Came here with my sister and unfortunately had to put down our old baby(she had heart problems) she was so seeeg and we dearly miss her.I give a 5 star reviews because of the assistant technician who came in after words to help me walk out of the room and said some very kind words Thank you so much I believe if I'm not mistaken her name is Rios she was very nice and I would come back any time and with any emergency if I would be treated well and as long as that one person is there she was honestly the sweetest and very professional with her words I wouldn't thought she was one of the managers coming and speaking to me❤️ Read Less

Dr Jamie Nenezian is the worst vet I’ve ever met in my life. I own a 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary in Plant City, Fl and have dealt with many different vets for domestic and exotic animals. She takes the cake for worst and most unethical. Report her to the Fl Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation. I only went to an “emergency” facility because it was a weekend and my regular vet didn’t have an opening. It wasn’t because my animal had any observable physical injuries or was in an acute condition. With the animal rescue and sanctuary that I own, I do almost all the vet care myself…so I went to the vet to get antibiotics since my vet couldn’t see me until later the following week. We brought him to Dr N less than 24 hours after we noticed sickness. Just like we do with every other sick animal. She took him back and after 10 minutes told me he needed to be euthanized! I was shocked! How can you make that determination so quickly without blood work, cultures, x-rays or literally ANY diagnostic test other than your “gut feeling?” She gave me two options from there. Spend thousands by leaving him at her facility (but he will probably die because, according to her, his situation was so dire that she just recommended euthanasia). The other option was euthanize him and she could do a necropsy to figure out what was wrong with him. There was no third option and she literally told me that it would be unethical for me to take him home and “she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.” Again, I’m shocked….did this vet just tell me to euthanize an animal after doing ZERO diagnostic tests (other than vitals/weight) and then follow up by telling me I’m unethical if I don’t comply? I’ll pause there to add backstory on another patient that was in front of me when I arrived. Lady comes in with a cat. Cat goes back…Dr N comes out minutes later to tell lady that cat needs to be euthanized and it would be unethical not to. Okay, cool…not my cat, not my problem. Maybe the cat needed to be euthanized? Back to my story…my animal definitely did not need to be euthanized. You don’t put an animal down at the first sign of sickness. If we did, why even have veterinary medicine at all? So, after only having been at the vet’s office for 30 minutes at this point and hearing Dr N push two people to euthanize, I was speechless. Once Dr N left the room, I looked up her reviews to see if I’m just crazy or if this is a regular thing…well it’s her thing!! She uses euthanasia as a primary solution instead of a last resort. Look through the other reviews and you’ll notice the pattern. She tells people that “ethically,” you need to either spend thousands at the facility that she owns (so she obviously has a vested interest in bringing in profits), and if you don’t want to you need to at least spend hundreds on euthanasia, necropsy, and cremation. Then, she tops it all off with emotional manipulation…she literally tells you that you’re unethical if you don’t comply! Dr N called me unethical for telling her I wouldn’t euthanize my animal and I was leaving. She then threatened to call the FWC on me for animal abuse! Wow, the irony. This woman resorted to threats to get me to comply with her “orders.” I’m a former Marine officer, so good luck trying to intimidate me with “orders.” Wrapping up…I took my little cockatiel, Peanut, to an awesome vet on Monday and she DID NOT recommend euthanasia!! Can you believe that she actually thought it best to try to save the animal?? What?! Crazy. She sent me home with antibiotics and a food supplement. Will Peanut live? I don’t know, but I’m sure as heck going to give him his best shot! I can’t say the same for the cat though…unfortunately, the cat was euthanized (I heard the owner agree to it—reluctantly and in tears of course). I’m happy to be called unethical by Dr N for not being emotionally manipulated into euthanasia…because Peanut still has a chance at life! Read Less

