Half these reviews clearly are by ex-employees. Dr Martin is extremely honest & humble. I live in Hobe Sound & commute to Boynton just due to the extra care I feel I get. Or the fact I get “care” at all. Smiles go a long way when you’re dealing with a member of the family. From my gorgeous/perfect Pomeranian :), to my cute little Yorkie & my independent Sheltie all are treated with immense love & care. I never met a vet that I could honestly look at and say, right now it’s just too much is their any other option- all I heard is what kind of money were you thinking-my bill was discounted purely off of my comment to what I could do. I cannot attest to the quality of the animal services provided at this hospital; however, I can say that any young person interested in looking for an internship here should WALK AWAY RIGHT NOW. This place is a joke. I have been jerked around for the past 2 months. I was told that the company DOES NOT do internships, but a part-time position was open for me. I submitted my resume, called and spoke to Randi on and off for months before the summer. I then arrive in Boynton Beach ready to work and call to schedule my job interview. Randi tells me that she's "confused" because she thought I was being hired for an INTERNSHIP which she told me is "MUCH different than a job since internships are UNPAID." I explain that while I would love to spend an entire summer unpaid, I do have to pay for college, so that won't be possible. She tells me that she will try to find me a job and ASURES me that she will call me the next day. She does not. I try calling her two days after that and she does not return my call. FINALLY, a WEEK later she calls me to say that they are not willing to hire me since they would have to train me and I would only be around for the summer. I explain how frustrated I am because of all the miscommunication and she hangs up on me. If this is how this practice treats their people, I can only imagine how it treats it's animals. I am extremely disappointed. Read Less

I wrote this letter to them and they chose to ignore it!. Now I have to bring a civil suit against them. Don't bring your animal here if you love your dog or cat. They are all about the money and don't care for your pet! I am writing to you because I had been taking my dog Marley to you since October 2017, with complaints of labored breathing, lack of energy, lose stool with blood in her stool and blood shot eyes. I even brought you pictures and a video. You did blood work and gave me medicine that would make Marley feel better for a few days and then she would relapse. After seeing three doctors at your practice, and four months later I finally took her to another veterinarian, within about 5 minutes, he looked at the blood results your office had done on two occasions and noticed that her Thyroid was extremely low and that her eyes were very dry, when I described her symptoms he stated it sounds like she needs to have her thyroid checked. He asked if he could do a completed thyroid panel. He also said that her eyes were dry which was a symptom of low Thyroid, in addition to her labored breathing. All three of you got it wrong. The fact that every time I bring my dog in and she was seen by a different doctor is also something that is inexcusable. How are you supposed to get to know a dog if she always sees a different doctor? In addition, some records are at one office and some are at another and your systems are not linked, which is archaic. Your office blamed her lack of energy and labored breathing on her age, and you completely missed her low Thyroid. See attached results of Thyroid Panel where her level is .04. My dog was ill for months and your office treated her for everything except what was making her sick. I am furious and wasted hundreds of dollars and months of concern that she would pass away. She just kept getting sicker and sicker. This should have been diagnosed in October 2017. I am demanding that you return $1221.10 to me. This is for the 2 laser visits I have left over and the visits to your office from October to February. I should charge you for the Thyroid test done by the other vet and the Trypsin, Cobalamin and Folate test also, since you were negligent in reading her blood labs correctly. I am applauded at the incompetence and am using restraint to not publicize on social media what has happened here assuming you will do the right thing! Any correspondence on this matter should be in writing. I expect a check by March 15, 2018 or I will refer this matter to an attorney. Read Less

Originally tried another location and had a bad experience. I assumed it was a fluke and the Dr. Reached out to apologize. I accepted and made another attempt (everyone deserves a second chance I suppose) WRONG! The Dr. Has made it quite clear to me that they are only worried about the bottom line. In fact I brought a new "patient” and was told I would still have to pay the exam fee...even though the Dr did zero!! I'd rather spend my money with people who CARE about the results. Just a god damn disgrace. I will be certain the make sure this is a known fact to anyone who so much as inquires about these Clowns.... RIPOFF REPORT. P.S. They quoted me nearly $1,000 to find out why my cat has a bloody mucus. That was just to determine the results. Oh and a supposed vet of 30 years als me to hold my cat by the sidea and not the scruff...yea i got bit in the meanwhile. Read Less

