I have been going to Doctor Harris for 24 years of my life and I absolutely love him. He is by far the best veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure of growing up around. He's not only watched 3 of my boxers grow and treated them to the best possible care, but he also did 2 of my boxers ears Sargent and Major. Amongst treating numerous felines of mine as well. I have been compliment on both, Sargent and Major's ears numerous times too! Granted, I want to make a point considering the reviews I have read; your dogs behavior is a huge role with being treated so unfortunately as much as I love my latest boxer Major, I also have had issues with him at the vent and to be frank he is quite the major pain to others. But he means well and if he knew he wasn't in harms way or trying to guard our family 24/7...he'd be better. That being said, it starts with the owner's discipline with their animal. You can't blame others, especially a medical professional like Dr. Harris for a scared animal that is only reacting to an unfamiliar situation like a veternarians office (think children at a dentist). Point is, he's a wonderful doctor and a wonderfully professional man. I recommend if you want the best care, he's your guy. He's not a psychologist to please you and his prices aren't fixed to disappoint you, it's to help your animal receive the best care possible and that sometimes cost a pretty penny. All in all, he truly is a wonderful doctor! My opinion...go to him! Read Less

I was told that the initial consolation fee would be $44.00 and that they would tell me the final price of treatment before the treatment took place. I am new to Miami and had to board my 2 dogs for 3 days. I have a 5 year old dachshund who has separation anxiety, is on meds and has had 2 surgeries to remove items from her stomach. I boarded them for the first time ever because I didn't know anyone to pet sit and thought they would be safe. The tech put a dog bed in the kennel after I told her the situation and not to put anything in the kennel that I didn't give them. She told me the dog ate the dog bed while she watched. I gave her instructions to give her extra meds and keep her in the kennel with my other dog. She did not tell me she was off the next day and when I called at noon the next day, she had not communicated the information. I spoke with the vet the next day and he agreed to xray her for free. Thank you. When I dropped the dogs off, the tech, Ali, said I could not pick them up until 5 the day I returned. I said I wanted to pick them up at noon and she agreed. When I called, she tried to refuse to allow me to pick them up. When I showed up to pick them up, they tried to charge me an additional $244 for 2 shots per dog that I was not told about and did not agree to. I provided shot records to show they were not due until Jan 2017. When I asked about it, I was told that it was policy to give them every 6 months. When I asked why my previous vets (all of them) only gave them once a year, Ali told me that it was their local policy. I said I would not pay for them because I showed my shot records and Ali told me the only thing they needed was a fecal exam, which I agreed to. In the end, I was not charged, but I was asked not to return. In summary, I took my dogs there to be safe and they put one of my dog's life at risk. She has previously had 2 surgeries to her stomach and I have been told that another surgery would kill her. I was treated rudely, lied to and my dogs were put in jeopardy. Don't use this vet EVER!!!!! Read Less

When I adopted my pup from the rescue I was told to bring him here to have his hernia repaired and his first set of shots covered by the adoption fee.  I brought him back a year after that for his yearly shots and paid over $300. I then received a notice in the mail 6 months later to give him his booster shots. I was quoted a price on the phone when I made the appointment but was charged a higher amount upon check out. When I received the reminder in the mail that it was time for my pup's annual shots this month, I called and asked to have his records mailed to me because I live over 45 minutes from the clinic. The person at the front desk said she would call me back to see if that's possible.  Another woman called me back and said she can't mail his records to me, I'd have to go pick them up in person. I then asked if there was anyway she could email or fax me the 2 page file and she said no, she can't do that. Also, it seems to be a hassle when I need something from the front desk. They wouldn't fax or email the prescriptions to the online pet pharmacy directly (I order my dog's prescriptions for Nexguard and Heartguard online for a much cheaper price).  The clinic would mail it to me and then I would take a picture and upload it to the pet pharmacy website. It's a shame because I liked the vet. He was always very gentle with my little 8 pound pup.Needless to say, I found another vet whose staff is much more helpful and can properly quote me the prices for procedures and take care of his prescriptions. I have been going to this vet for 30 years with my different dogs. I take my 12 yr old mixed breed Lily here every 4-6 weeks for bath, nail trim etc..She had never had her teeth cleaned and Dr Steele recommended I get that done. I agreed. I left her for day and when I picked her up at 4 PM, Dr Steele told me to pay my bill and then see him in exam room so he could give me antibiotics for her. I paid the 334.00 bill with my AMEX and had Lily on a leash. We walked into exam room and started to talk to Dr Steele. I was holding my dog's leash, she was 90% in the room with her head in doorway looking around.Out of nowhere a wild cat jumped on her head and proceeded to try to scratch her eyes out. My mellow, sweet dog just stood there. I hadn't quite figured out what was happening yet. I started to pull her leash into room to dislodge cat, but the cat  stayed on her. She was bleeding from around her eyes and mouth. A vet tech managed to get cat off her( I understand she was hurt also). The vet cleaned Lily up. She seemed to be in shock. He said the cat had tried to scratch her eyes out. She had small puncture wounds around eyes and mouth. When I asked Dr Steele what the heck had just happened? His answer was(very non nonchalantly) Oh, that was a "outdoor cat" we are trying to train to be a "indoor) cat. I asked why the hell would you be so irresponsible and negligent to have a "wild" cat loose in here? He said the cat doesn't like dogs, was probably harassed by dogs living outside. He corrected me and said it wasn't a wild cat, but a outdoor  cat.I'm not sure what the distinction is, just that it was really stupid. I said what if I had my 2 yr old grandson with me and the cat doesn't like kids either. Told him, if he wanted to train cat to be indoor cat he should have taken it to his house, not let it run around office. I told him I wanted my AMEX credited back to me. He said I would have to talk to Dr Harris, who is the owner. I asked to have him call me to discuss situation. That was a on a Wed 8/18/15. Dr Harris was to come in next day. After all the yrs going there, he didn't have the courtesy to call me. I went in Monday and picked up my records. I put a dispute into my AMEX for the $334.00,it's pending. I have also filed a complaint with the Dept of Business Regulation in Tallahassee. Read Less

