Debary Animal Clinic

I took my dog there because he was scratching himself raw and I had just adopted him a few months prior. on 8/7/2018 Dr checked my dog and said he had allergies. gave me pills and said to bring back a stool sample. That bill was $283.72. On 8/15/2018 brought back stool sample and was charged $28.99 to check it. I was told my dog had worms  and was given medicine for $28.50.  Told to come back on 8/24/2018 to recheck to see how the skin irritation was doing. This time a different DR, checked my dog. She repeated most of the same tests all over again and was told the bill would be $170.00, I asked why she was repeating the same tests and she said to make sure everything is the same. Upon check out I was given a different medicine and was presented a bill for $246.39. I asked the receptionist why the large difference and she said the first was just an estimate. I also brought in a stool sample that day and was charged an additional $28.99 to check it. I got a call on 8/28/2018 and was told my dog still had worms and they had laid out a different medicine. I went and picked up the medicine and was charged  $42.78 for 2 pills.  I had to bring back another sample on 9/5/2018 and was charged another $28.99. I received a call a few days later to tell me my dog still had worms.   That's when I had enough. I called Broadway animal hospital in Oviedo and made an appointment. It's a long drive but I had used DR. V. for a few years when I had another dog and had lived in Oviedo and had absolutely loved him. I brought my dog in on 9/5/2018 and DR. V. did a comprehensive work up as well as checking for worms. I was told that my dog DOES NOT have worms and is as healthy as a horse. He also told me that an injection for allergies works immediately and is much more effective that the pills and should only have to be repeated as needed. He said it could be about 6 weeks or longer. That visit was only $126.00 which included the allergy injection. He also told me to put about a teaspoon of LOCAL honey on his food and that will help his immune system tolerate the local pollens. I started the honey immediately. My dog had stopped scratching before I even got him home.  I brought him back on 10/27/2019 for another shot and was charged only $39.00 which was less that the 2 pills from Debary animal clinic. Brought him in again on 12/29/2018 and 3/2/2019. His allergies have been steadily improving and he hardly ever scratches anymore. I just brought my dog in on 6/13/2019 for his complete yearly exam, blood work, shots, rabies etc and also an allergy shot and that charge for everything was only $193.00. I will never go back to Debary animal clinic again.  They are so dishonest and nickel and dime you to death. Selling me medicine for a symptom that my dog never had, he should have his license revoked. Then telling you one price and padding the bill upon checkout is just plain dishonest. Read Less

My dog injured his leg and I called early on a Thursday morning to see if I could make an appointment to bring him in.  I was told there was only one doctor on call and that he was performing surgery all day.  They couldn't even see him the next day.  They said they were double booked until next week.  I just took my dog to AVS in Maitland instead.  What kind of facility is this if it is not even properly staffed to handle incoming patients. The girls at the front desk at this place have a lot to learn about quality customer service. And don't ask them any questions about how they do things because your only the pet owner you should not ask them such things. Amazing this place is still in business. I hate to think about what they do with all those pets people allow them to care for behind closed doors. They are money suckers not TRUE Veterinarians. be ware!! Read Less

All of the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Very thankful I took a chance and tried this office out. From now on Dr Joe will be our vet. He took the time to explain what was going on with my dog, showed me the problem on her and on a model. He was very kind and gentle as well. LOVE THIS VET! Dr. Sam and Julie are great! Everyone in the office are very friendly and helpful. We had to put down our 11 year old dog and Dr. Sam and Julie made the whole experience suck a little less. We now bring our new pup in for all his puppy shots/neutering. It's taken me a awhile to write this, but I needed to get myself in a better place emotionally. We had to put our 17 year old kitty down a little over a month ago Our Maggie was our family, she gave us so many wonderful years and we are so grateful for the memories she left us with. This was such an emotional day and I didn't even understand what I was thinking, not thinking or doing for that matter. Dr. Sam, Dr. Joe and their staff were absolutely nothing short of amazing. Dr. Joe walked us through every step of the way with such compassion. This is a decision that will never be easy for any pet owner but the care, compassion and kindness made it more bearable. We just moved to DeBary and went looking for a new vet. Our two Maltese only needed an annual checkup to get their Trifexus. We scheduled with DeBary Animal Clinic and the bill for the checkup and 6 months of Trifexus was over $700! This was twice the amount our last vet charged for the same service. Read Less

I have taken two of our animals here within the last two weeks. I find Dr. Joe and his entire staff to be very caring and thorough. He asked all about our dog's and cat's histories, listened carefully to my answers, and explained his diagnosis and treatment plan completely. The facility is clean and open, and they offer you a tour of it so that you can see where your pet will be treated. They have a full array of equipment including X-ray and sonogram, as well as a dedicated sterile operating room. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Our 14 yr old cat was in bad shape, DAC took us right in on short notice, Dr. Joe was very kind, after examining her, he said the best thing would be to put her down, the staff was also nice, they took care of it right away so she would not suffer, they were very kind and understanding. Read Less

Dr. Joe and staff are awesome. They really care about your pets. I won't take my pets anywhere else. They call regularly post visit to check on your sick or injured pet. Prices may seem high but they actually do more than other clinics would do. Read Less

I absolutely love this clinic! Doctor Joe and his entire staff was so good to me and my puppy! Kaizer was given treats from the moment he got into the room and even sent us home with a goodie bag for him. The entire staff showed much love to my puppy and thoroughly examined him. I had told the staff how I was unhappy with the last vet I had visited and they very well made up for it! The staff took us on a tour of the clinic, the doctor kept saying how cool he thought my dog was, he took pictures of and with Kaizer and they even sent the pictures in a card in the mail! As new customers they took us in on the same day.  They did a physical examination of our 15 yr old cat and recommended blood work.  And gave us a written statement of the cost of the blood work thus leaving the decision to us whether we'd get the work done or not.  I explained I couldn't afford that much right now but we could very soon.  They understood.  We brought her back the next day when we had the money. I am so impressed that they took the time and called to ask me how my cat was feeling! When the tests came in the next day we were called and told the results were good.  She won't over some recommendations the vet had. And answered some questions that didn't have to do with my cat specifically.  The vaccination packages may seem expensive but the vacs are 4yr vacs. You won't need to do annual vacs for 4yrs ...awesome for me. And it breaks down to be regular prices in the long run.  They truly care about the animals and owners.  I am impressed and a customer for the life of our pets. Read Less

Recently my 16 1/2 year old dog suffered a stroke, was in bad shape, in pain, crying. It was time. We went to the Debary Animal Clinic Dr. Joe met us and assisted Gizzy out of her pain.
