Absolutely love this office!!! They saved my dog Sam's life. I called the office in a panic after my dog bit into a Bufo Toad . Worst experience I had with my Loving Yorkie. She went in for a teeth cleaning and came out with a dislocated hip. After they "so called" placed hip in a sling for 4 weeks hip didn't go back into socket. Had to take my dog to a hospital for surgery. $4000.00 later she is better. Read Less

This is possibly the most incompetent veterinary hospital if your pet has a serious problem, like an infection. They do not make the difference between a tumor and an abscess. I must sat my Luna and Stella love Pet Vet, my Stella was just spayed and the doctor did a perfect job. The place is spotless, the only thing I don't like is the mats on the examination tables, I remove them and use my own blanket that I bring . The entire staff is so friendly. I just moved to the area and searched online for a local vet with good reviews. I cannot tell you how wonderful my experience was at Pet Vet. I own a ten year old puli, and needed to have quite a few items addressed for her. When I came in, I was greeted immediately and the staff was amazing in the consistency of how nice and caring they were. It is the first vet's office that did not smell like animals or antiseptic, it just smelled good. The vet techs and veterinarian were amazing, answering all of my questions and taking care of as many items as they could. We also discussed the next steps and options for treatments depending on the results today. I feel Chloe and I were extremely lucky to have found Pet Vet, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The service here was okay. The staff was friendly enough and the vet was actually good with animals (which is surprisingly not true about every vet). However, the overall experience was negative. I brought my dog here for treatment of an ear infection. The ear infection was treated, but this treatment was incredibly overpriced. The staff was not up-front about the costs that I would incur. The technician took a swab of the dog's ear and tested it to see what type of infection he had. Then the dog was taken to the treatment area to have his ear cleaned and a medication applied. Only after all this was done was I informed that I would be charged separately for each individual step of this process. I was charged $56 for the exam, $44 for the cytology (test of the ear swab sample), $17.50 for the ear cleaning, and $35.50 for the ear medication. In addition to all of this, there was a "biohazard" fee of $5.50 added to my bill without explanation. I understand the charge for the medication, and this being a veterinarian's office, I expected it to be overpriced. However, I think that the $56 exam fee should cover whatever cost is incurred from throwing away a dirty q-tip, in addition to the labor of cleaning an ear, which I could have easily done myself. I also don't agree with the practice of performing a service and then informing the client of the cost after the fact. I believe my approval should have been solicited prior to the service being done. After the services were performed, the technician brought into the room a breakdown of the charges, in addition to the other "suggested" services, for a grand total of $456!!! I agreed to pay for what had already been done, and agreed to a heartworm test because my dog had a gap in heartworm prevention treatment and I thought it was a good idea. Nowhere on this paper was the "biohazard" fee listed. This was listed on the paperwork provided AFTER I already paid.If you need to go here for whatever reason, ask how much each minuscule step will cost BEFORE they whisk your pet away to the back room. AND after that make sure to examine the bill before leaving to dispute anything else they managed to sneak in there. The only good news is hopefully my dog will feel better. I am scheduled for a follow-up appointment, but if my dog's ear is better at that time, I will be cancelling the follow-up. I don't want to give this office any more money than I already have. Took a friend to the Pet Vet today to get a full check-up for her cat.  The charge for just the exam was $56.00, and literally all they did was weigh the cat.  No inspection of the mouth, ears, eyes, or even listen to his heart and lungs.  Nothing.  I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior.  The vet was insistent on having the cat microchipped, at another cost of $55.00, and would not take no for a answer.  My friend came here because the reviews overall were not bad, and there was a time limit.  Avoid this place if you care at all about the health and well-being of your animals.  Apologies from management after the fact is of little consolation.  