Just had the worst experience of my entire life here, Me and my Fiancé just adopted a puppy named Asia, as instructed to us by the humane society that we adopted her at we took her to one of the Vets they listed, when we arrived we encounted a office manager that has no clue as to customer service, she was short, rude , and very unprofessional, to the extent of insulting other customers after they left. The doctor; doctor Thomas was professional yet would not let us accompany our new deaf dog to the back when they finally returned our puppy to us she was scared and shaken.... on a positive note, the one office person was polite and easy to deal with, I strongly advise against using this vet, if you care about your animals choose a place that will as well... They take great care of my two dogs and cat. Staff in the back is very professional especially Angel and Sharon. Sharon is a superstar; any clinic would be lucky to have her. Dr. Richter and Dr. Thomas do a great job and my trust in them is complete. Complete Fraud - Dr Thomas and her office staff will insist they only administer "One Year Distemper" vaccines and they do not administer the  "Three Year Vaccine". When asked about the differences between the strengths of the two vaccines - they will dance around the truth and pretend it is their system. The truth is there is no difference. The truth ethical veterinarians recognize the current standard of care in veterinary medicine  is that geriatric dogs (7 years or older) - esp. with history of vaccine reactions - only require distemper every three years. It is sad that Dr. Thomas would rather administer an unneeded vaccine to a geriatric dog with health issues then correct a date in their system. This should only speak to the care you will be getting here. I have read a lot of reviews here that say "if I could afford the prices, I would come here". Do not be fooled - big bills do not equal good care. Do not be afraid to read up on the health of your own pet - I worked for ten years as a veterinary technician and I will tell you - there are offices and doctors that love animals, then there are places like this - staff that is taught to deceive and bully customers, doctors that onlycare about dollar signs and a bottom line. It's sad. The moral of this story is - I did not investigate this clinic and the knowledge of Dr Thomas thoroughly enough prior to making an appt. My mistake means my geriatric dog will have to endure an extra, unnecessary vaccine this year. But the onething I can do - is not have it done here -so I will take her to another doctor and pay more for a new patient exam plus the vaccine to ensure Dr Thomas does not touch my dog. On top ofIt, the customer service (they hung on me three times - if you are an employee in a customer service role and your client is upset - hanging up on them should never be an option unless of course swear words, name calling is used - I certainly did not talk to anyone this way) from front desk staff is what you expect from the typical uncaring people who are just clocking in and are not true animal lovers. Furthermore, the third time the front desk manager hung up on me - she forgot to properly hung up on the phone and I listened as she "counseled" Dr Thomas on how to handle unhappy clients - the summary of her counseling is "if a client questions you as a doctor - get rid of them as clients. Let them go to another clinic". Good advice from an office manager. She even tried to say they called the vaccine manufacturer to verify that Distemper is not good for three years. I asked if I could also talk to the vaccine manufacturer to do my own due diligence - instead of giving me a proper number to allow me my own research - she hung up on me - a fourth time! Read Less

Extremely overpriced.  If money is no object, they are pretty good.  I have had to switch to a vet that is 25 minutes away because there are always extra charges and unnecessary tests they try to push.  I had to keep asking how much things will cost...and they were hesitant to tell me...just saying the vet would recommend what my dog NEEDED.  I felt they care more about the money than my pet. I've been coming her 30+ years with all my pets, dogs, cats, rabbits....Drs. Richter and Thomas are the kindest, most knowledgeable vets in all of Miami. The staff is too. And most of the staff has been here for YEARS, so they know the patients well.Through my law practice, I've known of horror stories of other vets.  Miami is a risky place to take animals for treatment. Not here.  Every time, most professional and educated service.  And they explain to me what is needed, why and how to manage my pets care at home.  Love this place so much. Would never leave. My dog went three months unprotected from the rabies virus because this vet was so careless they wrote down the date in which his renewal was due wrong, and didn't think to double check. Not only did they threaten my dog's life, I now have to pay a $130 fine with the city for letting the vaccine lapse. When I called them to tell them this they didn't offer to help me in any way and basically shrugged me off. Very disappointing experience. Read Less

Both Dr. Miller and Dr. Richter are extremely passionate and compassionate. I adopted a kitten that was very sick and he ended up being terminally ill with FIP and they both made the process so much easier. Dr. Miller worked with me to do everything we could to save my kitty and she didn't charge for a lot of the visits since I adopted him. They are both amazing vets and even better people. The staff has always been extremely friendly and welcoming, and the girls at the front desk are always excited to share about their experiences with furry friends! After we had to put my adopted kitten down, I got a call from Dr. Miller offering her condolences and also telling me about a stray kitten she found and offered her to me to adopt since she saw me through the whole process of adopting a sick kitty. She fostered the kitten for a month until my apartment was virus free and I'm picking up my new tiny kitten in a week! Dr. Miller is amazing :) Read Less

