The employees at Brookside should be made aware that the walls in their patient rooms are paper thin.  Your clients can very clearly hear about your opinions on immigration. As the child of immigrants and someone who has brought their pets here for the last few years, it is very disappointing to hear someone's voice dripping with disdain when complaining about how their taxes subsidize the living of immigrants. We were looking for a new vet as our previous vet moved away. Each time we take the dogs because they have a problem, the vets always want to do lots of tests to rule things out. My dog is old and I just want to make him comfortable and treat him when things come up like an ear infection or allergy, so I found this vet (Dr. Hekman) to be very thorough and give really good care for my beagle at an affordable cost.  He is already feeling better and I felt the office cared out him and I could trust them. We were big fans of this office but today was a bad an experience and frustration. After hospitalizing our dog last week (somewhere else because after hours) we wanted our primary vet to see our dog. I walked in 9 min after appointment time, so yes a few minutes late and the girl at the front desk said because I was "almost 15 min late" we need to reschedule. We have been here plenty of times before our appointment and still waited 30 min past our time, so why would the 9 min constitute you having to reschedule me and having zero flexibility to see my dog who was just in the hospital.I suggest retraining your front desk staff. We've brought our dogs to Brookside since we moved to FL about 3 years ago.  We are very happy with the level of care and follow-up we receive at this clinic. A very friendly staff, and the team of veterinarians is very good.  We recently moved up to Palm Beach and continue to drive all the way back down to Coral Springs because we are so comfortable with Brookside.  Also, if you have pet insurance they will take care of submitting the claims for you, which makes my life easier. As a scared dog mom, I couldn't have asked for a better experience when my dog was sick! We just moved to the area and haven't had time to find a vet yet. I initially took my dog to another hospital and although they could see I was shaking and scared, they told me that I would have to wait until the end of the night in order to be seen (it was 5pm, they closed at 7pm). I frantically began looking for another animal hospital and found Brookside. I came in, disheveled and all, and they immediately took me in, telling me everything they were going to do along the way. So sad that there is no 0 stars option. Took my dog with an emergency and the minute they found out we were not regular customers they said they could not see our dog. They said they were busy and that they could not do anything for us. Funny thing they were empty. only one customer besides us and they have a big sign of 24 hour emergency service for pets. The staff at the front desk always have a smile and greet you and your pet. This is the only hospital that I have ever taken my dogs too. My first dog I got was 5 years ago and the staff and vets here are amazing. Everyone is so sweet and friendly when you come in. They dots on the animals a lot. All the exam rooms are clean and the waiting area is clean as wellThe prices by far have been the cheapest I have seen. I've called around different animal clinics/hospitals for my new puppy that is closer to my house. Here they offer puppy packages. Each package is around $73 per visit and it covers the exam, fecal, nail trimming, flea and heart worm meds (single dose), and any vaccines they will need at that time. The bi annual exams are 68-80 dollars and that covers the exam and any vaccines they need at the time as well. For the annual exam I think it is around $200 and it covers vaccines that the animal might need at that time, exam, blood, heart worm test, and fecal. Other vets I have called around do a lot of a la cart prices. You have to pay for the exam, fecal, and vaccines separately and that can be costly..The Vets and Vet techs always take care of any needs and concerns that we have and I am grateful for that.As for boarding, we did tour the boarding area. I am very very late with this review, I have tried to sit down and write this several times; however emotions get the best of me & I have to stop writing. This review is difficult for me to write, but I will try my best.Dr. Glenn Kalick started practicing veterinary medicine in 1995 and his dream of owning his own animal hospital came true in 1999. I have nothing but gratitude and love for Dr. Kalick. He is compassionate and he has a huge heart. Many times, he emailed me while he was out of town to touch base with me & on several occasions he met me at his office at all different hours, regardless if his office was closed. The last two years I had my very sick geriatric Pomeranian, Dr. Kalick and I spoke several times a week. He cared as much about me as he did for Lucki. Towards the end we spoke or texted everyday. He would always make himself available regardless if his office was open or closed. When I adopt my next fur baby, Dr. Kalick would be the only veterinarian I would even consider using. All of his associates are wonderful too. All of them are big on follow up & I have received so many calls from his office just checking in to make sure everything was okay and that never stopped. Once all was said & done, I still continued to receive calls from his staff. Only now they were checking on me. Let me tell you about two amazing people who have been with Dr. Kalick for years because they deserve recognition too.Lori was my favorite tech. She always made both Lucki & I feel comfortable. She is unbelievable with all animals & has a heart of gold. Denise is my favorite member of Dr. Kalicks staff. She was the receptionist and