Care Animal Hospital, founded in 1987 by Dr. Richard Kane, is Hillsborough County’s largest full service mixed animal veterinary facility. Our Brandon, FL animal hospital provides a comprehensive range of services for large and small animals of all species. From dogs and cats, to birds, reptiles, large and small exotics, pocket pets, horses, goats, pigs, zoo animals and everything in between, we will treat them all.
At Care Animal Hospital, we offer much more than vaccines for your pet. We are advocates for overall animal health. Our highly trained staff of veterinarians and technicians enjoy the challenge of difficult or unusual cases. We are the leader in assessing and diagnosing a problem, illness or disease. Once diagnosed, we make a determination as to whether your animal would be best treated on-site at our facility or referred to a specialist. We work exclusively with the specialists of Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners. This organization provides exceptional specialty and emergency care to your pets and terrific service to you.

Behind our animal hospital you will find the West Coast Regional Surgi-Care Center for Horses, a 24-hour emergency equine referral hospital and surgical center.
The complex at Care Animal Hospital and the Surgi-Care Center for Horses, our sister hospital, has a highly trained and professional staff of 10 veterinarians including board certified surgeons, one or more interns, externs, and 25 animal technicians, as well as our courteous and caring receptionists, office managers, and customer service coordinators.

Appointments, Walk-Ins, House Calls
We accept appointments and walk-ins and provide a house call service as well as a “Pet Taxi” pick-up and delivery service. Many of our clients find the house call services very convenient when they have multiple pets, farm animals, or those highly anxious special pets that refuse to enjoy the car ride to their friendly veterinarian. We are pleased to serve our patients during extended hours, including lunch hour, for your convenience.

So happy I chose to come here. I transferred here after another (undisclosed) veterinarian lost their personal touch. I feel like my fur babies are getting the best possible Treatment at Care Animal. They listen without being pushy and explain the “why”. Prices are similar to other vets in the area but the service I have received exceeds anyone I have ever taken my dogs to.

You can tell that ALL of the team members at Care Animal Hospital truly do care about each and every pet and pet parent that walk through their doors.
They are kind, friendly, and prompt during every point of contact; from calling to make an appointment and waiting in the lobby, to consulting with the vet and checking out, their team does a phenomenal job of ensuring that all of your needs are not only met, but exceeded!
Their cost is fair and they don't try to oversell you on unnecessary services, they will advise you and inform you that the decision is completely up to you rather than trying to persuade you.
Additionally, they have an online portal for your pet so that you can electronically access their records, request an appointment, and order prescriptions.
I would (and do) highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

I am very glad I stumbled upon this place, the staff are incredibly helpful and super friendly. I had to recently transfer my dog's vet because I have recently moved. Dr. Merchant and Morgan the vet tech were so friendly and made me feel right at home, like I've known them for years. Office is also very clean. I'm one of those people who consider my dog's family so the cost of my pet's health is not where I take shortcuts.

We love Care! We have been going there for almost 10 years now, since we first adopted our “firstborn” pup. I have done a lot of fostering and lots of adopting of new fur babies since then, and they have treated every single one with such a stellar level of care. I have unfortunately lost 3 fur babies over the years and they were incredibly sympathetic, caring and helpful during those tough times. The entire staff, from front desk, to techs, to the doctors are extremely friendly, sincere and caring always and are great with checking to see how pets are doing after visits. We really love Dr. Courtney, she’s amazing!! They recently remodeled the office and it’s so nice. I recommend this clinic to people every chance I get!

Our dachshund is currently undergoing non invasive stem cell therapy with Doctor Kane. This particular laser is cutting edge technology and cannot be found anywhere around. Everything about this facility is top notch. Because of the great care and excellent service we have received, we are willing to make the drive from St. Pete to make Care Animal Hospital our primary clinic for both of our dachshunds!

Prices are reasonable, and there is a feeding zoo out back with goats, pigs, etc...and a bird area as well. You can get a bag of food from the desk inside. Best vet I've ever been too, and I've had dogs and cats all my 38 years of life! Wonderful place. Also when I had to put down my cat, they were very compassionate, and explained all my options, and even gave her back to me in a "kitty-coffin" and gave their condolences. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Care’s staff is attentive and professional. They care for our pets like they were their own. The laser therapy treatment that they offer has been miraculous for our 13 year old Schnauzer. He went from being barely able to walk to running and jumping again and enjoying his daily walks. Due to the many vets on staff they can usually fit us in when we have an immediate issue. We highly recommend Care!