My rabbit suddenly got very sick and they were the only emergency vet open at 3 am available to take in exotic pets. Despite having to pay $165 before anything was even done, the take in process was very easy and the woman working the front desk was extremely sweet but that was our last positive moment there. I brought my rabbit in because of suspected GI stasis/obstruction that had taken a very quick turn for the worse. My rabbit had only gone through triage to get his vitals taken and be stabilized - he was NOT examined - but the vet was determined he had suffered a spinal injury (which was extremely unlikely) since he wouldn't move his legs, so they immediately recommended euthanasia. I pushed for X-rays and bloodwork and instead they gave me an ultimatum of $2k+ in additional diagnostics, not including treatment, or euthanasia for $95 + $230 for a PAPER coffin or communal cremation + an urn with maybe some of my rabbits remains. Ultimately I decided to take my rabbit back home so he could be surrounded by those who loved him. When I told them that I decided to take my rabbit home, the same rabbit I had given to them cradled in blankets was returned to us being supported with just one arm leaving his entire lower half hanging - not the way you would carry an animal with an alleged spinal injury right? Before releasing him, they did administer some pain medication and hydration injections, 3 hours after arriving, which I was extremely grateful for but that means they left him in pain and severely dehydrated in an incubator for THREE HOURS. However, they also gave us Critical Care to feed him every few hours - although I appreciated the gesture, if he did have GI blockage giving him more food would only aggravate the situation but since they refused to perform just an x-ray we didn't know for sure. I took my rabbit home and I will admit he was in a very weakened state but he was stable and even moving his legs again, clearly his spine was fine. He unfortunately passed away after we attempted to feed him. Aside from getting tunnel vision with their approach to my rabbits care, since there are countless TREATABLE conditions that could've caused this, they were extremely curt and unempathetic. The whole time it felt like they were criticizing us as caregivers and discouraging us from going through diagnostics by throwing around large numbers and were pushing for euthanasia - it just felt like they wanted to take our money. Before leaving they made us sign a "Refusal of Advice" form which made us feel even more guilty (every parent of a sick pet already feels guilty) and was grossly reductive. We wanted treatment but they were inflexible!! It was either $2k+ or nothing. I'm not sure that my rabbit could have been saved but this vet didn't even try. Read Less

Drove 45 minutes to St Charles Veterinary to the emergency room for my cat. They said the visit would cost $130 but at arrival they charged us $500 for testing (x-ray, emergency stabilization, etc) They wouldn’t do anything with the cat until we gave them the money, and after assuring them that we would pay (using PayPal) they immediately began treating him. It was a gut wrenching feeling, and I didn’t trust they were going to help him. They put me in a examination room for an hour, and I was not able to leave the room, literally. I asked if I could leave because I share the responsibility of the cat, and the Doctor said no, and I would have to speak to my sister/mother on speaker over cellphone to make decisions for his care. After reviewing his X-ray they still couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong, but wouldn’t send a blood test until we paid $3,200. Not being able to afford it, they pressed us to put the cat down. We still would have to pay $200 and then bring the cat home dead.. because cremation was too expensive. Horrific experience. We were not leaving our cat with them. They gave us one single dose of Lasik after leaving for an extra $20. It was all about money, and the pressure coming from these doctors and nurses was telling. They don’t care if your pet is dying, because they will take advantage of your vulnerability during a difficult time. They have no problem pressing you into a corner to put your pet down. Don’t bring your animals here, ever. This place needs to be investigated for how they take advantage of people. They will not help your pet unless you pay lots of money and do very little to help the pet. Please reconsider taking your pet here and go somewhere else. Read Less

This used to be a great practice. Once Dr. Parrot retired the place went woke. How dare a pet owner question anything about their pet's care? They will separate you from the practice if they perceive you might question or complain or question why it is necessary to be put in the poor position of waiting outside in a car with a sick pet, in Florida heat for over 4 hours! These woke Lillith women have a high opinion of themselves, however they are not adept at diagnosing simple ailments. They love to reccomend euthanasia if you are unable to pay their ego centric prices. I highly recommend that if you love your pets steer clear from this so called practice. Once in awhile, a miracle occurs & you can catch them in a good mood, & your pet gets lucky that visit. This practice has the worst reviews; with reason. Covid19 restrictions accelerated their bad behaviour & fueled their power trip.Interestingly, they say it is so soul crushing for the entire staff when they receive bad reviews. 😆 Proof their true concern is not for your pets, but their tender egos. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS. Read Less

