and wants if you don't want to spend a lot of money on your visit to the vet. I've been taking both of my dogs here since they were born (one 7 years ago and the other dog is 1 year old) and the vets here have been more than attentive and caring, but the charges are something to definitely look out for.Read Less

I don't know, hard to be the one in a bunch of glowing reviews, but:Brought our cat here for allergy issues.They gave us an antibiotic that immediately caused chronic and horrible diarrhea everywhere... to the point where when we called them 3 days later, they said to immediately stop giving him the med.Then, for 2 weeks after we stopped giving the med, the cat continued to have bad diarrhea and refused to eat.So hey. bring him in and we'll charge you a fee and we'll sell you prescription food.Ok.  So another 2 weeks after that and the cat STILL has chronic diarrhea and now they want to do blood tests, another visit fee... and give him a different antibiotic????  And shrugged the whole thing off as 'it happens sometimes with this drug'.My wife has the patience for this kind of BS, I do not.  I will scour Central Florida until I find a vet that doesn't nickel and dime us to the point of doing more harm than good to our pet.If this is the 'high standard' other reviewers are talking about, then all our pets are doomed to suffer.  I have to put my foot down once more and tell my wife:  We'll find another vet.  One whose solution to a problem isn't to cause MORE problems. Let me tell you something about my cat: she's a real diva. Every cat stereotype that's out there, she's basically that. So when it came time to bring her to the vet I was biting my nails with anxiety. She's my baby and I was worried for her AND I was worried for the people that would have to deal with her.Now I ended up not going along for the appointment but I got a surprising report back from my boyfriend. I guess the staff knew how to win her over. She didn't hiss or scratch at anyone and she even came out of her crate. I was told they said they wished more cats were like her! Talk about my mind being blown. We took her to the emergency vet prior and she hissed at the vet when she hadn't even touched her yet. The emergency vet said she'd probably have to be sedated when she'd see her normal vet. However, they didn't have to sedate her because they knew how to handle her and did such a fabulous job with her. The visit was quick and painless and they were out in a few minutes. The emergency clinic recommended Westmonte and I'm glad they did! Read Less

I absolutely LOVE this place! The Staff and Doctor are very friendly. The moment you walk in, you can tell how much they truly care about their patients. I found out about Westmonte through a friend and I was very impressed with the Staff's attentiveness from day one. My Little Ben just got neutered and I could not be more pleased with his results! His surgery went very smooth and he even left the place wagging his tail! I know they did everything they could to make this neuter process as easy for my little guy as they possibly could. Our thirteen-year-old female cat was starting to pass blood clots, so for the first time in a long time, she went to the vet. The reviews brought me to Westmonte and I couldn't be happier.They diagnosed a bladder infection, pumped her full of fluids and antibiotics and the improvement was almost immediate. She had a followup today and still has the infection, but it's improved. She goes back in two weeks.Can't say enough about Dr Lisa, Heather and Bianca, who keep you abreast of everything, from treatment to cost, each step of the way. And most importantly, they have great personalties and "bedside" manner. While it is getting expensive, that's kind of a necessary evil. Dr. Lisa is great. She is very caring and loving to the animals, and very attentive to the owners. Dr. Lisa was taking good care of our dog. She seems to be open minded and knowledgeable about different treatment options. Also, Westmonte Animal Clinic is conveniently located, and clean. However, we had issues with the billing. It felt that the unnecessary extra charges were pushed on us as a must-do-matter-of-fact procedures. You may want to question every charge, and to do your research on the "needed" procedures EVERY time you are given the preliminary charges. There ALWAYS WILL BE EXTRA stuff you did not ask for (like nail trim). This did not feel right. Third time we went to Westmonte Clinic, I made a mistake of not asking about the total cost of the visit when I called and scheduled an appointment for the specific vaccine. My husband went with our dog and was charged for unnecessary procedure. He said that he was given the invoice as a matter of fact, and was told that heartworm test MUST BE DONE (it was done five month ago and the dog is taking good preventive medication). If you do not want to constantly be on your toes expecting something extra charged, look elsewhere. I wish, Dr. Lisa discussed all the procedures she chose while in the room with us, rather than her assistant bringing the invoice with the additional things on it. You have to have a decent knowledge of the medical care for the pets, so you can determine what procedures are unnecessary. !!! I recently adopted an amazing pup that had a few health issues and I unfortunately did not know of any good (& decently priced vets) in the area since I recently moved to Orlando. I asked around and looked on Yelp & decided to book an appointment at Westmonte Animal Clinic. I originally brought in Pepper for her spay but was unable to do so because of a few health issues that I was unaware of but Dr. Matagrano noticed right away. Pepper is on the road to being once healthy canine thanks to the care provided by Dr. Matagrano & her staff. They are always so sweet with my pup and explain everything thoroughly. They also bring you the bill before just in case you have any questions & you won't have any surprises during checkout. They also wave the exam fee if you bring your rescue within 2 weeks of being adopted so that was a nice surprise. Pepper actually likes going to the vet so that should speak for itself. I had previously went to the clinic at pet smart for my dogs condition. They would do the same test every visit which would came back negative every time, and each visit was very expensive. I looked for a new place to take my dog and came across Westmonte animal clinic since it had great reviews. I was very happy with the whole staff and Dr. Lisa. She seemed to know what was wrong right away. The medications she prescribed worked very fast and although it is the beginning of a plan of action, I feel confident making this my dogs new vet. I brought my new rescue dog in to get spayed by Dr. Matagrano this week and was very impressed. She was very kind, funny, and thorough. She took the time to do a full exam on my dog and found problems like a skin infection that the prior vet completely missed. The poor puppy had been scratching like crazy and thanks to Dr. Matagrano, she is finally on the mend! The doctor suggested we postpone her spay until her skin infection had time to heal, which I found thoughtful and wise. Dr. Lisa is amazing and her staff is amazing.  They treat our animals as if they were their own.   They are aware of any financial issues and always discuss those upfront before any treatments (it gets kind of pricey when you have an elder cat, an elder rescue, and a rambunctious scallywag like our young cat. Having 3 quadrupeds is pricey but they've always found a way to fit our budget)  What's even worse if you have 3 cats and they all have dietary needs and allergies!   Dr. Lisa fixed that for us through a lot of trial and error.   We worked with her to find the correct food to feed all of our cats.  I can't even believe in this day and age, they take the time out to call to follow up and personally call after an appointment just to ask  how any of our little quadrupeds is amazing.  They really do care.  The quality and customer service lays in how great they treat their animals patients. My husband and I adopted a rescue and they have taken care of him with kid gloves.  He's a smush faced short haired Persian named Sampson, he's a little bit weathered and he'll need attention for life - but they understand that.  I think Sampson loves Dr. Lisa too. :)Honestly, there is no other place we would take our pets. Doctor Lisa and staff are very kind and pleasant,. I believe they have quality care as well, but,...what I don't like is how the business is run. I would be the only patient there and would still be waiting 20 minutes to be seen while they're chit-chatting in the back non work related,...this happened all 4 visits so far. The other thing is an assistant would come in with an invoice loaded with suggested procedures, now I'm all for taking care of your pet and I understand this is a business, but I just felt like they put this above the care of my pet because I explained I was out of work and they were willing to let my dog go ill before working with me. Extrememly expensive and a lot of hidden charges. The practice has a lot of rules - the customer really has no say on some of the treatment they insist on. I have had may cats - never paid more than $135 for a yearly visit with shots - including the feline leukemia shot. This vet? Just under $250. I will return to Lock Haven, where I should have gone in this first place. Would not recommend. Read Less