Having five dogs, we have been to many vets in the area. Care Animal Hospital is by far the best veterinarian office around. We love the vets and staff at this office. They are compassionate and very skilled with all of our dogs. We have Great Danes, labs, and a teacup yorkie, the staff is great with them all. I feel very confident that they can take care of any needs our dogs may have, and they have a lot. We lost a 17 year old cat that never went to the vet and they treated her with just as much care as they do our dogs that we bring there regularly. They made a horrible time in our lives a little easier. I appreciate them very much. They did surgery on one of our dogs that is on the last few months of a plan elsewhere and it cost us less than the “discounted price” at her soon to be old vet’s office. Their prices are great and their vets are very knowledgeable.

I've finally found a vet with the level of personal care, kindness and professionalism I was looking for! My first visit to CARE made we realize why that's their name ... they truly care! Filling out paperwork while trying to hold onto an excited 100 lb pup is a daunting task, so I was extremely pleased when I was immediately escorted to an exam room where I could fill out the form (only one required!) and my dog was contained but could roam free. The technician was so friendly, and put my dog more at ease than I've ever seen him at the vet... he actually sat on the scale- may not sound like much, but huge for him! The vet was wonderful, she was on the ground with him, checking everything out but also keeping him relaxed & playful. He gave everyone lots of kisses!

Here is why:I had a big scare today, I found my dogs Teddy and Bear having seizures, Bear was tumbling around and Teddy was dying...literately. I couldn't stopcrying dropped everything in my hands and ran to grab Teddy to help him somehow. (My poor dogs had been poisoned by a Bufo Toad) I reached out my phone to find an emergency vet I called a few places till someone gave me information where to take them, on my way to the first clinic I could find I thought about my friend Dr Stephanie Kane Suiter I called her clinic and the girls at the clinic were super helpful, they told me she would be in at 8:00am but to bring them right away! I rushed there, the nurses greeted me at the door ready to grab my dying dogs to stabilize them till Dr Kane came in. Long story short Dr Kane and her team saved my dogs life!! and kept my son Dereand I calm, they gave me options and explained EVERYTHING to me, half way through the day Dr Kane herself called to give me wonderful news that my dogs had made it! Teddy and Bear are doing great at home being pampered by everyone.

I was looking for a new vet and came to Care Animal Hospital from all of the wonderful reviews, and I am so glad that I did. We saw Dr. Stephanie, and she is very compassionate and took her time with our dog that has been having stomach issues. She even got on the floor with him because he was very scared. I had a couple of questions about a week after our visit, and she called me back within a few hours, which I appreciated so very much. Glad that I finally found a vet I can trust to care for my pets as much as I do.

I moved to the area a little over a year ago and had never established with a new vet because our westie terrier was over 16 years old. This week or "Coco" became sick and I called them to explain the situation. Even without an established relationship they said come right on in without an appt. I ended up going to their office twice that same day and had to make a very difficult decision to euthanize. Needless to say I was distraught and so terribly sad. There was a different doctor on duty when I came back the second time but she knew all about my Coco even though she had not seen him earlier that day. I was so impressed by the care and compassion of the entire staff and doctors. All I can say is thank you so much for being there. I would recommend Care Animal Hospital to everyone.

Dr. Courtney Brunson is so amazing at what she does!!! I was such a nervous wreck when my 5 month old mini pig Chloe was going in for her spay. Dr. Brunson assured me that everything was going to go great and that Chloe would be in great hands. I dropped her off at 8am and when I picked her up at 4pm, Chloe was the same happy piggy that I had dropped off that morning. The incision looked fabulous! The staff was so kind and answered all the many questions that I had. They treated my baby like their own. Chloe didn't seem to be in any pain after her procedure what so ever. I highly recommend Care Animal Hospital to anyone who wants over the top care for their babies. The doctors and the staff are absolutely amazing!!!!

I've been going here for 6 yrs, since my oldest got parvo. The vets and techs are all amazing. They are very gentle with each pet & know their history well. They truly do "care" for their patients.
At some vet offices, I've always been a little intimated & wondered if I was being judged. Never here. They always make sure that you have a full understanding of any procedure & encourage you to call them if you have any questions. And unlike some places, they actually take the time to speak with you on the phone if you have any follow up questions you didn't ask @ the initial visit.
So yes, highly recommended.

