As a pet owner for the last 45 years, I can say with certainty that this is the best veterinary center I've ever seen.  All the staff, and I mean all, is helpful, pleasant and wonderful to deal with.  Dr Kuehnel is gentle, takes his time, explains things well and has a very conservative approach to treating my 18 year old cat.  He doesn't do unnecessary procedures and tests to build the bill.  I couldn't recommend this place more highly! I am an animal lover who has had small dogs and exotic animals all of my life. I have a 7 yr old female Chihuahua  who had one eye that did not blink along with one side of her mouth (dewlap ) hanging. She was lethargic and seemed very ill. I saw West Boca Animal Hospital online and made an appointment to see Dr. Kuehnel. I walked into the room with 2 techs and eventually the doctor. I told the doctor about my dog's eye of which he replied, "I don't see anything wrong with her eye". I actually told him to pull her bottom lid down to show him how cherry red it was. He then said, oh I see it. Then we spoke and he said, looks like partial facial paralysis. I looked at the symptoms online so I knew that seemed right. I also asked if he could check the pressure  that eye for glaucoma since it appeared she was blind. He did  and said it is from the paralysis.He asked about anything else I said actually I would like adult blood tests and i was done. I asked him to do a liver enzyme and CBC on her. He never suggested any blood work. I asked for adult blood work .Which he did.  I had told him that my animal was raised all natural and I do not give her drugs unless necessary.  He told me he could give me an antihistamine for her head. I said you mean like a Benadryl. He gave me a bottle of pills. They drew blood and I paid $400.He said he would call me tomoroow with the results. That evening my dog was so I'll I thought she would need a hospital. The next day no phone call. I called in the afternoon for the results. I was told Dr. Kuehnel was off and a tech would call me back. I got a voicemail from the tech to call her. I called back she was in a meeting. I asked the receptionist if the blood work was okay. She said, everything is negative. I asked for her to email me the results she said the tech will call me back. The tech called and said, calcium and phosphorus  was high.  I asked her to email me the report. Actually when I looked at the report, protein was out of range high and lymphocytes were high. When I was there the doctor suggests an antihistamine for her head. I said you mean like Benadryl? Instead I was what I was  given was an antinflamatory not an antihystamine  (Rimadyl).  I asked if Dr. Kuehnel could call me because now i was really upset since my animal was so ill and her tests were off. I told her I'm returning this drug it was not something discussed with the other doctor and in would never give my dog this drug. Rimadyl is for hip dysplasia  and after surgery for pain. Internet states. Not given for facial paralysis. She said, we don't takeback drugs.  Price $30. I asked to have the doctor call me . Another night with no sleep. Some hours in the day my dog seemed okay. Then out of no where she would fall I'll. I get a call Friday 8am from Dr. Simon. I was woken out of my sleep. I told her my dog was I'll. She replied, I'm just calling to go over the blood tests no discuss the dog since I never met you. I said, please have Dr Kuehnel call me. Saturday comes, no call. I called after 2pm and asked to speak to Dr Kuehnel. She said I'll him call you. He called me back and started yelling at me how he's entitled to have 2 days off and surely I don't expect him to call me on his days off. I started to talk as I was in shock. He went on how I like to talk a lot. I stopped him and said, I haven't been able to say a work. He continued to be so out of line and nasty.  I could take it so I said. I think you are so unprofessional  and I'm done. Never asked about my dog. Was an experience that in my 60 yrs on this planet and owning dogs, iguanas, rabbits ,monies, and a cat, I've never had  and hope to never go through again. As I'm writing this review, the phone rings and it's Dr Kuehnel trying to apologize. I said, you know you need to have compassion as a vet and be symphathetic when someone's animal is ill. He tried to undo what he did. He started to tell me to go to another doctor if which I replied , I intend to. I added, you called me so I don't write a review about you. That's the reason. I said, I going to wish you well but I'm hanging up. He continued and I hung up. This was a nightmare. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Seek a different vet hospital if you expect compassion and find a doctor who will actually care. Read Less

I came in with my 2 dogs and my 2 year old so it was a bit crazy for me and bianca  in particular was a rock star. She made it all go so smoothly. Our dog Daisy was a patient at WBVC for about a year...we switched from another vet...Daisy had cancer and we knew her time with us was getting shorter and shorter...we took her to WBVC last week to have her put down...she was starting to really decline...it was one of the most difficult things we have had to do...the doctor and staff at WBVC were amazing! They put us in a nice quiet room with a soft bed on the floor and dimmed lights with candles with Daisy...we said our goodbyes and she was very peacefully put down...they were all very nice and sympathetic...they truly care...here it is a week later and we got a sympathy card in the mail signed by the entire staff...I have never had that happen :) means a lot! My dog was a patient here for about 12 years before we switched her somewhere else. Whenever we came in she was treated with love and respect. That being said, her vet missed a major problem. We made sure to get her teeth cleaned with anesthesia every year to avoid having her teeth needing to be pulled. The last time we did her X-rays and cleaning we got the all clear that everything was fine- we switched her to a new vet a month later just to see what they had to say and she ended up needing 13 teeth pulled. Absolutely amazing! I called in to get a quote to fix my cat and front desk lady was amazing (I believe her name was Jennifer), she gave me quote, explained to me the whole process and what kind of vaccines I have to done for my cat besides fix. By far the best vet experience I've had in the past 3 months. I've taken my new pup to 3 different vets since getting her as I haven't really felt a true/safe connection to any of the other vets, staff, or offices in general. All of that changed today, when we were greeted by Carla at the front desk with the biggest smile! She was super sweet to our chocolate lab pup which made her super comfortable (most importantly), and was incredible nice to us on our first visit into the office. We were promptly shown to the exam room, where we were then greeted by Katrina. Katrina took her time with us and really made our pup feel special as well.  