This is the second time I felt like I was being scammed by this place! My dog had some kind of head trauma, so I brought him in here and they gave me the option of giving him blood work or an X-ray on his head! I asked for the Blood work to be done first because it was cheaper and I am not made of money, If I had not found anything in the blood work I would have ordered for the X-ray  after if it was needed! They proceeded to do both and charged me $600 (Merry Christmas)! Two days have gone by now and I still have not gotten a call about his X-ray! This place is all about nickel and diming you for unnecessary procedures! Needless to say I will not be going back here again! Read Less

Dr. Rob Martin and his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital are kind, caring and considerate. Rather than trying to prolong the inevitable - while racking up a veterinarian bill - they finally talked some sense into me that it was "okay to let your cat go - you've done all you can do." My family recently said goodbye to Myrtle. After 14 good years, she joins her sisters Lily and Maxi across the Rainbow Bridge. Colonial Animal Hospital offered many options regarding Myrtle and after choosing one, they left me alone in the treatment room to say goodbye. A vet tech returned explaining that she was going to take Myrtle to another room and prep her. Moments later, Myrtle returned with a catheter inserted into the vein of her leg. Dr. Martin explained that before euthanasia is performed, a port is inserted to make it easy and stress-free to administer the injection. I'm not a doctor, but think I've explained this correctly. Basically, the older animals are harder to treat and installing the port helps with the process. I remember finding Myrtle living out of a trash Dumpster at the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce in 2003. I caught her, fed her, and brought her home. My wife complained as we already had two cats. We now had 3 cats - but no children. Back when the economy was good, she went to the vet on a regular basis - not so much so when the economy was bad and we couldn't afford it. My original thought was to have her fixed and remain an outdoor cat. That never worked out. Many years later, Lily and Maxi moved on and two new kittens joined the Lewis household. After they crossed the Rainbow Bridge, my 7-year-old twins Rebecca and William adopted Ash and Frost a few months ago. My kids love cats. My daughter Rebecca loved Myrtle the most, but it became a quality of life issue. A quality of life issue that Dr. Martin continued to suggest "the end is here." I finally took his advice. Sometimes you just have to ask yourself - "where would Myrtle be today if I hadn't rescued her from a trash Dumpster?" According to Dr. Martin, she never would have made it out of the Dumpster. I've never had a negative experience with Dr. Martin or his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital. Polite and friendly - they explain every procedure. From making the appointment, explaining any procedure or test, to the fees being assessed, I was fully informed every step of the way. As a small local practice, I was impressed and never had an unanswered question. William E. Lewis Jr. Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Read Less

I found this place through Yelp. Unfortunately I didn't realize at the time that they had a second older location (this location only has three stars). The first vet who saw my Maltese took X-rays and said she needed surgery for a broken femur bone but she was not qualified to do the surgery and would check with the owner Dr Martin to see if he felt confident that he could do the surgery. He said he did. He did the surgery and my dog was never the same. She never healed properly and was never able to walk on her leg again. A few days ago she started howling if we tried to pick her up. We took her to a different vet and he took X-rays. Not only did he say that the surgery was done incorrectly but she also has a fractured pelvis! My new vet called to get the X-rays from before the surgery and Dr Martin still hasn't sent them but did admit to me via text that the fracture was there in the X-rays. HE DIDNT EVEN EXAMINE THE X-RAYS BEFORE PERFORMING THE SURGERY!!! Read Less