I now believe she is the client liaison. Denise also went above and beyond to help us. She followed up with me all of the time including when it was just me. I will never forget how grateful I was to hear her voice on the phone.Funny Britt Story: So Lucki was on several medications and I had the bottles lined up on my kitchen counter. My meds were also on the counter. Long story short, I wound up accidently taking Lucki's meds instead of mine. I had to call Denise and tell her I took two doses of my dogs medication. I was frantic & Denise calmed me down & assured me I would be fine & I was. I had the entire front office staff cracking up. It really was funny. Leave it to me to do something like that.Dr. Kalick & his entire team are wonderful people. I highly recommend Brookside Animal Hospital to everyone who needs a fantastic veterinarian in the Coral Springs/Parkland area. On a side note, Dr. Kalick writes a monthly column in "The Parklander" magazine. The best the best the best!!! I have brought my kitty Cicero here for almost two years and now just started bringing our new pup Luna here. Every doctor and nurse we've seen has just been so compassionate about all situations.... and they always make my animals feel welcome. My pup doesn't even realize she's at the vet lol, she just thinks she's getting extra attention. Even if you don't live in the area, I would say they are worth the drive to know how well they will look after your pet. They also have puppy day care and kenneling I saw. I haven't tried yet but saw a lot of people coming in to pick their pups up so it seems like a great service !!!! Read Less

Extremely disappointed still waiting for a call back from Dr. Kalick. I brought my dog since Monday its now Fri after 7pm yet no response. I shared the fact that I had concerns about surgery & how it was done. My BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT is I scheduled surgery w Dr. Kalick, met w him on day of surgery before & after, was led to believe he did surgery. Only to find out 1wk. later after I voice some concerns that it was Dr. Martinez who did the surgery, a Dr. who I have NEVER met prior. That too when I brought my dog in on Monday to remove stitches, I was told no Dr. is available to talk with me, if that's​ the case, why would you give an apt. if no Dr. is available. I have no complaints against the 2 young ladies at Frontdesk or Copper who was v.nice. This is a complaint about being wrongfully misled & NOT getting my consent for another Dr. to do surgery. This is SERIOUSLY AGAINST PROFESSIONAL CODE OF ETHICS. It appears once I made all my paymts. your customer service cease to exist. These professionals are true animal lovers, very compassionate and fair. My mastiff pulled away from me and ran into the woods - got into a tussle with something. He got bit by the animal and I could hear him screaming in there while I was trying to get under the brush to get him. By the time he ran out, we were both shaking. I looked him over and thought I saw two puncture wounds. He was acting fine, but I kept thinking, what if it were a snake. It was the day before Christmas and I was dreading a hefty vet bill, but I had to make sure he was okay. Brookside was the closest vet and they took me with no notice. I guess I looked shook up because the receptionist got me a cup of water. They took Marley right away and calmed my fears. It was just superficial wounds, scratches. He didn't even need an antibiotic. I think we all can relate to Vets who pray on your fears and inflate the bill. Brookside did not. They charged me a small nominal fee for the examination. We were out of there within 30 mins. Thank you Brookside for not taking advantage of me. You are now my family vet. Read Less

When Dr Fox left his practice in Coral Springs i was so scared to find a vet that we could trust. I read an article that Dr Kalick wrote in the Parklander about working with Great Danes. We started going to Brookside in 2004. Since then they have saved out Great Dane before he passed twice. Saved our cat last year and taken such good care of our 5 doxies and our yorkie countless times. They treat me like family. Treat our pups as their own. I've been coming here since 2013 when we adopted our first fur baby, Barney. We met with Dr Leff and I was so happy to have found a vet who gives great advice not only for your dogs health but behavior, diet and even how to train yourself as a pet owner. On my first visit when we discussed House training she reminded me that anything a puppy does that is "bad" is probably my own fault  - which really is true. Did he potty in the house? Well that's because I didn't take him out enough or soon after he ate / drank. Did he chew my shoes? Well that's because I left my shoes out and left him alone with them - duh! But seriously she knows her stuff. Then we met Dr Kalick, who cared for our Barney when he wound up with a stomach ailment. Dr Kalick helped us out and got Barney on the right path to wellness. He also wound up being the first vet we took our second baby, Fred to. Little Fred was only 3 pounds when we adopted him and the rescue we got him from told us he shouldn't be more than 6 or 7 pounds. Well after our second visit Dr Kalick told us to our disbelief that Fred was going to be 3x his weight, probably 12 pounds. He's now an 11.5lb 1 year old morkie (we think?). I know a lot of this is not serious medical stuff but we have had some urgent medical issues and have been seen the same day (even Sunday) by any of their awesome vets. And their techs and front desk staff are amazing and kind and don't care that your dog is peeing on them or barking like crazy.  The compassion and genuine caring they all seem to have for animals is clear. They partner up after hours with Coral Springs animal hospital which is the premiere animal hospital in the area. I highly recommend this practice to anyone. Read Less

