My best friend "Charlie" was the loser in an altercation with a pup with stronger jaws and teeth. She has a gash in her neck that I was worried had done more than soft tissue damage. Luckily she is ok and just required cleaning of the wound and antibiotics. She received prompt and efficient treatment. Yes, it's pricey but so are people ERs. We are lucky to have this place. Took my cat in almost a year ago with severe constipation and dehydration. Did testing and concluded that he was in kidney failure and wouldn't make 2weeks maybe a month and nothing we could do. We were devastated. We decided not to let them treat him and bring him to our regular vet on Monday. We already knew he was in the beginning stages of kidney failure, he was 17 years old.We did as our vet recommended and changed his diet and started him on miralax, non petroleum hairball treatment and cisapride and a probioticAnd he returned to normal and a year later is still jumping around just slower and he is a happy boy. Now 18yrs old we just watch his diet and keep him on his meds regularly Just like any other senior citizen. Just don't take one doctors opinion if you love your furry friend. Read Less

Terrible place. NEVER take your pet here if you love them. My 3 month old puppy was taken here for not eating and drinking and she kept throwing up. They did x-rays and said it looked abnormal and so instead of doing anything further to help her they gave her meds and sent her home. Not even a week later i took her to her vet and they rushed her to emergency surgery because they said the x-ray looked very bad and if they didn’t do anything now she would die. She ended up dying after her surgery when it could’ve been prevented if she would’ve got the help she needed the first time. Not only did they not help my puppy but they also charged me way more than what my receipt said. Will never go back to this place cause they caused my pets life to be taken at such a young age. Read every single review and they all sound similar, that this place is expensive and heartless with walk-ins. But I’ve never been a walk-in here. However, this past Saturday night my pup ran away and a mystery person took her in to here after she was hit by a car. I’m not sure if the mystery person paid anything, or what this place did/didn’t do to save her, but she was a small white and brown dog she and once we found the microchip information, we found out she was here at this location. She passed away and they froze her, we picked her up Sunday morning and buried her. No fees were paid when we picked her up, just nice words. Very sad but our experience was fine. If the ER does respond, would you please explain formalities if someone brings in a microchipped animal that was hit by a car, when it’s not their dog. I’m sure they were there with her when she passed, and I believe any human would be compassionate when they’re watching a pup pass away. Read Less

Our 13 year old shepherd was very ill and our regular vet was closed for the weekend. At first I was a concerned about taking her here after reading the negative reviews but was in a desperate state. My concern was unwarranted. Although we ended up euthanizing our dear dog, the staff was very empathetic, kind, and professional. They were very upfront about their fees, while high, were reasonable considering the overhead needed to provide after hour services. We want to thank Dr. Kerr for his kindness and assistance in helping us reach a very difficult decision. Recently we rushed our 15 yr. old Miniature Pinscher to this facility, with complications due to Congestive Heart Failure. The ER Vet explained to us that our sweet boy was drowning on his own fluids, and not much that they could do other than keep him on oxygen, and possibly prolonging his suffering. She conveyed to us that we should be as timely as we can about making one of the most heart breaking decisions we would ever have to make. In the interest of ending our beloved baby's suffering we said our " Good Bye " and decided to put him to sleep. If that wasn't enough pain to go through, the receptionist at the counter approached us for payment before they would perform the procedure. Knowing that our family member was suffering the whole time that she was collecting payment. We were disgusted beyond words. They also had us sign off on what we consider inappropriate disclaimers, while his suffering continued. After the procedure was done, the ER Vet said that they would keep our deceased pet at the facility, (from Saturday night thru Monday morning) for 75.00. Needless to say we brought our baby home with us. For everything that the ER Vet herself might have done right, some of the " COLD HEARTED STAFF " gave us a very bad experience and made a heart wrenching experience, that much worse. To be perfectly honest, we would never go back to that facility, nor would we ever recommend it to anyone who loves their pet. Do yourself and your pet a favor and stay far away from this place. It's obvious they place money over the well being of your pet. RE:(Your stupid response below) #1 Your senseless comment below about the paperwork to be signed before the procedure had ridiculous questions on it, which made it obvious where your priorities lied and the payment before the procedure to put our dog out of suffering should not trump your ridiculous practice of collecting payment ahead of time. Again showing us that the money is more important to you than the pets well being. And I suggest that you take down all of the signs saying payment due upon completion of services. #2 Charging 75.00 for your "holding fee" from Saturday night thru Monday morning was excessive to put it mildly. We have spoken with several people since then, (professional and non-professional) that have nothing but terrible things to say about your facility. You can try and justify your practices there, but everyone would be best served to go to a professional emergency facility instead. Read Less