DO NOT take your pet here! Unless you want to wait...and wait...and wait. Staff members are not the most friendly and they charge you extra for everything! I took my dog there last week for boarding after his annual a week prior. I brought dog food portioned out for his stay.  When I checked him in, they not only told me that there is a $3.00 charge per days for them to feed him his food, there is a $10 day of pick up fee. Finally, two more vaccinations were required at a charge of $55 each. Really?! More vaccinations after an annual visit? Especially since I made the boarding reservations at the same time. Finally, I received a call on pick up day at 5pm reminding me that I had 30 mins to pick up my dog. When I got there, no only was there an hours of operation sign posted with the closing time of 6:00 pm, I was told that if I was late, I would have to pay for another night.  I just moved to the area and am looking for a good vet and kennel...this is not the place. Took my cat in for a flea bath on 12/30/2013. While she was there I had my home fogged, washed all fabrics and cleaned from the ceiling fans to the floor. When I picked her up that evening she was sill scratching herself in the carrier but I figured it was just because of the wash making her skin itchy. That night after she wouldn't stop scratching I checked her and immediately found fleas. I called back in the morning and was told they must have jumped back on her when she got home which I know was no the case. They reluctantly told me to bring her back in for another bath. I took her back and when I picked her up I took her straight to a family members home that has no pets while I could do another thorough fogging and cleaning of my house. I got a call the next day telling me she was still scratching constantly so I went by that evening and sure enough I immediately found fleas on her. I called Old Cutler Animal Clinic and was told there was nothing they could do but sell me flea prevention products and they did not recommend other over the counter products like Advantage II. I declined and went to Petco and purchased Advantage II that was recommended by other cat owners. By the next morning of applying the Advantage II my cat was no longer scratching and I can't find any more fleas. Read Less

For the love of your pet, DO NOT take them to Old Cutler Animal Clinic.  I started bringing my dog there when we moved here two years ago because it is near our house and she gets anxiety in the car.  I always felt that Dr. Harris and his employees were very cold, but my dog has never had health problems so we are usually just in and out.  Last week I noticed that my dog had an issue with scabs on her skin, so I brought her in immediately.  Dr. Harris barely looked at her, told me she had fleas, gave her a shot and told me to call back if she didn't stop itching.  The next day she was still itching, so I called back.  Dr. Harris had his receptionist call me back and tell me that the meds would take a few days to work.  I had a few more questions and this idiot receptionist was answering me as if she was qualified to do so, which she clearly was not!  Meanwhile I could tell that my poor dog was in pain.  The next day I called another vet and brought her in.  Our new vet examined her and told me that she had a severe allergy and infection and that it was a miracle that she was able to walk because her paws were so raw.  By that afternoon she was back to her old happy self.  I feel terrible that I didn't follow my instincts and leave Old Cutler after our first visit.  To top it all off, they are expensive! The veterinary clinic where I normally take my dog does not offer boarding, so I thought to try the boarding facilities here. When I first made the appointment, I called my regular vet and had them fax over the vaccination records. An hour before I was to take my dog to be boarded, Old Cutler Animal Clinic called and told me that they would not accept several of the vaccinations (distemper, hep, lepto and parvo), because these vaccines had a three-year expiration and they only accept vaccines with a one-year expiration. They proposed to give her additional vaccines, at a price of $160. Otherwise, they would not accept her for boarding. When I called my regular vet, they advised against this because they felt that it could be harmful to overvaccinate the dog. Fortunately, I was able to find another place to board my dog, even though it was at the last minute. Read Less

Definitely worth any wait. New to the area, but love my cat too much to go for anything off highway 1! I found this place by chance and am tickled pink.  Super friendly front staff, no computers, but the veterinarians are superb. Also, since it's a small local operation with a long history they are very personal, they even recognize my mom when she picks up my kitty's prescription! Love them. Read Less

However when I came to get him I heard a lady in the back upset complaining how late I was.....how inconvenient I was to the animal clinic...I need to pay board ........and the poor receptionist was begging not to charge me because I am a new client.

Read Less

We have a great dane and two cats, ad have been very happy with the doctors and staff at the Old Cutler Animal Clinic. They are flexible with appointments, friendly and accommodating. The waiting room is relaxing and has a good vibe. Both doctors are great and know what they are doing. I would highly recommend this vet.Read Less
