Opened in 2006 this wildlife center operates on 5 acres of land donated by the city of Coral Springs in the Sportsplex Park. They treat, rehabilitate, and release back into the wild native wildlife. If the animals are too injured to return to the wild they are cared for at the center for the rest of their lives. The majority of patients are song birds, raccoons, possums, and squirrels. Approximately 1,000 animals receive treatment at the center. Animals arrive from all over South Florida because they are the only wildlife hospital between one in Ft. Lauderdale and Busch Wildlife Center in Jupiter.I've taken two birds I found on separate occasions to them. Each time I've visited I dropped off a check with the animals for their care. Funds are tight and every bit helps to allow them to continue rescuing animals. The operate solely on donations. My most recent visit was for the centers Earth Day celebration. They had animals out for photos, educational booths, food, and raffles. It was a great event to raise funds for the center and to bring attention to it's mission of rescuing injured wildlife. In addition to the Earth Day celebration they offer other events throughout the year as well as educational programs. A full list can be found on their website as well as ways to volunteer and donate. Read Less

This center could be so much, but will never thrive with Allen Rose. The current Direct Allen Rose collects the money, but where does it go??? They have had two Gala in 2015 50K raised and 2016 monies were collected and never used for their purpose and he scrambled to get things done before this years Gala because they were asking when things were going to be completed and where is the money?
You tell the staff they need to cut expenses and you list the animals food REALLY try your of $5,000.00 a month salary Allen!
Funny how you are starting to suddenly start doing things at the center for the habitats. I truly hope you actually put the money into the center and those animals because you are going to have to answer for it. This is a non profit 501(c)(3), which means you have to account for the monies. I truly hope you get that place in order because it is all about taking care of the animals and not personal gain.
What about the Turtle raffle for the replica of the turtle for $5.00 a ticket?? Why is it still under the desk in the admin building where is that money and who is the winner. Money was collected and they want to know the winner if not you need to refund that money to every person because they is FRAUD to collect and never annouce a winner. Please for the sake of the animals get the center in order and every person who sits on that board do your job and make sure everything is run correctly.

I have been volunteering for the SNCWH for about 5 years now. I also got my father who is retired to volunteer here which has been wonderful for him. Joan Kohl started this organization over a decade ago in her backyard. Her dedication to these animals is unparalleled and she (and her husband) have worked her TAIL off to grow the SNCWH into what it is today. She gives 110% to helping injured and abandoned wildlife. Dotty currently runs the day to day operations and she is a lovely woman who works tirelessly as well. Donna runs the hospital side of the facility and I volunteered by her side for about 2 years. She literally eats (well, not literally)!!, breathes and sleeps these animals. When an injured animals comes in the front door, she is on it in a flash. She whips it into the clinic area and accesses it's needs fast as lightning. Sometimes she has to perform minor surgery. When it is baby season, the hospital receives many orphans who have to be fed around the clock. That means Donna takes many of them home and tends to them all night. Robin runs the education area of the facility and really enjoys working with the kids. She is a power house and can do 10 things at once. Working with these dedicated women has been a pleasure and a privilege. As the other reviews have stated, there is an outdoor exhibit area consisting of injured animals. Definitely an interesting and educational place to take children. They are now charging a small donation to see the animals and I recommend that you give them more than recommended. The animals deserve it. Also visit the super cute gift shop inside and buy 2 or 6 things. ;-) Great place for kids birthday parties, ask about them inside!!! Read Less

This little-known place is a gem in Coral Springs. They're helping out local wildlife. They also offer programs for kids, including a Be Kind to Animals segment every weekend. Highly recommended for a visit. They're just off the Sawgrass - we all drive by every day and most people don't know about this place. Read Less

This is an amazing nature center that is small but fascinating and has a lot of programs that allows the community to get involved.I really love the work that they do here. And the animals here really enjoy nice living spaces that are similar to their natural habitat. There are more so reptiles and birds here. Our favorites had to be the tortoises and the many different owls that reside here.We were pleasantly surprised when we were looking at the Parrots and one of the parrots started to repeat what we were saying. We didn't expect that so that really got us going. If you come on Sunday's, admission is free but they are always accepting donations. Read Less

Read Less

This is a nice place to spend an hour or so. They have a bunch of different birds, a couple reptiles including a baby alligator and a tortoise. There is a class on Wednesdays for the kids where they get a little tour, do some activities and hold whatever animal they take out for that day. It's a cute place and very cheap to take the little ones. Older kids would get bored pretty quick and adults, well like I said it's mostly for the little ones. Small place but fun for little cost.
