Called to change an appointment, whoever answered told me 9:30AM, never received a confirmation like I have previously before. Appointment was for 9 and they would fit me in for an extra $20. This place is GREAT!! :) My American Bulldog Lola does not play well with others so I have a Vet that makes house calls for normal check ups/med refills/etc. Lola got sick & my Vet said she was going to require surgery immediately to keep her alive & referred me here! She called the office & even though they were booked, due to the emergency status they got Lola in immediately! I brought her in & she was being prepped for surgery within 30mins. The surgery was done swiftly &... Lola was ready to come home by dinner with antibiotics & pain meds in hand! I am positive that her life was saved here & I am so thankful for everyone in the office! The staff as a whole was so friendly & helpful & seemed to really care about my baby girl! They were also very understanding & accommodating to the fact that Lola doesn't fare well around other animals & "snuck" us in through the back door! I really like the staff, doctors, and hours. The price is always better too, without sacrificing good care. I have many different animals but a good example is when my cat was having issues and I was told by a animal ER that she would need lots of treatment and testing. Done with this vet clinic!  I brought my dog in on an emergency basis and was made aware of the up charge which was not a problem. I was told it would be a while or to come back at 5pm (it was noon) so I sat waiting.  My dog had a choking episode right in front of their other customers and that's when they decided to move me to a room.  The vet that came in decided he would need to run "several" tests to confirm how to treat which I was then presented with a cost sheet that tallied up to the tune of $800!  My dog is 12 years old and I refused to be bamboozled. The vet reluctantly prescribed diuretics?  I took him home and the chocking continued with the inability for my dog to eat or drink. The next day I went back agreeing to X-rays ($200) just to rule out that something may be lodged in his throat. X-rays showed nothing (thank goodness) and he actually seemed to be in great health for a 12 year old dog. Of course they thought they saw something on his liver and strongly recommended blood work (can you say up charge?). I declined and went home with antibiotics after being told he had a "cold"!  Note: while seated in the waiting area, I overheard a tech making calls checking on animals that were vaccinated. Not once did i get a follow up call asking how my dog was doing!!  They don't care about my pet...they care about the almighty dollar!!  I also didn't appreciate the vibe I received after not agreeing to all their recommended procedures!  They made me feel as if I was a horrible pet owner!  Well....I'm through with this vet clinic and will be taking my business to a veterinarian that cares about animals and not just lining their pockets!  Disgusted!!! We've been bringing our animals here for years.even before they moved to this new location . When we had to bring our older dog in to be euthanized , it was A horror!!!!!!!! They warned us that when They gave her the injection it may be a little irritating to her... she reacted as if she were being attacked by a nest of hornets , crying ,screaming , trying to attack the injection point. This lasted an unbearable amount of time and my wife and I left devastated and shocked. Throughout our lives we have rescued dogs from shelters and they were usually older and when they couldn't possibly continue to live without great suffering occasionally we would have to bring them into to be euthanized at our other vet. always a very calm and loving last moment . We mentioned this event to him and he said that they opted for a shorter, less expensive (to them) procedure of just one injection. I absolutely love this clinic. I was very iffy at first because of the bad reviews and not so high star rating they have but honestly I called many different clinics for estimates on spaying my female and this clinic was not only the cheapest but the most welcoming. I put my baby Artemis (2 year old pit) in their hands and I wouldn't take back any of it. I was a VERY nervous mom, I probably called a million times before her scheduled surgery, during to check on her, and after for question. They made this very scary experience very easy. It upsets me to see the bad reviews because they're all for stupid reasons and not for their actual practice. They gave me an estimate before and said it wasn't 100% and they called to make sure it was OKAY before testing my baby for heart worm. Which I very much appreciate them not just going ahead without confirming the extra expense. Artemis just got fixed yesterday and she's already up and about and very lovey and doesn't seem in any pain and I haven't even had to give her both pain killers they gave me. I've have used this office in the past but I will never use them again. I have taken my dashund here on three different visits. The first time was for his regular shots and I was also concerned about some hair