Dr. Fidel recommended and unnecessary and dangerous procedure on our 14 yr dog.  The wound never healed and he insisted that we were overreacting.  The wound stayed open and became ulcerated.  We were advised to take her to another vet who was aware of other issues with Dr. Fidel and told us that based on what she had, her age, and physical condition that this was totally unnecessary.  We feel it hastened her death at most and definitely her quality of life for her last months of life. My special, beautiful , sweet maltese Brittany died on Friday. Yes, she may have been suffering from intestinal cancer,but after 2 wks of supposed care from dr dysert, supposed Affordable Animal Hospital, neither us or he had a clue. Finally went to Dr. Fidel who x-rayed and gave us medicine and learned why our girl was dying before our eyes. It was her time to go in dignity and with out pain and Dr Fidel did all the right, kind and painless things to help take her into the peaceful world that she so deserved. Dr. Fidel has cared for 8 of our dogs and 2 cats over the years. He has prolonged the life of 4 of those animals, and caught some unusual illnesses and saved the life of a couple others. He is truly an amazing and most of all caring Veterinarian! He has a calm demeanor with the animals, and is compassionate with the "parents". We highly recommend him. After trying out several veterinarians when we first moved to Florida, I am so happy to have found the right one. Dr. Fidel is the most amazing and caring Vet I know. When visiting Florida several years ago, I was flying with my puppy, Sandie. I was stroking her head and noticed something strange just above her eye. Of course, being away from home, and not having access to my Vet, I needed to find one immediately. I took out the phone book and started making calls. Hence, I found Dr. Fidel. His office staff was courteous and attentive. They told me to come right over. I walked in the office, and they took us right away. Thanks to Dr. Fidel, he found and removed a very large and engorged tick bite from Sandie's head. I was so grateful that the tick was out and that Sandie was going to be okay. I asked Dr. Fidel what I owed him,and i could not believe that he said nothing. All he wanted was for me to tell other people about him and where his office was, which I still do today. So, after all this, I have since moved to Florida and Dr. Fidel is now Sandie's Vet. BEWARE DR DAVID FIDEL KILLED MY CAT! I took my cat in to have her anal glands expressed and 36 hours later she was dead. She has a heart murmur and he gave her a high dose of steroid which put her into congestive heart failure. He took her away from me before I could blink an eye into the back and without asking me or informing me he gave her a shot of an antibiotic/steroid. The next day, my cat who was under my sister's care, was having a lot of trouble breathing. My sister called him and said she was having a hard time breathing. He said that this is normal and she was anxious from the shot. 6 hours later she was dead. This was a medical emergency and she needed to be rushed to the hospital. There was time to save her, but my sister trusted the vet. If you look under steroid and heart murmur , it is contraindicated to give steroids. it puts them into congestive heart failure. I called the next day and his receptionist said " good luck trying to reach him, he is out on the high seas fishing". I told her what happened and she said , she was an old cat, she died. She was the most insensitive person I have ever had the speak to . I finally spoke to Dr Fidel 2 days later. I asked him, if he would give any of his 3 dogs that roam freely in the office, a steroid if they had a heart murmur, and there was no answer. All I got was I am sorry. Unfortunately, an animal is considered property by Florida law and you can only sue for the worth of the pet, not what the pet is worth to you. Health professionals that take care of humans have to be diligent beyond what can be imagined because we can be sued for our life savings. Vets do not have this fear in them to stay diligent. We must change this. My poor kitty died because of Dr Fidel. Look for a doctor that has a busy office, look at reviews, stay with you pet at all times, and ask questions before they do anything. I think Dr.Fidel is the best vet and person. He genuinely cares about hid patients and he's very fair in price. Beau is my ,13 year old bijon and about 10 years. Ago, Dr. Fidel took over and beau had been better ever since. He had a few problems recently that my dog created. But Dr. Fidel took care of him. Beau has brein there for a few weeks. I trust Dr Fidel and his whole staff with my precious dog. Everyone is very efficient and friendly. His groomer lori is awesome .Vpi insurance is also great. Its been a while but I was using Dr, Fidel from the time my baby Emily was just 5 weeks old and now she's 13. You rarely find Dr's with as much compassion and love for his "job" as Dr. Fidel has. I can't tell you how many times he came to the rescue and fixed ailments for my pets. I have a picky dog and she doesnt just let anyone do things to her but she loved him and that was good enough for me! This is a vet that you dont just go see because you have to once a year, he's more like a member of the family.. wish I could steal him away and bring him to Virginia! Read Less