Professionals should be professional at all times. We love this vet! Everyone is so friendly, and helpful. My little boy Pistol is very well taken care of when in their hands. It was an unfortunate event on 02/26/15 where Pistol had went into some kind of seizure-like state, and it frightened me so much that I rushed him to this amazing vet and they took him in immediately. He was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and had prescribed him 3 medications to take twice daily. With all appreciation I must say that if it wasn't for their quick actions, and expert medical advice, my Pistol would not have made it to his twelfth (yes, 12TH!) birthday on 10/27/15. Last week he had his blood work done and I rec'd the results via phone call promptly following the visit (which was surprisingly another "walk-in," on a Saturday, where they graciously made time to take Pistol in...again) and everything came back normal, making it even more a miracle of medicine. The doctors and staff are wonderful and interested in your pet. They have been so attentive to our cat who inexplicably lost about 1/3 of his body weight over just a few months. They didn't give up, found a reason and a cure...all without breaking the bank. He continues under their care and on a medication and diet that works. I have been using the Pet Vet Animal Hospital in Deerfield Beach, for as long as they have been opened...Every visit has been an informative and comforting experience.....whether it was to deal with a skin rash--an auto immune problem, a diabetic dog,, an attack of the toad on my two jack russells ,a fight with a raccoon, and even when our lab started bleeding out and his belly was filling with blood due to a ruptured spleen---Dr Haskins operated right then and there in his office(because there was not enough time to get him to a surgeon) and he saved his life.....And when it was time for my dear Gus......they were waiting for us with a dimly lit room, a candle burning and a comforting blanket covering the floor...so I could hold him in my arms as he passed....Dr. Martinez always takes the time to explain everything to you, in addition to giving you paper work explaining the why and how of each item in detail.I feel everyone in the office truly cares about your family member and they do their best to make your visit pleasant, informative, and affordable......I would rate them "10" stars.....Read Less

I took my cat there Saturday for a routine looksee . It was my first time as I am new to the area. Everyone was very nice and so was the doctor!!! My cat saw dr kuehnel and he gave a through exam and I was very happy. As we left I was given a magnet with my cats picture for my fridge. It made my day. I have been to this vet twice because a friend recommended it, she has been taking both of her dogs here for years. Both times were emergency visits cause the pup was sick.  First time my dog had a bad hot spot sore that she itched so bad it was bleeding. The vet gave Julz a shot immediately in the hot spot with cortisone, antibiotics to take home and itch spray.  My dog was in relief from the pain and itching immediately and we were both very happy.  Only cost around $140 but that was with the added new patient fee of I think $50.  Recently my dog was sick again and it was Christmas Eve.  She had diarrhea for 3 days and then she lost her appetite.  They were only open until 2pm and as soon as I called and explained the situation they said to take her in and within the hour I was sitting with the doctor. They took care of my pup and gave her a shot, some fluids and meds to take home.  They also ran a few tests and it cost just under $200.  Well worth it!!  It was a holiday and I just called in that day for an appointment.  The doctors have always been so nice and helpful, so have the techs.  My dog hates the vet and knows where we are as soon as we walk in the door, and they always seem to calm her down and make her relax so they can check her out. I found Pet Vet in Deerfield Beach Florida on line.  I live in Pennsylvania and I am also renting in Florida for a year.  My dog Rocket was not himself and Pet Vet said bring him in.  Dr Gregg Kuehnel checked Rocket to see what could be wrong.  Dr Kuehnel was wonderful.  He was so kind to me and my dog.  He explained that Rocket had a tumor and that it was near his spleen.  We found that out by the tests he did on Rocket.  He explained everything to me and took his time to make sure I understood how I must proceed.  I was luckly to find Dr Kuehnel and his wonderful staff of caring people who were so very kind to me.                                                            I wanted my dog to see my children back in Pa. so I flew Rocket home just incase things didn't turn out well.  It all happened quickly.  He was home saw children then next day his operation.  It was Cancer and the cancer had spread quickly inside his body.  The surgeon said it was very bad and too much cancer.  My surgeon and I cried. My Jack Russell Terrier Rocket who was turning 13 on July 2, 2013 Died on Friday May 3, 2013. Read Less