Coral Gables Animal Hospital is the BEST place you could take your beloved animals! From the reception staff, to the doctor's support staff, the interns and the nurses, and of course ALL the docs there, care for the animals like you would want to be treated by your own doctor! I trusted Dr. Richter and all the staff with my cats, Alex & Lexie for over 15 years, and when it came time to let them slip from this world, Dr. Richter and his staff couldn't have been more caring, considerate of my emotional feelings, and tender with the handling of my "kids"! Now, for the last 10 years I have had the pleasure of having Dr. Annette Thomas take care of my Cavalier King Charles spaniel. From everyday scrapes and routine exams, to his developing arthritic problems in his back and hips, and with the onset of his murmur at age 5, Dr.Thomas has been there always. She calls me with results of tests personally, she stays in contact with Corky's cardiologist, and she & the staff there keep his records up to the minute straight! I have boarded Corky with them as well, and although he's not the most cooperative boarder or patient, he loves Dr. Thomas & the nurses and staff! I know that at age 10 and in full congestive heart failure, my time with Corky is now limited. But I know that I can count on Dr. Thomas to be there for him and for me till the very end. I recommend the clinic to everyone I know, and I believe there is no better clinic in all of Miami. UPDATE: I just recently lost my Cavalier Corky, while on a cruise Corky developed problems associated with his heart disease and my housekeeper took him to Dr. Thomas right away. If not for her quick decision making, Corky would have died that night and I would not have gotten a chance to say goodbye! Thank you Dr. Thomas and Coral Gables Animal Hospital. I took my 2 & 1/2 old puppy for an initial exam. I had adopted her and so she had all her vaccines and deworming paid for as well as vet care, but the vet was almost 15 miles from my home. I heard so many great things about the CG Animal Hospital that I decided to give it a try. I had just finished my puppies deworming process not more than a week before I brought her to CG Animal Hospital and they ended up finding worms in her stool. Thank god they explained to me that she was never dewormed properly for her size and weight and that she was just given a general "laxative". Now my puppy is 3 months old and after applying the right meds she is happier and more active then ever. Thank you Dr. Richter! I LOVE Coral Gables Animal Hospital.  Dr. Richter has treated my 14 year old dog Henry for many issues, and he is always extremely caring, knowledgable and professional. The office is kept immaculately clean, which I really appreciate. We have been using the services of the Coral Gables Animal Hospital for almost 20 years. Our Lab lived to be 16 1/2 and I think a large part of her long life was having Dr. Richter as her vet. We would not think of taking our pets anywhere else! The staff is amazing, caring, and so friendly. They also groom for a great rate. I was calling around for a veterinarian that participates in the Cat Network's low cost spay/neuter program and this one was on the list. However, when I called to ask about their pricing, the receptionist answered and mentioned it's office policy not to quote a price over the phone, but she did mention it could possibly cost around $500 depending on required services... She insisted the pricing would depend on a veterinarian first seeing the kittens, running blood work and depending on the blood work results and on what they saw, then the price would be determined by the vet.  Needless to say I'll continue searching for a veterinarian elsewhere. If you're looking for quality vet care in the Coral Gables area and money is no object, I'd definitely recommend this vet office. Dr. Ritcher is the nicest and most compassionate vet that I've ever met, and I'm so glad that he helped my last dog through the later years of life. I don't use this vet office currently for my new puppy because it is substantially overpriced (compared to another quality vet with a smaller office that I found nearby), and they typically try to up-sell you on some unnecessary product, drug, etc. But if I had a complicated patient (i.e., a sick, elderly dog) and money were no object, I'd go back here. Note: Be prepared for long wait times at least on the weekends. I spent many Saturday mornings there for at least two-three hours.... albeit well worth it when you know you trust the vet! Read Less

I have never brought my pet here, nor will I ever. I have been parking in the parking lot across the street from this clinic for several months and every morning I watch them take their dogs to the park to go to the bathroom and never clean up after them. Pet waste contains bacteria that are harmful to us and our water. By leaving it in the park, harmful bacteria will be transported into the storm drains and then into our lakes and streams. It can also carry roundworms with an increased risk to small children and there is a preschool right next to the clinic! As a pet owner I know how important it is to clean up after my pet and it drives me crazy to see this EVERY morning! I think that if a clinic truly cared for and about it's animals then they would clean up after them. Why reward them with our service? Read Less

This is an upscale veterinarian so expect to pay upscale prices.  It is clean and the staff is friendly.  I went to Dr. Richter when my beloved cat was extremely ill.  He was unresponsive and at about 9 years old, I thought that it was the end.  Dr.  Richter quickly diagnosed his diabetes and was extremely honest about the prognosis.  He is a miracle worker the cat lived about 10 years more!  I loved that cat but he passed last year.  Dr. Richter is the best, he definitely cares about the animals and understands them.  Most vets dont concern themselves with the animals as individuals but he even described my cat as being sweet.  I was very impressed because if there ever was a sweet cat it was this one. Not being happy with the attitude of my cat's former vet, I asked a neighbor for a referral. I have now been bringing him to Dr Brad Richter for 7 years. The office is clean, friendly and efficient. Most importantly, Brad is a Marcus Welby type doc. Running in to him at the grocery store recently he introduced himself and asked how my cat, who is now 9 was doing. Thanks for being so caring Brad! I'm fairly happy with the services we've gotten from here.  They've got a good staff and seem genuinely concerned about your pet's well being.They also offer kennel services if you've got to go out of town and don't have anyone to look after your pet.  But call to make a reservation, because sometimes they fill up.
