Another money pit! I’ve brought my cat here several times, more eye drops and pills for almost 3 yrs now. Called in on a Tuesday and spoke with Janell asked about having her refill eye drops for my cat, she replied no problem I will call it in. Well she never did! A week has gone by and I called the office after the the pharmacy told me nothing had been called in. I spoke with Janell, she’s unbelievably rude and hung up on me. I asked why didn’t she tell me the doctor needed to see my cat when I spoke with her on Tuesday, she just kept over talking me, just a nasty human being. I will never bring my cat back to this facility. Time to find a place that truly cares about our furry loved ones! Read Less

I was very impressed with Dr. Buss and his tech Lisa she was very professional and gentle with my Louie . Actually all 3 techs I met were fantastic and Dr Buss was thorough with his exam and tests he did were great he explained everything that was going on with my dog's eye and he did that from the start to the end. I was always scared of having to take my pets to a specialist because I always thought it would cost an arm and a leg but I was very misinformed. My charges were incredibly reasonable and I know that may not be the case for everyone but for me it was extremely reasonable and Dr Buss gave me multiple options for treating the glaucoma in my dog's eye. He listened to me and came up with 3 great options. I'll continue to go there with Louie . I say before you go ask for the exam cost first and always ask for an estimate that helps a lot. Everyone  even the office girls were fantastic. Read Less

I called and got an appointment for a consultation right away at the Fort Lauderdale office. He was extremely knowledgeable and not pushy at all. I could tell he wanted the best for my dog and thoroughly explained the process in detail. I scheduled an appointment a few days later for my dog to have the surgery at the Deerfield Beach office. Dr. Buss and his kind staff helped today with what I feared was an impending crisis. Although it was our first visit, Chloe and I were warmly welcomed. Compassion, competence, and skill--you can't ask for more in a vet and the staff. All three attributes were apparent here. I drove a long way to get to Dr. Buss because he had been highly recommended by someone in the field of vet opthamology. The established clients in the waiting room also raved about him. I quickly found out why everyone thinks he is so great--he is. Thankfully surgery was not needed today, but if it had been, Chloe would have been in the best hands possible. Read Less

Dr. Dylan Buss and Dr. Carastro are both excellent eye doctors, very kind, patient and always answer all your questions. .  I have used them for several years on both cats and dogs and their hospital is highly professional and they are both excellent doctors.  Dr. Buss operated on my lab's eye to excise a wart on the rim of the eyelid and on many other occasions, Dr. Carastro has helped me with three different cats and kittens over the years with eye issues.  I would like to add that right next door is Dr. Robin Holsinger, a Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon who has operated on a couple of my labs, mostly benign fatty tumor removal, but she is just as good as the two eye doctors above. Dr. Holsinger's office is South Florida Veterinary Surgery and she is the best. Most of my vets are general practitioners who also do surgery but I never feel good about surgery unless its done by a board certified veterinary surgeon.   They all share an office and I think that they all travel to a few different offices they maintain from West Palm Beach to Broward.   A great outfit, second to none. I recently rescued an abandoned chihuahua and it was very apparent she had severe cataracts. She struggled to get around and often ran into objects. I was referred to Dr. Carastro for further examination. Her staff was very loving and gentle with my old girl and after a thorough exam, Dr. Carastro suggested she would be able to do cataract surgery on one eye after further testing. Unfortunately, that testing showed retinal degradation and corneal edema and she would not be a candidate for surgery. However, after one month of drops to help reduce the fluid, what little vision my dog had was greatly improved. She continues on the drops and edible supplements for her eyes and she is a happy dog! Although she will eventually go fully blind, this blessing has allowed her to become familiar with her surroundings enough that she will be just fine. Thank you all so much for treating me and Pearl with care and respect as well as the work you do with Get A Life Pet Rescue. Read Less

** Do not go to Dr. Carastro. ** She is heartless and driven by profit solely.  Years ago, my dog had cataracts and we went to see her. Dr. Carastro wanted $4,000 for the two eyes.  On top of that, she demanded that we saw her dermatologist partner first for my dog's skin allergy.  The problem was that my dog had seen many vets for her skin allergy for years already. She had tried all sorts of medication and treatments to no avail. I did not want to spent hundreds more on top of the $4,000 that would only further mess up my dog's already ruined immune system.  So, I opted to give my dog daily anti-inflammation eye drops only. One year later, I went back to Dr. Carastro to get another eye drop prescription. (The prescription actually could be written by any vet. But I didn't know it at the time.)  This time, she tried to sell me the surgery again and reduced the price to $1,500 per eye.  Although my dog still had the same skin allergy condition, there was no mentioning of  "You must see my partner first" this time.  She wanted me to buy the eye drops and medication from her.  I said I only wanted the prescription because I wanted to buy them online.  She then added another $25 to my bill.  So, for 10 minutes of exam, I was charged around $135.  Many vets these days are very shady and greedy.  This one tops them all.  Dr. Carastro is all about profits, not the welfare of your pets. (BTW, the same eye medication can be purchased at Walmart for $5/bottle. I believe Dr. Carastro's office charges many times of that price.) Read Less

Strange place. I had my cat's right eye removed due to a melanoma on a Friday and he sneezed blood and appeared lethargic possibly having trouble breathing and stopped eating Sunday. So maybe this is normal I don't know? So I called the Doctors office 8am Monday and was told they don't come in until sometime in the afternoon on Mondays? So explained my situation and at noon, no callback so I call again and "the girl" says " it didn't sound like an emergency to me" So was that a medical opinion? I really felt that since I'd paid they no longer cared about my cat.My general opinion of all vets is that their profession is based on profit and using the emotions of the pet owners to pay exorbitant billsI had hoped for better treatment for me and my cat. I can only hope the girl who answers the phone's "medical opinion" is correct and his symptoms are normal? Read Less

She was very gentle and caring with my scared pup, She found some minor stuff in my dog's eyes, he is getting treatment for the pressure in his eyes but I am very pleased that she didn't push on any unnecessary procedures, instead she said we should just monitor a small speck she found on his right eye.  I now understand why she was so highly recommended, she is an amazing eye dr.  If you have an aging pet you should definitely get their eyes checked out by a specialist before they get too old, Dr. Carastro told me that unfortunately many of her senior patients she sees get to her by the time its too late to save their eyesight, I didn't know this! Read Less

The staff is kind and professional. dr carastro is more than kind and she went over the process with me and instead of making me come back for another appt., we removed it right there. I left with instructions and meds to take care of my girl. We go back in 10 days to see if her eye has healed. Granted she is wearing a cone and my heart hurts but I know I made the right choice because I didn't want her to lose her eye. So, my dog had a large mass growing from his eye. Our local vet said because it was so close to the eye they could not take it off. Someone I ran into recommended Dr. Buss to have the surgery done. I knew he was in good hands with this vet. I am extremely satisfied and the outcome, and his professionalism. I highly recommend Dr. Buss for anyone looking for an eye doctor. Read Less

Read Less