I had brought my cat here 2 years ago and was told she most likely had cancer and the price started at $3000, I could not afford that so the next day when my vet was open I brought her there - she needed her teeth removed and she has been great ever since- only $800. I had another emergency with my other cat and brought him here at 830pm- I am just now getting an estimate at 1145pm- my cats eye is bleeding and bulging from his head and just now is anything being done! I wanted him to have pain medication but nothing yet. They only want to prioritize your animal if you can overpay and complete all sorts of unnecessary testing and extra fees- they quoted me $2500 for an eye removal- I called two other emergency locations in central Florida and they said they charge $800-$1200. I don’t mind waiting and I understand other cases come in and need to be evaluated but have a heart and at least give these animals pain medication. I should not have made the mistake again of bringing my animal here but I was hoping the first time was a fluke. If you brought your animal here then you were seriously overcharged- Haines City Pet Hospital is the only place I’m taking my loved pets! Also- they had time order take out food during all the “emergencies” but no time to get a quote that takes 10 min or give a pain medication injection. Read Less

PET OWNERS, BE AWARE! Do not use this vet clinic/hospital! I had been taken my dogs here for YEARS, and on 7/20/2019, my pit/boxer 2 y/o was given Carprofen Chewable tablets for an inflamed joint. First dose given the following day (the 21st) as it had to be given with food. 5 days later, my dog had an epileptic seizure! I looked online and learned that one of the side effects of this medicine was seizures so we stopped giving him the medication. A week later, we took him back to the clinic for follow up and was seen by the same doctor who prescribed the medication, Dr. Jamie Nenezian, DVM. My husband told the doctor about the seizures and about the medicine's side effect that his wife (me) had found online. The doctor told my husband that there was no such side effect and that when "your wife gets her DVM she can say what medication works or not." She was rude and told my husband that she gave that medicine to her own dogs and they never had a problem. Well, any medicine, for human or animal, does not work the same on every other human or animal, and this is a fact! My husband came home and said that we would never again go to that clinic. However, and this is the horror of this place, last night my pup had another, really bad seizure. It took me for ever to be able to get him in the car to take him to their Emergency Clinic. First things first, I had to pay $500, but the transaction was cancelled. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck, crying and worried sick about my dog. One of the ladies came from the back and asked me to sit down that they needed to check something. A couple of minutes later, she comes out with a very bad attitude and told me that we had received a certified letter from Dr. Parrot stating that WE HAD BEEN FIRED FROM THE CLINIC AND THEY WOULD NO LONGER SEE NONE OF OUR PETS! They accused my husband of being "combatant" (her words), and that the medicine that my dog was given did not cause any seizures, and was actually going to show me this website on her phone that talked about the medication, which by the way she said had been Gabapentin, when it was Carprofen. At that moment I was in such a state of shock that no words came out of me except, "WHAT?". She just said, you will have to leave. "We can give you directions for another vet hospital, if you want." That's what she said. I was speechless! My dog is still in bad shape. Will be taking him to another vet, of course. But it is possible that their negligence in denying him treatment could result in permanent damage to my dog. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T GO TO ST. CHARLES VETERINARY CLINIC OR EMERGENCY CENTER! They DO NOT care about your pet or their parents! A human being cannot be denied emergency care in any hospital, regardless! And here I was, at an emergency clinic, and they denied my dog the treatment that he needed! They only care about the bottom line, how much money they can get! This used to be a good clinic but they now have more money and moved to a new location and it has gone downhill in service and care. For your pets' sake, please look for other clinic before going here. Read Less

Just moved to the area about a month ago and didn't have the chance to look for a veterinarian when my little one "Trixie" had an small accident with her nail/foot that unfortunately required immediate attention. This hospital came recommended from the facility I used for boarding as well as the neighbors. Since I needed immediate attention, I had to use their emergency service. I was very impressed with the front desk staff for check-in very professional, polite and friendly. The facility itself appears relatively new, very clean and they even have coffee available while waiting. The vet assistants were very thorough and attentive to the injury. The vet was incredible and a "no none sense" approach attending to all of Trixie's needs. They explained all of the treatment she would be getting and went over all of the medications with me. Overall, I recommend this facility and will be making it our regular place. Read Less

