Our three (sometimes four with a foster :-D) pugs are long time patients of Dr. Smith's and we absolutely LOVE having her as our vet!!! Not only is she incredibly thorough, she is so wonderful with our little guys...and the staff are also very friendly and pleasant with our guys. Each one of our pugs are rescues and have multiple existing health issues...so when we moved from a different state, we were very nervous about find a new vet. Dr. Smith has actually solved or greatly improved a lot of their health issues...and we are so incredibly grateful for that! We would highly recommend her! Update a few years later: Dr. Smith and her staff have now seen well over 150 pugs that have been fostered in the southwest Florida area, some of whom had very complicated and multiple medical issues. Although the vet and staff were great I felt that I was always being sold something. They were way over priced and charged us for things that were free with our other vet. We only went there as our regular vet had retired. We will be looking for a more reasonable priced vet. Read Less

This was our first time at Baywood Vet Hospital. We previously took our pets to another local vet and felt the level of care there had deteriorated as well as the unnecessary procedures that seemed to be more about padding the charges then caring for our pet. We met with Dr. Peters for our 12 week checkup for our puppy Boeing. We were very impressed! She spent a good deal of time with us discussing our new puppy and provided us very good ideas on how to train him and integrate him into our family. She answered a myriad of our questions with interest and compassion. All of the staff were very professional. Trisha the vet tech was great with our puppy, in spite of getting a little cheese wiz in her hair as a result of Boeing furiously licking it off a stick........great distraction technique Dr. Peters has for giving shots! Overall first impressions we give Baywood high marks. We are impressed with the care our puppy received. We like the fact that there are only three vets at Baywood, at our last vet, we never saw the same vet twice. We will also be moving our cats over to Baywood as well. Read Less

I love Baywood vet. They have helped me take care of three very elderly pets. This included palliative care for my beloved toy poodle and my poor kitty that died of cancer. Doctor Smith is very humane and helped me understand when the time was right to end their suffering. Dr. Peters performed life saving dental surgery on my lethargic, 3 lb chihuahua. My previous vet totally misdiagnosed him. The dental disease was so bad it fractured his jaw! Since the surgery, Yoda is a different dog and is back to playing. Dr. Peters is the most knowledgeable, friendly and thorough vet I have ever met. She found that my poodle has low pressure in one of his eyes and that he also has dental issues. The previous vet did a check-up 3 weeks ago and said that Strudel was in perfect health! Our King Charles Cavalier, desperately needed dental extractions, but he also had heart issues. We were very scared to let him be put under anesthesia, but we knew we had too. Dr. Peters and her staff were so wonderful at explaining everything they were going to do and assuring us that he would be totally monitored for any distress on his heart. He ended up having 9 extractions and they had to do it across 2 appointments so he would not be under too long. All I can say is I wished I had done this earlier! Maybe they wouldn't have had to take so many teeth but also my 7 year old dog is acting like a puppy again. He is pain free now! Don't be afraid to let your animal to go under anesthesia even with a heart issue. This hospital really knows how to handle it. Thank you Dr. Peters and thank you Baywood Hospital! Read Less

Baywood Veterinarian is, by far, the best place to bring your pets. I have 2 dogs, 1 of which became very ill. In fact, I came very close to losing him. When we first moved here in 2014 and were new to the area, we didn't know where to take our precious Sophie, a German Jag Terrier that was getting up in years and slowing down. I polled a few neighbors and watched how they treated their own pets. Dr. Elizabeth Smith was recommended to us at Baywood. I set an appointment and went in to introduce Sophie to Dr Smith. I could not have been happier with the way I was greeted, treated or how doctor loved on my dog. SInce then, Sophie has long since left us, but her geriatric care throughout her Cushings was superb. A few years later, we rescued an adorable, but damaged 18 month old Havanese pub, Burt. Burt had/has many issues, many of which Dr. Smith accurately diagnosed quickly to begin the proper procedures to help him, not the least of which is Fearful Aggression, he was blind due to juvenile cataracts, seizures, back ailments and he has since lost an eye. But he is 10 now and ever so healthy. We also board Burt at Baywood when we travel because with his physical challenges, we travel without worry or fear that he won't be treated with the finest of loving care. We owe his health and welfare to Dr Smith and her excellent staff, from the desk to the technicians. Both Sophie and Burt trust and love Dr Smith. And I do too. Burt is our most precious family member and we would NEVER entrust his welfare to any other doctor or group of professionals. We give Baywood Veterinary Clinic and Dr Smith a collective 5 Wishbones!! I recently moved over to Cape Coral from Ft. Lauderdale. I have 3 cats so I was in need of a good vet. My sister recommended Baywood Veterinary Hospital where she had been bringing her dogs for years. So I tried them and was very happy with their services and Dr. Smith who has been treating my cats. I was having a problem with one of my cats who is 17 years old. She was losing weight and drinking excessive amounts of water. Dr. Smith ran a number of tests and found that my cat suffered from Hypertension and Hyperthyroidism. With medication and quarterly visits we have been able to get her illness under control.
