Have two little dogs that have been patients with this clinic for 7 - 8 years now. The office staff makes our trips pleasant and welcoming. The techs are friendly with our dogs, experienced on how to handle them during shots and exams. The doctors depends on you have for the visit. Two I think very highly of. One I always feel like I'm at a used car lot being sold parts I don't need for my dogs. All in all I'm still very happy how my animals are cared for. Read Less

The staff and vets are amazing here. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and they take excellent care of them. They always give good advice and are committed to ensuring the health of your furry family member. One of our dogs has skin issues and they are truly trying to figure out the best option since she has repeatedly flared up. I would give it 5 stars because of the quality of care alone, however it seems to be higher priced than some other local vets which is why I only gave it 4. If you want to order prescription on line stay away from using this vet office you have to purchase from them. I am stuck with a written RX when I fax it to the online company they advise by law they can not take a prescription from the patient it has to come from the Vet. So why was I get a RX when they should know the law. I will no longer visit this vet I have to now take my puppy else to another vet that does not have such strict policy. We have taken our pets here for over 15 years. Dr Scott is the Dr we usually see. We currently have 2 pugs, and 2 cats. The care we receive is outstanding, they do not recommended procedures that are not necessary, he also takes the time to talk to us and advise us on appropriate care for our little ones. Spiteful staff care only about money. I needed flea medication for my dog and they directed me to their premium shopping portal. They don't carry flea meds in the office. Their portal was expensive, so I found the exact same medicine at 1800 pet med considerably cheaper. This staff refused to fax the prescription for the flea meds, instead making me leave work and go to pick up the prescription myself, which turns out to be useless because 1800 pet meds needs the vet to Fax the prescription. This office refused to do that. They don't care about the health of animals, they care about the money they get from pet owners. I'm pulling all of my animals from this vet to a veterinarian that cares about their oath for animal care more than their wallet. Read Less

We had a great visit with Dr. Deshields yesterday. I was really worried about my puppy-sons legs but his calm demeanor made us comfortable. He answered all my questions (even questions about my other puppy-son). We didn't have a solid resolution on my baby's legs but he did give me the info for a orthopedic veterinarian. Dr. DeShields is amazing! We have a 14 1/2 year old Toy Fox Terrier who knocked his hip out of the socket last night. Upon X-ray, they found other issues. Dr. D took time to go over everything with me, and then again when my son arrived. Ashlee and the front desk and the vet techs are wonderful and caring. Luckily, when I brought my cat in, he was only suffering from a bug that was cleared up almost immediately when another vet gave him antibiotics. At this practice, the vet said he had a urinary obstruction (yes, this is a common thing that happens in cats) and that the cat would have to 'hospitalized' and have an expensive (quote: 700+ dollars) procedure. When the cat came home and peed normally, I knew this was fishy. I felt like they were taking advantage of a concerned pet owner and had no clue what was actually wrong with my cat. I think to offer up hundreds of dollars worth of services without really diagnosing the pet is beyond negligent. Please do not waste your time or money at this practice. Read Less