Response from St Charles Veterinary Hospital
11 Apr 2019
Good Afternoon Ms. Jefferies, Loosing a pet tragically and unexpectedly is very difficult to withstand. We understand your hurt, and profoundly sympathize with your situation. We treat each emergency swiftly and efficiently as possible all while modeling ourselves after a human emergency hospital. Only after hearing from 2 different veterinary clinics you had visited prior to your arrival, that was the moment we were warned it was a possible snake bite. The presenter of your pet conversed a very different situation for an injured limb after a morning walk. A lot of the times, these lifesaving opportunities are often delayed due to travel times, visiting other clinics on the way to our facility, and unknown knowledge of the exact situation that occurred. We empathize that emergency services are very financially hard, and usually ends up delaying the treatments even further. After discussing numerous possible options with your family regarding payment assistance, decisions were still not made in a prompt manner. This did affect your dog’s already very poor prognosis, all while we were consistently communicating the grave danger your pet was in. Therefore, we have owners presenting a critical patient to authorize funding for services up front so we may help their family immediately without hesitation. This will always make the difference. After further review of your chart, your pet was immediately triaged with initial critical treatments started upon entering the exam room. Simultaneously, during the doctor consult, a very extensive and detailed treatment plan was personalized for your pet within minutes of your arrival. Your pet was in extreme time sensitive danger and we were very up front with your family about these sensitives. We are troubled to hear you thought this was patronizing in anyway. We had to be clear about what was not being understood. Ultimately, the full extent of treatment was declined. We cannot proceed with diagnostics or procedures without the owner’s written permission. Anti-Venin was prepared promptly by the manufacturer’s directions; this cannot be rushed. This very sensitive material must be stored in a particular manner and prepared extremely specifically. This does take time, and again we must obtain approval and funding for this. Again, we are very sorry to hear and see your pain after loosing a loved one. We hope the memories you have bring some comfort during this difficult time. If you have any further questions, please let us know and we will do our very best to clarify any concerns you might have.

We are snowbirds. Took my fur baby to the Veternary before we left for shots, exam and heart worm test. Have proof of her rabies and shot history. She was in great shape but forgot to have her nails trimmed. Got here to Florida and called the closest one to us and they wouldn't trim her nails without an exam. That's ridiculous. We are very deeply saddened to hear of your opinion of our hospital protocols. St Charles Veterinary Hospital operates with a very high standard of excellence. We place these exams in, not for financial gain, but for your pet's safety and health. We would rather be able to address any potential concerns prior to any services that could be exacerbated by an underlying issue. This ensures that your family's needs are met fully and completely. We understand that veterinary care, especially when in two locations is a lot to keep up on, that is why we honor our exams up to a year! Please let us change your mind in the future and you will see why we are compared to none!

Quick set up: my dogs were playing, there was an accident and one got a cut on her chest/arm, you could see muscle, my normal vet is in another state.     So I was in a bit of a panic but my Dixie seemed fine and it wasn't bleeding. A friend recommended St. Charles so I took her in as soon as they opened and let me tell you.... WONDERFUL. They were super nice and helpful, and took her immediately. Yes there was a fee of $99 for an emergency visit but I didnt mind because she was being taken care of. They examined her, explained everything in detail, were compassionate that we were worried about her and very understanding when we got emotional. They explained how they would have to put her under to clean, drain and stitch the wound and took their time with our questions. We had to leave her there for a few hours but they put us at ease saying we could call anytime as often as we wanted to check in. When we went to pick her up they didn't just hand her to us, they brought us to a room, explained how to care for her with her meds and what to expect from it healing. They told us if we had questions to call or email or stop in and they would help. They even called a few days later to check in!! I see some people say they are too expensive, and yes it did cost $500 total, HOWEVER you get what your paying for. They even refunded $75 when it cost less than the estimate!! And they care SOOOOO much about your pet that they have a candle in their waiting area, that if lit you know someone is there saying goodbye to their pet forever.... so respectful and sweet! I would visit this place again in a heart beat! And would highly recommend. If your pets are like your babies this place is for you! Oh oh and I forgot when they had her asleep hey even cut her nails!!! I know that's small but it meant a lot:) Thank you!! Read Less