Owner is rude and lacks empathy and compassion. Purposely caused animal pain by pressing on damaged ligament while offering up a list of unnecessary services. Associates on staff admitted the owner is greedy and charges clients more than normal. I don't have an issue with spending money and despite the fact that they can probably get the job done, I wouldn't use this facility as a matter of principle. Using the pain and suffering of one's pet to get them to fork over additional funds is a terrible business practice. I'm all about profit margins and running successful businesses, but this isn't the type of business for that. I applaud the staff for their honesty and it's likely that they genuinely care at least. Took my dog there for a steroid injection for hives. My dog was looking at me when the vet reached under his abdomen from the opposite side. My dog is friendly, but large. My dog turned his around to see who was grabbing him. No growl, no showing teeth, just startled. The vet slapped him hard on his snout !!!. Never in my 65 yrs of owning dogs, have I ever had a vet smack my dog..and for no other reason than their own fear of large dogs. If a vet is afraid of large dogs, they should stick with treating pocket pets. Will never go there again. Read Less

Horrible place, they only want the money. Last year March 10 I went with my German shepherd very sick, doctor and assistant came to my car, I told them to help me to put the dog on the table or bed I forgot what it was, doctor told me I can't you have to do it yourself , I ask what about your assistance he said she is not good with her hand, I said I can not believe somebody have to help me they told me you have to pay $700 dollars to look at him, I said okay I will pay but please help me, so he and assistant helped me , I did most of the work, took my dog and they didn't wanted to see him until I pay and sign some papers, I gave them my credit card, then they say your dog is bloating, needs surgery, we charge $2,500 or more, I ask how much chance has to live; doctor says 50-50. I really didn't have the money. My dog was dying while he was waiting for my answer, then he say no we are going to put him sleep. he put the injection when my dog already died. they are evil, evil, evil..... just money, money, money. Most of the review I read are very truth very similar to what happen to me. Of course, now the manager is going to come out with an answer. Manager save your words, you guys are evil. you don't love animals and don't have compassion for nobody. We are new to The Cape and have yet to establish a regular vet for our 3 dogs. Took my Shar Pei mix in, with a pretty serious issue, at 2AM and was scared to death!  Service was prompt, professional and treated like the emergency it was.  She was diagnosed quickly and a course of treatment was prescribed, administered and is working well.  Remember that this is an EMERGENCY facility so pricing is high as compared to regular care.  To me, well worth every penny.  Bedside manner was a little stiff but that's what you'd expect when there is a serious situation at stake.  I'm happy with our baby's response to the prescribed treatment and would not hesitate to return in the unfortunate case it would be required.  They even took the time to provide a list of regular vets in the area for us to check out. This place is NOT there to genuinely help animals and their families! They are there to TAKE ADVANTAGE and RIP families OFF! If you read the reviews, the majority have the same common thread, they were taken advantage of and charged way to much! My family had the very Same Experience!! They charged $546.15 to take an xray of my mom's very sick cat. It was determined the cat would not make it and so he was put sleep. I am not upset about the care But I am Outraged by the bill! It is obviou to me when looking at the bill, they simply took advantage of us, at a very emotional time! They just added and added to the bill! The charges were ludicrous! There is NO possible way they can justify the cost! My mom is on a fixed income! This place is a massive ripoff, most people become vets because they want to care for and save animals, not this place, they are there for the money and only the money. They wanted to charge us over $1,600 to cath our cat and basicly just make him comfortable until the morning when we take him to our vet. We ended up just paying the $87 (for the vet to spend about 4 minutes of her time) for the office visit. In the morning we took him to our vet, he's getting surgery to remove stones from his bladder and of course the cath for $800. The staff was incredibly rude for no reason (I did't even complain about the price at the moment). The medicine given was overpriced (I can say as a pharmacy technician who knows the price of antibiotics without insurance). My cat is still not feeling better and after looking at the few high ratings of this place, I am pretty sure the owner wrote them himself. Let me start by saying that this was an amazing experience. Our 7 month old kitty Peeta got a large fishing hook stuck in his paw. We tried to get it out on our own but it just was not happening. We found the Animal ER was open after hours, my husband called ahead to make them aware of the situation and we took him. When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice and polite young woman at the receptionist desk. She took us to an exam room and informed us that there was a critical patient and it may be a small wait. We completely understood, she gave us the paperwork to fill out and said they would be with us shortly. We did not wait long until a Very nice, polite and personable tech named Lisa came in with a smile.Peeta was extremely scared and she was so sweet and gentle with him. She spoke to him as if he was a real person. It made the entire situation a lot easier and calmed my nerves. When she was done, she said it would be a few more minutes before the doctor would be in due to the other case. We waited maybe 20 minutes then Lisa knocked and popped her head in to say it would be a few more minutes. When Dr. Mullins came in he was so nice, had a smile and spoke to us with our feelings in mind. He explained the different things that could be done to extract the fishing hook and as he did this he continued to pet Peeta and calm him. He said that Lisa would be back with an estimate.Lisa returned maybe 10 minutes later with an estimate and I will admit, at first it took my breath away because I was not anticipating a lot of money. When we realized we wouldnt be able to afford the first estimate I was about in tears. Lisa asked us to give her a minute to check with the doctor and see what they could do.About 5 minutes later Lisa returned and I was able to take a deep breath, which in turn let the stress induced tears flow, because they were able to work with us and reduce it as much as they could to help us out. Lisa took Peeta to the back and gave our paperwork with an itemized list of what was being done, to the receptionist so we could pay while they removed the fish hook. Before they started Dr. Mullins came out and reassured us that everything would be fine and it calmed me down even more. When they were done they brought Peeta out to us and Lisa gave us the after care instructions and our prescription for his antibiotics. She said if there were any problems to please call and come back in. The compassionate empathetic way that they spoke with us and spoke to Peeta was no more than Amazing. They turned a very stressful and emotional situation into something that would not send me to the nut house. We are So Very Thankful to the wonderful, knowledgeable, compassionate, personable polite staff.I HIGHLY recommend the Animal ER for anyone who has an emergency with their animals. We had to put our beloved Schnauzer to sleep.  