UNPROFESSIONAL. INCOMPASSIONATE. DISGRACEFUL. POOR EXAMPLE OF A VETERINARY SERVICE!!! I took our 12 year old chihuahua that we rescued 1 year ago and she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, we decided to keep her comfortable instead of proceeding with a $2k invasive procedure. Less than 4 months later we were back to euthanize our little girl because the cancer had taken over. Dr. Bendit is the most unproffesional and rudest veterinarian I have met in my entire life. When putting our beloved little girl down he began pulling on her scruff saying "oh WOW look how dehydrated she is...that tumor is just taken her over...." and basically telling us everything we already know and that is why we were there and not letting her suffer any longer. Then he tells me he's going to put a high dose narcotic into her and then told me to "MOVE!!!" while I was petting her and telling her that I love her one last time before she would become altered, then she SCREAMED and YELPED loud due to the pain of the needle and narcotic because this whole entire procedure was done with no compassion and incorrectly. I use to be a vet tech and helped euthanize 150+ animals and none have ever been in discomfort like that EVER! Then my little girls tongue fell out of her mouth and he goes up to her mouth and he sticks his finger into her mouth pushing her tongue back into her mouth and goes "OH YEAH SHES REALLY STONED!"......ARE YOU FREAKING OUT OF YOUR MIND DR BENDIT, YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON AND HAVE NO HEART FOR ANIMALS ,GO FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSION THAT DOESNT INVOLVE ANIMALS OR PEOPLE,...OH WAIT YOU CANT BECAUSE YOU ARE OLD AND DECREPIT! This entire experience has ruined the normal grieving process due to ignorance, who ever reads this take this as a written and documented warning to stay away from this facility if you really love your pet(s). I didn't know what to think of this place solely based on the outside. It doesn't look awful it is just an old square building on the corner of a very busy intersection. I tried another place last year and was not very pleased with their attitude toward my diabetic 16 year old cat. I really did not want to go back so I searched for a new place. Sure, I could have taken my guy to a costly Vet anywhere in the area. So many have wonderful new buildings and state of the art this and that.... Let me be blunt. My guy is pushing 17 and has been diabetic since 2012. I have spent over $8,000 on insulin alone since he was diagnosed. This isn't about me being cheap. This is about making choices on what my cat really does need. After weeks a research I opted for this place. I was nervous, not going to lie. I am tired of fighting for my cat's rights with various Vets. Always told you need quarterly blood draws and exams every three months. Well, no, he really doesn't need that. What he needs is his yearly exam to see how his body and joints are doing. He needs his rabies update and Pinellas registration/tag. I already know his teeth are pretty bad but this is because no Vet will put him under anesthesia to clean them due to his age. I understand you want to get a reading on his blood/sugar/fructose blah blah blah. This was the option I went with because it allows me to get a prescription for his insulin and I don't have to return for a year. I can opt to return in 6 months for another exam if needed. They took his temp (poor guy) and then drew his blood (poor guy) but both the Vet Tech and Vet were really nice. They did listen. They understood I wanted a 1 year rabies shot instead of a 3 year rabies shot because I do not want to overwhelm his body. Again, he is old and already gets shots twice per day. He can only handle so many medicines at one time.I was pleased with the service I received here. The vaccine clinic is a walk in type deal. So if you don't need an exam (for more insulin type thing) you can just walk in with your pet on the 2 days they offer the clinic. That is pretty convenient as you can work it into your work day or if you don't work even better. Will definitely return. The staff was great and the place was clean. Read Less

Dr Mitchel Bendit really cares about our dogs. He's very knowledgeable. We trust him with our big & our little dogs (4 & 8 lbs). We started going to him after we left Banfield in Petsmart. We left Banfield because our Border Collie died & Banfield revived her twice while just having her teeth cleaned. She was only 4 yrs and in perfect health. I picked Roxy up and an associate stopped me while I was walking around the store. She told me about them losing Roxy (as she put it died twice). I couldn't believe they didn't tell me when I picked her up (the associate wanted me to know for future cleanings) Shouldn't I be aware? I couldn't believe them not telling me. But I was so glad she told me. Apparently they put Roxy under too far and thats why Banfield lost her twice. Thank God they got her back. After that we found Dr. Mitchel Bendit and we are EXTREMELY happy with him. He is so good! He has that small town doctor feel. Really caring. Really listens. He goes over "all" the options. Out dated and dirty. The service was in and out of polite and rude. Every time I asked a question I got an answer of “I don’t know” a lot, until I finally got to the answer “I’m not the doctor”. Who apperantly was the other guy who came in for a brief second with no introduction hello or welcoming. My dog did get all of his updated vaccines but I will not be back. I had a lot of questions to ask with little to no opportunity to ask, and the ones I did get a chance were all unanswered. Please take the time to make your customers feel welcome and ask the necessary questions. I spent over $100 and got about 1 minute with the docter. I was looking for a place to make my regular veterinarian but this is not the place. My over all review is rude, impatient, and unprofessional. Read Less