I gave 1 star cause this place is one of the worst place I have ever seen! Took my dog there cause another dog bit him in the neck before they would get the doctor to even look at my dog they want to make sure I had money to pay them the concern was not my dog but money from the start next they pushed paper on me while I was so up set with out even giving me any time to think they laughed at my family and I while we were so up set about situation they acted as if it was a joke! Never did they offer me as the owner any help with finances they said they need all the money up front and would not take payments even when I offered to pay more then half at the time and the rest on monthly installments they refused!! they were more then happy to kill my dog then to save his life!! My dog had a chance to live but cause I didn't have a few thousand dollars right on the spot this place said it would be best if they killed him all cause of money Instat of saving a poor inacent life all over money!!! I can't believe This! there are no kill shelters that believe every pet deserves a chance and other veterinarians that feel the same if a pet can be saved why not give them a second chance at life! This veterinarian did think that way! this veterinarian and the staff only thought about $$$$ they are greedy, ingorent and very selfish! Please don't bring your pet there if you want your pet to have a fighting chance to live. Read Less

My dog was ill and we ended up in their ER and my pup was treated by Dr. Parrot. While she may be a good veterinarian, at the time I realized that she’s not a “people” person. Nonetheless, my dog was okay and I was grateful. We took our yorkie to see her as well and because we were hesitant to allow her to do $800 worth of test and asked her what we could do AT THIS MOMENT, she threatened to file a complaint on us for animal abuse. We explained that we wntd to take him to another vet we thought was a bit more practical for our budget and she continued with the threats. However, we realized that it was not a threat because we received a notice from Animal Control from an “anonymous” tip (Cuz she thinks we’re stupid enough to think it wasn’t her *rolls eyes*) If Dr. Parrot had followed up she would’ve known that before the sun went down on the day she saw our yorkie, another appointment had been set for him to see a vet... Now we are on watch by animal control. I can’t stop people from bringing their pets to her but I know me and mine will NEVER set foot in that place again. And after reading the reviews, she seems to be nice to those individuals who’s skin color matches hers. While we do not want to see anyone fail at what they do, we will be boisterous in voicing our experience with Dr. Parrot on every platform we have available. Read Less

Dr. Jamie Nenezian and her assistant quickly performed his amputation, gave me detailed instructions and medications. On his follow up 10 days later, I saw Dr. Parrott. This is the best experience I have ever had with a vet.  Take the time to read their webpage and the amount of experience Dr. Parrot brings its incredible! Not only do I visit her but so does everyone in my office!  In fact they recommended this office to me.  My dog was very ill in her last few years and the previous vet (banfield) said she would need surgery!  A 14 year old dog and surgery aren't a good mix but she was suffering.  I took her to Dr Parrot and her last few years of life were such a better quality and I could not thank them enough.  We take our current puppy there who doesn't really need more then usual checkups but it is nice to know he is with someone I can trust! Being reasonable and realistic it may not be as inexpensive or convenient as a local banfield (depending on where you live) but they are so much more knowledgeable, family owned and operated, and just an excellent experience. I wish I could give 10 stars to Dr. Parrott & her incredible staff at St. Charles Veterinary Hospital! As long as I'm living anywhere in Florida, I will never use any other vet but her! Not only is the level of treatment & medical care beyond excellent, but Dr. Parrott and every member of her staff truly *care* about your pet and you. The atmosphere is so friendly & caring at the clinic. Even outside of an actual office visit, when I had questions or concerns, Dr. Parrott and/or Ryan answered my emails almost immediately & helped out in every way possible. It can be so difficult to find a * knowledgeable* veterinarian when dealing with birds and other animals outside of dogs & cats. I feel so blessed that my little Connor (quaker parrot) and Riley (rat) have such an excellent doctor to take care of them! Of course, St Charles is wonderful for dogs & cats -- but also if you have any type of "exotic pet", this is definitely the clinic to bring them to!! Read Less

