Receipt showing zero balance, and their own policy states no animal will be released without a zero balance. 5 months later, an additional bill for thousands of dollars was mailed to us, with finance charges added. They will not accept that we were paid in full. Fraudulent and made up charges. Clear violations of the Fair Trade Act, and harassing calls made to my wife while hospitalized. Had a wonderful experience! Our two 70+ pound dogs got in a fight late on a Saturday, and one ended up needing stitches for a wound on his neck. We went right to the BluePearl in Brandon and they got us in a room right away and took Vinny's vitals. They kept us informed about the wait time since Vinny wasn't a critical patient and were able to accommodate us in the time they quoted! I was very surprised at how good their pricing was with it being a 24-hour Animal Emergency, and they took such great care of Vinny! Would recommend them to anyone who needs a urgent visit! I would NOT even give this place ONE STAR. Went to Blue Pearl in Brandon FL on Memorial Day because my dog hadn't eaten in THREE days, spent $613.54 and my dog is sicker than before I went! All that was continuously written in the emailed (FIVE hours later) notes was her diarrhea, I never once said she had diarrhea, I stated she had NOT defecated since the prior Thursday! They gave her sub-q fluids even though I told them she had been drinking water fine! The Vet, Dr Warshaw didn't seem to listen at all to what I said to him. Now I have this huge bill (she's mine and my husband's(90 yrs) baby) trying to get her well and they make her WORSE! NOW she is being seen by a proper vet and HOPEFULLY he will be able to get her better! DON'T GO TO THIS BLUE PEARL!!!!! Read Less

I think the staff is ok, but the Brandon Blue Pearl should not be called an emergency clinic in my opinion because they are limited in what they can do without diagnostic equipment like CT and MRI imaging.  How is that emergency care?  It's more like what we humans call urgent care for minor problems.  Apparently some of the vets are also limited in what procedures they can do there like a biopsy.  My dog was very ill, and if I had understood the limitations at Brandon, I would have gone to the Tampa location where it is a true hospital. Brought my cat in twice for emergency exams. My first experience required an extremely long wait in between exams, tests, x-rays, etc. However, Dr. O'Hara was easy to calm my nerves and explain what was going on in easy-to-understand terms. My second visit was even better, my cat was seen quickly and the wait between exams and tests was minimal. Dr. Smart was extremely helpful and able to soothe my anxieties. My dog Leia had eaten something that was stuck in her and clearly was blocking her from going #2. I called my vet after hours and she recommended that I go to an emergency vet. I checked two different vets in the area and Blue Pearl had the best reviews. Since I currently run 2 company's I have an appreciation for hearing BOTH sides to customer complaints and found that the few negative reviews were addressed by the Blue Pearl office manager directly with the review in the response section. This showed me that Blue Pearl, though not perfect because no company is, cares about addressing these issues. So I went in that evening. They took us right in, the doctor came in within 10 minutes and asked LOTS of questions which I love. The more questions asked the better chance to run correct tests and solve the problem. They took Leia back and within 30 minutes returned both her and the obstruction that was inside her.......a freaking "Happy Birthday" plastic sign that went on top of a cup cake that Leia clearly ate without our knowledge. It was about 3" by 1" and rectangular in shape. Poor dog was all dammed up. Anyway, Leia came back in the room bouncing with joy and to my total surprise I only paid the visit fee which was $99. AMAZING considering I was prepared to pay much more. What a GREAT experience and I highly recommend Blue Pearl and will be a very loud promotional voice when given the opportunity. Read Less