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try considering all the great reviews they have. My puppy was not eating and being lethargic. Also had green stuff coming out his private area and I was concerned so I made an appointment with brookside and so glad I did. I Calle don Saturday to make an appointment for Sunday but when I came in on Sunday to check in, they seem to not find any record of me making an appointment. But to my surprise they made room for me and got me in within 15 minutes. I was greeted by vet assistant and she was super friendly and nice to my puppy. I didn't get her name and also my vet Dr. Shector I think I may have spelled it wrong, but she was super nice and friendly. From the moment she stepped in to meet us she was kind and greeted my puppy with much love as if he was her own.She was very thorough king him and asking me all the right questions concerning the issues I was having with my baby. She even gave him a toy to take home which was an added bonus. I highly recommend this office for your beloved fur baby for any needs. As an added bonus they sent my baby home with a toy! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because when I asked before the visit how much it would cost to be seen, I was quoted for one price and when I brought him in and checked out I was charged $10 more then the actual quoted price. Not a big deal but wonder why the price adjusted. I'm not the one to ask or confront so I just paid and went on our way. I would come back overall. I called yesterday to get service for my pet, an i was told that the manager was going to call me back yesterday but there was no call back to me at all, then i called this morning, And the same thing happening today This place is the worst place to take your pets the Customer service Sucks. I was asked to hold then was hung up on in my face then I called back and was placed on hold with out them even asking me to hold then. when they did pick up the call there was laughing in the background for 2 mins until the lady put the phone to her ear. Then i starting asking question an she seemed clueless to the questions . She tried to throw me off phone after i was hung up on 3 times. i have sent many ppl to them an i truly upset that i could not get the answers to the Question i had about the pets an the pricing. Other vet clinics won't--they'll tell you to go to an animal ER.The care your pet will receive at Brookside is great as well. I moved up here from Davie In November. I took my puppy in for his last round of Puppy shots as a first visit. I was very impressed with the place as well as the staff. First, You do not have to wait in the waiting room to pay your bill. It is done in the privacy of the room to keep the pet calm and the owner hands-free. Second, they have a candle in the front area that has a note saying "If this candle is lit, someone is saying goodbye to their forever friend. Please keep voices at a respectful level. I am a huge review reader, but this is actually my own first review! There was no way I could not recognize this excellent group of people. I got a puppy the second week of January...an English Golden Retriever...to be trained as a service dog for my daughter with Autism. Never did I imagine that this puppy would have any health issues, especially coming from a very reputable breeder. Dr Leff was amazing: Kind, yet very direct. Informative, yet not overwhelming. She told me exactly what I needed to know and to hear, while maintaining a very high level of care, concern, and professionalism. Her technician/assistant Anthony, was amazing as well. I have never met such a warm, empathetic, and caring individual. They both went above and beyond the call of duty and helped me during a difficult time of receiving not the best of news... Brookside Animal Hospital is far away from my home but I happily travel 35 minutes BECAUSE of the treatment that we ALWAYS receive from Dr Leff and her team. From the front desk staff who are knowledgable about so much, kind and friendly, to the Tech staff who are always keen to listen and then help, to Dr Leff, who is the kindest and most considerate Vet I have met. She's informed, up-to-date, well read and can explain why she's doing what. My dog had an issue with her eye and she quickly identified it and helped me sort it out. The follow-up calls are caring and a smart way to keep in touch and answer any questions that might come up along the way. I love the new idea of checking out in the room - that way my dog doesn't have all the other animals in the waiting room to stress about (or vice versa)! I would HIGHLY recommend this vet practice. I have to honestly say that I had a fantastic experience at Brookside. Normally going to the vet is not something a person looks forward to but at Brookside a person does. The front desk staff greet you with a smile, are attentive and helpful. My kitten and I were taken back to a room in a timely manner and had the pleasure of being attended to by Erin, our vet tech. She was knowledgable and handled my kitten with great care. Not long after, Dr Goldberger came and I was impressed with her kind demeanor and professionalism. I feel really good about the care my kitten received and would recommend Brookside to anyone. I've loved them in the past, but not anymore as they've lost the hometown feeling towards loyal customers (now just OK). When the screw up they run around in circles not wanting to deal with you. Failed to give my dog his required and "due" shots when I dropped her off. Paid for everything, but as they put it; overlooked. Brookside is not exactly an "around the corner commute" for me. But they're throwing some doggie treats at me as a way to say, I'm sorry Mr. Customer who's been with us for 10 plus years. Think I'll just let them hang on to those treats. Read Less