This is the the BEST vets office, I had to say good bye to my princess on November 1st they were there with open arms and there hearts are SO big and they care so much for you and your pets. Kristen the tech is absolutely amazing she did not leave my side and she was there when Sasha took her last breath and held her like she was hers. She even walked me to my car and gave be the biggest hug ever feeling like she is going through the pain too. I came to get Sasha's paw print on Saturday and they handed me over her paw print that was done for me by Kristen that she took her own time out and did it for me. It brought tears to my eyes. I drive from new Tampa just to see them and I will only see them. They are the most caring staff and they love all there patient's and parents. I would have not been able to do anything without them holding my hands right through everything. My Sasha girl will always be in my heart always and forever. I miss her more then anything but I know she is in a better place right now looking down at me and her brothers Bailey and Bongo (my other cats) she is not suffering anymore. So I want to thank all of you deep down in my heart and Sasha with the warmest thank you.

Care is such an AMAZING veterinarian hospital! I've used Care for over 20 years, back when I was just 9 years old. They have taken great care of 5 different animals I have had. They did surgery on one of my cats back in 2006 which saved her life and gave me 8 more years with her. Just this past week my dog, Tucker, got hurt playing on the stairs with his sister and tore a tendon in his knee. He has to have surgery. I'm upset that Care doesn't perform the surgery he needs but they recommended me to another great facility that does. Everyone from the office staff to the techs and to the doctors are so caring and great with animals. I love how they treat them as if they were their own. Naming the hospital "Care" was the best name for them bc they truly do care about our fur babies!

I want to thank all the staff, front desk, vet techs and all the employees of Care Animal Hospital for always being there for every pup we have brought you. Our rescue specializes in taking the sick pups that the shelter won't adopt out and Care has been extremely helpful in getting these pups back to health to go on to find their forever homes. Faith is the naked looking pup in their photos page and she now has a beautiful yellow lab coat and both eyes look great. She has found her forever home. Thank you all!!!!!

I liked both vets that we have seen here (Dr. Jo and Dr. Courtney). Both were knowledgeable and had good bedside manner (which matters when you yourself are pregnant and hormonal). I was even able to talk to the vets themselves on the phone which is really rare these days! The office itself is clean and they even have a little petting zoo outside! Overall, we are very happy and plan to continue to use this office for our dog!

Care Animal Hospital, founded in 1987 by Dr. Richard Kane, is Hillsborough County’s largest full service mixed animal veterinary facility. Our Brandon, FL animal hospital provides a comprehensive range of services for large and small animals of all species. From dogs and cats, to birds, reptiles, large and small exotics, pocket pets, horses, goats, pigs, zoo animals and everything in between, we will treat them all.
At Care Animal Hospital, we offer much more than vaccines for your pet. We are advocates for overall animal health. Our highly trained staff of veterinarians and technicians enjoy the challenge of difficult or unusual cases. We are the leader in assessing and diagnosing a problem, illness or disease. Once diagnosed, we make a determination as to whether your animal would be best treated on-site at our facility or referred to a specialist. We work exclusively with the specialists of Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners. This organization provides exceptional specialty and emergency care to your pets and terrific service to you.

Our 15-acre state of the art animal care complex features a beautiful hospital, separate boarding facility and surgical suite, a wildlife rehab and recovery aviary, a petting zoo for orphaned and abandoned animals, and much more…
Behind our animal hospital you will find the West Coast Regional Surgi-Care Center for Horses, a 24-hour emergency equine referral hospital and surgical center.
The complex at Care Animal Hospital and the Surgi-Care Center for Horses, our sister hospital, has a highly trained and professional staff of 10 veterinarians including board certified surgeons, one or more interns, externs, and 25 animal technicians, as well as our courteous and caring receptionists, office managers, and customer service coordinators.
Since dental care has been proven to add years to your pet’s life, we offer a complete dental suite with the latest in digital radiography and equipment.

So happy I chose to come here. I transferred here after another (undisclosed) veterinarian lost their personal touch. I feel like my fur babies are getting the best possible Treatment at Care Animal. They listen without being pushy and explain the “why”. Prices are similar to other vets in the area but the service I have received exceeds anyone I have ever taken my dogs to.

You can tell that ALL of the team members at Care Animal Hospital truly do care about each and every pet and pet parent that walk through their doors.
They are kind, friendly, and prompt during every point of contact; from calling to make an appointment and waiting in the lobby, to consulting with the vet and checking out, their team does a phenomenal job of ensuring that all of your needs are not only met, but exceeded!
Their cost is fair and they don't try to oversell you on unnecessary services, they will advise you and inform you that the decision is completely up to you rather than trying to persuade you.
Additionally, they have an online portal for your pet so that you can electronically access their records, request an appointment, and order prescriptions.
I would (and do) highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

I am very glad I stumbled upon this place, the staff are incredibly helpful and super friendly. I had to recently transfer my dog's vet because I have recently moved. Dr. Merchant and Morgan the vet tech were so friendly and made me feel right at home, like I've known them for years. Office is also very clean. I'm one of those people who consider my dog's family so the cost of my pet's health is not where I take shortcuts.