He faded quickly.  We had no choice but to go here because our vet was not available after 5 and my husband wanted to be with him when we took him in.  He was more like a child than a pet and this was a very hard decision to make, but we knew it was the right one.  We briefly explained the situation and we were escorted into a room and was there for about 45 minutes before the vet came in.  I understand that this is an emergency vet, but to leave us in a room with no updates for 45 minutes is completely unacceptable.  The vet took one look at our boy and said that it was time.  The only good thing I can say about this place is they didn't make us pay for xrays to prove what we already knew.  We were told how this would work and then a tech came in and told us they would take him in the back to put a catheter in (why?).  The vet came in with a shot to put him to sleep.  I had to leave the room.  What transpired next I hope no other pet owner ever has to hear, but the worst wailing that I have ever heard from an animal and I experienced a dog getting hit by a car when I was a kid.  I hope I never have to hear that sound ever again in my life.  I just wanted to scoop him up and let the medication wear off and hug him.  How horrible!!!!   They gave him the shot in his back hips which is where is pain was.  He couldn't stand up and walk, which they knew.  I wanted his passing to be painless and peaceful, and it was definitely not.  We could not stay until the very end, we left him sleeping soundly and snoring, which is how I want to remember my boy.  I looked at the bill the next day and I see they charged us $55 for the catheter.  I called and was told that they used it after we left.  Seriously?  He was out cold.  They could have put the other drugs directly into his veins as he was so out of it.   Why a catheter?     I guess it's another way to charge a whole bunch more money.  They also bundled it with the cremation.  I'm sure that the cremation costs were inflated as well.  I spoke to my vet on an unrelated matter and asked them about this.  They told me they don't do catheters.  I think what infuriates me the most is the lack of compassion for his pain and suffering. We hold this hospital responsible for the death of our 2 year old boxer. We brought him in late one night when he was in obvious pain. After a quick exam, to the tune of a couple of hundred dollars, they told us he had pulled something, he would be fine. Before even getting home, he was in severe distress. We took him back and insisted on an x-ray. Then they come back telling us he had a blocked intestine, and needed immediate surgery. To the tune of a couple of thousand dollars. After the surgery, they repeatedly gave him a sedative referred to as ACE. The veterinary handbook of medicine says that ACE is not to be used on the boxer breed...no matter to them. He wasn't used to being crated, and was uncomfortable from the surgery, so everytime he would whine, they would sedate him...with ACE. We were in and out for the next couple of days to try to get him to eat, the vets finally told us that we were in the way. After the 3rd day, they called to say he was having seizures, that they needed to open him up again, to "look for any infection we missed the first time." The next day, he had to be put down.We were already in for over $5000, and now we had no dog. The doctors were standing behind their use of ACE, they hung up on us twice, and finally stopped taking our calls...but not until after they blamed us for the whole thing, saying that we fed our dog off the ground. If you love your pet, go somewhere else. Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life.  After our puppy had a severe dog bite we needed to have her lacerations stitched and it happened to be on a Sunday.  Closest place to our house was Animal ER of SW Florida.  My girlfriend frantically drove the dog to the Animal ER of SW Florida soon after she got there I received a phone call telling me she is looking at a $2,200 bill that they gave to her after secluding her in a room and asking if she needed to find our puppy a new home. I then realized my girlfriend was being taken advantage of.  Having owned dogs for over 41 years and seeing people stitch up their own dogs I knew what was going on before I even got there. I jumped in my car and ran right over to see if I could help out.  After looking at the list of charges some undisclosed misc. fee's I could not actually tell why they needed $2,200 dollars to stitch up some lacerations.  The whole experience was like a high pressure sales tactic and I could tell they were praying on my girlfriends emotions.  I asked them how much I actually owed them for what they had already done they answered with $87 and some talk about the price of the pain medication administered that she never said the price on.  I confronted the doctor in the lobby I told her she looked like a sensible person and I wondered why she couldn't help us out and stitch the dog up and maybe we could come up with a sensible solution.  She then explained that emergency vet treatment is expensive and she could look through the bill but the bulk of it would remain. I said we are talking about $2,000 bucks for some stitches and antibiotics. I was simply taken back by the apathetic feeling in this staff.   I was very upset and asked them to give me our dog.  I went out to park my car in the front of the building and they had my puppy ready as I walked in.  I left my girlfriend there to pay what we owed for the pain medicine administered and the exam fee as I went searching for another Emergency Vet.  She later told me they charged her $245 with no itemized receipt and all was given was a credit slip.  It was clear to us that money was first and they would not be happy with a regular profit. The whole process at an ER in Fort Myers was $750 that's with pain medication and antibiotics included.  Our dog was treated with love and care and they were very cool. Read Less