loss. At that time they did nothing for his hair loss and acted as if it was no big concern. I took him back again in April for an appointment for just the hair loss and missing patches on his body and this vet acted again as it was no concern. I took him back again for his shots and again for his hair loss, this time a different vet ran a thyroid test to see if that could be the reason for the hair loss. She called me a few days later to tell me it came back normal. My next step would be to bring him in and have him out under so they could take a skin sample and send it off to be tested for a skin disease. She said to let them know but since it did seem to be bothering him not to worry about it. Well a week later it was still bothering me so I found a different vet who specializes in skin care and took him there. They ran a skin scraping and determined that he had a bacteria infection and a staff infection throughout his who body. Now he's on a list of meds and shampoos and creams. Im not sure how three different vets could miss this. I will be calling the office tomorrow and reporting them to the regulatory business professionals. I am not happy and do not feel as though my pet was given the treatment he deserved.Read Less

I have been taking all of my dogs here since we moved to Florida, so that's been going on four years. They never miss a single appointment, all up to date on shots all on correct preventatives. They have dentals done regularly. Their prices keep increasing but they seemed pretty caring and were a close vet for us. My dog was having serious breathing problems last week and foaming at the mouth and coughing and even though I knew it would be a 25 dollar "emergency work in fee", I didn't care because her health is more important. Mind you, we NEVER leave that vets office without spending less than $300. Ever.So we get there at a quarter till 9 in the morning so they could "work her in" ...we were in a room in about 10 min and waited until 10:50 and still had not been seen, nor checked on... When called in originally they thought I had wanted a regular appointment and said they had an opening at 10. Here we are fifty minutes PAST that regular appointment time for an EMERGENCY. So we walked out. They called and said they saw us leave and said they wish they had an answer for the wait time, but didn't. I asked for all our records and am really irritated because they lied about our check out time saying that we were there less than an hour. I have phone records to prove otherwise. I am taking my FIVE dogs elsewhere where they will get care and the same vet, so I don't have to repeat my dogs life history with each new veterinarian that sees them. Also we were treated in an incredibly timely manner at the other office.I am really mad. I can't believe the lack of service and wait times you have. The wait time has always been extraordinarily long but I was fine when my pet wasn't an emergent situation. I understand some other pets require immediate attention. But to sit for near 2 hours in a room with NOTHING even so much as a check in is ridiculous. I will be sure to advise my other friends who are pet owners that go to you know of the situation and the new pet owners for recommendations to see our new -individualized and less costly veterinarian who is a five star review on every website. My fur baby was a patient of Dr Sandy's for 7.5 years , always LOVED the friendliness and professionalism of her staff . I moved to Florida a year ago . Dr Sandy still takes my calls and answers questions. AND she still remembers ,that newton's legs are curved differently. I paid 38.00 for a vet examination down here, they didn't look in his ears, mouth,take his temp, pulse or respiration. Dr Sandy is 11.00 more and she checks them all. 0 stars.  Received a dental quote of $402 and walked out the door paying  $720.  My daughter, who was previously employed as a vet tech, said the norm is that they call to approve the procedure when it exceeds the estimate by so much. Had a similar situation happen at this clinic 3 years ago on a dental for the same pup which was resolved by them giving me flea protection for my dog to make up the difference.  Shame on me for my optimism that things change.  Shame on them for continuing their deceptive sales practices.  If you walk in on a fixed budget, beware. We brought our cat to Animal Health Care Clinic to get spayed, The surgery was a success and they even lent us a carrier to get her home. They get five stars for that, we had no problem at that time. However, a couple weeks after her surgery, we noticed she was having ear trouble. We brought her back to Animal Health Care Clinic to be checked out and spent 70 minutes in an exam room waiting. That was unacceptable so we left. No one ever called or sent a note to acknowledge our departure or to ask us back for another appointment. Time is money, I can't justify losing over an hour away from my business, I don't keep my clients waiting. We brought the cat to another vet to get her ears checked and they determined that she has ear mites. Cats get ear mites from other animals who have ear mites. She is an inside cat without exposure to other animals except for her time at the Animal Health Care Clinic. We have spent a lot of money so far to treat this issue in addition to the time spent at their office and the new vet's office. I hate to leave a bad review but I'm upset that she picked up the ear mites there and I'm upset that we were stuck in a room and forgotten. Read Less