They also give you different options to choose. Also, their healthcare dog plan is very useful! I love coming here and I trust them! They also allow walk in instead of making an appointment. We love Care! We have been going there for almost 10 years now, since we first adopted our “firstborn” pup. I have done a lot of fostering and lots of adopting of new fur babies since then, and they have treated every single one with such a stellar level of care. I have unfortunately lost 3 fur babies over the years and they were incredibly sympathetic, caring and helpful during those tough times. The entire staff, from front desk, to techs, to the doctors are extremely friendly, sincere and caring always and are great with checking to see how pets are doing after visits. We really love Dr. Courtney, she’s amazing!! They recently remodeled the office and it’s so nice. I recommend this clinic to people every chance I get!

Our dachshund is currently undergoing non invasive stem cell therapy with Doctor Kane. This particular laser is cutting edge technology and cannot be found anywhere around. Everything about this facility is top notch. Because of the great care and excellent service we have received, we are willing to make the drive from St. Pete to make Care Animal Hospital our primary clinic for both of our dachshunds!

Prices are reasonable, and there is a feeding zoo out back with goats, pigs, etc...and a bird area as well. You can get a bag of food from the desk inside. Best vet I've ever been too, and I've had dogs and cats all my 38 years of life! Wonderful place. Also when I had to put down my cat, they were very compassionate, and explained all my options, and even gave her back to me in a "kitty-coffin" and gave their condolences. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Care’s staff is attentive and professional. They care for our pets like they were their own. The laser therapy treatment that they offer has been miraculous for our 13 year old Schnauzer. He went from being barely able to walk to running and jumping again and enjoying his daily walks. Due to the many vets on staff they can usually fit us in when we have an immediate issue. We highly recommend Care!

Having five dogs, we have been to many vets in the area. Care Animal Hospital is by far the best veterinarian office around. We love the vets and staff at this office. They are compassionate and very skilled with all of our dogs. We have Great Danes, labs, and a teacup yorkie, the staff is great with them all. I feel very confident that they can take care of any needs our dogs may have, and they have a lot. We lost a 17 year old cat that never went to the vet and they treated her with just as much care as they do our dogs that we bring there regularly. They made a horrible time in our lives a little easier. I appreciate them very much. They did surgery on one of our dogs that is on the last few months of a plan elsewhere and it cost us less than the “discounted price” at her soon to be old vet’s office. Their prices are great and their vets are very knowledgeable.

I've finally found a vet with the level of personal care, kindness and professionalism I was looking for! My first visit to CARE made we realize why that's their name ... they truly care! Filling out paperwork while trying to hold onto an excited 100 lb pup is a daunting task, so I was extremely pleased when I was immediately escorted to an exam room where I could fill out the form (only one required!) and my dog was contained but could roam free. The technician was so friendly, and put my dog more at ease than I've ever seen him at the vet... he actually sat on the scale- may not sound like much, but huge for him! The vet was wonderful, she was on the ground with him, checking everything out but also keeping him relaxed & playful. He gave everyone lots of kisses!

This is a wonderful place, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!! Here is why:I had a big scare today, I found my dogs Teddy and Bear having seizures, Bear was tumbling around and Teddy was dying...literately. I couldn't stopcrying dropped everything in my hands and ran to grab Teddy to help him somehow. (My poor dogs had been poisoned by a Bufo Toad) I reached out my phone to find an emergency vet I called a few places till someone gave me information where to take them, on my way to the first clinic I could find I thought about my friend Dr Stephanie Kane Suiter I called her clinic and the girls at the clinic were super helpful, they told me she would be in at 8:00am but to bring them right away! I rushed there, the nurses greeted me at the door ready to grab my dying dogs to stabilize them till Dr Kane came in. Long story short Dr Kane and her team saved my dogs life!! and kept my son Dereand I calm, they gave me options and explained EVERYTHING to me, half way through the day Dr Kane herself called to give me wonderful news that my dogs had made it! Teddy and Bear are doing great at home being pampered by everyone.

I was looking for a new vet and came to Care Animal Hospital from all of the wonderful reviews, and I am so glad that I did. We saw Dr. Stephanie, and she is very compassionate and took her time with our dog that has been having stomach issues. She even got on the floor with him because he was very scared. I had a couple of questions about a week after our visit, and she called me back within a few hours, which I appreciated so very much. Glad that I finally found a vet I can trust to care for my pets as much as I do.