Without exaggeration and emotions, just Fact's-- We brought our 18 weeks french bulldog in for 4 days, the One and Only reason why we decided to keep him there instead of incomparably better dog resort Simmons Veterinary, was ability to pick him up on Memorial day (Simmons was closed) There we go: They said to bring His toys but NEVER mentioned that toys will be randomly everywhere, except His cage, we brought His bed, He had a anti fleece collar on (No ONE mentioned ANYTHING abt ANY type of "hazard"   from collar. Now pick up day-- Attendant opened door like he was waiting for us, wow, but (it is always But!)When we brought puppy in,  it wasn't a problem to go in and put him into his cage, not for the pick up. Attendant went in, came out in 4-5 minutes, it is a Long time, considering that the ONLY thing he did right is he brought out Right puppy, and yes He was Alive! ( sorry, that's two things) Puppy looked like he was zombie, zero emotions, He looked scared, it took us good 20 minutes to make him feel back to life. Attendant brought WRONG bed, collar was missing (missing till now) All toys were missing! As I said b4 Thank God, it was Right Puppy! Here comes excuses, the other attendant (of course) started from: It wasn't me, it was some other blah blah blah (we All know how it goes) The bed was wrong -because the right one, he brought after another 4-5 minutes research, was (ready?) washed, (it smelled like pee to me,don't know who's pee!) toys were recovered after another 3-4 minutes research from some office, for the reason (ready?) Hazard (probably puppy could've hang himself on the huge squeezing giraffe,or eat the chewing toy) well I wouldn't use it against him. What the hell are the toys for?! if they don't know that -Toys are the ONLY connection between puppy and Home, then they should work as a prison guards! As well as His bed, not some mature shepherd or rottweiler's bed, but His own Puppy bed from Home!!! Anti fleece collar was stolen and never recovered (not even in manager's office) as much as all attendants were playing "ping pong" throwing responsibilities on each other! Now if I tell you that  this is not the end, would You b surprised...  what we discovered when we reach home and gave our poor smelly boy shower (oops I forgot to mention, manager said "she gave him free bath" such a bs, puppy smelled like homeless) , was chocking, His chest area was all in red spots, I can't explain what is the origin but, (of course) not to be empty worded, we attached pic's. Puppy was house broken before spending 4 night's there, imagine-- He started to pee at home again... They ask you to give them a schedule, just so You will feel like they care, if Only they took him out ON TIME, He wouldn't pee and probably poop, in his cage, and now at home! This is not just a worst experience, this is Torture. Of course they will be doing the same thing over and over, they're  will be bunch of ppl who will accept bs excuses from this place, instead of reacting on obvious malpractice, but together we can beat this concentration camp! I've been bringing my baby kitty Muffin to Colonial Animal Hospital for years -since 2006 as a matter of fact. Dr. Martin is a great veterinarian.  They've always taken great care of the Muffster.  And as supremely awesome as my cat is, there is one problem - she's a shedder.  A really big shedder, with long hair.  So I knew I needed to do something about it.  I called Petsmart first.  Now for the most part my kitty is a loving doll but take her out of her element (our home) and she can turn into a demon.  I have the battle scars to prove it.  So Petsmart gave me an appointment with their "only" cat groomer.  Muffin was mad.  The groomer was scared.  So scared, in fact that she recruited an assistant to help her and they put a burlap sac over my poor baby's head in an attempt to keep her from biting them.  And they still couldn't groom her, because she was thrashing around so badly.  Yes, it was purely amateur hour over at Petsmart and in hindsight I'm ticked off at how they handled the situation. I wonder if they would have liked to have a burlap sac put over their heads when they got mad.  Somehow I don't think they would.  So my traumatized cat and I hightailed it out of there and I decided to make a few more calls. When I called Colonial, the lady on the phone said they had an expert cat groomer at their new veterinary center on Gateway.  She told me to give them a call directly and she gave me the number.  I scoffed at first, thinking no normal human could possibly handle my ornery kitty.  But as I looked around my house at hairballs flying around like so many tumbleweeds I knew I had to do something.Little did I know that John worked there.  I now refer to him as the cat whisperer.  I related my Petsmart experience to him and he agreed that they had no idea what they were doing.  He said he'd been grooming cats for over 20 years.  There was a discussion about possible sedation if Muffin couldn't be calmed, but he said he might not have to do that.  So I set the appointment.Early on a Saturday morning I brought my little angel in.  She was hissing up a storm.  I'm sure if she weren't in her carrier she might have sliced and diced me on the spot. John introduced himself and took the carrier.  I asked him where I should wait.  He said "You can go, I'll call you later."  Call me later?  How much later?  He said "Look.  She's mad right now. You can't reason with a mad cat. We'll calm her down and call you this afternoon."  I was puzzled but his confidence put me at ease.  He didn't seem concerned.  So I went about my day.  At 2 PM sharp I got a call that Muffin was ready to be taken home. When I got there, he said "She's tough, but she's alright."  He didn't have to sedate her.  He said he couldn't groom much around her head because she kept trying to bite the clippers, but otherwise he didn't really have a problem.  Well he gave her a lion cut and a pom pom tail that was truly adorable but the best part was there was no shedding and I no longer have to sweep and vacuum everyday.  It's been nine weeks and I just dropped her off for her next shave. So if you have a difficult animal that needs to be groomed, without hesitation I say come to this new, ultra modern facility for the best experience possible.

Read Less

Read Less

A true team of heroes! Not only does the entire staff treat my 16 yr.old cat as one of their own they welcome me in like family. Dr. Katz truly saved my cats life when he got locked in my hot car in the parking lot by smashing in the window rescuing the cat and immediately supplying him with fluids to bring down his temperature. I cannot think of another facility that would ever show such an immense care and love for animals. Thank you team Colonial!

Florida is a Beautiful place, there are plenty of great pet resorts, Do NOT Be Fooled as we were, place is horrible! Read Less
