Giving them a 1 star rating is being generous. Because they clearly showed me if you are not physically in front of them - they don't care about your pet. No one can help you unless It's the Vet - with anything!! And they overload the Vets schedule so much with visits surgeries etc if you have an issue it can't be resolved even within the same day. Which is a scary situation when your pet relies on certain daily medications to feel well. Go to the university pkwy location!! Read Less

We had a very bad experience last week when I stopped in to check out this location since we recently moved, to possibly make an appointment, and to get meds for my cat, who has a Wellness Plan & has been with Banfield (different location) for many years. We have been to many Banfield's also, while travelling & moving, and the one person at the desk with who we talked to was very different from any other employee weve dealt with at Banfield, had no customer service ability, was extremely unhelpful & unknowledgible, and seemed to be the only person there. Based on this experience, I did not make an appt. for my pet, as if they allow someone like that to work there, I am scared to let them even touch my pet, based on how she acted & her ridiculous answers to my questions, and how very non-helpful she was. I could not find a medication in the store, so I asked her about it since I wanted to posdibly make an appt. for my cat, too. She said the med was on a card which I had to bring to cashier to get - I already knew that, but could not find the card in the section she said - her reply was, "they're all over the store", as she sat there with nothing to do, hand on her cheek, elbow on the desk like she was bored. Found out later, after asking a PetSmart cashier, that there were no cards for this med, but she had the med at her register. While talking with this young lady about why I was needing to make appt for my cat other than just a check up, I was shocked at how little she knew about basic pet care, and she flat out told me that there are no options for flea meds anymore for cats, that none of them work anymore. (My cat's meds were not working). She knew nothing about why they might not be working, except for saying that none of them worked anymore due to fleas becoming immune to meds, and when I realized how unknowledgible & unhelpful she was, just for kicks, I asked her, "Then what do you suggest?" She put her hand on her cheek again, and shrugged her shoulders, without a verbal reply. She did not offer to ask someone else, or to get me an appt. with the vet, and did not even suggest natural ways of controlling fleas like using a flea comb, etc. She did not care to help me, or to find someone who could. I expect employees of pet hospitals to at the very least have a little bit of knowledge about pets, like as much as the average pet owner would, but she did not, and some of what she said in our conversation made me feel like staying as far away from that place as I could - I would ndver want this person to have anything to do with the care of my cat - even if she was just a vet tech, or even if she only answered phones & made appointments, as someone like that cannot be trusted with even basic parts of my cat's care. If my cat was a patient there, and I called with an emergency, would this person get me through to someone who could help, or would she pass on important information to the vet that greatly affected my cat? No thanks - problems I do not need. What's most upsetting is the fact that someone like this is actually employed by Banfield, which makes me distrust the company's hiring practices - how will other Banfield locations treat my pet? And to feel safe in taking my loved one to Banfield as a patient, will I have to be leary of every dmployee at any Banfield? We had 1 other bad experience with a Banfield Veternarian in another state, so this makes me wonder. At the other Banfield, when the vet gave us her opinion on our previous cat, my husband said to me, "Let's get out of here now!" Read Less

Banfield is not a good place for your pet care. They let my little dog die because no doctor would tend to him. They were to busy to be able to see him. Also, I think it's ridiculous and wrong that after your pet dies you still have to keep paying for services you're not receiving. I will NOT recommend them to my family, friends and coworkers! DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!! It’s a SCAM!!!! Can’t make an appointment because they claim they don’t have enough vets on staff. We signed up for the puppy package for two dogs = way too much money to be spending when we can’t even get in the door to have our puppies looked at. It’s been 3 months now and we’re swapping to a private vet while foghting with banfields Corp for a refund that we most likely won’t get. Read Less

Since moving to Bradenton earlier this year I have been into this office multiple times with all 3 of my pets. My overall experience has been good up until today. I called at 9 am this morning to reorder medication for my dog. I spoke with Melly who advised me that it would be ordered and I would get a phone call later today when it was ready for pickup. As of 5:45 I had not received a phone call yet and tried to call in only to realize that they had closed early today! I had absolutely no idea that they had different hours today and was not informed of this on my initial call. I am pretty upset that my dog will now have to go without his heart medication until they reopen on Friday. Read Less

I've been taking my dogs here for the last 6 years and am so pleased with the service we get every time. The Optimum Wellness Plans have come in handy for both of my dogs when they became really ill. Dr. Sarah is compassionate and practical and offers the best for my dogs. She loves my dogs like I love them and has such a huge heart!! They have a really great team and we feel like part of the family. Thanks to the Banfield Team for always welcoming us (emergencies or check ups) and making sure we are well taken care of. I have been using Banfield with their wellness plan for about 4 years.  Lucky enough for me my dogs were healthy during that time.  In Sept 2014 my 11 year Boston Terrier starting urinating in the house frequently and urinating more frequently than normal.  I can tell that there was an issue.  I brought him in to Banfield they said it was behavioral that his labs were good so they did no further testing. This behavior came and went for my dog over the next several months .  It came back and progressively got worse in March 2015 so i brought him back in on 03/29/2015.  They diagnosed him with a Urinary tract infection and put him on antibiotics.  After two follow up visits and month of being on the antibiotics my dog was still showing all the same symptoms even though Benfield said he was getting better.  I knew something was not right so I took him to another Vet.  Within 5 minutes of the visit they checked my dog out and found a lump on his prostate. Two days later they had a Dr do an ultra sound in the office where I found out my dog has bladder cancer.  The Vet also informed me Male dogs rarely have Urinary Tract infections as a "primary" issue, in males they are almost always a secondary issue caused by something else so there was no reason to treat him with an antibiotic for a UTI for a month with no further testing .  I complained to Banfield's customer advocate group and told them do not have someone form that location call me. So what happens someone from that location calls me and tells me my dog was getting better , we obviously did not agree so he said he would escalate the issue and I have yet to hear back.  HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM A HORRIBLE COMPANY DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Giving them a 1 star rating is being generous. Because they clearly showed me if you are not physically in front of them - they don't care about your pet. We had a very bad experience last week when I stopped in to check out this location since we recently moved, to possibly make an appointment, and to get meds for my cat, who has a Wellness Plan & has been with Banfield (different location) for many years. Since moving to Bradenton earlier this year I have been into this office multiple times with all 3 of my pets. My overall experience has been good up until today. I have been using Banfield with their wellness plan for about 4 years.  Lucky enough for me my dogs were healthy during that time.  In Sept 2014 my 11 year Boston Terrier starting urinating in the house frequently and urinating more frequently than normal.  I can tell that there was an issue.  I brought him in to Banfield they said it was behavioral that his labs were good so they did no further testing.