I brought my dachshund in for regular check ups and the doctors here keep on pushing me to get my dog neutered. I finally agreed and after the procedure my dog is so mean and aggressive. He doesn't want to play and is not energetic as he use to be. I called the office to tell them and they tried to tell me that the owner is why the dog has behavior changes. I'm pretty sure one of their vets is an introvert and may want to consider an assistant when communicating with people. Also, instead of saying "come back when you can" to get a urinalysis that's suppose to be included in blood work, they should say, "come back right away or else we'll charge you again." I've taken my cat twice and have spent $300! Still, no diagnosis and no treatment! Twice and they can't get either a urine or fecal sample!? I wish I would of never wasted my time here! Dr. Supow is the best surgeon! She is compassionate and loving and my animals love her. I read with dismay a couple of reviews regarding other vets who work within Clearwater animal clinic. It seemed for a short time, there were a couple vets who derailed from Supow's philosophy regarding the treatment of pet and owner. I still do not like the wait, not sure if that is the result of front end management, but Clearwater animal clinic is a top choice because Dr. Supow is point on in diagnosing and treating complicated health issues. I love this place! My cat Onyx was in critical condition and the staff there was beyond awesome at explaining the reasoning for his condition and helping us understand his condition. The minute we walked in the door they immediately came to greet us and began assessing the situation. We had come from a horrid experience at the ER Hospital where they told us our only option was to have him euthanized so the helpful and smiling faces were great to us! I just got my puppy in July and started taking him here for his shots getting fixed, everything. They are truly amazing and I couldn't see myself taking Max anywhere else. I love knowing when I walk in they remember me and know Max right off the back. :) it shows they truly care! Max recently fell off the couch and fractured his growth plate and they took such amazing care of him! “Looking for a Vet who cares?”Yes. We were.We didn’t find one at the Animal Heath Care Clinic on Drew Street in Clearwater Florida. If you are looking for a vet to fumble around with expensive tests and ineffective treatments, Animal Heath Care Clinic is your place.Beau, our 11 year old golden retriever, suffered from atopic determititis and skin infections resulting from it. We exhausted Dr. Moretti and Dr. Denesi capability to help Beau despite having spent ~$850 over 5 months. We did everything they've asked to include antihistamines, steroids, topical sprays, blood panels, benedryl, switching to multiple higher-quality no grain food dog food, fungal skin tests, yeast tests, frequent bathing with high end dog shampoos, trying to control house allergen sources, supplements of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, etc. None of the above provided relief.When we independently researched the web and learned Atopica and Apoquel as popular potential solutions to Beau’s allergies. We contacted Animal Heath Care Clinic and scheduled a follow-up with a specific request for the drug to be prescribed. Nicole confirmed that they had Apoquel in stock. Dr. Denesi seemed befuddled and confused with his persistent skin condition, refused to prescribe Apoquel, and prescribed another battery of expensive antibiotics ($85) , a skin biopsy, ($250( and would have prescribed more steroids (less it conflicted with the Vetprofin they had prescribed for him) to treat a skin infection, despite our protests that their previous regimen of antibiotics was ineffective. I later learned that the “bait and switch” treatment was because they did not have Apoquel in stock.I asked for the Dr. Moretti or Dr. Denesi Animal Heath Care Clinic to call me back 2-3 times – a vet never returned my call.We elected to switch to All Care Care Pet Hospital on Sunset Point Road. Dr Rixford and her staff were confident, educated, compassionate and loving. Our experience with them was amazing and significantly different. Apoquel provided him immediate relief. The difference in his skin and energy drastically improved within 24 hrs.Over months, Animal Heath Care Clinic never mentioned Apoquel as an option, because they did not have it in stock, and not because it was not what was potentially best for Beau. They seemed more motivated to prescribe expensive options.In summary, Animal Heath Care Clinic operates more like an ineffective business motivated by profiting from expensive treatments and tests than a place that demonstrates caring and capability to help your pet. I brought my cat here and