Simply the best with simply the best, most polite staff. Dr. Parrot has been my vet of choice for my kitties and birds for years. She's the only avian vet for miles and miles. During those years I've learned... with due respect to the previous reviewer who was trying to be an amateur veterinarian, not to bring my pets in and ask to be shown how to use sophisticated medical equipment that only a licensed veterinarian is qualified to use and only after a proper diagnosis. Sounds like Dr. Parrot 'fired' that customer. A+ for the St. Charles Veterinary Hospital! Read Less

Read Less

Our loved Abyssinian Cat got ahold of lilies and was caught chewing on the petals. We suspect he may have also ingested toxic pollen as well. We called St Charles Veterinary Hospital and were informed of the life threatening danger right away. Our cat was immediately admitted to the emergency room and hospitalized for 3 days to ensure full recovery. We have done thorough research and now understand that great staff and wonderful doctors of the clinic most likely saved our kitten’s life. Hospital Staff was very proactive, informative and allowed us to visit our cat on the daily bases. Every time we would call the clinic they would provide detailed feedback on the cats current condition. We have done thorough research and now understand that great staff and wonderful doctors of the clinic most likely saved our kitten's life. Hospital Staff was very proactive, informative and allowed us to visit our cat on the daily bases. Every time we would call the clinic they would provide detailed feedback on the cats current condition. Doctors and nurses were performing hourly check ups and we would get daily calls from the doctor on duty as well. Because of the hospital care our baby cat is home now - happy and healthy. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Amazing team of pet health care providers!!  They treat my dogs as if they were their own. My dogs actually ENJOY being at the vet. Lauren and Amy up front greet us by name and know our pets. Dr. Polly, Sabrina and Brandon love my pets. They have advanced treatment options including laser pain treatment which is a God send for Dillon's arthritis. They have cared for our dogs for the last 7 years. There is no one I trust more. I highly recommend them. I cannot imagine any place else caring as much as this team. Their pet care is in addition to their non profit care of wildlife. Read Less

I love these people. They treat my dog like she's their own. My pup gets excited every time we pull into the lot because she knows all of her friends will be there to say hi. All the staff are incredibly friendly and the care is top notch. My dog has incredibly bad skin allergies and every time I have a problem they quickly and efficiently help her get better. They genuinely care about their customers, their customer's pets, and give better service than any other vet I've ever been to. They let you know up front what the treatments will cost, so there is never a surprise bill at the end. I could not recommend them any more highly. If you care about your pet, and want the best treatment around, you really need to give them a try. Read Less

We've had great experiences with this vet. My "normal" vet cannot see small animals, so we took our new pet rabbit here based on a referral.  The staff is excellent and they offer more services than most vets.  My dog goes to our other vet, but we're bringing him here too for laser treatment for his hips that his other vet doesn't offer. Took our boxer for vaccinations. He is a bit hyper- he's a 2 year old boxer. The vet could not give him his shots because of how worked up he was. All they did was get him more worked up.  We never had this problem with our vet in Texas. All she kept saying was "I promise I can give a dog a shot."  Not very confident about that. We will not be back. Read Less

We used St Charles services for our dog over a period of a year or more. After the last visit there I simply questioned over the phone one charge on our bill. I never received a call back regarding the charge. Instead I was issued a written letter from them kindly asking me to take my services elsewhere!!! Unbelievable - whatever happened to common courtesy or helpful assistance? Obviously they do not really care about their customers or about retaining them from my example. I am happily now using another veterinary practice who are very happy to help and explain things to their customers. Read Less

A big and heart filled thank you to Dr. Parrot and Dr. Allison with my old girl, Maggie. I moved from NY a few months ago, and the local vets just weren't giving my girl she respect she needed! All they wanted to do was charge for unnecessary testing, when i had already had it done a month before up north! St. Charles took their time with her, and even met me at the door knowing she was a big dog who had trouble walking! Sadly our loved Maggie passed at home and even with the after care St. Charles was there! A HUGE thank you to the up front staff and Sabrina !!! Read Less

Read Less