I would give negative stars if I could.This is not the vet you want if you care about animals being adopted from shelters. My recent experience with Dr. Haskins was unbelievable. I brought my cat in who had been adopted from a local cat shelter. My cat had not eaten in 3 days. He took blood and urine samples and said " he would get back to me" . He then gave me " appetite enhancement pills.  At no time did he suggest hydration, give antibiotics for possible infection, no other treatment was done. he did tell me that my cat needed dental work and to schedule it with his front desk. His biggest concern was to get me out as fast as he could! And, the appetite pills turned out to be Valium. After a couple of days of calling, he said he needed another urine sample. I took my still sick cat in.  No return phone call after two days. I called and started asking questions. His next action was to call the shelter where I adopted this cat and demand payment before he would do anymore work.  And, the bill for what I described above was $500. The shelter paid the bill, but he would ONLY release blood work, no other records, for me to take to a new vet. These records don't belong to him!!! My new vet thoroughly examined my cat, immediately found the infection. He gave her a shot of antibiotics and antibiotics for me to give her and pain meds. 48 hours later she was fine. And her teeth are fine and the bill is 1/4 of Dr. Haskins.  Dr. Haskins signed up to treat these shelter cats for a reduced fee. That would indicate someone compassionate.  His commen to the shelter director when asked why he had done so little for my cat was "Well, nobody owns these cats!"  Nice!Oh, and of the $500 in charges?  He had the nerve to actually charge $5 to take the syringe used to collect blood for a CBC and place that syringe in a biohazard box. I've been going to this vet for years with several dogs and cats. The vet attendants and the receptionists are very warm and nice.  Each time except for once I saw Dr. Kim Simmons.  Dr. Simmons is amazing, she listens to you, is compassionate with your pet and explains everything clearly.  If your pet has had blood tests she will give you a copy of all the levels and explain where your pet is on each (normal, low, high). I went to PetVet specifically bc of her, even though I had moved to Fort Lauderdale. Unfortunately the last time I went I didn't see her (and I don't see her on their site anymore, she left?) instead I saw Dr. Haskins. I had an old sick kitty who needed care. My kitty, Ophelia, was presumably suffering from a urinary tract infection (she fit all the symptoms on several websites).  We called early in the morning but they said they were booked up until 3pm;  I could drop her off so the Dr could take a look at her in between appts and there would be a $300 deposit.  After keeping her home until noon, we decided to bring her in because she was lethargic.  At 1pm Dr. Haskins called and said she was very dehydrated and he needed to do blood tests to find out more.  An nurse called an HOUR later and said our total was already up to $374, she asked if we wanted to put her on fluids to rehydrate her (wouldn't this be the first thing you do?).   She said he still didn't know what the test results were but said she's very "dehydrated and should be put on fluids for 3-5 days".  When asked how much that would be she said she would call us back.  20 min later the receptionist calls and quoted us $679 to keep her for 3 days on intravenous fluids. We said we couldn't afford that, what if we just kept her overnight?  20 min later we got another call from another receptionist  with another quote. " $590 to keep her overnight on fluids" At this point we were felt like we had just taken in a car to a mechanic and were being jerked around. Feeling distrustful and helpless because it was getting late, we just opted to keep her until the end of the day with fluids.At 5:30 we arrived and met with Dr. Haskins.  He started out with "she's a very sick kitty who needs a lot of care, she's old and cats usually have kidney disease when they reach a certain point"  when we asked if she does have kidney issues, he responded with "the tests look high but it could also be because of her current state"  When I asked him if she did in fact have a urinary tract infection he said "it could be, we would have to run tests" .  He kept speaking in generalizations about cats getting older and developing kidney issues. I felt like I was speaking to a politician, or someone who was "winging it".  I still wonder if he did even examine her or do any "real" tests because after nearly $700 we still had not received any definite answers from him.  He was aloof in the way he spoke and provided no specific information. He asked if we had any more questions for him, we didn't, so he left and then sent the technician to get Ophie.  We had to put Ophie down the next night at a pet hospital.  She began to breathe laboriously and I didn't want her to suffer further.  While I don't doubt that it was "her time" I do doubt the care she received at PetVet.  Would she have hung on longer if they would have put her on fluids earlier? If the Dr. hadn't kept quoting me ridiculously high prices would I have been able to give her better care? Would I have just opted to put her down at PetVet if I had been given clear responses?  These are all questions that I ask myself.  After loving a pet for 17 years, the last thing you want is for their life to end gasping for breath.  I can't help but feel bitterness by the run around I was put through. The office is great. It's clean and everyone is so nice. Dr. Haskins explains things to you and is very patient. I take both my cats to him. He understands that I am Nervous Nelly Mom and never makes me embarrassed or feel like it's a waste of his time when it's nothing. They follow-up the next day with a call no matter what the visit was for to see if your pet is ok. I've even called them with symptoms and they will prescribe medication over the phone.