My cat was having an unexpected health issue. I don't have a regular vet for this cat yet. I called on a busy Saturday morning and they were able to take me right away...even though I was not a customer. The desk staff was very friendly. The vet and vet tech are clearly experts. The vet was kind enough to actually listen to me and comprehended my concerns of budget. He gave me complete diagnosis and treatment disclosure and we went over the treatment plan to fit my budget. I inquired about an additional service and instead of taking my money...he recommended I wait to do the next service until after the treatment was completed. What a true professional. I have six more cats that I will be bringing in as my budget permits. I walked in needing an honest, understanding vet and walked out a new customer with 7 new patients for them....Thank you so much! If you are looking for a Vet that is always timely, listens to you, and is inexpensive I advise you to look no further. Unfortunately, I have had to bring my kitten in twice within the last few months (once because she was ill, the second because she injured her leg) and both times I have left a very happy camper. By far the best vet and office we've ever had for our boys (cats, both mine and my mom's) doc Mitch, his wife Lisa and the rest of the staff are the most compassionate, caring people ever! And honest too!! Which is why we continue to make the drive down now that we no longer live in Pinellas County. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my fur babies!! Dr Bendit and his staff are beyond wonderful. They really care and it shows.  My cats are my family, and I have every confidence in these folks when my babies need vet care. I actually adopted one of my cats through this office; they rescued a Tortie baby from their parking lot and I ended up falling in love with her and giving her a forever home.  This office does a lot of good for the neighborhood....discount vaccination clinics weekly. My pups and I love Dr.Bendit and his staff. They are always very caring, nice and accommodating. They resolved my dogs skin issues that I've tried to get treated at another vet with no success. The absolute worst Vet in the entire Tampa/Clearwater area! We would never recommend anyone take their beloved dog or cat to this clinic! Awful ,rude vet techs who are uncompassionate and unknowledgeable! Dr. Bendit and the staff are wonderful. They have taken very good care of my 2 chis Snickers and Missyann. Dr. Bendit takes the time to explain what is going on with my dogs and what should be done. I have also boarded my dogs there knowing they will take great care of them. I moved from Clearwater but have kept Dr. Bendit as their vet. Not the place I would go for compassion, I have a 13 year old cat that has been their customer all of her life. After her last visit, for sedation grooming my cat came home with uneven pupils, When my daughter called she was told it was probably a result of the bath, but she could bring her in for another charge. When I got home I noticed the cat was stumbling I called at 4:30 pm really alarmed and was told to hold, the receptionist came back said she had spoken to Dr. Bendit and he said to just take my cat to an emergency clinic. When I pressed saying that they knew my cat, and the meds given I was told they were getting ready to close. My cat has since seen a compassionate Vet in Countryside and I was told that she has a central nervous system issue most likely caused by sedation/age or trauma. She will never be the same or go back to that practice.Read Less

Dr Bendit is kind, compassionate and very thorough. I like his, "let's do this first, then we can go to this if we need to." approach. I have Veterinarians in the past charge hundreds of dollars for tests after just meeting the dog. finding out later that a much less aggressive approach, and less costly approach would have worked just as well. We are a military family and move around a lot Dr Mitchel Bendit and his staff are some of the  kindest people we have met. Our chocolate lab was very sick for a long time. All other vets were just giving antibiotics and not really looking for the problem, this kept us going back spending more and more money and not helping. The Veterinary Medical Hospital group did blood work and LISTENED to us and found the real problem. Our lab was spayed and once the anesthesia wore off you could tell she felt better. We almost lost a member of our family but Dr Mitchel Bendit and his staff took really good care of her, she now looks and acts like a happy, healthy dog. Read Less

Do not take your pets here! They seem very nice but got greedy and money hungry and will charge you an arm and a leg. Trust me, I've worked at animal hospitals and what they charge is ludicrous. Google where they live and you will see what you are helping to financially support. That, and their yacht Club membership. It's sad that you can't find a vet anymore that does it just for the animals. You are much better off taking your pets to connechusetts animal hospital in Clearwater instead. Read Less

I have been taking my cats to Vet Medical Center for years. Dr. Bendit and his wife are truly wonderful, caring people. They have always treated my cats as though they were their own. Thanks to Dr. Bendit's thorough care, we avoided unnecessary surgery on my cat. He also saved the life of my friend's cat which was receiving incorrect treatment for a serious infection at another vet. You can tell that they truly love their little furry patients both cats and dogs. They are really nice to the "parents" as well. Read Less

Listen.... This place is truly wonderful!! Although I moved back to SC last year, my now deceased husband and I lived in Florida over 11 years. I am very honest in saying that Dr. Bendit, his wife and staff ARE the best Veterinary Center that I have been to.... and I have been to many over the years. Although, I have never had a true non-profit organization for cats, I have felt like I have over the years, and trying to do so much for the strays as well as my own cats has been very hard on the pocketbook. This vet center helped as much as they could with our efforts and we really appreciated it. Also, you can really depend on Dr. Bendit's judgement, diagnosis, and overall care for his animal patients. I have also boarded my cats with them many times and always knew they were being treated very well while I was away.In addition, these people are very geniuine in their desire to take care of the animals and the Dr. and staff have very good "people skills" dealing with the pet's owners. Please know that this is not always the case at many other Vet Centers..., and I know this firsthand! My only regret is that I no longer have this Vet Center here in SC where I now live. So best wishes to this Vet Medical Center and I have ZERO reservation recommending them to anyone who wants great care for their loved ones. Read Less

Today my puppy became ill from eating styrofoam. Dr. Bendit and his staff were wonderful. It was a difficult day and the staff at Veterinary Hospital of Clearwater was there to lend a helping hand. Unlike most veterinarian hospitals, this hospital doesn't recommend unnecessary treatment and isn't just out for your hard earned dollars.