We brought our 14 year old dachshund in after an oral surgery. He was laboring for breath and coughing. We pretty much so knew it was pneumonia. Dr Jansen was awesome and explained what they were going to do. I liked the fact they didn't charge me for chest X-rays as he has just gotten some at our primary vet. She also sent to a radiologist to read so she wasn't chasing a diagnosis. When we left, we weren't sure if our furry best friend would make it. We were crushed but extremely impressed with not only the regular updates from the vet, but we could call any time and get an update. After two days of intense therapy, our lil buddy got to come home. Wonderful! They did an exceptional job - thankfully my dog did not have a life or death situation but we did not know that until after he was treated. The staff was thorough and prompt in their preventive care in what thankfully only turned out to be a very swollen paw from an insect sting! I was really afraid to take my cat to this vet in an emergency situation. I have a regular vet I really like, but my cat who had a urinary tract blockage earlier in the week seemed to be in distress early this morning. This requires emergency treatment in a male cat. I took my cat to BluePearl after another emergency vet informed me they were already closed for the day. They were absolutely wonderful. The vet was caring and kind. They carefully got my cat in immediately and fortunately, there was no further issue with his urinary tract. They tested and then treated him for ulcers on his cornea. I had a terrible time trying to get one of the prescriptions filled at Walgreens, but one of the Vet techs actually stepped in and actually called a Publix to make sure I could get this script. This is going above and beyond and I am very impressed with this hospital and their staff. I will continue seeing my usual vet, but it is a wonderful feeling to know that there is quality veterinary hospital so close that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week when my vet is not available. Be extremely careful of this place.  Once you drop your baby off they start the sedation drugs.   Once that starts you think that there getting worse and you agree to pay whatever it takes toget your baby better.   5k later.  I removed my dog. They tried to talk me into putting him down after I asked to take him home. They just wanted more $$ for that procedure.   We went back to our normal vet.  Everything was much better after only 12 hours.   I only realized the fact that the drugs were causing the decline because I spoke to 2 people who had the exact experience with this place. I first called to inquire about bringing a baby squirrel and they told me they only take in cats and dogs. I decided to go in person and brought in a baby squirrel that had fallen from a tree and they took it to the back and just gave me a form at no point did they ever explain what the form was or what the update with the baby squirrel was. After we signed the document they didn't tell us anything i asked if we were done or what was the next step they told me that was it. I called and they informed me they could not give me an update on the baby squirrel. Staff lacked communication and should explain the client forms thoroughly, you cannot assume an individual knows what the form stands for. Read Less

We had to have our kitten Vans put down, and the staff including the doctor could not have been more professional or compassionate throughout it all. The doctor explained the medical and financial options, and gave difficult but candid advice for our kitten. Awesome experience, front the time I called in to discuss my fur babies symptoms, I was advised it would be best to bring her in. We arrived and we're greeted by the young lady at the front desk and taken right back to a room and the immediately began checking my Princess out. She was having difficulty standing, walking and balancing. I was a little leery upon reading the bad reviews, however I'm not sure what the situations involved. Overall experience was okay, the employees that helped me did a good job of taking care of the problem and I appreciate them. However, when I walked in and said I was there to pick up my rabbit another employee that I had not seen before said "Oh that hideous thing". I didn't really know how to respond because usually people don't directly tell an owner that their pet is ugly. It was just really unprofessional and it made the rest of check out uncomfortable. Dr. Hoch & tech Mike were very helpful last night with my dog Rex who had some vomiting and diarrhea. Was especially happy they're a 24 hour pet hospital to help my Rex. He got the treatment and meds/liquid needed and is home and as happy as he usually is. As I waited in the waiting room, all the staff was greeting patients and their care givers. My 4 legged kid, Tucker, saw the opthamologist Dr. Miller for a consult regarding a growth on his eye. The office is super clean, no smells and comfortable furniture. Coffee and vending available too. Staff was very friendly and professional.It was a fairly quick visit but it wasn't an in and out.  Dr. Miller was personable, caring and engaged in conversation to get to know me and my dog. I felt her consultation was thorough. She and her tech spent time answering my questions regarding a future surgery. I've had way too much experience with various vet specialists so I was pleasantly surprised at the $169.75 bill ($123 consultation fee + $46.75 eye stain). Great service today! Read Less

