Our seven year old American Pit Bull Terrier, Duke, tore both knee ligaments out and had to have titanium knees installed at the same time on both hind legs. He was so determined to keep living even though he could not stand up. He was actually walking on his front legs with his rear end raised in the air, so we were going to do anything it took to give him a chance. Amazingly, the surgery was very successful and our Duke had seven more wonderful and active years with us. We cannot say enough about Dr. Malnadi and his staff at Sunset Veterinary. Dr. Malnati is wonderful! He did ACL surgery on our 11 1/2 year old 11 pound Yorkie when she injured it jumping off of our couch. He was great from the time we walked in the door at our first consultation, to surgery day when he even took her home with him overnight for observation. At home my dog jumped off the love seat at yelped this was the first part of March. I immediately took her to my vet. Dr. Mitchel Bendit that morning. They did x-rays they wanted me to go to specialist. But,Dr Bendit believes it's her knee. So I got a appointment immediately with Dr. George Malnati. I brought my dog a Bischon frise (Princess). They looked over the x-rays it was a tear in her acl knee. So Monday we had the surgery 3/7/16. I was a nervous wreck. The Doctor called a few hours later. She did great. So I took her home that afternoon with her leg bandaged up. After a few follow up appointments over the next two months. She is doing great! I had my last appointment this morning 5/9/16. Been a little over two months she is doing fine. The staff, and the Doctor is compassionate,good listener,knowledgeable,and caring. Princess was a handful I know. Probably because she was so nervous. I highly recommend Sunset Veterinary Surgery. Nikki is our 9 yr old shih tzu who tore both her cruciate ligaments (ACL). We didn't know how she was going to survive with two torn ligaments, Dr. Malnati explained to us this was treatable with surgery. I have a Springer Spaniel/ Dachshund mix who's 5 months old. He recently fell off of the couch and fractured his growth plate in his hind leg. We took him to our regular vet and told us we need to see a specialist about this. So I did my research and found the best reviews about Dr. Malnati. So I set up an appointment for him, when I got the news that he would need surgery and to find out it was going to be $2000, I started crying. What was I going to do, but my dog is my baby and I needed him back to his normal self. Luckily I got approved for care credit and we were able to do the surgery. I kid you not, Max was walking the next day! Sure he had some pain, but after 2 days you wouldn't even had known he had surgery! One night, we came home and our 10 year old Boston terrier, Yogi, could not put his back leg down. We took him to our general veterinarian who took x-rays and diagnosed him with a torn ACL (CCL). They estimated an extremely expensive procedure with an extremely long recovery time. We were devastated! As we researched our options, we found the answer to our prayers: Dr. Malnati. Several people recommended Dr. Malnatis practice, and we are incredibly grateful to have the privilege to work with he and his staff. They are truly incredible. They provide exceptional care at a reasonable price. From the moment we stepped into the office, they treated Yogi, our two year-old son, and us with kindness and compassion. Dr. Malnati explained everything clearly and carefully. He answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable with Yogis surgical procedure and recovery. Everyone at the office genuinely cares about the animals they heal. Yogi felt at home, and he even looked forward to his follow up appointments. Surgery for pets can be both emotionally and financially draining. However, our experience with Dr. Malnati took away this strain. Dr. Malnati made this an exceptional experience. We liked them so much, we used them twice! Our 10-year old shepherd mix had surgery on her left knee in May 2013. 4 months later, she had surgery on her right knee. If I could change one thing in the past year, I would have taken my now-deceased puppy to him first before I went to some generic surgery center who collectively didn't care much in the face of poor outcome when she broke a bone. Then I took her to Sunset vet and he fixed what needed fixing and did the best amputation job I could hope for and gave us serveral more months together. We were looking for the very best veterinary surgeon in town when we found out our 7 month old black lab was found to have hib dysplasia, so badly in fact that they said he had to have surgery or he would have to be put to sleep. Well that was when we found George A. Malnati D.V.M., M.S. and we had him perform a TPO, were he surgically removed the femoral head and neck on our dogs right hip. He was so good to our dog. He stayed at his vets office ""all night "" after surgery with our dog. He called us at home to tell us how our dog was doing that night. We pick our dog up the next day and he helped us carry our dog to the car and he also called the next day to see how our dog was doing. He told us we could call him day or night if we had any problems. Now our dog is 2 1/2 years old and has no problem with his hip. Dr. Malnati saved our dog and was the most understanding surgical Vet I could ever expect!