he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection and an ear infection and was prescribed an antibiotic and ear drops. The antibiotic was nearly impossible to administer since it involved squirting down his throat and the ear drops (which the label says are for dogs only) only made him worse. All of this cost me $200. I brought him back 2 days later since it wasn't working and then they give him a shot of antibiotics and tell me to stop giving him the meds originally prescribed. Then when I was leaving they reminded me that I now owed another $140. Obviously I was not happy about this and actually pretty confused. Why the fuck would these incompetent assholes think it's a good idea to give me original meds at home to a cat (a sick cat at this point) who I made clear to them wasn't a fan of taking meds and scratched, struggled and fought with all his strength to avoid taking them (which he did even though he was sick and weak) when they could of just given him the shot the first time and save me from spending nearly $350? I'll tell you why they did it...because they don't give a shit about your pets and only care about your money. This place is running quite the racket...gotta give them credit for that, I guess. The worst part is that they didn't even think they were in the wrong at all for charging me all of this money and not informing of other treatment options on my initial visit. Avoid this place at all costs. It may seem like a more inexpensive option on the surface but I can assure you you'll end up paying just a much as you would at any other place....and the other places will actually inform you of all treatments options on your first visit. This is the worst clinic ever..... yes they used to be good, but what happened?The worst thing about this clinic is that they make you feel like you have not taken good care of your dog and did something wrong. Even though I had taken great care of my 16 year old dog- more then 1 operation-- they really made me feel horrid.When they did a dry eye test on him they refused to let me hold my dog, yet they manhandled him so bad and scared him so badly that he pooped all over the exam table. One of the issues I was concerned about with my dog- A cough. was not addressed at all, and after the end of the exam I actually had to ask the vet to come back in and check him-- she haphazardly diagnosed him with kennel cough even though he had been around zero dogs (my new vet found it to be a collapsed trachea).I am soooooo glad that I stopped going to this sub par horrid vet- not exaggerating) and found a very vet for my little doggie- who now feels so much better!LOl,  they also thought my dog was a female - 3 times that I brought him in.- every time-- lol, they can't even be personal enough to now the sex of the dog-- tsk tskMy new vet is like night and day compared to this horrid place! This place is truly awesome!  I take all three of my cats there and am treated so kindly and  courteously .  They bend over backwards to help you and your animals there .  The front desk is very accommodating and patient and the techs and doctors are very efficient and knowledgable .  I am so glad I found this place ... I really feel like my cats get treated like they were the doctors own pets..they spend as much time as needed and even call to follow up with your animals to make sure they were doing ok after their appointment .  I am very impressed with this clinic and would highly recommend it. Amazing! Called at 5:30 on a weeknight, my current vet was closed and my cat needed to be seen a.s.a.p. These guys said they would fit us in even though they had other emergencies and regular appointments to handle. Got their quickly (they were right down the road from us!) and the place was awesome. Gorgeous, well decorated, clean, friendly and competent staff. To top it all off, their prices are amazing. We were an emergency appointment, and with the exam, SQ fluids and three different meds we walked out of there for around $125. I was expecting at least $200. They easily just earned another 5 pet customer. My only gripe would be that they over-use the Glade plug-ins, it was overwhelming to the point that our eyes stung and my boyfriend got a headache. I wish I had known about this site YEARS ago as I've been taking my dogs to Animal Health Care Clinic for 12 years now (that says it all)! I had Shelby, Niko  for over 10 years.  Niko had Arthritis and then went blind, had issues with his thyroid and basically had no quality of life.   I cancelled 3 appointments before I finally decided he was too tired and needed to be put to sleep.  The staff at AHCC were WONDERFUL...from the receptionist, to the Technicians, to the Vet.  They all showed compassion and understood the decision needed to be made on my schedule and when I was emotionally ready!  After I made the decision on 9/24/10 (a Friday), I received the most compassionate card and letter from them.  I will FOREVER be touched by that kind gesture and have had nothing but great experiences with all of them.   And did I mention that they run a for profit business but with affordable prices that reflect their concern for their clients!