These people will prove that they love and care for animals just as much as you care for yours, if not more. Everyone from the receptionist to the doctor was informative, doctoring and compassionate to our kitten and us. All questions were answered in-depth, and they will comfort your animal as long as they are in the office. The animal hospital across Lumsden has nothing on this place. They will treat your animal the exact opposite, so I'd recommend anyone that actually cares about their animal to go to BluePearl. Dr. Pearce was intelligent, soothing, thorough and reassuring. Clean.  Friendly.  Knowledgeable.  We visited with our dog around midnight on a Friday night.  We were quickly greeted, our dog was kindly assessed and treated and we were out the door in about an hour.  The price charged was fair and we left impressed with this facility.  I would absolutely bring any of my animals back should another emergency occur.  I am happy to know that we have a safe place to go if ever needed in the future. Dr. Otte and the entire staff at Blue Pearl have been amazing to my baby girl. Jackie was diagnosed with Cushings and IBD through her primary vet and we were referred to Blue Pearl. Her IBD was unresponsive to initial treatments so we tested further to find small cell lymphoma in her GI. It has been a long and painful road with tests, treatments, and multiple visits. She is responding very well now and is getting back to her normal self. They have been wonderful in working with my schedule and finances to make sure we get the best care possible. Best place to take your pet If you want them to live in an emergency situation! From the time I called the staff was courtious and caring, I had already had the ASPCA reference number and 800 number. Crystal the receptionist took all vital information ,Vet Tracy Morris took immediate action with the ASPCA recommend  treatment  and started treatment immediately, they called us with updates and went over treatments. We took our furbaby Krujo there on a Sunday night due to breathing issues. He'd been coughing for a couple of days, we thought it was just a hairball and we taking him to our regular vet that Monday. We rushed him to Blue Pearl as he was all of a sudden he was struggling to breathe. My Krujo's is such a lovey...except for when he goes to the vet. He's a big cat, 21 lbs...very strong and does not like doctors. His regular vet actually has him listed as aggressive. The doctors and staff at Blue Pearl were magical with him! He was calm and loving with everyone there. Turned out he has heart failure and asthma. We didn't think he'd be coming home again, he was so very sick. Each time we'd visit him the staff would tell us what a sweet, loving kitty he was and how much they loved him. We had to leave him there for 4 nights but it eased our minds greatly knowing he was in such good hands. This is the absolute worst place you could possibly go! My dog chewed through a pill bottle of cough medicine and was overdosing. My dogs vet told me to go to them because I am financially unable to take him to the regular vet at this time due to getting evicted and everything with my small child but my dog has overdosed and these people told me to come in and they could help me. After wasting 35 minutes of valuable time during a life threatening overdose I was told "well I don't know what to tell you" by Steve the we supervisor when I asked for advice on what to do since they refused to treat him. They won't bill me or anything they just left him to die over a $97 visit fee. I asked Steve "what am I supposed to do just let him die?!" And he said "I mean I can't tell you what to do so I guess". I will make sure that every single person in this area knows exactly what kind of place they are dealing with!Read Less

I took my cat in today with respiratory distress. As I am a CRNA, I have a feel for quality (or non-quality) medical care. This place is truly top-notch! Dr Ali Shreve was excellent in all aspects and explained to me every step of the way what the treatment options were and what things she was considering. From the time I checked in at the reception desk to the time I left, I could not have asked for better treatment anywhere. I also observed a person who came in with their dog who had died enroute to treatment. I saw such empathy and compassion that is becoming more rare these days. Overall experience was not the best. Especially when I brought my baby in for a second time in 24hrs for the same issue as the day before and the response received in the second visit was to sale injections rather than treat and diagnose the actual symptoms needed. I have never heard a vet when we have taken any of our babies in for a visit not refer them by their first name. So to add to the confirmation of this practice being more about the money and less than care, the ver referred to my baby as "the dog". We came in with a stray dog in the evening and the staff did essentially nothing to help us. We were told that they couldn't give us any information on the owner, that they sent the own a facebook message, and that we could either sit with the dog for as long as it would take for the owner to respond to a facebook message or take the unknown dog back to our home with 2 cats. While the girl who helped us could not give us any information on the owner of the dog b/c it would be a "violation of privacy" she graciously kept offering us to leave and leave our phone number so that she could give it to the owner if they ever responded. I understand that the goal of your franchise is to turn a profit and to not participate ion charity work, but you couldn't have been less helpful or more disinterested in helping a dog that we found in the middle of the highway. The girl who "helped us" (they heavyset girl with blond hair) also suggested that we could go back to where we found the dog and set him loose. Very "compassionate" staff. I don't know if this is how they treat everybody who visits the establishment or if we would have been given better care if we were paying customers, but I am not willing to give you my money to find out.