A big thanks to her for all of her time. We are very pleased with the staff, both medical and admin, at West Boca. They are responsive, especially to a helicopter Mom like myself, and always try to either get you in to see the medical staff or allow you to bring your pet in, leave her and have her checked by one of the medical team at their convenience. And I find that they don't let your pet sit in a cage for hours; usually you get back home and the vet is calling to say all is well and come back and get your pet. I've owned dogs and other various animals over my life. Moved around enough that I've had to change vets a lot, having used many. My wife had always used one for her pets before we met. West Boca Vet. at the time, I needed someplace new again, and tried them out.Their staff? Super friendly, pet loving and very capable. Their vets? Awesome. It's a family team. My first visit to west Boca Vet. For a one year check up and switching from another vet . It's not very often you walk into a place that everyone is in such a great mood ! From the clients there pets , receptionist , Adam who I assume is the mascot of the buisness . We loved Dr Haskin immediately he took the time to review the notes of the previous Vet. Then suggested 2 three year shots which I loved along with here exam .They trimmed her nails , took my insurance . Filed the claim and it was half the cost of the other vet ! I recently took my playboy, Tommy to this office.I have been to multiple vets throughout Boca from Clint Moore Animal Hospital to Woof Gang Bakery and I have to say as a college student, this place is the most affordable one; not only that but they actually fix the issue my dog had. I'm very disappointed with this Veterinary Center. I really wanted to like them. I made a point of calling and asking around for quotes because obviously- going to the vet is fucking expensive!My baby Charlie isn't getting any younger. He'd started limping which is obviously very concerning. We called around about X-rays and a checkup to figure out what was going on with him. I ended up going with these guys. Front desk was very kind, I felt the nurse wasn't a good listener but overall nice. The doc seemed kind of "intense". I appreciate the kindness, but that doesn't mean shit to me when you're smiling in my face and ripping me off at the same damn time!I was told it would be about $280, plus meds. Because Charlie was being difficult they had to sedate him. I was asked to come back within an hour. I got a call back from the doc about how he seemed to have arthritis and that he wanted to send the x-rays off to be looked at by a radiologist. I did not want this, but agreed to it because it seemed like something that needed to be done. I realized after the fact what a load of bullshit that was. They charged me an extra $75 for it and that was the last I ever heard about it.I come to pick up my dog and the bill has gone up to almost $400- plus they charged me for the meds. Never a-fucking-gain! I've heard from them ONCE since this check up. And that was just to make sure medication was going well. Did they call to tell me they found something- if anything on Charlie's x-rays? Hell no! So what was the point of sending them off? Other than to charge me out the ass! I just got my Golden Retriever puppy, Sammy, a few weeks ago and I wanted to make sure my puppy was well taken care of especially this being my first time having a large breed dog. I heard of West Boca Veterinary Center and saw the amazing reviews they have online, so I decided to check them out. I went in today and WBVC definitely lives up to the hype. Your greeted with a smile upon arriving and they even knew who we were right as we stepped through the door. Dr. Kuehnel was amazing and even told me a little bit about Golden Retrievers and what his plans were for us in the future to make sure everything went well with his development.  The front desk also gave me a binder with today's visit, emergency hospitals in the area, etc. Everyone was beyond nice and very accommodating, I already scheduled Sammy's next appointment. Took my ailing dog to this place, had dr. Kuehnel check him out. I was told the pet needed a battery of tests  to avoid going  the hospital. Upon agreeing and paying the hefty fee, I was  casually informed by dr. Kuehnel that he had no idea what was wrong with the animal and that I needed to go the hospital anyway. So, after spending a lot of time and money, I found myself back at square one. When we adopted our dog from Tri-County Animal Shelter, we were referred to bring him here and have been so happy this last year with the WBVC. We have a senior dog and they have taken really great care of him. They are very fair in pricing and always willing to squeeze you in when needed. Every staff member is friendly, gracious, attentive, and makes you feel like your *pet* matters, not just your continued business. The offices are modern and fully computerized. We had to take our golden retriever in to be put to sleep. We were Grief stricken. The staff and Dr were so kind and gentle toward the whole experience. Our precious fur baby got the best and most caring treatment during this time too. We returned home and shortly after we received a beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered from the staff. Since we moved to Florida we have always come here for our rottweiler. She had a lot of problems over the course of 3 years so we made constant visits. For 3 years West Boca Veterinary Center were very professional and cared deeply about our dog's health. The office always has a very warm atmosphere. I will always appreciate the care they showed for our dog and especially for making her final moments so peaceful and painless when she had to pass away. WOW what an experience! We had previously went to a vet much closer to our house (Boca Midtowne Animal Hospital) but realized quickly they did not deserve our business. Please avoid Boca Midtown Animal Hosital AT ALL COSTS and just drive straight to West Boca Veterinary Center!! We realized what an absolute difference West Boca Veterinary Center was the second we stepped foot in their office. My puppy loved the Vet and the vet tech that saw him. The receptionist's were so kind. We even left with a goodie bag for our puppy with a toy, treats, free samples of heartworm and flea medicine.