I moved to the area a little over a year ago and had never established with a new vet because our westie terrier was over 16 years old. This week or "Coco" became sick and I called them to explain the situation. Even without an established relationship they said come right on in without an appt. I ended up going to their office twice that same day and had to make a very difficult decision to euthanize. Needless to say I was distraught and so terribly sad. There was a different doctor on duty when I came back the second time but she knew all about my Coco even though she had not seen him earlier that day. I was so impressed by the care and compassion of the entire staff and doctors. All I can say is thank you so much for being there. I would recommend Care Animal Hospital to everyone.

Dr. Courtney Brunson is so amazing at what she does!!! I was such a nervous wreck when my 5 month old mini pig Chloe was going in for her spay. Dr. Brunson assured me that everything was going to go great and that Chloe would be in great hands. I dropped her off at 8am and when I picked her up at 4pm, Chloe was the same happy piggy that I had dropped off that morning. The incision looked fabulous! The staff was so kind and answered all the many questions that I had. They treated my baby like their own. Chloe didn't seem to be in any pain after her procedure what so ever. I highly recommend Care Animal Hospital to anyone who wants over the top care for their babies. The doctors and the staff are absolutely amazing!!!!

I've been going here for 6 yrs, since my oldest got parvo. The vets and techs are all amazing. They are very gentle with each pet & know their history well. They truly do "care" for their patients.
At some vet offices, I've always been a little intimated & wondered if I was being judged. Never here. They always make sure that you have a full understanding of any procedure & encourage you to call them if you have any questions. And unlike some places, they actually take the time to speak with you on the phone if you have any follow up questions you didn't ask @ the initial visit.
So yes, highly recommended.

This is the the BEST vets office, I had to say good bye to my princess on November 1st they were there with open arms and there hearts are SO big and they care so much for you and your pets. Kristen the tech is absolutely amazing she did not leave my side and she was there when Sasha took her last breath and held her like she was hers. She even walked me to my car and gave be the biggest hug ever feeling like she is going through the pain too. I came to get Sasha's paw print on Saturday and they handed me over her paw print that was done for me by Kristen that she took her own time out and did it for me. It brought tears to my eyes. I drive from new Tampa just to see them and I will only see them. They are the most caring staff and they love all there patient's and parents. I would have not been able to do anything without them holding my hands right through everything. My Sasha girl will always be in my heart always and forever. I miss her more then anything but I know she is in a better place right now looking down at me and her brothers Bailey and Bongo (my other cats) she is not suffering anymore. So I want to thank all of you deep down in my heart and Sasha with the warmest thank you.

Care is such an AMAZING veterinarian hospital! I've used Care for over 20 years, back when I was just 9 years old. They have taken great care of 5 different animals I have had. They did surgery on one of my cats back in 2006 which saved her life and gave me 8 more years with her. Just this past week my dog, Tucker, got hurt playing on the stairs with his sister and tore a tendon in his knee. He has to have surgery. I'm upset that Care doesn't perform the surgery he needs but they recommended me to another great facility that does. Everyone from the office staff to the techs and to the doctors are so caring and great with animals. I love how they treat them as if they were their own. Naming the hospital "Care" was the best name for them bc they truly do care about our fur babies!

I want to thank all the staff, front desk, vet techs and all the employees of Care Animal Hospital for always being there for every pup we have brought you. Our rescue specializes in taking the sick pups that the shelter won't adopt out and Care has been extremely helpful in getting these pups back to health to go on to find their forever homes. Faith is the naked looking pup in their photos page and she now has a beautiful yellow lab coat and both eyes look great. She has found her forever home. Thank you all!!!!!

Very caring and friendly staff. We've trusted Care for almost 25 yrs. Our dogs don't try to pull away when we arrive and walk to the door from the truck, in fact they can't wait to go inside!

We started going to Care animal hospital when are vetinarian retired a couple of years ago. Its been a great transition. We have always received great service from everyone. They call the day before to remind you about the appointment and they do a follow up call a few days later to check up on the animals.

I liked both vets that we have seen here (Dr. Jo and Dr. Courtney). Both were knowledgeable and had good bedside manner (which matters when you yourself are pregnant and hormonal). I was even able to talk to the vets themselves on the phone which is really rare these days! The office itself is clean and they even have a little petting zoo outside! Overall, we are very happy and plan to continue to use this office for our dog!