changing my 5star rating down to a 3star ...I recently changed vets after 5years because of customer service for our 2 English Bulldogs ... so was hoping Animal Clinic of Brandon would be the one ... but after today not so sure ... went to had our Bully's nails clipped ... after I ask about their lunch hours ... was told if I make it back by 1150am with our 2nd Bully I could get her done too ... got there at 11:42amjust to get told "ohhh sorry nobody here to clip the nails now" ...but you just told me ??!! what?! I've been a client at Animal Clinic of Brandon for years now. I have multiple cats and a dog. There are 3 doctors that work there and all of them are highly competent, dedicated, and sincere. I've have a cat right now that is sick and they are working very hard to help her get better. Cats that have been sick in the past are still with me now because of the hard work provided by the doctors, techs, and staff. When I had to put one of my dogs to sleep they were all very compassionate; they let me take as much time as I needed to say goodbye to the dog I'd had for almost 15 years. In the end I lost her to cancer and the whole time we were trying to treat her the doctors took their time, explained everything to me and, in the end, made the whole ordeal easier to handle. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Jackson, Dr. Scott, and Dr. DeShields. Even though I've had to say goodbye to many beloved pets over the years everybody at the Animal Clinic of Brandon has always treated me with kindness and respect and I have never had a bad experience there. Surprisingly high ethics found here. Switched to the Animal Clinic of Brandon a few months ago because they were considerably less expensive for the blood glucose curves done periodically for our diabetic Lhasa Apso. We recently scheduled our Shitzu in for a routine dental cleaning and were very pleasantly surprised when the Clinic told us our dog really did not require the cleaning. They could have taken our baby and done the cleaning as we anticipated but declined because they said the teeth were in too good of a condition to warrant the anesthesia risk at his 12 year old age despite his excellent health. We do brush our dogs teeth every night but did see some plague and wanted to ensure our baby did not develop dental or gum problems in the future. We have never had a Vet turn our $ away. We have been pleased with the service we received from this practice in the past and now know we dont have to worry about being gouged in the future. I completely agree with Robert's review. I am new to the area and went here because my dogs nail was ripping off. I didn't want to injury her more, so I brought her in. The vet tech was not helpful. My dog was shaking yet no one seemed concerned. The vet came in and just clipped it, told me to watch it and wait for it to heal. That visit cost me over $100 for less than 5 minutes of their time. The staff is friendly, but the vets don't know how to deal with cats. My cat can be temperamental when she has to go to a vet, but at this vet she's was hissing constantly. I took her in because she had an issue with her eye, the vet was afraid she might bite him so he examined her, said he couldn't really look at the eye because of her hissing, and sent me to an Ophthalmologist for an appt the next day at another clinic. My cat had no issues while the Ophthalmologist examined her even with a bright light being repeatedly shined into her eyes and only hissed at the end of the exam when the Ophthalmologist put drops in her eyes. I said something about how she was at this vet and how I asked to hold her during her examine and this place refused because afraid if my cat bit me I would sue. It's my cat if she's going to bite me, she will bite me whether or not I'm in their office so why would I sue them. I even said that statement to this vet. The Ophthalmologist let me hold my cat while she examined her and the Ophthalmologist commented that my cat wasn't a problem cat and she probably could have examined her without me hold her. The vet tech working with the Ophthalmologist recommended I go to the Cat Doctors because they are great with cats and will listen to the owners because they know how their pet acts and how to sooth them more than someone who see them 1-2 times a year. I took her to the Cat Doctors that afternoon, the vet at the Cat Doctors found and showed me she had two teeth that were obviously giving her issues and after I was told the day before by the vet at this clinic her teeth looked good. My cat was fairly calm while being examined by the vet at the Cat Doctors until they looked in her ears and cleaned them. At least two things that were easy to spot if she was given a proper examine missed by this animal clinic. I will never bring another pet here, as the vets who work here will not listen to the owners! The owners know how to handle their pets and know what will upset them. Read Less

I am not going to even go into what happened with my 15 1/2 dog when we left him at this clinic to be kenneled. Lets just say we left him there for a week. We came home got him out of the kennel and he had to be put down 2 days later. This was his vet place since he was I believe 9 or 10 y/o yet I don't believe they even looked at his chart or attended to him at all. I thought it was awful when we dropped him off they made us sign a form and write in how much we were willing to spend should something happen to our dog while we were gone. We were in shock and were not happy but could do nothing, as we were leaving that day and had no time to put him somewhere else. They made my dog's passing and our loss so miserable I would not recommend them to anyone now. Read Less

I recently moved to Brandon from other side of town. My 10.5 year old Golden Retriever started having seizures. I was referred to Animal Clinic of Brandon.... Went in on Tuesday morning. I knew my pet was not doing well, she had been having issues for a year. Anyway, I got past Vets history sent, BUT Vet Jackson insisted on more tests... same results...negative. Dog had seizure right in the office and she gave her a shot to calm her. I also got Vallium and Phenobarb pills. $230 visit. ($30 juast for the shot to calm her) Gave dog the pills Tues night and Wednesday morning. She was laying down... at lunch time she had still not moved. Called vet, said do not give pills anymore (the tech said this, not the vet) Thursday, she still had not stood up, called again. Vet was out that day. Told to call back and they would ask another vet. Friday morning I call ed again. Vet was busy. told to leave a msg, which I did. Did not hear back. Called again in afternoon. Vet was busy. I was furious, but calm. I said, if this vet cares, then she should call me. My dog has not walked since she gave her drugs and I had two bottles of pills that was told not to give! Still no call back. Lots of other details, but I never received a call. I finally made appointment with my old vet that was over an hour drive away. Well, NOW they call me back.... why am I having the test records sent somewhere else???? I said, because Vet Jackson is the worst most uncompassionate Vet I ever met. She will not even return a call. Anyway, my dog never cam home from the visit to old vet on saturday.... she was too far gone. I miss her and feel terrible that i did not get her the medical advice that I was hoping for. Read Less

i am VERY picky when it comes to taking my dog to a vet, (trust me...I've been in and out of vets searching for the right one for years!) and i have found the Animal Clinic of Brandon to be wonderful. And it is now my one and ONLY vet. The whole staff and all the doctors are very nice and everyone treats your animal like it was their very own. I always feel like my dog is getting the best care possible and would recommend this place to everyone. They only do what is necessary too.
