Bless the lovely people at this office. They have been so supportive, loving and accommodating with our baby dog from beginning to end. During her final moments when Dr. Freeman helped her pass over, he was so soothing and loving, which I will never forget and will be eternally thankful for. All the time we had questions regarding Misty's kidney disease or when there were issues, Dr. Freeman and the loving staff did everything to help us. Dr Freeman and his staff are the best.  They have helped me save two rescue dogs( one very sick and one very aggressive) .  They spend the time needed to really help the pet and the owner.  With out Dr Freeman , my little Bear would have been put down -- he was so fear aggressive. Overall I am completely dissatisfied with this vet after the many recommendations from friends and family as well as the reviews of 5 stars I read. We found a stray dog which we took to Pinellas County Animal Control in hopes of finding her owner, after the 30 day hold period we took her down to this Vet after deciding to keep her. We were notified that we had 14 days to get the rabies vaccine for the dog by the Animal Control Officer. We did so and received the certificate from the Vet, they told us that they would inform the county that everything had been satisfied. Fast forward to after the 14 day grace period we received a fine and court date posted at our house. We visited Sunset Point Animal Hospital to confirm they sent the paperwork as they stated they would. We called Animal Control to confirm the number that they can fax to. The office staff stated they would fax it that day and call us when it was complete, they did so. We call Animal Control the next day to confirm they received everything and that the fine and court date would be satisfied. They informed us that they had NOT received the information and that we were still in violation. I drove back to the Vet and they told me they had sent it but would do so again. I waited this time while they faxed it, the office staff returned and stated they had. I promptly called Animal Control to confirm, they had NOT received again. I asked if I could drop off the paperwork, they agreed. After driving another 45 minutes I arrive at Animal Control and remedied the situation that Sunset Point Animal Hospital could not on 3 occasions. I was willing to accept technical difficulty with the fax machine but upon looking at the back of the paper that the vet supposedly faxed, they had written down the wrong number that I gave them initially as well as on my second visit. This mistake has cost several hours of my time and gas. Sadly we will never bring our pets here again despite my wife and I liking the care we received from the doctor on our initial visit, solely on the incompetence of the office staff. Dr Conrad is no longer here and his concern for the greyhounds left with him. After a botched surgery by "Dr" Villabona, a lack of post op meds and followup care, we had to go to an emergency animal hospital to get quality care when we needed it. Eventually, because Sunset Point wouldn't see us in a timely manner for another emergency (related to post op care), we had to find another vet all together. Dr Freeman never bothered to call us back himself, even after I left another message for him at the front desk in person. We had to have the surgery redone, but found competent vet care elsewhere as a result. When we picked up my dog's file, it was incomplete and inaccurate. This is NOT the same place it was when Dr Conrad was here. Thankfully, one of the board members at my rescue recommended his vet to us, who we have complete confidence in. It turns out that none of the board members I know actually use this vet for their own dogs. I assume they use it for their fosters for financial considerations. I just wish they would update their site so people aren't under the false impression that Dr Conrad is still here. Now there was a vet that knew greyhounds. I started going here because my rescue dealt with the former owner. I have since left because of a change in attitude under new ownership and the fact that Dr Conrad became less and less available as he transitioned himself out of the practice after selling to Dr Freeman. Dr Freeman was always very personable, but always seemed to lack that confidence that Dr Conrad had. They also seem to me to extend diagnoses to multiple visits without coming to any real decisions. Dr Conrad was always confident with one visit, one answer and one bill. I believe he sincerely cared about the animals, and had expertise and concern for greyhounds that was not replaced when he finally leftJust because your rescue uses a vet isn't always an endorsement, it is more often an issue of economics for them. Find someone you are completely comfortable with, and don't be hoodwinked by how many xx the hospital has treated over the years -they may be counting work by vets no longer there. Make sure that the vet that your dog is seeing has enough experience that makes you feel completely comfortable. And always check your receipts. I don't have any horror stories about these new vets, but things have changed enough to have moved elsewhere. I would not personally recommend them. Read Less

Taking your furry child to the vet is never a fun experience, but every single member of the staff at Sunset Point Animal Hospital is caring, considerate, understanding, PATIENT (I know I'm a little crazy) and take the time to answer my many questions. Needed an appointment for my dog on a Saturday morning and they were immediately accommodating.  My dog had recently been to another local vet for GI tract issues. This other group had given me partial information and a treatment, but two weeks later I started to see the same symptoms. I returned to the original local vet (not Sunset) and they DIDN'T provide me with a lot of help or reassure me of what to do to stop the problems and symptoms. They were nice, but that was not enough for me.  I had spent a lot of money with the previous group, but very little reassurance of help was provided regarding the health of my dog.  I decided to look for alternative animal hospitals in the area.  After I checked online for the rankings of the top schools in the country, and the background of all the local DVM's listed in Yelp and Google+. I looked for a local DVM who went to one of these highly-rated schools of veterinary medicine. Dr Chris Freeman seem to fit the bill on paper, AND there were decent reviews already on Yelp!It turns out those reviews were accurate!  Upon arriving, the location was easy for me to get to, the parking was available without a problem, and upon entering the lobby, it smelled clean, looked clean and the products were not obnoxiously creeping up on the waiting areas.  It felt like the right place, with special care taken in both the upkeep and the overall maintenance.  (This was not the case with the prior vet.)Dr Freeman hires very friendly, competent and considerate employees. They are helpful and listen. Dr Freeman is very friendly and truly understands his field. He provided me with more helpful information in 15 minutes than all the previous vets I have been to in the past four years of our Shi-Poo.  I am very thankful I don't need to head up to Tampa or down to another area in order to get this kind of quality care for my dog. We've been going to Dr. Conrad and team for 9 years for our 4 dogs and 2 cats. He's  has such an amazing bedside manner with animals of every temperament, and treats our animals as they are his own. He walks into the exam room and immediately flops on the floor to meet the animal and alleviate their stress. Dr. Conrad and Dr. Freeman treat the entire animal, and always offer a variety of treatment options considering the family situation. They have even helped us through behavior issues when introducing a new animal. They also offer cat boarding which provides such a peace of mind. Their entire staff has been with them for years so we know their vet techs as well as we know the docs. I'd go there for my doc visits if they'd let me! Read Less

Dr. Conrad & his associates are fantastic! They have a true love for their patients, & it shows! Every time we bring in our dogs, they are treated like family...with belly rubs & pats on the head. The only 'negative' is that you do not receive an itemized bill until after you have paid for your visit, but I would still recommend them to anyone who wants their pets treated with care! Read Less