I went to this vet at 2 am for my dog who who kept bearing down to have a bm and was breathing funny. they told me his breathing was from the prednisone it was taking for a skin problem. I drove home and had to carry my dog in the house, it laid on floor an d became lethargic and unable to swallow its saliva, called the tech, told her that I was upset that my dog is now worse and that they didnt take me very serious when I was there. she told me to bring the dog back, when I got off the phone and checked on my dog he stretched out and took his las breath. my dog was dead after 45 mins of seeing this vet. maybe the rectal exam perfirated his bowel? my dog was 3 yrs old. It was aweful watching my dog die right before me at home. when my boyfriend called back tech was rude, I lost my dog and she was inconvienced by my boyfriend calling to get a understanding of what just happened.

Read Less

Read Less

Is so sad that you are the only one emergency animal clinic, right now I need a vet, but I remember how you guys treat me last year, I won't go back. Read Less

I'm surprised by some of the reviews. We had a wonderful experience. Our tabby cat Zelda began vomiting and would not stop. We were very worried so took her in. They were very kind. The male and female tech working in the front were so considerate. He even encouraged us to take something to drink or grab a cookie, in order to relax my kids. Nothing was ordered without our permission, everything was explained in detail and they offered prices for everything. There was no confusion at all. They took great care of our pet. They took their time with us. I am grateful that they are there in case of emergency. Read Less

Thanks so much! Read Less

She was broken hearted & in tears...we all were - And now, she not only has to deal with the sudden loss of her loved pet, but an astronomical bill! This so called Animal ER is there for the $$ plain & simple! They are Not there for the families of SW Fl & their loved pets! BEWARE! I will tell Everyone I Know...DO NOT GO HERE! This place should be ashamed of themselves!!! As a Side Note, Tammy, part of the staff, is Rude and lacks compassion! I will say it again.... BEWARE!!! This So called Animal ER, Only exist to take advantage of families when they are distraught and Rip them off! Shameful & very Sad..... Read Less

Not only will I never go to this place again, I will scream it at the top of my lungs to anyone willing to listen. Read Less

They charged me $2800 to "save" my cat! This was overpriced and when I called a different vet after already paying, they said that they would have only charged me $400! They seem to respond to ratings with false stories just to save their business because if people knew the truth they would have no customers. My cat is now going to another vet because this place did not realize that another surgery was needed! Please wish my cat and my wallet luck! Read Less

Thank You All again.. so very very much. Read Less

Read Less
